AXTEN - Magdelena Katherine "Lena" (nee Kaip). On Friday, July 2, 2004, Magdelena Katherine (Lena) Axten passed away at Weyburn General Hospital at the age of 91 years. Predeceased by her husband Ivor Axten in 1967, parents Lorentz and Mary Kaip, brothers Mike and Joe, sisters Mary Kaip, Katie Ruschiensky and Evelyn Garber. Lena is survived by three sons: Bill (Dorothy) of Minton; Vern (Louise), Minton; Bob (Sheila), Coldale, AB; 11 grandchildren: Terri (Randy) Uytterhagen, Joanne (Rick) LaBrash, Rob (Natalie) Axten, Blaine (Joyce) Axten, Brian (Louise) Axten, Linda (Jack) Floer, Karen (Blake) LaBatte, Craig Axten, Bill (Donna) Axten, Kathy Campus and Todd (Cindy) Axten; 28 great grandchildren: Jordan, Nicole, Sarah, Jerad, Andrew, Madelaine, Audrey, Lilian, Chloe, Mark, Kendra, Matthew, Michelle, Rachelle, Nolan, Michael, Tanya, Melissa, Jessica, Ryan, Alyssa, Ryan, Robert, Christopher, Amanda, Dustin, Danielle, and Alexandra; Lena's sister Barbara, (Pat) Klein, and sisters-in-law Doris Bell, Rose Kaip, and numerous nieces and nephews. On June 4, 1913, Magdelena Katherine Kaip was born to Mary Floer and Lorentz Kaip in St. Paul, Minnesota. She was the fifth child of seven: Katie, Mary (who died at age four weeks), Joe, Mike, Lena, Barbara and Evelyn. When Lena was a few months old, Mary and Lorentz and family came to Canada and took up a homestead in the Minton area. Lena attended school up to grade eight, and then she moved to Outlook, Montana, where she was employed as a waitress. In 1931 she returned home to help her parents in the hotel. In 1931 she married Ivor Axten and they made their home in Minton where they farmed, owned an implement dealership, garage and a trucking business. In the midst of all their business ventures, Ivor and Lena were blessed with three sons: William (1934), Vernon (1935) and Robert (1938). In 1943 Lena and Ivor purchased the local store and continued to operate some of their other businesses. Wedding bells began to ring as all three boys were married within a span of four months. On October 14, 1957 Vern and Louise were married, November 4, 1957 Bill married Dorothy and February 14, 1958 Bob married Sheila. In 1967 Ivor passed away and Lena and her sons continued to carry on the buisiness. In 1975 Lena sold the store. After being in the business for over 30 years Lena wanted more time to spend with her grandchildren and care for her house and home. Lena loved her garden, especially her flowers, and enjoyed driving her car, crocheting and handywork, baking, cooking, playing cards, bingo, gambling, going to local ball games and watching the Blue Jays on TV. In her younger years she was an avid curler. Lena also was a member of various community organizations. In 1997 Lena's health began to fail. She moved to the Radville Marion Nursing Home, then to the Deep South Personal Care Home in Pangman, and finally to the Weyburn Special Care Nursing Home. The funeral service for Lena was held at St. Eugene's Roman Catholic Church in Minton on Monday, July 5, 2004 with Father Prince as celebrant. Pallbearers were Blaine Axten, Brian Axten, Bill Axten Jr., Rob Axten, Todd Axten and Jack Floer. Interment was in the Chapel Grove Cemetery at Minton. BELL - Brian William Bell (1960 - 2005). It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our loved one on March 5th, 2005. Brian was predeceased by brother, Dwayne; his four grandparents; and numerous other relatives. Brian is survived by his children, Raelene (John) Bennett, Joel, Nichole, Chastity and Katrina; two grandchildren, Dean and Emma. Also left to mourn Brian's passing are his parents, Alfred and Joyce Bell; brothers and sisters, Larry (Sharon) Bell, Marion (Harold) Uytterhagen, Lorne (Ellen) Bell, Karen (Jerry) Knauss, Mark Bell; aunts, uncles, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel on Friday, March 11th from 7:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 12th at 11:00 a.m. in Minton Community Hall, Minton SK with burial to follow in Chapel Grove Cemetery, Minton. BELL - Charles Frank Bell was born on May 20, 1948 in Gladmar. He passed away at Deep South Personal Care Home, Pangman on February 25, 2002 at the age of 53 years. Enroute to Gladmar, Mom and Dad stopped at Caroline and Frank Floer's farm only to find Caroline is ready to deliver her son Lorne also. Lorne and Charles were born only 1-1/2 hours apart. How often do two neighbour ladies get to ride in the same car to the hospital and deliver babies? I found this unique. Charles was the second of the four bib overall boys born to Willie and Theresa Bell. I say this because it's my first memory of him. He was standing beside the cook stove at the farm dressed in blue and white striped bib overalls. Charles was a man with strong determination and perseverance. If he decided to do something absolutely nothing made him succumb. He would not give in. His strong mind and will to live kept him among us long beyond his expected time. He never had big dreams. He was a simple man with a simple plan. When I asked him last week if there was anything he wanted or needed, his only request was to go home for a day. We granted him that last wish. Fishing was a favorite pastime of Charles'. Going to northern Saskatch-ewan fishing with Dwayne Noble were moments Charles remembered fondly. Charles never had children of his own, but he loved ours dearly. His nieces and nephews were dear to his heart. If they had vehicle problems the first one they called on was Uncle Chuck. My brother was very mechanically inclined. Mechanics was not only a job for Charles but also a hobby. He spent many hours with Dwayne Noble and Nick Stefan learning the tricks of the trade. In recent years Charles spent many hours teaching his nephews Brett and James how to be grease monkeys too. Those boys will be forever grateful for what he taught them. Charles had a passion for cars. We never knew what he would be driving from one day to the next. If didn't matter what he drove, to him it was the best. He had a sense of humour and kept it right until the end. One day he was feeling well and next day he was ill. He explained those days as chicken one day and feathers the next. Predeceased by his father William Bell; nephew Jody Bell; grandparents: Mike and Frances Bell, Frank and Elizabeth Klein. Charles is survived by his mother Theresa Bell; brothers: Ken (Carol) Bell of North Battleford; Dennis (Colleen) Bell of North Battleford; Arthur (Deanna) Bell of Mankota; sister: Faye Bell of Pangman; nieces and nephews: Kimberly (Kevin), Tanis (Dallas); Keith (Rhonda), Craig, James, Michael, Cordelle, Brendan, Brett, Reid and Amber; great nieces and nephews: Amanda, Kody, Caleb; special friends: Ted, Nancy and Samantha. All his nieces and nephews were considered honorary pallbearers. Prayers were held Thursday, February 28, at 7:00 p.m. from the Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church, Pangman. A graveside service was held Friday, March 1 at 10:30 a.m. at Chapel Grove Cemetery, Minton, with Father Prince celebrant. BELL - Doris Minnie Bell, late of Regina, SK passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at the age of 88 years. Predeceased by her husband Gordon in 1973; Doris is survived by her companion Joe Franzem, nephew Donald and numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 7, 2004 in the Minton Community Hall, Minton, SK with Rev. Larry Edwards officiating. Cremation. Interment on Monday, August 9, 2004 at 3:00 P.M. in Riverside Memorial Park, Regina, SK. Those so wishing may meet at the cemetery entrance to join the procession. BELL - Faye Elizabeth late of Ogema, SK passed away on Friday, December 5, 2008 at the age of 48 years. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 4:00 P.M. from Ogema School, Ogema, SK with Fr. Stephen Bill officiating. Interment to take place in Chapel Grove Cemetery, Minton, SK. at a later date. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 9th, 2008 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral Chapels, Weyburn, SK. BELL - William Joseph. On Thursday, May 31, 2001, William Joseph Bell passed away at the age of 81 years at the Regina General Hospital at Regina. Predeceased by his father Michael Bell in 1960 and his mother Frances Bell in 1996, an infant sister Sophie in 1918, and a very special angel (grandson) Jody in 1989 and numerous other relatives. Willie was born on the family farm on July 29, 1919. He lived in the Minton area for most of his life. In 1996 due to failed health he moved to Pangman where he resided until his passing. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 54 years Theresa of Pangman, four sons: Kenneth (Carol) of North Battleford, Charles of Pangman, Dennis (Colleen) of North Battleford, Arthur (Deanna) of Mankota, and one daughter Faye of Pangman; and one son-in-law Ted of Pangman. His precious grandchildren Kim, Keith, Craig, Tanis, Brett, Reid, Amber, Cordelle, James, Michael and Brendan and two very special great grandchildren Amanda and Kody. Also survived by one sister Margaret Franzem of Regina, one brother Alfred (Joyce) Bell of Minton, sisters-in-law Caroline Herman of Regina, Annie Norman of Weyburn, Margaret Schell of Carlyle, Lucille Klein of Weyburn; brothers-in-law Frank Kaip of Regina and Kundus (Barbara) Klein of Regina, and numerous nieces and nephews and many great life long friends. Prayer service was held at Holy Angels Parish in Pangman on Sunday, June 3 at 7:30 p.m. A funeral mass was held at Holy Angels Parish on June 4 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Brian Meredith and Father Stephen Bill presiding. All grandchildren were considered to be honorary pallbearers. The active pallbearers were: Frank Kaip, John Hoffart, Larry Bell, Vernon Klein, Richard Klein and Greg Hanson. Following the interment at Chapel Grove in Minton a reception was held at the Pangman Recreation Centre. BLACK - Doris Elizabeth "Dolly" (nee Hibbard) Black, Teacher / Day Care Director. Dolly Black was born November 30, 1928 & died November 7, 2007 at the age of 78. She was born in the farmhouse of her parents, Stanley & Marguerite Hibbard near Minton, Saskatchewan, Canada. Dolly graduated from nearby Ceylon SK High School. She attended the Ceylon United Church of Canada, where she received Jesus as her Lord & Savior. She completed her education as a teacher, and taught in a local country one-room grade school in Saskatchewan until she met and married Donald Black. The couple farmed for a short time, relocating in Calgary Alberta, where Dolly served as a substitute teacher while raising her family. After moving to California, Dolly managed day care centers in Canoga Park, Hanford and Tulare. They celebrated their 58th anniversary last February. Dolly is survived by husband Don. Don and Dolly have four children: Mary Marguerite Usui of Portland, OR, Eric Hibbard (and Teresa) Black of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Raymond James (and Sandye) Black of North Fork, CA, and Thom Alexander (and Deborah) Black of Visalia, CA. There are four grandchildren, four step grandchildren, two-step great grandchildren. She had two brothers, Leonard, now deceased and Vernon, of Regina, SK, Canada, and two sisters May Zyla, now deceased, and Agnes Ayotte, of Okanagan Falls, B.C., Canada. Until her illness, Dolly was active in her church. She served as a Deacon at the Hanford Presbyterian Church, and one of her specialties was visitation of rest home residents. She and Don also ministered as special representatives for HCJB World Radio, an independent Christian radio mission. Dolly had Parkinson's disease the last 25 years of her life, and lived in a rest home the last 14. In spite of her illness, she never lost her sweet friendly spirit. She loved people and had many friends. Her specialty was little children, and both the staff & the children in her day care centers loved her dearly, as did the staff at the rest home. Dolly was a loving, attractive and supportive wife, an excellent mother and homemaker, and a warm, smiling friend. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. There will be a memorial service at the Visalia First Assembly of God at the corner of Caldwell and Akers in Visalia at 10am, Tuesday, November 20, 2007. BLACKMORE - Charles "Duaine", of Langenburg, SK, and formerly of Churchbridge, SK, passed away on September, 28, 2007 at the age of 74 years. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2007 at 2:00 PM from St. Andrews United Church, Esterhazy, SK. with interment to follow at a later date in the Chapel Grove Cemetery, Minton, SK. Duaine Blackmore was born at Minton, SK on June 29, 1933. He passed away on September 28, 2007 at the Centennial Special Care Home in Langenburg, SK. Duaine was predeceased by his parents; Charlie and Adaline, one sister; Erma, one son; Timothy in 1963, father and mother-in-law; Oliver and Louise Dokken, brother-in-law; Marlo Dokken, sister-in-law; Audrey & Doreen Dennis Willock. He'll be sadly missed by his wife: Beverly; sons: Clint (Pram) Blackmore, Vince Blackmore; daughter: Anita (Mark) Valley; sisters: Violia (Art) Reichert of Kelowna, BC; Cheryl (John) Dahl of Minton, SK; 5 brothers: Vern Blackmore of Minton, SK; Derald (Roseanne) Blackmore of Minton, SK; Doug Blackmore of Kelowna, BC; John Blackmore of Minton, SK; Jim (Brenda) Blackmore of Minton, SK; 4 grandchildren: Justin & Josh Blackmore, Kristen & Jessie Valley; 3 sisters-in-law: Elsie Willock, Marlene Payne, Yvonne Dokken; 4 brothers-in-law; and many cousins, nephews, and nieces. Duaine was a very active man throughout his life. All those who new Duaine will miss his cheerful, friendly coffee drinking ways. BLOOR - Mildred Isabelle (nee Ritter), late of Weyburn passed away at the Weyburn Special Care Home on Thursday February 24, 2011, at the age of 91 years. Mildred was predeceased by her husband, Clifford, a son, Clinton, her parents, Charlotte and Levi, sister in infancy, Lola Marie, sister, Margaret (Lorentz) Pettersen, brothers, Howard Ritter, Charles (Nell) Ritter, brothers-in-law, Jack Hogg, Lorence (Annie) Bloor and sister-in-law, Marie Bloor. Mildred is survived by her children, Thelma (Wilfred) Jacobson, Lake Alma; Marilynne (Lawrence) Jacobson, Sifton, MB, Lavern (Loretta) Bloor, Prince Albert, 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, sister, Helen Hogg, Saskatoon, sister-in-law, Dorothy Ritter, Regina, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Mildred (better known as Milly) was born November 22, 1919 to Levi and Charlotte Ritter, on the homestead south of Gladmar. She weighed in at one and a half pounds. She was determined to live, and that determination stayed with her all her life. Milly took her schooling at Hummingbird School, then to high school at Gladmar. On November 14, 1939, she was united in marrriage to Clifford Bloor. They started their married life on a ranch 10 miles north of Gladmar. Their four children were born here, then in 1953 they moved to a farm at Brooking, SK, so the children were closer to school. In 1974, they retired to Radville, then in 1979 they moved to Weyburn. She loved to bake and cook, trying new recipes, knitting and doing many crafts. A funeral service for Mildred was held on Monday, February 28 at 11:00 a.m. from RD Family Funeral Chapel, Weyburn with Pastor Martin Olson, officiating. Interment followed at Laurier Cemetery, Radvile. Pallbearers were James Anderson, Jeremy Anderson, Owen Anderson, Austin Anderson, Dylan Jacobson and Ashton Atamanchuk. Honorary pallbearers were all in attendance. BODNAR - Maxine "Max" Dorothy (nee Ritter). It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother on Saturday, December 25, 2010 at the age of 71 years after a courageous battle with cancer. Maxine is survived by her loving family, husband of 54 years, John; son, Steven Bodnar; daughter, Bonnie (Sam) Hadi; daughter, Delila Bodnar; son, Charlie Bodnar; grandchildren, Jolene (Glen) Simon, Tony (Amanda) Hadi, Rosanna (Kevin) Schreiner, Micheal, Teagan, Rhea, Mark, Brook and Maddi; great grandchildren, Tilon, Zaid and Tayva. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Lyle (Debbie) Ritter, Viola (Leonard) Daniel, Faye (Robert) Rusu, Randy (Judy) Ritter and Rick (Janice) Ritter; sister in law, Donna Bodnar as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives; devoted special friends, Vivian (Wayne) Erickson, Darlene (Richard) Trithart and Olive (Leon) Poitras. Maxine was born in Radville, SK and raised at Gladmar, SK. She moved to Regina in 1955, met and married John in 1956. Maxine lived in Regina her entire life. She worked as an instrument Technician for 28 years at Regina General Hospital. Mom loved family times, gardening, travelling, crocheting, live shows, flowers, shopping and her pet, Buddy. She was an excellent cook, mother and a devoted wife. Maxine, you are forever in our thoughts and always in our hearts until we meet again. We love you Max. At Maxine's request, no funeral service will take place. BRINGEDAHL - Donald Norman Bringedahl died peacefully on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the Radville Marian Health Centre. Donald Norman Bringedahl was born August 11, 1927 to Ben (Baard) and Emma Bringedahl. He was the youngest of four children, two sisters Florine (1920) and Jemaine (1923) one brother Milo (1925). Don was born on the SW 03-01-19. When he was a little more than a year old the family moved to their newly built home on the NE 02-01-19. This is where the family farm still remains. A story that was told on moving day was that the weather was so cold that the stove was loaded hot and was used to keep baby Don�s feet warm. Don attended Three Lakes School where he completed his Grade 8. He then moved to Regina and began his next stage of schooling at a technical school. This venture lasted a whole three days. The next move was with his brother and some friends where they traveled to Calgary, Alberta to find work. Don became a boiler man helper and aided in the constructing of railcars for the CP Rail. Grandma Emma told of the letters he would send home about how he missed the farm and that city life did not sit well with him. So it was no big surprise that he soon moved back to the farm to continue his life there. Don met Bernice Fuhr in 1947. Her family had moved to Gladmar to manage the Security Lumber Store. The two were married in Plentywood, Montana on October 24, 1953. Bryce once asked his dad how he managed to be the one that married mom; dad only smiled and said �I was the first one to town.� Together Don and Bernice settled on the family farm helping Grandpa Ben and Grandma Emma with the farming. Eventually they took over the management of the farm. A family was started with the arrival of Susan in 1955 and Bryce in 1958. Things Susan and Bryce remember from their growing up years; is their dad driving them to the one room school house and then picking them up every afternoon; the building of the new farm home in 1968; picnics at Mainprize Park; the family fishing trips; trips they took with their close friends going to Hawaii, Mexico and Arizona; lefsa making day and Missy his very demanding cat. After the passing of Bernice in 1989, Don made a move from the farm to his house in the Village of Gladmar. Don very much enjoyed watching the daily happenings of Gladmar. A great thing happened in 2006, the Bringedahl family had the privilege of meeting long lost family from Norway. Three of his newly found first cousins later came to Canada for a visit and the connection blossomed into an instant lifelong friendship. Don was so happy to meet them and to learn more of his family history in Norway. Don attended Sunday services at the Gladmar Lutheran Church. During the week he made many trips to the church to check to see if the lawn mowing job was up to his standards, to see if the basement had once again flooded after a big rain and to trim, prune and seed grass in the church�s grove of trees. Susan would like to thank him for that. A favourite story that has been told over the years is of a resourceful young farm boy who wanted to sell his flat tired bicycle. What he did was to fill the tires with oats, then soaked the tires in the water trough until the oats were swollen enough to stay hard - then the sale was made. As life went on new family members were added, a son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Don welcomed each one of them with unexpressed love. On Don�s 80th birthday, Susan and Bryce and their spouses took Don to Medora, North Dakota for three days. They all had such a great time and many memories were made that weekend. Don lived a good long life. He was proud to be the son of a pioneer. Susan and Bryce feel privileged to have had him as their dad and thank him for all his teaching, patience and parenting. CULBERT - Katherine (nee Tatarliov) Culbert, late of Radville, SK, passed away March, 2008 at the age of 94 years. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Radville, SK at 2:00 PM with Fr. Francis Kurisnkal officiating. Interment at Chapel Grove Cemetery, Minton, SK. Katherine was predeceased by her husband, Wesley Culbert in 2000. CULBERT - Violet (nee Peterson) Culbert, late of Regina, passed away on August 23, 2006 at the age of 92. Violet was predeceased by her husband, William (1986); her parents, John and Lottie Peterson; brothers: Nels, Dan, Lloyd and Ivan; sisters: Jensina (Speerin), Esther (Tangedal), Lucille (Culbert) and Wilma Brown. She is survived by sons, Ronald (Loraine), Kinsella, AB and James (Freda), Regina, SK; daughters, Lillian (Eric) Serson, Fort Qu'Appelle, SK and Karen (Darrell) Graham, Calgary, AB; brothers: Fletcher, Regina, SK, Melvin, Winnipeg, MB, Alan, Surrey, B.C. and Deward (Mathilda), Dauphin, MB. Violet was born at Radville, SK on March 10, 1914, where her parents farmed. She married William Culbert in December 1933 and farmed in the Gladmar, SK district until April 1968. At that time they retired to their home at 825 Forget St., Regina. She moved to the Heritage apartments in 1994 where she had many good friends. The family would like to thank the staff at the Pasqua Hospital 4B and 4D and Sunset Extendicare for the wonderful care she received there. Interment to follow in Riverside Memorial Park. DAHL - Elvin Andrew. On Saturday, December 29, 2007, Elvin Andrew Dahl of Weyburn, passed away at the age of 84 years. Elvin was predeceased by his parents, Olaus and Olga Dahl; brothers: Oliver, Ernest, Melvin, Roy, Art and Einner; sister, Violet Shaw and brother-in-law, Floyd Telenga. Elvin will be remembered by his sisters: Esther (Erik) Verity of Weyburn, Vera Telenga of Lethbridge, AB, Marie (Doug) Wankel of Elbow, and Ruby (Murray) Weatherall of Maple Creek; two sisters-in-law, Irene Dahl of Bethune, and Cheryl Dahl of Gladmar; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Elvin Andrew Dahl was born September 4, 1923. He attended the Big Four School along with his brothers and sisters and learned the value of honesty and hard work from his parents. Elvin was baptized in the Lutheran Church. As a child he attended church with the family. As an adult he preferred listening to church services on the radio. As a young man, Elvin worked on several farms in the area. He worked at sawmills in Parson, BC and in Kapuskasing, ON., cutting logs for a pulpmill. He also worked at Carrot River in the logging industry. In 1951, he began working at the Sybouts Sodium Sulphate Mine south of Gladmar. Elvin enjoyed repairing televisions and radios. He was very dedicated to the game of fastball and spent 40 years as a player, coach, manager, umpire and league executive. He also enjoyed golfing and football games, bowling and card games with friends. He retired in 1983. Elvin took part in various activities at the Senior Centre, bowling, visiting with friends at coffee row and supporting any of the community events. He was presented with a plaque which reads "Dahl's Diamond dedicated to Elvin in recognition of his outstanding commitment to fastball and the fastball teams in the community. A sign in the Gladmar ball park reads "Dahl's Diamond" with the same inscription as the plaque. Elvin lived in Gladmar from 1951 until 2005 when he was hospitalized due to a knee injury. He was unable to return home and spent two years at Tatagwa View Long Term Care Facility in Weyburn until his passing on December 29. Elvin was always willing to help his mother and father and other family members during various times of need. He especially enjoyed family gatherings. His family and friends were very special to him. Interment to follow in Chapel Grove Cemetery , Minton, SK. EIKEMO - Anna Amelia (nee Fladeland) Eikemo, late of Radville, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2005 at the age of 91 years. Anna was predeceased by her parents, Theodore and Selma Fladeland; her husband, Ole Eikemo; her brothers, two in infancy, Arthur (May) Fladeland and Wilhelm Fladeland; and her sisters, Cora (Art) Matters and Emily McGugen. Anna is survived by her son, Alvin Eikemo, Gladmar; her brother, Ted (Gertrude) Fladeland, Gladmar; and her sister, Nina (Joe) Kaufmann, Weyburn; her sister-in-law, Clara Fladeland, North Battleford; along with many nieces and nephews. Anna was born July 31, 1914 in Grand Forks County, North Dakota, the third child of nine that were born to Selma and Theo Fladeland. In 1917, she came to Canada, more specifically south of Gladmar, with her parents, two brothers and one sister. She began her formal education at the North Gladmar School, riding a buggy for about five miles. When the Hummingbird School District was formed in 1923, she continued her schooling there, walking the half mile distance. While most children have adventures, one of Anna's was during a trip to the mine, trips that were made to pick up the mail, etc. Gram. Fladeland was driving the double buggy full of children. Anna was hanging over the side to watch the wheels go around. A big bump, and she bounced out of the buggy, landing on a rock, and split her jaw open from the bottom of her chin to the top of her lip. Bert Eidsness came to the rescue with his car and drove her to Radville where she got stitched up and back home by night. Anna married Ole Eikemo on June 27, 1933 in the parsonage in Lake Alma, a double wedding with her brother, Arthur and May (Belgard). The marriage was blessed with one son, Alvin. After the mine that Ole had was sold, they bought and moved to the Carl Dock homestead in the spring of 1944. That same spring, a prairie fire burned right through the yard, but because of a lot of wet sacks and overalls, the fire was turned past the buildings. A lot of black ground, but the buildings were saved. Anna did her part on the farm, milking cows, growing a big garden, and was always baking lots of lefsa. Visitors could often be fed some fresh lefsa, along with other "goodies". The lefsa became more available when the power and deep freezers came. Anna also served with some of the ladies groups; the War Workers, making quilts and mitts, etc. and sending them to the Red Cross in World War II, the Ladies Aid of Gladmar Lutheran Church, and the Community Club. She was treasurer for Gladmar Lutheran Church for 20 years. Anna lived mainly on the farm. Four years ago she took up residence in the Radville Marian Health Center, Radville. The funeral service for Anna Emilia Eikemo was held on Friday, November 4, at 1:30 p.m. at the Gladmar Lutheran Church, with Pastor Martin Olson Officiating. All in attendance were considered Honorary Pallbearers. The Active Pallbearers were: Louelle Fladeland, Del Fladeland, Clinton Fladeland, Paul Fladeland and Scott Fettes. Interment was in Blooming Cemetery, Gladmar. EHRHARDT - Arthur James "Pinky" Ehrhardt , late of Radville, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2007 at the age of 86 years. Arthur was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Thea Ehrhardt; his brother: Alfred Edwin Ehrhardt; sister: Adeline Myrtle Buttergeit; brother-in-laws: Carl Tangedal and Edward Vargo; sister-in-law: Bernice Bringedahl and niece: Carol Vargo. Arthur is survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha (nee: Fuhr) Ehrhardt; sons: Keith (Ann) and family, Hannah and Gavin; Glenn (Joy) and family, Brendon (fianc� Jenna), Marika, Merissa and Breanna; daughters: Joy (Paul) Olarie and family, Tamarah, Aubrey, Renae and Erin; Marcea (Dan) Malinowski and family, Dylan, Jannessa, Draden and Shaelynn; two sisters: Evelyn Tangedal and Ivadel Vargo; two brothers-in-law: Don Bringedahl and Walter "Butch" Buttergeit; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends too numerous to mention. Arthur was born and raised on the farm at Gladmar, and attended the "old" Gladmar school. He spent many years working out at various jobs, coal mining and farming before being called to serve in the Canadian Army. He served four years in Canada, England, Holland, Belgium and Germany. Upon returning home in 1948, he took over the family farm, which became one of his many passions until his passing. Other passions of Arthur's included fishing, hunting, dancing and rodeos. On June 4, 1949, Pink married his best friend Martha Fuhr and raised a family of four. They continued farming until their retirement into Gladmar. After failing health for many years, Pink and Martha only recently moved to Radville. The funeral service was held at Gladmar Lutheran Church, on Saturday, December 15, at 2:00 p.m. with Wendy Caldwell officiating. The active pallbearers were Brendon Ehrhardt, Marika Ehrhardt, Merissa Ehrhardt, Tamarah Olarie, Dylan Malinowski, Breanna Ehrhardt. Grandchildren and all in attendance were the honorary pallbearers. Interment followed at Dovre Cemetery, Gladmar. EHRHARDT - Helen Ehrhardt, of Radville, Sask. passed away on Friday, January 25, 2008 at the age of 95 years. Mary was born in Minton, Saskatchewan. She married Nick Fellner on June 19, 1944 in Pangman, Saskatchewan where they farmed and raised four sons. They moved to Regina in 1961. Mary worked as a housekeeper at the General Hospital for a number of years. She always planted a big garden and a lot of flowers. She was an excellent cook and baker. Nick passed away in 1990. Mary continued to be active in her community; she enjoyed dancing and singing, especially polkas and old-time music. On March 29, 2001, Carmen Lorraine Fettes, late of Gladmar, passed away at the Radville Marian Health Centre at the age of 74 years. Predeceased by her parents, Christian and Hilda Rude; brother Gordon Rrude and son, Garnet Fettes, September 2000. Carmen is survived by her husband, Allan Fettes of Gladmar; three sons: Dwayne (Karen) Fettes of Gladmar; Lyle Fettes of Brandon, MB; Arvon (Marie) Fettes of Radville; one daughter, Cynthia Fettes of Gladmar; grandchildren: Trina (Perry) Verhelst and their daughters Olivia ad Julia; Tyler (Lori) Fettes and their children, Cody, Cassidy, Carter and Scott; Jennifer (Barry) Van Damme; Keith Fettes and Michelle Fettes; sisters: Mildred Fettes of Regina; Corrine Bod of Regina; Heloise Merril of Edmonton, AB; brother, Dennis (Ceta) Rude of Lake Alma; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Carmen was the 5th child born to Christian and Hilda Rude on July 28, 1926 on a farm near Blooming. She went to elementary school in Blooming and attended high school in Lake Alma. Growing up, her favorite sport was baseball with back catcher being the preferred position. She also enjoyed riding horseback to get the cows. After high school, Carmen worked at the grocery store run by Jake Wong in Lake Alma. On October 8, 1948 she married Allan Dunn Fettes of Gladmar in the Lake Alma Lutheran church. Carmen and Allan have five children: four sons: Dwayne, lyle, Arvon and Garnet (who passed away September 2000) and one daughter, Cynthia. Carmen started her married life in a two room house on a farm in the Gladmar area. In 1955, they moved a larger house in from the Blooming area. She had many memories of large Christmas and Easter family gatherings there. Due to poor health, Carmen had to move into Radville Marian Health Centre in September of 2000. Crocheting and knitting were two of Carmen's favorite pastimes. There were always afghans for Christmas presents and doilies and tablecloths for wedding gifts. Her sewing machine would hum away while the buns were baking and her favorite records were playing. Carmen's home was decorated with antiques and she could pull any fancy plate or cup and saucer out of the cupboard and tell you who gave it to her and the giver's complete family history. Carmen enjoyed going to church and to Bible camp in the summer months. Bingo was a favorite way for her to spend her evenings. In her later years, crossword puzzles, visiting on the phone and playing cards helped to make her day go by. Carmen was very proud of her children's, grandchildren's and great grandchildren's accomplishments. She will truly be missed by all who knew her. A memorial service was held Monday, April 2 at 2:00 p.m. from Gladmar Lutheran Church with Pastor Jim Winters officiating. Interment followed in Gladmar cemetery. On Tuesday, September 12, 2000, Garnet Fettes, late of Gladmar, passed away at the Radville Marian Health Centre, at the age of 43 years. Garnet was born July 1, 1957 at Radville. FETTES - Mildred (nee Rude) June 7, 1918 - August 28, 2009. It is with fond memories and heavy hearts that the family of Mildred Fettes announces her passing at the age of 91 years. Mildred was born on her grandparents farm June 7, 1918 near Blooming, SK. Mildred was married to Charles in 1938 and they were blessed with four children. Shortly after their marriage, Mildred and Charles moved to the Fettes family farm in the Gladmar area. Charles also operated a custom combining business for many years traveling from Texas to Saskatchewan while Mildred managed the family farm. In 1953 they sold the farm and moved to Regina. After arriving in Regina they started Fettes Excavating which they operated from 1954 to 1962, when the business was sold. Plans of retirement were short lived; they again became involved in custom combining. Mildred traveled with Charles and the crew making many new friends along the way. After the passing of Charles in 1966 Mildred enrolled in business school and in 1968 began working in the accounting department at Percival Mercury Sales, where she remained for nine years. Mildred then moved on to work at Water Conditioning Canada in the payroll and accounting departments. After twelve enjoyable years, she retired in 1989. Subsequently, she resided in Regina and enjoyed her winters in Palm Desert, California. She is predeceased by her parents Hilda and Christian Rude; husband Charles; son Malcolm; grandson Trent; brother Gordon Rude; and sister Carmen Fettes. Mildred will be lovingly remembered by her sons Rodger (Joan) Fettes and Donald (Linda) Fettes; daughter Donna (Fred) Singer; sisters Corinne Bod and Heloise Merril; brother Dennis (Ceta) Rude; nine grandchildren, Deborah Fettes, Patricia Gingara, Wayne Fettes, William Fettes, Karen Mans, Jeffery Fettes, Gregory Fettes, Stacy Singer and Tyler Singer; twelve great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. Vern was 92 years old. She was born June 28, 1916 to John and Maria Celly at the family farm SE 32-1-18 W2 in the Sybouts District R.M. No. 8 Lake Alma. Vern married Alfred Fettes on September 29, 1938 at Sheridan County Courthouse in Plentywood, Montana. They moved to the NE 28-2-19 W2, which he was renting from Prosper Uytterhagen. In 1942 Alfred and Veronica purchased this quarter. Alfred and Veronica shared 55 years together on the farm until his passing in 1993. Veronica remained on the farm, in her own house, until late October 2008, when she then moved to the Radville Marian Health Centre and remained there until her passing. She enjoyed curling, bowling, playing cards, watching sports and Dallas on TV, crocheting and of course cooking. She loved company, whether it was family, friends or a stranger and always made everyone feel at home. Coffee and food were always on hand and she always made sure everyone was well fed before they left. Veronica was predeceased by her husband Alfred; daughter, Dorothy; son, Terrance; parents, John and Marie Celly; parents-in-law, Jack and Maggie Fettes; 5 sisters, Anna, Maria, Celia, Mary and Helen; 1 brother John; brothers-in-law, Edward LaBatte, Don Boyd, Willie Duthie, Jack Fettes, Allan Fettes and Charlie Kaufmann; sisters-in-law, Elaine Kaufmann, Carmen Fettes and Gladys Fettes; as well as many numerous friends and members of the Fettes and Celly families. Maryann was born in Sedley, SK, on September 10, 1912. She married Joseph Frischholz on June 1, 1931. They lived on a homestead south of Minton until 1963 at which time they retired to Minton. In 1993, Maryann moved to Regina to live with her daughter Margaret until 1998 when she took up residence at the Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home. Mary held memberships with the C.W.L. for both Christ the King R.C. Church and St. Eugene R.C. Church. Maryann touched the lives of many over the last 89 years and she will be sadly missed by all who knew her. GERGER - Jacob Gerger passed away peacefully at the age of 83 years on December 5, 2001 at Regina General Hospital with his family by his side. Predeceased by his mother, father and a brother, he is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Rose, and their children: Eva (Dwaine) Carpenter, Herb (Joan) Gerger, Rose Marie (Emile) Mazenc, and Jack (Bonny) Gerger; grandchildren, David (Eliza), Michael, and Amanda Carpenter; Laura, Craig, and Katherine Mazenc; Daniel, Courtney, and Stephanie Gerger; sister Eva Zugfil of Germany, special niece Violet (Horst) Habermehl, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jacob was born in Romania on April 22, 1918. He emigrated to Canada in 1952 and worked as a heavy duty mechanic in Minton, SK. The following year he married Rose Klug and they began their farming career, later moving to the Khedive area, where they lived and raised their family. In 1979 they moved to Weyburn, and later to Regina in 1994. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 10 at 10:30 AM at the Holy Cross Parish, 315 Douglas Ave. E. Regina, SK with Rev. On Saturday, December 22nd, 2001, Barbara Gold, late of Regina, SK., passed away at the age of 92 years. Predeceased by her husbands William Behrenshausen and Joseph Gold, her parents, Konrad and Magdelena Mai, brothers, Michael and Konrad; Barbara is survived by her loving children, Dorothy (Bill) Axten, Marion Chabros, Kon (Lorna) Behrenshausen, and Doug (Sandy) Gold; 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. GRUBER - Allan Gruber, late of Gladmar, passed away peacefully at the Radville Marian Health Centre with his family by his side on April 3, 2015. He passed away after a brief battle with cancer at the age of 70. Allan is predeceased by his wife Shirley (Fettes); parents John and Mary (Lech) Gruber; father-in-law Alfred Fettes; mother-in-law Veronica (Celly) Fettes; sister-in-law Dorothy Fettes, and brother-in-law Terrance Fettes. Allan is survived by his daughter Marnie Gruber; brother John (Lise) Gruber; sisters Marilyn (Allan) Johnson, Laurieanne (Marv) Lynn and Marianne Gruber; nephew Michel Gruber; as well as numerous friends and members of the Gruber and Fettes families. Allan was born on April 2, 1945, in Gravelbourg, to John and Mary Gruber. He grew up at the family farm near Glen Bain, alongside his four siblings. He took his schooling in Vanguard. After quitting school he went to work at the Glen Bain Co-op. In 1963 he transferred to the Gladmar Co-op where he began working with Shirley Fettes. He managed the bulk station, lumber yard, drove fuel truck and later on managed the grocery and hardware departments as well.In 1971, Allan married Shirley Fettes at the courthouse in Estevan and the two moved to Riceton, where Al managed and Shirley worked at the Co-op store there. In 1973 he and Shirley returned to Shirley�s family�s farm at Gladmar. He then started a trenching business. Al and Shirley worked side-by-side putting in water and sewer to small towns like Halbrite and Khedive as well as many farms. In 1979 their only child Marnie was born. Since Shirley now stayed home to look after Marnie, Al sold the trenching business and bought two trucks. He and Donald Martin hauled coal from Estevan to the Sybouts Sulphate Mine and clay from Rockglen to Estevan. In 1984, Al and Shirley purchased some land from her father and began farming. In 1986, Al purchased a grader, cat and buggy and started doing road construction and digging dugouts. In the early 1990�s he sold the road equipment and purchased two water trucks from Allan and Gail DeBruyne. Later on he purchased some oil tankers and Lynlee LaBatte pulled them for him while he continued working with the smaller water trucks. He hauled oil and water in the Gladmar and Minton fields. In the early 2000�s Al decided to quit working in the oil field and sold the tankers and later on the truck. After leaving the oilfield he continued to farm. In August of 2014 Shirley passed away and Al continued living on the farm until he was hospitalized in January of 2015. Al was very involved with the community and was on the Gladmar Park Board, Minton-Gladmar Credit Union Board and was RM Councillor until his passing. He was a good neighbor to everyone; always willing to lend a hand if someone needed it. He was always fixing something for the town or the RM or a neighbor. He really enjoyed being involved with the RM and never missed a meeting until he became ill. While Shirley loved farming, Al loved being in his shop or out in the yard fixing or cleaning. He could be found most of the time in his shop working on something or having a break reading a book and having a smoke. He loved to read and when cleaning his shop we found boxes of books, all of which he had read. He also loved the summer and being out in the yard planting flowers or the garden and weeding. He was a perfectionist and he took pride in the work he did, be it weeding the yard, organizing his shop or fixing something for someone. He also enjoyed playing cards and there were many a poker game under his belt. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke you knew what he was thinking. He enjoyed visiting, but was not the social butterfly that Shirley was. He had a very dry sense of humor and always a one liner coming out of his mouth. Cremation has taken place and a Service of Remembrance will be held at a later date. HANSON - Gladys (nee Bod) Hanson passed away suddenly and peacefully on April 27, 2003 at her daughter's home in Regina. Gladys was predeceased by her parents Carl and Christine Bod; husband Carl Hanson; sister Agnes (John Stepp); brothers Wallace, Sydney (Frances), Roy and Clifford Bod; granddaughters Lori and Leslie Hanson. Gladys is survived by her children: Lorne (Charlene) Hanson, Cheryl Hanson (Jerry Spinarski), Keith (Janice) Hanson, Glenda Hanson (Alan Jensen) and Curtis Hanson, grandchildren: Christine (Kevin) Daae, Kirby (Laura) Hanson, Karissa Hanson (Vance Gnyp), Jodi (Darren) Abel, Wes (Paula) Hanson, Marty and Steven Hanson, Liam Hanson-Jensen, Katie Bonokoski and Isaiah Geisel; great grandchildren: Austin Daae, Dustin and Ryan Stepp, Connor and Shaylynn Hanson, Braden Hanson-Gnyp, Tatum and Piper Abel and Mia and Abby Hanson; sisters-in-law Corinne Bod and Clara Bod, Mamie Hanson and Thelma Kjersem; numerous relatives and friends. Her family grieves the loss of the most wonderful and unforgettable woman to have graced our lives. Mom was born June 7, 1918 and was raised in the Fairlawn and Gladmar areas. She was the second eldest in a family of six children born to Carl and Christine Bod, pioneer settlers of the area. Mom valued her growing up years in these communities and remained lifelong friends with many from this time. Despite the hardships of the depression years, Mom successfully completed a teacher's certificate at Normal School in Moose Jaw. She worked for her board and borrowed her tuition fee from her Aunt Ellen of Chicago. Mom taught at a number of schools for six years. In 1943, mom bought her first car, a Ford Coupe, which she called "Pot of Gold." With her meager earnings, she began what would become a lifelong interest in beautiful clothes and accessories. She developed at an early age, her shopping philosophy, which was to focus on the savings and not the actual amount spent. During the war years from 1939 to 1945, Mom exchanged letters with Carl Hanson who was serving overseas. During that time they fell in love. They were married December 1, 1945, shortly after his discharge from the army. In 1949, they settled in Torquay. Mom and Dad raised five children in this town they loved so much. Mom actively participated in church and community organizing contributing and baking for everything from the curling rink to church events. Mom was a go-er and a do-er and was never too tired or too busy to participate in family, friends, church or community events. Mom loved to sew and often did so after midnight as this was when her time was not committed to others. Mom was always active with her family, her friends, her community and her church. She had a zest for life and celebrated each day that she was able to be with others and busy with some activity. Mom substitute taught in Torquay and Mount Green schools. Later, she worked full time at the Torquay Credit Union for 14 years with her good friend, Kay Tenold. She retired when she was 60 years old and Mom and Dad spent their retirement years travelling in Canada and the United States. Mom and Dad had 35 years of happily married life when Dad died post open-heart surgery May 18, 1981. After Dad's death, Mom travelled with family and friends to Europe, Scandinavia, Hawaii, Mexico, United States and Canada. Mom moved to Trinity Towers in Estevan in June of 2000 because her reduced vision no longer enabled her to safely drive. She participated in all of the residential and church events, made new friends and continued to celebrate her friendships of many years. Mom loved living at Trinity Towers but continued to grieve the loss of her driver's license and her car. Because we lost our Dad so many years ago, our Mom, whom we already adored, became even more important to us. We willed her to live to at least 100 years of age and she was quite willing to do so but her body was tired. Her spirit lives on in us. Most of the sympathy cards we received talked about Mom being such a special lady...always having time for others and making the effort to nurture family and friendships. Many recalled that she was never critical of others...always looking for the good in people....and making it known how proud she was of her children and their spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was indeed our "Spirit of Gentleness" and we miss her so. Her legacy to her family is to love each other, love life, to contribute to community and to believe in God. Mom had great joy of life but also had no fear of death as she viewed it as a gift from God to be reunited with loved ones and her Lord. Mom continues to hold us as we wrap ourselves up in the quilts that she made for us. We are comforted and reminded that she lives on in each one of us. She is unforgettable in every way. On Tuesday, July 8, 2003, Otto John Hersche, late of Weyburn, passed away at the Weyburn General Hospital at the age of 79 years. Predeceased by his father and mother, Basilius (1971) and Marianna (1991) Hersche. Otto is survived by his wife of 53 years, Louise of Weyburn and their three sons: Robert (Virginia) of Regina and their family: Timothy and Daniel; Gary (Mary) of Saskatoon and their family: Alison, David and Kevin; Ronald (Kathy) of Airdrie, AB, and their family: Erik and Taylor; four brothers: Joe of Saskatoon; Demil of Windsor, ON; Ambrose (Margo) of Regina; Bill (Shirley) of Edmonton, AB; three sisters: Ida Mai of Windsor, ON; Dorothy (Ray) Andrews of Evansville, Indiana, USA; Anna Marie (Jim) McDonough of Ottawa, ON; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and good friends. Otto Hersche was born in Kresna, Basarabia (now Romania) on October 29, 1923 and departed this earth on July 8, 2003 at the age of 79. Otto came to Canada with his family at the age of six years. The family settled at their homestead near Minton. He attended Jutland School until the age of 16 at which time he started his working life. This working life included work at the Big Muddy coal mines, truck driving and oil well drilling, however, Otto spent most of his working career at the Sybouts Sodium Sulfate mine near Gladmar. On April 17, 1950, Otto married Louise DeRoose. Together they raised three children, Robert (Bob), Gary and Ronald (Ron). Otto and Louise lived and worked at Sybouts for approximately 40 years until retiring in 1988, at which time they moved to Weyburn. At Sybouts, Otto started at the bottom and through his hard work, commitment and dedication advanced his career to plant manager. Through the years at Sybouts, many people had a chance to work with and for Otto. To this day, they all still admire his fairness, honesty, commitment and work ethic. He was a co-worker and supervisor who would never ask someone to do something he wasn't prepared to do himself. Otto's skills with a metal lathe and with a welder were always in demand. Many a farmer in the area came calling on these skills. Even though these requests took Otto away from his personal time, he could never say 'no' when someone asked for help. Otto was happy and content in his retirement. The move to Weyburn enabled him to re-establish old friendships and initiate new ones. His time was spent gardening, fishing, playing horseshoes and visiting with friends on coffee row. Retirement also gave Otto time to spend with family. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Otto John Hersche touched the hearts and lives of many people. His life can be measured as a success as his contributions in life have truly made the world a better place. He will live in our hearts and minds forever. Prayers were said Friday, July 11, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. from Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, with Mary Anne Seitz lay presider. The funeral mass was held Saturday, July 12 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn, with Father Albert Schmitz Celebrant. Interment followed in Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Weyburn. The honorary pallbearers were his godchildren: Helen Chickete, Joey McLeod, Michael Mack, Sally Nameth, Marlene Stacey, Eugene Rainville and Carrie Hlavka. The active pallbearers were; Hartley Tessier, Brian Tessier, Cory Petterson, Joe Hersche Jr, James Hersche, and Gerald Rainville. HIBBARD - Florence Kathrina (nee Talenga). It is with great sadness that the family of Florence Kathrina Hibbard announce her passing on June 25, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. Florence was predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Myrtle Telenga; her sisters, Victoria and Georgina, her brothers, Floyd and Jerome and her grandson Tyrel. Florence will be lovingly remembered by her family: son, Glenn (Sharon) Hibbard of Minton and daughter Wanda (Bill) Fraser of Craven; grandchildren, Kim (Brian) Cook and daughter Jasmine; Kristy (Jarrad) Skuce and children; Mackenzie, Logan, Kaitlyn, Spencer; Cherie (Cory) Roysum and children, Cheyanne, Jens, Ty; Brad (Megan) Hibbard; sister Gloria (Bruce) Patchett; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Telenga and Vera Telenga as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Florence Kathrina Telenga was born on November 19, 1923 in Big Beaver, SK. At age five she lost her eye in a screen door accident. Her glass eye was something all of her grandchildren will never forget especially on sleepovers. Florence took her schooling at Beaver Creek School. She loved nature and used any excuse she could to be outside. She especially liked working with cattle with her dad. When Florence was a young girl a neighbour gave her a calf to care for and she began building up her cattle herd. Florence loved horseback riding and made many a trip to the Morrisson farm where her friend Florence Galbraith would join her for a ride. Florence loved music and played the violin at many school house dances. She herself loved to dance especially a good old time polka. She taught her grandchildren how to dance. Florence married Vernon Hibbard on November 19, 1947 in Plentywood, Mont. There first winter was a bad one and they spent it with Vernon's folks and Florence's folks. The following summer they bought a house and moved it into Minton. They lived in that house until 1972 when they bought a more modern home. Florence and Vernon had two children, Glenn Wayne born on June 19, 1950 and Wanda Lou born on August 4, 1953. Florence always grew a big garden and did lots of canning and freezing. She loved working out in the yard and loved looking after her flowers and cutting the grass. Florence was very crafty. She learnt how to knit, crochet and embroider at school. She made many special mementos for her family, sywash sweaters, afghans, dolies, doll clothes, pot holders to name a few. She sewed many quilts and made many of her own clothes. She also did plastic canvas work. These past few years Florence and her sister-in-law Evelyn made knitted afghan squares that they gave to Eastern Star and these squares were put together for Victims Services and Families First. In the early seventies Vernon and Florence started to do more travelling and spent some time in Arizona in the winter. A special trip for Florence was the trip they made to Alaska and she had always hoped to go back there someday. After she and Vernon divorced Florence sold her house in Minton moving to an apartment in Weyburn in November of 1986. She lived in three different apartments while in Weyburn, the last one being close to downtown. Florence walked everywhere she needed to go. The last several years a walker was her mode of transportation. Florence and her sister-in-law Evelyn made miles with their walkers even during rain and snow. They went outdoors everyday. Florence loved to play Bingo. Whoever came to visit on Bingo night whether they came from near or far she hurried them out the door so she wouldn't miss the big game. She also loved to play the machines at the casinos, but she sure hated to lose. Florence joined Eastern Star in 1961 affiliating with Weyburn in 1989. The Eastern Star meetings were a very important part of her life. She held a chair every year until Tyrel got sick. A special highlight for Florence was to travel to Saskatoon to attend her daughter Wanda's installation as Worthy Grand Matron for Eastern Star in May of 2009. Florence enjoyed having coffee and visiting with all her special friends. She always told them about her family. Coffee time was always at the Mall or the Co-op, which worked out well because if she wasn't at home everyone knew where to find her. Florence had many ups and downs in her life. Losing her grandson Tyrel at such a young age was one of the hardest. A piece of her heart was always missing as it was hard to watch Tyrel suffer. In July of 2009 Florence was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. So for the past year she has been fighting the biggest battle of her life. Florence always showed a strong and brave front for her family. She told them that maybe what she had to go through would help someone else. In early February Florence moved into the Weyburn Special Care Home, so that she could have more care available to her daily. The first few months in the home she enjoyed visiting and meeting old friends, but as the cancer progressed she gradually got weaker and lost interest in everything. The highlights of Florence's life were her children and grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Florence was so excited when her great grandsons Spencer and Ty were born in the spring. She told everyone they came to take her place. Florence loved the little great grandkids. They each got a special part of her time and attention. She loved to get down on the floor even at 86 years old and play with them at their level. Grandma Florence was a good listener and was never too busy to chat for a while when any of her grandkids would call. Florence was a very special lady. She was a good woman, a hard working, genuine down to earth, take me as I am kind of person. We her family will miss her very much. She played such an important role in our lives. But memories are a precious thing and we have plenty of those to cherish! We will share our memories of her with others. After all the love she gave to her family Florence is now at peace and watching over us from above. Weyburn. HIBBARD - Tyrel James. It is with great sadness that the family of Tyrel James Hibbard announce his passing. Tyrel James Hibbard, late of Kamsack, passed away at the age of 29 years on Tuesday, May 14, 2002. He was predeceased by his grandmother Beatrice and father Ron. Tyrel is survived by his mother Wanda; stepfather Bill, grandmother Florence, grandfathers Vernon and Wilford; step grandmother Freda; stepbrother Bill and his children Cory, Tyler and Kristen; step-sisters Marie (Ram) and their daughter Jasmine and Diana (Lorne) and their daughters Kea and Paige; Uncle Glenn and Auntie Sharon and their children Kim (Brian), and their daughter Jasmine, Kristy (Jarrad), Cherie (Cory), and Brad, Aunt Judy and Uncle Les, Aunt Christine and Uncle Brian and Aunt Betty and Uncle Dennis as well as special friends Mike, Carmen and Darren. Tyrel James Hibbard was born August 2, 1972 at the Regina General Hospital. The first seven years of his life were spent in Minton. He was very close to his mom, Wanda, his grandparents, Vernon and Florence and his aunt and uncle and cousins. Tyrel loved to play with his cousins and to stay with Grandpa Vernon and Grandma Florence and he especially enjoyed Grandpa Vernon's shishkabobs and special pancakes. He loved to spend time at the shop and was his grandpa's little shadow. When Tyrel was in grade two he moved to Weyburn. He attended school in Weyburn and also enjoyed playing hockey. Tyrel loved coming back to Minton for summer holidays to visit Grandpa and Grandma Hibbard, and he also enjoyed spending time at the farm with Uncle Glenn and Auntie Sharon. In later years he and his mom moved to Saskatoon. At the time of his passing Tyrel resided near Kamsack with his Mom and stepfather Bill. The Kamsack Hospital was Tyrel's second home and the nurses and staff there were so good to him. Tyrel, a very special young man was known to his family and friends as Ty and to his little niece Jasmine as Uncle Ty. He was gifted with many talents. He loved to sketch and draw and he was quite musical. Tyrel suffered with diabetes for 17 years. This disease with all its complications eventually took his sight and a year ago he lost his left leg. Tyrel had so much strength and courage. Many times he would say, "They can take my eyes, they can take my legs, but they can't take me," and he would place his hands on his chest. Nothing could ever take his "spirit." Tyrel accepted and adjusted to the loss of his leg very well. He was very independent, always trying to do for himself no matter how big the task was. Whether it was getting in and out of his wheelchair or just eating a meal, he would say "I can do it." If you did something for him he was very thankful and appreciative. He never complained and he accepted his many problems. His attitude was "That's the way it is ." Tyrel filled many of his long days with listening to music or playing his drums. He was very particular about his CDs and tapes and didn't like anyone touching them. Tyrel was a "people" collector. He had such a "Big" heart. He loved spending time with his friends. He had so many "good" friends who would come to visit him or come to take him along with them. For Tyrel his friends were his eyes. A special highlight for him as to go to the Minnedosa Rock Festival on the August long weekend with Billy. He looked forward to it for months. After a long stay in the hospital he could hardly wait to get home to Gretta, his bulldog. She comforted him many times and was a constant companion even though Tyrel loved to torment her. When Tyrel was too stick to get out of bed Gretta would sit at the foot of his bed just to be near him. Tyrel thought a lot of his cousins, Kim, Kristy, Cherie and Brad and was so happy he was able to attend Brad's graduation and Cherie and Cory's wedding. Sometimes when he was having a very hard day it was Grandma Florence he called. She comforted him and she had a special way of always making him feel so much better. Grandpa Vernon was there by his side many times when he had a long stay in the hospital. Tyrel had so many people who cared about him. When the time came for him to be on dialysis his cousin Monique was someone he could confide in and talk to. Monique could understand better than anyone what Tyrel was going through, as she herself has been on dialysis for many years now. His family was very important to him, especially his Mom and Bill; Billy, Marie (Ram), and little Jasmine. They were always there to help him through all the bad days when he was so sick. They were his support during the long trips from Kamsack to Regina for dialysis, and many, many times through the night when he would call. His mom was always there to help him into the tub or to give him her special back rub and to listen to him on the days when he was feeling so down - always there whenever he needed her - always there with her unconditional love. His "Mother's Love" saw Tyrel through many a "Dark" day. The last words Tyrel said to his Mom on Tuesday morning were, "Mom, I am so sorry that I kept you up all night." If Tyrel could have had but one wish it would have been to have his sight back so that he could see again. Tyrel passed away enroute to the hospital for dialysis on Tuesday, May 14. At last he is at peace and doesn't have to suffer anymore. Tyrel taught us all a good many things. The most important things in life aren't things at all. His life was a special gift to all of us and he will never be forgotten. We, his family, have so many special memories to treasure. He made us all realize the importance of the little things in life that we all take for granted and that we should live each day to the fullest. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Lee Funeral Home in Regina. An open visitation was held Thursday, May 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Lee Funeral Home. A graveside service was held Friday, May 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Minton Chapel Grove Cemetery, Minton, with Shelby Kinrade, officiating. A time of fellowship and refreshments followed in the Minton Elks Hall. At last Tyrel is finally free of pain and suffering and can now enjoy his new home with God. HOFFART - Jacob "Jake" Hoffart (May 24, 1928 - March 2, 2010). It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Jake passed away at the Regina Pasqua Hospital after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Jake will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years Marie (Stefan) and five children: Betty Anne Fornwald and children Megan and Evan; Marilyn (Brian) Tessier and children Danielle (Brett) Park and Michelle; Glen (Jacquie Prentice); Kelly (Wendy) and children Jarrett, Dylan and Taylor; Dennis (Shannon) and children Renee and Raelyn; as well as his special four-legged friend Taz. He also leaves to mourn a brother Kundus (Lynne) and two sisters Caroline (Don) Peterson, and Bernice Steman, sisters & brothers-in-law, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. Jake is predeceased by his parents John and Philimena (Melle) Hoffart and brothers and sisters Eva, Vincent, Joseph, Rose Portman, Helen Beckers, Pauline Wheeler, and Mary Beckers. Jake was born on the family farm southwest of Minton, loved the outdoors and began a lifelong passion with nature, farming and animals, especially cattle. He attended elementary school at Jutland and Herald schools, then moved on to attend high school at Campion in Regina. After his brief stint of city life, Jake immediately knew that country living was where he wanted to be and he started working at the local grain elevator and began his career in farming. On November 9, 1955 Jake married the love of his life Marie who had grown up on a nearby farm. They continued to farm (grain and cattle) with pride and raise five children together in the Minton area. Service to his community was very important to him as he belonged to the Radville School Division Board for 20+ years as well the MintonGladmar Credit Union for 10+ years. He was also a lifetime member of the Elks of Canada helping to build the community's curling rink, swimming pool and was involved in many other activities over the years as well. In 1994, Jake and Marie moved to Regina where he considered himself semi-retired but still continued to help at his sons' and son in laws' farms whenever he had the chance. He enjoyed going to the Victoria Square mall for daily walks and visiting with the gang at coffee row. His quick wit and friendly nature made for plenty of great story telling. Many thanks to the wonderful doctors, nurses and support staff who took such great care of Jake during his stay at the General and Pasqua hospitals. Your kindness will not be forgotten. Burial will be done at a later date. HOFFART - Leo Hoffart was born on February 15, 1924 to Frank and Katharine Hoffart on the homestead near Minton. He farmed with his dad until starting his own place in 1945. He batched with his brother, Pete. He was hailed out 100% on 50 acres the first year he farmed. He married Ida Strobel on July 8, 1952. To this union 8 children were born-4 girls and 4 boys, with 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Marie is married to Wayde Hanson. They have three girls, Terra, Kim and Crystal. Terra is married to Travis Wiebe and they have two girls, Makenna and Rya. Darlene is married to Armand Delanoy and they have two children, Travis and Trina. Elaine is married to Garnet Roysum and they have three children: Cory, Shane and Megan. Cory is married to Cherie. Neil is married to Wendy and they have two children: Michelle and Jeffery. Ron is married to Dagen and they have two children: Shae and Kailyn. Brian is married to Michele and they have on daughter, Tayler. Frank is married to Kathy and they have two children, Michelle and Jeff. Michelle is married to Bill and they have two children, Megan and William. Leona is married to Lance Fleck and they have two children, Dyllan and Brittney. In 1994, Leo and Ida moved to Weyburn where he presently resided. They spent many happy hours dancing-square dancing and old time dancing-one of the many things they loved to do together. Leo and Ida were always together doing many things, including hanging the clothes out on the line. Every morning at 6 A.M. they would rise and watch the mass on TV together, then go back to bed for a couple of hours. Leo would say, "What you got planned for the dad Mom?" and they would plan their activities for the day. Many afternoons were spent socializing on coffee row or out for brunch after church of Sunday with all of their friends and acquaintances. Leo was famous for grabbing a stool in the middle of the mall and visiting with anyone who walked by. He knew so many people everywhere. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, Radville Council and a member of the School Board in Minton for years. Family was of prime importance to him. He loved nothing better than to have all of his children and their families around him laughing and visiting and he missed anyone who wasn't there. He called all of his grandchildren 'sweethearts'. Dad opened his arms to all of his sons and daughters-in-law with unconditional love and acceptance as if they were his own children. Leo never left the house without kissing Ida good-bye or went to sleep without kissing her and telling her he loved her. That love spread to all of the children and there are always lots of hugs and kisses. Leo was a worrier, he worried about everybody and everything. Everyday he phoned his kids sometimes 3-4 times a day and he'd be checking on the farm activities with Ron and Frank. He delighted in driving down to the farm with Ida to look at crops and check out the cows. Baseball was his favourite sport to watch on TV and his favorite team was the Toronto Blue Jays. He also spent many hours watching his grandchildren play sports. Leo had a wonderful sense of humour, always making jokes with everyone around him. The grandchildren will never forget having their muscles blown up and the words in German he taught them. When he wanted another cup of coffee he'd say 'Warm your up sir?' Leo was a man with great wisdom and faith and will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. We love you Dad and we will miss you greatly. Peter's greatest joys were his wife and family and being able to share a smile with them. Peter's sense of humor never wavered. HOLMES - Robert "Bob" Guy Holmes, born May 21, 1926 in Frobisher, Sask., passed away at Parkside Extendicare on Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at the age of 78 years. Survived by his two daughters, Beverly (Stan) Niebergall of Wawota and Bonnie (Ron) MacGillivray of Vankleek Hill, ON; son Lloyd (Karen) Holmes of Regina; nine grandchildren; thirteen greatgrandchildren; son-in-law Len Bagu of Kipling Sask.; one sister Melba Koczka; two sisters-in-law Grace Holmes and Lena Serge; one brother-in-law Al (Audrey) Rettman, all of Regina several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob was predeceased by his parents Guy and Emma (Byers) Holmes; one brother Russell. In his younger years he farmed in the Minton, Big Beaver and Kipling areas. Bob was employment with the City of Regina, in Parks and Recreation for twenty-five years. Interment in Minton Cemetery at 5:00 p.m. JACOBS - Mickel Levi Jacobs passed peacefully from this life on Thursday, March 13, 2003 in a Regina hospital following two emergency surgeries on Sunday, March 2, 2003. He was born on September 15, 1916 at Minton, the sixth son of Lewis and Allie Jacobs. They had immigrated to Canada from West Virginia in 1913 by way of South Dakota, settling first at Colgate, then in the spring of 1916 to Minton. Mickel attended Glencurren and Jutland schools in the Gladmar/Minton area through the ninth grade. In 1930 he attended the Minton Bible School conducted by Charles Petch and Wilfred Orr. In 1935 he attended the Ogema Bible School with J. C. Bailey. He then worked for about eight years on his parents' farm. During this time he made a short trip to Ontario, working on a farm there. For seven years he was employed by Ivar Axten of Minton hauling gasoline from Moose Jaw and Regina to several communities in southern Saskatchewan. In 1945, he and his brother Earl, did road construction work in northern Saskatchewan before returning to operate the family farm with his brother Floyd. During these years, he went custom combining in the USA. When Floyd moved to Manitoba in 1952, Mickel continued operating the farm and ranch until his retirement in 1985, which by this time had grown to encompass 19 quarter sections of land with about 1400 acres of grain farming and nearly 200 head of cattle. Mickel enjoyed sports of all kinds, especially hockey, softball, curling, hunting and trapping. During one season he shot and trapped over 500 rabbits. He enjoyed travelling. He visited Hawaii, New Zealand, the Holy Lands, and travelled extensively in Canada and the USA. Mickel Jacobs was predeceased by his parents, Lewis and Allie Jacobs; a brother, Raymond in 1934; a sister, Louise Andreas in 1978; a brother, Earl in 1983; a brother, Clarence in 1989 (Hannah, 1946); a sister, Marian Goud in 1996 (Emerson, 1978); a brother-in-law, Quinton Rudebusch in 1978; and sisters-in-law, Jessie in 2000 and Grace in 2003. He leaves to mourn his passing four brothers: Manley of Elkhorn, MB; Gilbert of Elkhorn, MB; Allen (Betty) of Burnaby, BC, and Floyd (Marian) of Dauphin, MB; a sister, Evelyn Bowdren of Brooksville, Florida; a sister-in-law Muriel of Vernon, BC; and a brother-in-law Ernest Andreas (Joyce) of Edmond, Oklahoma; along with many nieces and nephews and a host of friends everywhere. "M.L." or "Uncle Mickel," as he was affectionately called by many, will be remembered for his generous involvement and service to his community. He served, often anonymously, his neighbors or others in need. Publicly, he served on the Radville District School Board from 1946 to 1955; on the Rural Municipality of Surprise Valley Council from 1983-1984; and on the Big Muddy Cattlemen's Association Board from 1949 to 1954. Mickel Jacobs was baptized during a gospel meeting conducted at the Glencurren schoolhouse by Brother J.C. Bailey in 1928. Since then, he has been an active member of the Church of Christ involved in preaching and teaching Bible classes at Lake Alma until the mid-fifties and then with the church in Plentywood, Montana for more than 30 years. Since 1984, he has been active in the Weyburn Church of Christ. Mickel was a generous supporter of many missions around the world. He also supported Christian Education and bible camps, specifically through Western Christian College and Clearview Bible Camp. He especially enjoyed helping kids to go to camps and providing financial assistance for many students to attend Western Christian and other colleges. Scott Wade officiated at the funeral service held March 17 at the Weyburn Church of Christ. Lowell Peterson lead the congregational singing and prayers were lead by Bill Bell and Roger Peterson with Ernest Andreas presenting the eulogy. Gerald Howard, Jack Floer, Milton Hunter, Bill Axten, Winston Bailey and Garth Oberkirsch served as pallbearers. Interment was later that afternoon in Gladmar Cemetery with Allen Jacobs offering committal remarks. KAIP - Frank William Kaip passed away peacefully at the Lumsden and District Heritage Home on April 13, 2010. Frank was born in Minton, Saskatchewan, on March 4, 1915 to Matthias and Katherina (Focht) Kaip. He lived in Saskatchewan for all of his 95 years, living half is life in or near the Village of Minton and half his life in Regina. Frank is predeceased by his beloved wife, Katie, who passed away in 1992. He is also predeceased by his brothers Matt, Joe, Lawrence and Phillip. Frank is survived by his sons Matt (Carol) and Frank (Bonnie), grandchildren Jim (Wanda), Doug (Bev), Kelly, and Matt (Joy), and great-grandchildren Steven, Spencer, Kayla, Karyn and Naiomi. Frank attended Jutland Elementary School and then went on to earn his Grade 11 at London School. Frank married Katherine Klein (affectionately known as Katie) on April 10, 1939. He farmed from 1939 to 1946 outside of Minton. He and Katie moved into Minton in 1946, enjoyed raising their two sons in a small town atmosphere. In 1963, they moved to Regina. Frank worked for the Provincial Health Department until his retirement in 1980. Before Katie passed away, she and Frank enjoyed traveling, music (especially old-time music) and sports. They always welcomed company to their home. They loved to share stories with friends about their families. Frank was remarkable for his integrity, his commitment to his family, as well as his great sense of humor and intellectual curiosity. He was an avid reader and loved to do crossword puzzles. He was amazing in that he managed to live on his own to the ripe old age of 93. He then moved to the Lumsden and District Heritage Home. What was most remarkable about Frank as a father, and later a grandfather and greatgrandfather, was that everything always had to be exactly equal and fair in the family. Both he and Katie taught us of the value of fairness, loyalty, compassion and family. We will miss him. A tribute to Frank will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the Legion Hall in Lumsden, Saskatchewan. Those wishing are invited to share memories of Frank during the service. KAIP - Katherine Eleanor (nee Schikurski) Kaip, born November 22, 1914 in Ambrose, North Dakota, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2005 at the age of 90 years at the Weyburn Special Care Home, Weyburn. She leaves to mourn her son: Gerald (Katherine); her grandchildren: Chris, Russell (Sandra), Virginia (Simon) Gordon, and Janet (Mark) Thompson; her great grandchildren: Ryan, Steven, Eric, Michael, Amanda, Adam, Simon Jr., Chelsey, Stephainie, Michelle, and Jeremiah; her sisters: Regina, Mary, Sophie, Amelia, Veronica, and Agnes; her brother: Frank; and her faithful sister-in-law, Eleanora Schikurski. She was predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Felicia Schikurski; her husband, Frank Matthew (Mike) Kaip; and her brother: Jacob Schikurski. She came to Canada with her parents, sisters and brother March 11, 1930. On her eighteenth birthday, November 22, 1932, she married her husband, Frank. They then took over the family farm south of Minton. In 1950, after several moves, they moved into Minton. They operated a caf� as well as farming. In 1959, they sold the cafe and moved in with Katherine's mother. Some years later they built a new house. Her home was always open to anyone wanting a good meal or a game of cards. She was an excellent cook and loved to garden. In February, 1990 she moved into Weyburn Legion Towers. There she made many friends and continued to enjoy cooking for her family and card playing friends. Due to ill health she took up residence at the Weyburn Special Care Home in April 2002 where she received excellent care until the time of her passing. KAUFMANN - Elaine V. (nee Fettes), late of Bison Manor, Weyburn,passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at the age of 79 years. Elaine was predeceased by her husband, Charles; her parents, Maggie and Jack Fettes; her brothers: Alfred, Jack and Allan Fettes; three sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law. Elaine will be lovingly remember by her children: Ryan (Desmond) McKenzie, Tribune and their children: Leslie (Rob), Holly and Reed; Keith (Linda) Kaufmann, Ceylon and their children: Shane (Alexis) and their children [Keaton, Kamrie and Kohen] and Stacey; Margo Kaufmann, Edmonton, AB and her children: Jayne (Craig) and their son, [Nash] and Charles; Trudy Kaufmann, Calgary, AB; two sisters: Gertie Boyd, London, ON and Mary Duthie, Weyburn; a brother, Norman Fettes, Assiniboia; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; as well as many nieces, nephews and special friends. Elaine was born on June 27, 1928 at the family farm, southwest of Gladmar. She was the youngest child of Jack and Maggie Fettes. Elaine attended Hummingbird country school and finished her high school in Minton. Elaine married Charlie Kaufmann on June 30, 1949. They lived on a farm southwest of Ceylon where they raised their family of four children. Charlie died in April of 1971 and Elaine and her youngest daughter, Trudy, moved to Weyburn in the fall. Elaine worked at Souris Valley Extended Care Hospital as a nurse's aid. She also worked at Eaton's in the furniture department and at the Weyburn Coop Lumber Yard. Elaine was a member of the CWL and the Royal Purple for many years. Her special interests included cooking, canning, baking, knitting and playing cards. One of our favorite childhood memories is of coming home from school to the aroma of freshly baked bread. Her cinnamon buns were truly amazing. She will be remembered by her children as a wonderful mother, filled with inspiration, unconditional love and encouragement. She brightened many lives with her warmth, joy and laughter. Some days she was a confidante, listening to their troubles, some days she was their audience, applauding their accomplishments. She was a shoulder to lean on and even some days, the gentle push they needed to go on. Her kids are so proud of her for her inner strength and independence. She was a woman of honor and integrity. She truly knew the meaning of living one day at a time. Her friends at the Manor will always remember her for her cheery morning phone calls of encouragement, her spirit for playing cards, her perfect crib hand last fall and her daily taxi to the Dairy Queen. Floer December 22, 1949 and they made their home on Fort Comfort Ranch at Minton, until Frank's death in 1987. Dorothy then married Robert Kohaly and since made their home in Vineland, Ontario. A reception followed in the Tallman Fireside Room. KOHL - Marion Laferne. On May 21, 2004, Marion Laferne Kohl, age 91 years, passed away with her family by her side. Predeceased by her husband Leslie Kohl; and brother Elmer Adams; brothers-in-law John Kohl, Nick Fellner; and sister-in-law Margaret Fellner. KRANTZ - Gilbert Murray Krantz, age 83, passed peacefully with his loving family at his side, into the arms of his loving Savior on August 30, 2009 after a courageous year long battle with cancer. He is predeceased by wife Betty, daughter Lynn, grandson Brenton Fehr and his brother Bill Krantz. He leaves to mourn his wife Myrna, his daughter Debbie, his step daughters Laurie (Lowell) Fehr, Joanne Hendricks, Tracy (Lorne) Barker and Tana (Richard) Hill; his grandchildren Jessica Mills (John), Lauren Flanagan (Chris), Scott Mills (Caillin), Dustin Fehr (Jen), Michael Fehr (Chantel), Chris Hendricks (Rebecca), Shari Barker, Kim Barker, Daniel Hill, Aaron Hill and Kristi Hill; his great grandchildren Colton Flanagan; Jesse, Brady and Riley Fehr, Taelor and Parker Fehr, Cara Hendricks. Gilbert was born in Rouleau, Saskatchewan, February 2, 1926. He attended Balfour Tech in Regina and later joined the army from 1944-1946. Following that, he was a logger on Vancouver Island for a short time. He had a successful and rewarding career managing a sodium sulphate plant in Sybouts, SK until 1981. He was director of operations, then manager of Sask Minerals until his retirement in 1991. Gilbert's greatest joy in life was his family and he was always happiest when surrounded by them. His family could always count on him for love, support and wisdom. Not only was Gil loved by his wife, daughters and family, he was a friend and mentor to many men throughout his life. He lived the example of a Godly man who touched the hearts of many. Gil was an avid Riders fan and held season tickets for over 40 years. He enjoyed traveling the world by air but mostly he enjoyed the motorhome and traveling the road. He was a student of life, enjoyed learning and was a master craftsman with his painting skills and knife making. Handyman extraordinaire for each of his daughters and his church; he was continually helping wherever he could. His personal relationship with his Heavenly Father guided his actions to use his gifts of leadership and serving. It is with great sadness the family of Lynn Krantz wishes to share with you that after a courageous battle with cancer, Lynn has gone to be with her Lord and Saviour. Lynn died peacefully at home with her family at her side Friday, May 13, 2005. Predeceased by her mother Betty in 1992, Lynn will be lovingly remembered by her father Gilbert (Myrna) Krantz; her sister Deb Mills and family Jessica, Lauren and Scott; Myrna's daughters, four more sisters, Laurie (Lowell) Fehr, Joanne Hendricks, Tracy (Lorne) Barker, Tana (Richard) Hill and their families; aunts and uncles and families. Lynn was born October 12, 1958 in Radville and attended school in Sybouts, Minton and Gladmar. After completing school Lynn started working in Regina at City Hall in 1978 until the present time. During her long career there she earned much respect and affection from her co-workers. Lynn enjoyed traveling but her passion was cheering on the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Lynn and her father enjoyed 29 years of season tickets. She was one of the Roughriders' staunchest fans. On Monday, July 8, 2002 Mary Ann LaBatte, late of Weyburn (formerly of Gladmar), passed away at the Weyburn Special Care Home at the age of 90 years. Mary was born December 6, 1911 in Rock Springs, Wyoming. After the loss of three daughters, the family moved in 1914 to Canada with children John and Mary. One more sister, Veronica was born here. They resided at the Sybouts District near Gladmar. Mary attended Busy Bee School and often spoke of the spelling bees and sports activities, which she excelled at. Mary loved the outdoors and helped her father on the farm. On December 28, 1929 she married Edward LaBatte and they made their home south of Gladmar. Two sons Clifford and Richard, were born to them. They continued to farm until 1975, when Clifford bought the home farm and they moved into the town of Gladmar. Mary continued to reside in Gladmar after Edward's passing in 1985. Mary loved the outdoors and she took great pride in her home, flowers and yard, and spent countless hours cutting the grass both at home and around her neighborhood. Mary loved playing cards, bingo, and shuffleboard, but her greatest passion was probably bowling, after Gladmar built a bowling alley in 1982. She was so very proud of all her bowling achievements and trophies. She was a strong political supporter. She was a member of the Gladmar Hall and enjoyed her many hours of both work and fun there. On October 1, 2000 Mary moved to the Legion Towers in Weyburn. Though she missed her home and friends of Gladmar, she enjoyed taking part in all the activities there and made many new friends there. She quickly learned the game of cribbage so she'd be busy, also on Monday nights. On April 30, after becoming too ill to care for herself, Mary moved to the Weyburn Special Care Home where she passed away Monday, July 8. The prayer service, conducted by Mary Ann Seitz was held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 12 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Funeral service was held Saturday, July 13 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Father Francis Kurisinkal officiating. Interment followed at Gladmar cemetery. Pallbearers were Blaine LaBatte, Cory LaBatte, Kevin LaBatte, Brad LaBatte, Bryan LaBatte, Al Gruber. Honorary pallbearers were Sharon Didrick, Chantel Keifer, Lorraine Cross, Melanie LaBatte, Gale Walper, Crystal Torkelson. LaCOSTE - Bernice Edith (nee Wilson) LaCoste was born on February 15, 1912 at Rosholt, South Dakota, the fifth of six children born to Wilmot and Matilda (Mayberry) Wilson. She was 11 years old when her family moved to a farm near Raymond, Montana. She attended Collin's Country School at Outlook, Montana, until grade 9; at age 16 she quit to take care of her mother who had a crippling stroke at the age of 40. She took care of the home for her mother, father and younger brother Kenneth, who was ten at the time; also baked bread and did laundry for bachelors in the area. On May 1, 1933, Bernice married Armand LaCoste at Plentywood, Montana. He was a Canadian farmer who lived a mile across the border. Shortly after, they moved a shack to the Big Muddy to start a coal mine with his brother Emile. This is where Darrell and Marilyn were born. They mined coal for three years, broke up some land on their homestead in the summer, and went farming fulltime. The "thirties" were hard times; Bernice helped to raise Sylvia, Roland and Duane (Emile's children) after their mother (Delphine) died at a young age. Along with her own family of nine youngsters: Darrell, Marilyn, Kenneth, Aurel, Vernon, Dwight, Sharon, Leona, and Marianna (her twin Matilda died at birth). When Emile married Liz they had nine more children, who all became part of this close knit family. Bernice milked cows and made butter, hatched her own chickens and turkeys for meat and eggs. Every drop of water needed for washing and cooking had to be carried up the hill from the 'spring.' She grew a big garden to feed her growing family so there was always pickling, canning vegetables, meat and fruit to be done. She baked 18 loaves of bread at a time, scrubbed clothes on the board, baked and did a lot of sewing and mending for her family. In 1956 Armand and Bernice moved to Minton so the kids would be closer to school. Bernice did a lot of work in Minton, cooking for road crews, cleaning houses, cooking at the hotel and cafe, washing clothes for priests and customs officers. She took in many boarders after the children were gone from home. Bernice was truly a caregiver and enjoyed each and every one of her 35 grandchildren, 77 great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. Her door was always open: I can remember many Christmas dinners with neighbors that had no place to go. She "NEVER" forgot a birthday, and always sent Christmas cards and letters to all her family and friends. Kept busy making blankets, crocheting, and giving homemade items to all her children. Bernice was widowed at age 56, was active in the CWL at St. Eugene's parish in Minton, attended mass for as long as she could and was proud to raise her family in the Catholic faith. She worked at many fowl suppers, always donating the 'best' she had! She was the Minton news correspondent for the Radville Star, Weyburn Review and Estevan Mercury. She enjoyed many trips, traveling with her long time friend Iris Miller. Bernice moved to Weyburn in 1982 to Bison Manor for her retirement and got involved in many activities like reading, writing and genealogy, which she loved to share with her family. She joined the Trossachs Town and Country Ladies group and had many friends. Bernice was able to remain independent in her own home until the age of 86, at that time she moved to Radville Marian Home on December 13, 1999; and later to Weyburn Special Care Home on January 28, 2003. Whenever anyone visited with her you could marvel at her wisdom, and keen sense of humor; how she loved her family and friends for all they did for her. She was the 'treasured matriarch' of her family. We were so lucky to have this very special lady with us for 94 years; we will cherish the memories of her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. It is with deep sadness that the family of Elisabeth "Betty" LaCoste announces the passing of a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, on Monday, September 02, 2002 at the age of 64 years. Predeceased by her first husband Joe Hoffart, her parents, three brothers, four nephews and one niece. He was predeceased by his father, David and mother, Minnie; sisters: Hannah Jacobs, Ella Jacobsen, Dorothy Kaip, Sophie Howard; brother, Donald Lanicca. Norman is survived by his nieces and nephews. Norman was born on September 18, 1924 in the Minton area where he was raised. He took over the family farm which he worked until the spring of 1974, when he sold the family farm to his nephews Archie and Gerald Howard. He then retired to Radville where he resided until his passing. Norman was a man of few words. As a young man, Norman did very nice wood work with a hand saw. A Graveside Service for Norman was held on Tuesday, May 7 at 1:00 p.m. from Chapel Grove Cemetery, Minton with Wendy Caldwell, officiating. LANZ - Doug Lanz of Weyburn passed away suddenly on July 15, 2006 at the age of 46 years. He was predeceased by his father, Edward Lanz (1980); grandparents Mike and Margaret Lanz, Einar and Hildur Iversen, as well as several uncles, aunts and cousins. He will be lovingly remembered by his son Nathan Lanz, Weyburn; daughters: Eleisha (Kerry Gardner) Lanz and Tasha Lanz; one grandchild Chanel Lanz, all of Moose Jaw; his mother Lila Lanz (Cliff LaBatte), Weyburn ; one brother Don (Rosalie) Lanz, Weyburn and their family, Trevor (Allison), Trina, and Tiffany; sisters Cathy (Hartley) Tessier, Devin and Sheena, Karen (Paul) Kuffner, Laken and Ashton all of Weyburn; special friend Kathy Dykstra and her family of Drinkwater; many aunts, uncles, cousins, fishing buddies, and many, many friends. Doug was born in Radville on April 17, 1960. He attended school in Minton and Gladmar, graduating in 1978. Doug lived on and operated the family farm until 1984. He worked for the Sask. Wheat Pool, Sask. Crop Insurance and then the last 13 years were spent in Weyburn working for Nexans Canada Inc. Doug's passions were hunting, fishing and his shiny Red Truck. He was a very friendly person who loved visiting with friends far and near. He was very family oriented and held his family close to his heart. The Memorial Service for Doug was held on July 21 at 11:00 a.m. from Zion Lutheran Church, Weyburn. Pastor Martin Olson was officiant. A lunch followed the memorial service. Interment was at Chapel Grove Cemetery in Minton. LANZ - Margaret Veronica (nee Schaeffer). On Thursday January 22, 2004, three days short of her 104th birthday, Jesus released Margaret Lanz, late of Weyburn, from her physical burdens, took her by the hand and led her home. Margaret is predeceased by her husband Mike, sons: John (infant), Edward, George, and Henry; daughter: Josie Koch; sons-in-law: Bill Watland, Adam Gerle, Cappie Heinzman, Harry Koch, Tony Mack; grandchildren: John Schoenfeld (infant), Lorraine Johnson, David and Lorelle Schoenfeld, Jim Runzer and great granddaughter Laura Anne Quarrie; her parents John & Magdelena Schaeffer; brothers: Frank Schaffer and Jacob Schaeffer; sister: Magdelena Lipp; sister-in-law Tina Schaffer and brother-in-law Ted Lipp. Margaret is survived by her children: Minnie (Walter) Schoenfeld of Regina, Mary Heinzman of Kelowna, Helen Mack of Weyburn, Tillie (Alex) Lacaille of High River, AB, Betty (Ernie) Lacaille of Weyburn, Mike (Gayle) Lanz of Lethbridge, AB, Bernie (Leon) Verot of Winnipeg, MB; daughters-in-law: Edna Lanz of Winnipeg, Evelyn Lanz of Weyburn and Lila Lanz of Weyburn; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren; one brother, David (emma) Schaefer of Wetaskiwin, AB; one sister-in-law, Teresa Schaeffer of Regina as well as many nieces and nephews. Margaret Lanz, the oldest of seven children, was born January 25, 1900 in New Schlessel, Russia. She came to Canada with her family on November 9, 1910. Their ship docked in Quebec; from there they boarded a CPR train enroute to Regina. She had very little schooling in Russia and was unable to attend school in Canada. Margaret could recall vividly the Regina cyclone of 1912, and told her family the story many times. Margaret was always helping and looking after someone. After her father's death in 1913, she worked very hard to earn as much money as she could to help her mother with her younger sister and brothers. Her first job was at the Regina Steam Laundry; very hard work for a child of 13. For a time Margaret also worked at the Grey Nuns Hospital and later she worked for a prominent Regina doctor and his wife looking after their children and doing the housework. In 1915, after her mother married, Margaret moved to Vibank where she worked for Anthony and Hanna Hook, doing housework and looking after their children. There was no power so the work was very hard as everything had to be done by hand. On October 31, 1916, Margaret married Mike Lanz, a very hard working and capable man. After their marriage Mike and Margaret lived in the Vibank area for a short time before moving to Chamberlain in 1917. They moved again to Parry in 1921. Ten years later they moved to the Minton District in January of 1931, to NW quarter section 27, township 1, range 20, west of the 2nd. After moving to the Minton area, eight dry years followed. The thirties were hard times. The soil was dry as powder and blew away. The wheat was short and the land was full of thistles. Neighbours helped each other out, and Margaret helped anyone who needed her. She worked very hard. She milked nine cows and sold the cream to pay the grocery bill. She hatched her own chickens and turkeys. Every drop of water needed for washing and cooking had to be carried. Margaret cooked on a coal stove in the winter and on a wood stove in the heat of summer. Butchering was so much work as the meat had to be salted or canned so it would keep. With the birth of 12 children, Margaret's workload was even more endless. Sewing for her large family was a must! Her daughters recall their mother making them matching dresses complete with starched hats. Margaret could mend anything so you didn't even know there was a hole in it. Margaret worked hard clothing and feeding her large family. She made good nourishing lunches for her children who attended school. Mike and the boys hired out on threshing rigs, and at threshing time there were many hungry men to feed. Margaret was a wonderful cook and baker! She baked the best bread and buns! She baked her own buns until she was 97 years old. Many who passed by the farm got to taste some of her delicious fresh bread. Many a neighbour bachelor got to take a loaf or two home when he left. She made casenipfla and dumphnoodla and the best fried children anyone ever tasted. Her secret ingredient was putting fresh cream over the chicken when it was finishing baking in the oven. Everything was made from scratch with her own special recipes. Margaret always had a big garden and could grow anything. She felt closest to God in her garden. She loved it on the farm and moving to town in 1958 was a big change for her. Her work habits were so different. Mike and Margaret celebrated their 50th and 60th wedding anniversaries together. On March 18, 1978, Margaret lost her life-long partner of 61 years. After Mike's death Margaret kept busy in her yard and garden. When working outdoors she had many a good visit with neighbours or with friends who passed by. Margaret's hands were always busy; sewing clothes for herself, crocheting, doing cross stitch, making table cloths and dolls and Margaret's church and her God were very important to her. She was a very active member of Bergfield Church in the early years and in later years St. Eugene's Parish in Minton. She helped whenever she was needed. She worked at many a fowl supper always generously donating the best she had! Margaret attended mass for as long as she could then in later years she said her mass prayers at home and received Holy Communion at least once a week. Margaret was very proud of her heritage and her Catholic faith and loved to share both with her family. With the help of Home Care and some of her family, Margaret was able to remain in her own home in Minton until she was 9912 years old. On July 19, 1999 Margaret moved to the Weyburn Special Care Home. She loved company and was always such a wonderful hostess, first on the farm, then in her home in Minton and even in her new home in Weyburn. She always had something special to share with her guests, whether it was good food (cookies or chocolates for her great grandchildren) or good conversation. Whenever anyone visited with her you could marvel at her wisdom. She had so much to talk about and so many life stories to tell from over a century's worth of living. Margaret had a deep abiding faith in God and it was this faith that helped her through the deaths of so many family members that went on before her. She knew that God loved her and would someday welcome her home too. Margaret loved her family and was so proud of everyone of them. She included every family member in her daily prayers and rosaries. Her rosary was one of her most treasured possessions. Margaret always felt the reason God kept her so long on this earth was that he still had work for her to do here. She felt her work was to pray often and for everyone. Margaret celebrated her 100th, 101st, 102nd and 103rd birthday at the Weyburn Special Care Home. She was the treasured matriarch of the Lanz and Schaeffer families. Margaret was a gift from God to her family and now she is a gift to God. We, her family, ask God to take care of this very special lady, who we were so lucky to have had with us for so many years. She has been such an important part of our lives for so long, it's hard to image not having her around anymore, but memories are a precious thing and we have plenty of those to cherish. All of us, her 132 descendants, carry a part of her with us and at times will say or do something a certain way because of her. We will always remember Margaret and share our memories of her with others, especially the generations to come. She will live on through the stories we her family will tell. Margaret Lanz was an amazing woman and we were all so very proud of her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. LARSON - Frank Leonard. On Wednesday, January 27, 1999, Frank Leonard Larson, late of Weyburn, passed away at the age of 86 years. Predeceased by his parents, Oscar and Sophie Larson; his first wife, Rose; and one granddaughter, Rhonda. Frank leaves to mourn his wife, Juliette of Weyburn, and her family: one son, Reynold (Glenda) of Gladmar, SK; one granddaughter, Ronalee of Weyburn; one grandson, Doyle of Gladmar; one daughter, Lois (Bob) Shorten of Regina; and his special friends, Jim and Myrna Cook. Frank was born at International Falls, Minn., USA on June 18, 1912. He attended London School. Frank farmed in the Gladmar District until he retired to Weyburn. He attended Minton-Gladmar United Church and Grace United Church in Weyburn, and was a past member of the Masonic Lodge. Frank loved bowling, socializing with friends and family, playing cards and dancing. Funeral service was held Saturday, January 30 at 1:00 p.m. from Grace United Church, with Bill Corkum officiating minister. Interment followed in Gladmar cemetery, Gladmar. All those in attendance were considered to be honorary pallbearers. The active pallbearers were: Alvin Elkema, Harvey Hind, Glenn Ehrhardt, Harold Blackmore, Wayne Fladeland and Barry LaBatte. LARSON - Juliette Elizabeth (nee Wynandts) Mickler Larson. On Wednesday, October 11, 2000, Juliette Elizabeth Mickler-Larson, late of Weyburn, passed away at the age of 90 years. Predeceased by her parents: Joseph and Harriette Wynandts; her husband, Joseph Mickler in 1976; two daughters: Sharon and Delores; one son, Norman; son-in-law, Toy; daughter-in-law, Bev; two granddaughters; two grandsons; brothers and sisters all deceased; and her second husband, Frank Larson in 1999. Juliette will be sadly missed by her two sons: Terry (Carla) of Weyburn; and David of Radville; three daughters: Loretta (Lionel) of Montmartre; Darlene (Bob) of Gladmar; and Gloria (Delbert) of Verwood; 27 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; three great, great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Juliette was born in Brussels, Belgium March 15, 1910. Her father came to Canada in 1910, later she and her mother and the rest of the family came to be with her father in 1911. She attended school in London, and also Glenn-Curren School. She married Joseph Mickler in 1928 in Regina. They started their married life in Lake Alma, and later moved to Gladmar, where they took over her parent's farm until the early 1940s. Then they moved to Sybouts. Juliette enjoyed taking care of her family. She helped out at her church as much as she could. She was always known for her kind and caring nature and was willing to help. She enjoyed playing cards and she loved to dance. She did a lot of crocheting, making quilts and was a very good cook. All her children loved to eat her Belgium waffles and anyone who tried them loved them. The coffee pot was always on for her family and friends. Juliette and her husband moved to Gladmar when he retired and they lived there until his passing in 1976. Then she moved to Weyburn, where she lived until she passed away at the Weyburn General Hospital on October 11, 2000. Prayers were said Mon., October 16 at 7:00 p.m. from Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn. The funeral mass was held Tues., October 17 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn, with Father F. Hengen celebrant. Interment followed at Chapel Grove Cemetery, Minton. All those in attendance were considered to be honorary pallbearers. The active pallbearers were: Harvey Hind, Joey Mickler, Darrel Tremblay, Gary Klien, Dennis Arnold and Kevin Johnson. LARTER - Dwayne Eugene. On Saturday, June 22, 2002, Dwayne Eugene Larter, aged 73, passed away. He was predeceased by his wife Patricia (nee Ferguson), his parents Gladys Calvin (nee Byers) and Archie Larter, his brother-in-law Les Ferguson, brother-in-law Grant Hughes, sister-in-law Jean Ferguson, nieces Sharon Carr and Lynn Schaffer, and special aunts Ruby Graham (nee Byers) and Margaret Byers. Dwayne is survived by son Kelly and daughter-in-law Debra Larter, and twin grandsons Patrick and Matthew, all of Bedford, N.S., sister-in-law Dorothy Hughes and brother-in-law Maurice Ferguson, both of Regina, cousin Holly Dauvin (George) and children, of Redvers, cousins Tim Graham, and Richard Graham, both of Maryfield, one niece, three nephews, numerous cousins, and their families. Dwayne was raised by his grandparents, Carlton and Bertha Byers, in the Minton area and he graduated from Central Collegiate in Regina. He returned to Minton with his wife Pat in 1951 to farm and later manage the Minton-Gladmar Credit Union for several years. Prior to retiring to Moose Jaw and later moving to Regina, he worked in various capacities for Sask. Housing in Saskatoon and the Moose Jaw Credit Union. LEIDAHL - Edgar fell asleep in death on Sunday, June 17, 2007 at the age of 81. He lived his entire life on the farm at Gladmar, Sask. with his loving wife of 40 years, Betty. He was well known for his devotion to his god, Jehovah and a strong hope in the Bible's promise of a resurrection and living forever on a paradise earth brought about by God's Kingdom. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at the Gladmar Community Hall, Gladmar, Sask. conducted by Mr. Russell Teodorovici. LUND - Marty Elmer passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 19, 2008 in Golden, BC at the age of 46 years. He was predeceased by his father Elmer. Marty will be lovingly remembered by his wife Vivian; two sons Michael and Aaron; mother Marie (Charlie) Becker; sister Debbie (Rodney) Makelki; brother Wayne (Betty); father-and mother-in-law Juel and Audrey Field; sisters-in-law Susan Field and Karen (Greg) Pflanzner; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Marty was born in Radville, SK and attended school at Lake Alma and Gladmar. On October 6, 1984, he married Vivian Field, his classmate all through school. From an early age, he was a hard worker, resourceful and capable of fixing anything. He worked on his parents' farm and in their garage and hotel business during school. For eight years, he worked on drilling rigs as a roughneck and quickly rose to the position of driller. He also operated a custom harvesting business with his father and brother in Oklahoma, Nebraska and South Dakota for three years. In 1987, he moved to Regina and completed the Electrical Engineering Technology program at STI in Moose Jaw, with co-op terms at SaskTel and the Saskatchewan Research Council. In 1990, he started work at Ipsco (now Evraz), grinding pipe, and quickly rose through the ranks to his latest position as General Foreman of ERW, where his calm manner and talent for solving problems and fixing things were put to good use. He always had time for his family. A loving husband, he was a great dad for Michael and Aaron, devoting hours to leading their Cub Scout troops and building a beautiful acreage home for them at White City. He taught them how to work hard and have fun and was very proud of their accomplishments. He enjoyed traveling with his family on vacations to California, Florida, Arizona and Mexico. He worked hard, but always had time for fun, including hockey with the Lumsden Hurricanes, fastball and slow pitch, building and racing four wheel drive mud trucks, hunting, quadding and snowmobiling. His latest passion was adventure racingkayaking, hiking and mountain biking. He passed away participating in his fifth Race the Rockies event at Golden, BC while pursuing his next adventure. MACK - Anton "Tony". It is with great sadness that the family of Anton "Tony" Mack announce his passing on May 16, 1999. After several years of failing health Tony passed away at the Weyburn General Hospital at the age of 80 years, with his family by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Matilda; his step-father, Joseph Kessler; an infant brother and sister; and brother-in-law Maurice Lee. Left to cherish Tony's memory are his devoted wife of 51 years, Helen; and his six children: Larry (Ellen) Mack, Avonlea; Sharon (Glenn) Hibbard, Minton; Duane (Maureen) Mack, Strathmore, AB; Elaine (Dennis) Simpart, Minton; Sandra (Wayne) Hoffart, Wilcox; Mike (Sheila) Mack, St. Albert, AB; 17 grandchildren: Kim (Brian) Cook; Kristy (Jarrad) Skuce; Cherie Hibbard; Brian Mack; Brenda Mack; Steven Hoffart; Brad Hibbard; Blair Simpart; Jennifer Hoffart; Ashley Mack; Erin Simpart; Alison Hoffart; Melissa Mack; Kevin Mack; Jessica Mack; Chad Mack; Nicholas Mack; and one great granddaughter, Jasmine Cook; one brother, Joe (Matilda) Mack; three sisters: Pauline Lee; Emily (Len) Bachmeir; Anne (John) Didrick; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Tony was born on July 30, 1918 on the family farm west of Minton. When he was six his dad was killed in a coal mine in what is now known as Anderson's pasture. He went to a one room school at Diamond Coulee School up to grade eight. He then helped his step father on the farm, doing the chores, looking after the cows and horses and working the land. In the 30's he helped build Snuggin's Dam, earning a $1.00 a day. In those days that was good money and he was lucky to have a job so close to home. He also worked for neighbouring farmers off and on. Many falls he worked for Stanley Hibbard stooking behind the binder, and also on the threshing rig hauling bundles. He earned $2.00 a day. Tony was also a member of the Herman Threshing Crew (a man, his team, and rack earned 20 cents an hour). For fun he went to school dances, about once a month with his whole family. In stormy weather and in the evening when chores were done, everyone played cards. Neighbours gathered together a lot. Tony also loved to ride horseback, especially bareback. One of his favourite horses was named "Pat." In 1942 he enlisted in the army. He served in the army for three and a half years. Luckily Tony never saw active duty, but if the war had not ended he would have had to go overseas. On November 10, 1947 Tony married Helen Lanz. For six months after their marriage they lived in Regina, then they moved to the family farm. Tony and Helen lived on the farm until 1957 when they moved to town, but Tony still continued to farm. Their marriage was blessed with three sons and three daughters. Tony worked very hard, but to supplement his farm income he worked many jobs. He worked for South Construction, Sybouts Sodium Salt Plant, Larsen's Construction and he also drove school bus for 15 years. Farming was always his first love. He was in his glory when he was working at the farm and he loved to be his own boss. Later when he retired, he still took an active interest in the farm, helping his son Larry when he could and his son-in-law Glenn. Tony loved to be needed and was always hoping to be asked to help. He was an active member of St. Eugene's Parish. He served on the parish council for 6 years as treasurer. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, and also a member of the Minton Elks Lodge #519. Tony loved to have fun. He loved to sing and as he sang he taught some of his kids the words to his favourites ("Silver Haired Daddy" and "Cowboy Jack", to name a few). Tony could also play the mouth organ and the violin. He loved to dance, especially a good old time polka. He loved to tell stories and tell jokes and act silly. Years ago, at many a house party, when neighbours got together, they put on skits. Many a time he was the one wearing the "dress." He loved pulling pranks and playing practical jokes on fellow workers. Tony was known for his feisty personality. When his brown eyes sparkled you knew he meant business. He will be remembered for his sense of humour and his fun loving ways. To Tony, his faith in God, his family and his friends were his strengths. He loved nothing better than to reminsce with family and friends over a drink or two. He so loved to visit with everyone he met. He was so proud of his wife Helen and all his six kids, and the lights in his life, his grandchildren and little great granddaughter. He loved to tease them all, that was his way of showing them how much he loved and cared about them all. Tony loved all little children. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. Prayers were held Tues., May 18 at 7:30 p.m. The funeral mass was held May 19 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Eugene's Parish, Minton. Celebrants for the mass were Fr. Brian Meredith and Helen's cousin, Fr. We'll cherish our memories and they will give us strength to face each new day. MACK - Helen Katherine (nee Lanz). It is with great sadness that the family of Helen Mack announces her passing on October 8 , 2007. After a courageous battle with cancer Helen passed away peacefully in her own home with her family by her side. Helen is predeceased by her parents, Mike and Margaret Lanz; husband Tony Mack; brothers, John, Edward, George, and Henry and sisters, Josie and Minnie. Helen Katherine Mack was born September 20, 1928 to proud parents Mike and Margaret Lanz, the seventh child of a family of 12. Her parents farmed seven miles south and a half mile west of Minton. Helen attended Herald school until she completed her grade eight. She walked morning and night one and a half miles to and from school. In winter her older brother George drove the children with horse and sleigh. As a teenager Helen learned how to cook, bake and sew helping her mother with the younger family members. After school she helped her father stook bundles. She also had to help with the milking and separating. For fun, and only when all the work was done; Helen went to school dances with her older brothers and sisters. It was at one of these dances that she met Tony Mack. Helen believed that one of the most important things in life was to choose a good partner and in Tony she found her true prince. On November 10, 1947, Helen and Tony were married and they went on to have six children, 17 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. On the farm Helen worked side by side with her husband. She did the milking and separating and shipped the cream by train when it came to town. Helen raised chickens by setting her own eggs. She always had a big garden and did lots of canning of fruits, vegetables and meats. For many years Helen was kept very busy raising her children. She was a member of St. Eugene's Parish all her life and a long time active member of the C.W.L. Tony and Helen were married 51 years in November 1998. Tony passed away May 16 , 1999. In February 2000 Helen moved to an apartment in Weyburn. During her seven and a half years in Weyburn Helen met many new friends who became such a very important part of her life. Helen taught us the importance of family and what it means to put your family first; this was recently illustrated by her own family as they stood by her side until the good Lord called upon her. Thanks to the love and support of her family, Helen was able to spend her last 40 days on this earth in the comfort of her own home, surrounded and cared for by loved ones, especially Ellen, Sharon, Elaine and Sandra whom Helen would refer to as her "four beauties." If you talk to her children you would find more than a little bit of Helen in each of them. Their respect and admiration for their parents is a true testament of what a wonderful mother Helen was. Helen's love extended well beyond her immediate family. She volunteered her time at the Weyburn Special Care Home and Souris Valley Extenda Care Home helping to assure that residents could attend Mass. She also helped out with Meals on Wheels. She was a kind and caring person always ready to help anyone in need. Helen was a great cook and the best hostess. Visitors to Helen's house always felt very special as she treated them as one of her own. She was always trying out new recipes and shared her favourite dishes and baking with family and friends alike. The life of the church also played a significant role in Helen's life. Her faith in God and commitment to her spiritual life was observed in the way she lived each day. The great thing about Helen was that she was very intelligent. She was able to break down the generation gaps with her quick wit and amazing sense of humour. With the grandchildren Grandma Helen and Grandpa Tony would always do the good cop, bad cop routine. I am pretty sure you can guess who the good cop was. When one of the grandkids was loud or running in front of the TV, Tony would get out of his chair and discipline the grandkids. Grandma Helen would swoop in and make everything better with some milk and cookies. In Grandma Helen's house the cookie jar was easily accessible to children, right there in the bottom cupboard the cookies were always nice and close. It is the little things such as this that make Helen's kindness and spirit forever treasured. This warm loving woman with a heart of gold touched everyone's heart and will be greatly missed by all. We, her family, take comfort in knowing that Helen is now once again reunited with her prince in the Kingdom of Heaven. We can just see her now smiling up at our dad "Tony" as they dance up a storm (probably a polka) way up high above the clouds. MARTIN - Elizabeth "Louise" (nee Meyers), late of Weyburn passed away peacefully July 14, 2012, at the age of 85 years. Louise was predeceased by her parents, Anna and Fred Meyers; her husband, Frank Martin; her youngest brother, Arthur Meyers. Louise is survived by her children: Francis (Shirley) Martin, Regina, Ronald (Janelle) Martin, Redvers, Rose Anna (Bob) 0�Connor, Stoughton, Belinda (Lawrence) Morrissette, Weyburn, Keith (Charlene) Martin, High Prairie, AB, 17 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; her sisters: Toni (Alf) Lewis, Calgary, AB, Freida (Henry) Larose, Calgary, AB, Lil Christian, Regina, Rosemarie (Peter) Walter, Okotoks, AB, Lorrie (Dave) McCutcheon, Ceylon; her brothers: Fred Meyers, Minton, Al (Karen) Meyers, Swift Current, Richard (Dorothy) Meyers, Minton, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was born August 10, 1926 the second child of 10 children, so she helped out a lot with her younger brothers and sisters. She was an excellent, self-taught seamstress, so she sewed a lot of their clothes. She also made her children�s clothes. Some of her other talents were quilting, knitting, crocheting, and she did many crafts. Louise married Frank Martin on October 28, 1948. In 1953 they moved to a farm by Redvers. They grain farmed and raised cattle, pigs and chickens, and always had a huge garden. They also raised five children. Frank passed away June 16, 1993. In 1996 Louise moved to Weyburn where she was active in her church and did volunteer work up until the time that she went into the nursing home in 2009. A funeral service was held on July 20 at 10:00 am at St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn with Father Gerry Bauche officiating. Interment was at Redvers Town Cemetery, July 20 at 3:00 pm with Father Clement Nwankwo officiating. McELREE - Linda Ann (nee Jacobsen) was born in Gladmar, Sask. on February 3, 1940 to Edwin and Grace Jacobsen. Linda passed away peacefully with her family by side Wednesday evening January 12, 2005 at KLH. Predeceased by her father, step father and son Colin. Lovingly missed by husband Jack, mother Grace, daughter Karen, son Mitch, son-in-law Fred, four granddaughters (Carla, Shannon, Shelly, and Katie-Lynne), great-grandson Jacob, three brothers (Pete, Vic, and Colin), life long friend Nan, a wonderful large family and many friends. Linda received her education in Regina prior to pursuing a successful career in business. In 1956 Linda fell in love with and married her best friend Jack. Linda and Jack moved their enhanced family of five to Fruitvale in 1974, where they resided for two years before moving to Nelson. Here Jack and Linda purchased Ramp Body and Fender Works Ltd., in which Linda played a vital role and the family still operates today. Linda held old-fashioned values yet had an appreciation for the present. Linda's passions included shopping, business, shopping, sewing, shopping, horseback riding, shopping, cooking, shopping, music, and more shopping. Linda had a wonderful sense of humor, an unwavering zest for life, a compassion for all, and an incredible love for her family. Linda was a remarkable influence on the lives of her four granddaughters who she constantly encouraged to take charge of their own lives and to be strong independent women. Linda demonstrated astonishing courage, determination, strength and lovingness throughout her entire life and right to its end. We will all miss her greatly but will be comforted by having her spirit and influence forever with us. A Celebration of Life was held on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at the Heritage Inn, Nelson, BC with Pastor Jim Reimer officiating. McHATTIE - Martha Augusta (nee Swerd) went home to be with her Lord on October 22, 2003, having celebrated her 91st birthday, October 19th. Martha was predeceased by her husband, John; her parents, Jonas and Freda Swerd; children, Edward, Kenneth, and Margaret. Martha is survived and lovingly remembered by her sisters, Gunhild Kinsman and Evelyn Leatherdale; son, Floyd (Eleanor) McHattie; daughters, Ruby (Glen) Hoberg, Jan (Wes) Dynna; daughters-in-law Marion and Marlene; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Martha was born and raised on a homestead near Gladmar, SK. Upon moving from the farm, she relocated to Regina where she was employed with Homecare. After retiring she enjoyed travelling, with Sweden and Israel being two highlight trips. Martha enjoyed spending time with family and friends: Two of her special friends were Hazel Leatherdale and Lillian Crook. Her past times included quilting, knitting and camping. She was a woman of strength and perseverance which helped her throughout her life, difficult as it was at times, and she was able to pass this quality onto her family. She had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and she prayed for her family and others regularly. We will miss you and we love you. Special thanks to Dr. I. MELLE - Ralph. It is with great sadness that the family of Ralph Melle announce his passing on Wednesday, February 22, 2006. Predeceased by his father and mother Kasmier and Katherine Melle; brother-inlaw Lyall Moir; and his sister and brotherin-law Cecelia and Howard Lutz; Ralph is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Joan Melle; sons: Mark (Debra), Garth (Lavonne), Kevin (Rhonda), Gary (Elaine), Wayne (Della Popsecul); daughter, Tracy (Torrie Brigedahl); son, Casey (Chrisinda Tkach-Melle); ten grandsons; and one granddaughter. Ralph was born on July 27, 1926 on the family farm near Minton, SK. He farmed for many years, retiring from the farm to Minton in 1994. Ralph was an active member of his community and lent his considerable talents to many local organizations. He served as a municipal councilor, a member of the St. Eugene's parish council and was an active member of the local Elks club. He also served on the boards of the Minton and Radville Cooperative Associations, the local school board, the Minton-Gladmar Credit Union Limited board and many other committees, boards and community groups. Ralph and Joan moved to Regina in 2002 due to health reasons. Despite his numerous health problems, he always kept his sense of humor and did his best to enjoy his family and friends. MEYERS - Arthur "Art" Andrew John Meyers passed away at Moosomin Hospital on October 23rd, 2009, after a year long journey with Multiple Myeloma. Art was born on July 3, 1946 in Gladmar. He was the youngest of ten children of Fred and Anna Meyers of Minton. Art attended school in Minton and graduated from Gladmar Regional High School. He began working for his brother Al at Meyers Oilfield Services in Swift Current. Art moved to Calgary and graduated from the University of Calgary in 1973 with a Bachelor of Physical Education. He married Dianne Geissler of Swift Current on July 8, 1972. In 1973, Art and Dianne settled into their teaching careers in Wawota. Art was dedicated to coaching many sports in the Arcola School Division, SMMSD and SE Cornerstone. Art was a faithful member of the SE District Sports Association, SHSAA, Wawota Rec Board and St. Francis Xavier Church. He had a passion for volleyball, track and field and gymnastics. Art and Dianne initiated the Wawota Gym Club, which is still active today. He retired from teaching in 2002. Art enjoyed playing recreational hockey with the Wawota Jets, curling, baseball and assisting with community hockey and baseball. His knowledge and expertise were valued by those he came into contact with over the years. He is survived by his wife Dianne and children Toby Ann (Rob) and Trystan (Ashley); 6 sisters and 3 brothers: Antoinette (Alf) Lewis (Calgary), Louise Martin (Weyburn), Fred Meyers Jr. (Minton), Alvin (Karen) Meyers (Swift Current), Frieda (Henri) Hutcheon-Larose (Calgary), Lillian Christian (Regina), Richard (Dorothy) Meyers (Minton), Rosemarie (Peter) Walter (Calgary), Lorraine (David) McCutcheon (Ceylon). He had numerous nieces, nephews and was pre-deceased by his parents Frederick Meyers Sr, Anna Meyers, and brothers in law Barrie Christian and Frank Martin. Art remained a farm boy at heart, working for local farmers and becoming a hail adjuster with Co-op Hail. Fishing with family and friends was always a joy for Art. He enjoyed traveling where his love of history flourished. Art never turned down an opportunity to engage (and win) a card game. Art's humour and witty rebuttals will be remembered by all who knew him. Art's pride and joy were his children, Toby Ann (Edmonton) and Trystan (Saskatoon). He shared with them his love of fishing, farming and travelling. He was the biggest fan and supporter of his children's educational and athletic pursuits. Although deeply saddened by the loss of our father, we feel very blessed for his unending love and support. Fond memories of Art - a husband, a father, a brother, an uncle and a friend, will remain close to our hearts forever. Art's funeral took place on October 27th at St. Francis Xavier in Wawota. MICKLER - Terrance "Terry " Mickler passed away June 14, 2005 at the age of 52. Funeral Service will be held Monday, June 20, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. from Fletcher Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Minton Cemetery. MILLER - Iris Eleanor (nee Robertson). On Sunday, December 8, 2002, Iris Eleanor Miller, late of Weyburn, passed away at Hilltop Manor, at the age of 88 years. Predeceased by her parents, John and Mary Robertson; her husband, Walter in 1974; three brothers, Donald, Allan and Clarence; sister Isobel Drake; granddaughter, Susan Tjaden and brother-in-law, Murray Lytle. Iris is survived by her children: Louise (Vernon) Axten of Minton; Gayl (Carole) Miller of Weyburn and Isabell (Bill) Tjaden of Sperling, MB; her grandchildren: Blaine (Joyce) Axten, Brian (Louise) Axten, Linda (Jack) Floer, Karen (Blake) LaBatte, Richard (Myla) Miller, Trevor Miller, Karen Tjaden (Rob McCement) and Scott Day; 15 great grandchildren; one sister, Maisie Lytle of Saskatoon and one sister-in-law, Lola Robertson of Saskatoon, as well as many nieces and nephews. Iris was born August 1, 1914 at Broadview. She was the youngest of six children. Her mother died when she was 10 and her father raised her. She attended Broadview School from grades one to 12, and Regina Normal School 1932 to 1933. While attending Normal School she worked for her room and board. She furthered her education by taking night classes, correspondence and summer school at U.B.C. In 1967 she received a Bachelor of Education Degree. She was a teacher from 1933 to 1973. She came to the Minton area in 1935 and taught in several schools including: Harold School, Crosson Private School, Bessborough School, Minton School. Following her degree she taught in Gladmar Regional High School until her retirement in 1973. On October 18, 1935 Iris married Walter James Miller in Plentywood, Montana. They lived many places including: Crosson Private School at Regway, the Bessborough School yard and the Frank Miller farm west of Minton. They lived in Regina for a short time and moved back to the Minton area until 1981 when Iris moved to Weyburn. In May of 2000, Iris moved to Hilltop Manor. Iris was president of the Ladies Community Club in Minton, a founding member of New Horizons Friendship Centre in Minton, president of New Horizons Area, president of the board of the Minton-Gladmar Credit Union. She taught Sunday School and was on the board of the Minton-Gladmar United Church, and was active in the Grace United Church U.C.W. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, reading and being involved with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Iris celebrated her 80th birthday at Wheatland Senior Center and her 85th at Deloraine Park. She attended the Robertson reunion in Weyburn in 1985 and again in 1991 at Whitewood. She also traveled to many areas of the world. She will be lovingly remembered by all she knew and loved. Funeral service was held Wednesday, December 11 at 10:30 a.m. from Grace United Church, Weyburn, with Rev. Hazel Arbon officiating. Interment followed in Chapel Grove Cemetery, Minton. MUXLOW - Jemaine Dorothy Muxlow passed away on Monday, October 27, 2003 at the age of 80 years. Jemaine was born on January 29, 1923 at the home farm with Grandma Norman Sybouts. She was baptized on June 17, 1923. Her godparents were Grandma and Grandpa Sybouts. Jemaine was confirmed on May 18, 1929 at Overland Church. Jemaine attended Three Lakes School and received her grade eight credit, the highest education possible at the time. She had a secret dream to become a nurse but in those times further education was difficult. Jobs were not easy to find. Her first jobs were helping out various neighbors with whatever she could. One of her favorite places of employment was at Phil and Fern LaBatte's home. She also worked in the Albert Seeds General Store in Gladmar. Jemaine married Leonard Muxlow on November 1, 1942 in Lake Alma Lutheran Church. Times were simple then and weddings were not extravagant. She often expressed the joy she felt when her dad gave her $10 to buy a wedding dress. She chose a lovely blue suit. Leonard's mother made a beautiful wedding supper. Each time she spoke of the modesty of her wedding she never failed to include how special it was. Her life with Leonard began by settling into the old Campbell farm. They started with a quarter of land, a cow of their own, two cows to board, and 25 chickens. Leonard worked several small jobs along with farming. Jemaine's job was milking, making butter to sell and gathering eggs to sell. She often commented about those times saying, "life was hard but people were happy." Jemaine was mother to four children: Clayton, Lana, Dale and Darcy. Her children thank her and remember her for all she did for them. From birthday parties, halloween costumes, music lessons and more. She, along with Leonard, always made sure their children had everything they needed plus a little more. Christmas time was always special. They never missed the trip to Regina to sit on Santa's knee, peer into the Simpsons Christmas Wonderland window and watch the Santa parade. Summers were always busy. There was much work to be done and the children were expected to be involved. There was the farming of course, but along with that Jemaine always had a huge garden. This meant maintaining the garden as well as preserving the food. The hard work was always rewarded by a trip to the Regina Exhibition and sometimes camping trips that would take us to British Columbia to visit family. Jemaine's life was spent around the community of Gladmar. Most of her life was lived with Leonard on a farm just outside of Gladmar and then in Gladmar itself. In the fall of 1999 they moved to Weyburn. February of the year 2000, Jemaine suffered the loss of her husband. She remained in Weyburn, moving to Bison Manor and then Parkway Lodge. She met new friends but missed her community and her old friends terribly. A phone call or visit from family or friends brought her great joy. Jemaine's life was very full. As well as always being totally devoted to her family, she was very involved in the church and community. Her community meant a great deal to her. She was active in the Lutheran Ladies League, Community Club, Rec Club and a member of the Royal Purple Lodge for 22 years and was honoured with a lifetime membership. Jemaine remained as involved as possible right up until her move to Weyburn. She was forever interested. For recreation Jemaine curled, bowled and square danced. She loved music. She and a group of friends organized a singing group. She loved it and mentioned many special times spent with her friends singing for personal enjoyment or at the request of someone in the community. She felt blessed with her ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. They will never realize the pride and joy they gave her. In the last years her health was a challenge and prevented her from being as active as she desired. Through all of her struggles, Jemaine's heart never stopped being a mom, grandma, great grandma, auntie, sister, sister-in-law, and friend. She thought of everyone daily, and rarely complained. She leaves us many pleasant memories. We will miss her deeply but we will never forget her. Rest In Peace. On Thursday, February 10, 2000, Leonard Muxlow late of Gladmar, SK passed away at the age of 79 years. Leonard was born in Bengough on July 31, 1920. NOBLE - Phyllis (nee Callan) Noble was born January 1, 1931 to Joseph and Viola Callan on the farm at Buffalo Gap. She was the fourth of five children and she attended school at Prairie Center until the age of 15. The family then moved to Big Beaver where she finished her education. Phyllis went on to work as a waitress in Big Beaver, Rockglen and Assiniboia. On July 17th, 1951 she married Duane Noble in Plentywood, Montana. For seven years Phyllis and Duane lived on their farm a few miles south of the Noble Ranch. During their years on the farm they had three children: Valerie Ann, Joanne Marie and Brent James. In 1958 the family had to make a decision about education for their children; being unable to obtain bus transportation to the farm they decided to move to Minton. Phyllis spent her years raising a family, working for many households as a painter and housekeeper, as well as working in the cafe and local grocery stores. Her last employment position was as a custodian at Regway. Phyllis retired from work after Duane passed away in October of 1993. In 1995 Phyllis decided to moved to Weyburn where she resided until her passing. At times, Phyllis had the appearance of being gruff....and tough as nails, but we all know that underneath she had a soft and caring heart. She enjoyed playfully teasing the kids and all of us recall with a smile how she wasn't afraid to express her opinions in direct terms, even if it wasn't asked for. That was just Phyllis. Phyllis Noble was one of a kind. She enjoyed sharing all kinds of occasions with her children and grandchildren. Her great grandchildren held a very special place in her heart. She would fight with Sierra about whose Dallas it really was, and she would make those little pies for Kieran. Phyllis spent her relaxing hours doing needlework, crocheting, embroidery, knitting and playing her poker machines. Over the years Phyllis made nearly 150 crocheted tablecloths. We, Phyllis's family, and many of her friends have been very privileged to be recipients of her beautiful hand work. Phyllis enjoyed socializing with family, friends and acquaintances. Let our hearts be touches by the many cherished memories we have of her. On Thursday, October 16, 2003 Phyllis Noble passed away in Regina. She was predeceased by her husband Duane; two brothers: Ramon Callan and Gerald Callan as well as one sister Velda Nagant. Phyllis is survived by her children: Valerie (Dale) Theis, Joanne (Bill) Wirtz and Brent (Paula) Noble; her grandchildren: Raegan, Dylan, Jordan and Kristin Theis; Dallas (Julie Carlson) Wirtz, Tanya McGill, Kyla (Chris Jenkinson) Noble and Justin Noble; she was also known as "Grandma Noble the Great" to Kieran and Sierra; her sister, Muriel (Vic) Schuweiler as well as sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. On Sunday, March 28, 1999 Walter Melvin Norman, late of Radville, passed away at the age of 91 years. Walter was born July 8, 1907 at Kerkhoven, Minnesota, USA. Predeceased by his parents, John and Christie Norman; three brothers: Albert, George and Leonard Norman; and five sisters: Mabel, Ella, Emma, Blanche and Lille. Sharon was born at Gladmar on March 12, 1946. She took her schooling at Minton, then moved to Seattle, WA at age 16 to live with her sister Marylin and Carl Williams to take a course in hairdressing. This is where she met and married Bernard Patton. They lived in various places, then moved to Kelowna in 1985 where they divorced. Sharon suffered from multiple sclerosis for many years and later with cancer. The family would gratefully like to extend their heartfelt thanks to many people for the many years of excellent care for Sharon before, and during her passing at the Cottonwoods Care Centre. Sharon was a devoted loving mother and grandmother, seeing that her family always came first. She valued many friendships over the internet. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Sharon was cremated and interment will be held at a later date at the Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery. PETTERSON - Aaron Blair. On Thursday, May 19, 2005 Aaron Blair Petterson of Calgary, Alberta passed away at 40 years of age. Aaron was born in Radville and lived in Gladmar, until he was 18 years old. He worked in Regina for a time and then moved to Calgary in 1994 where he lived until his passing. Aaron will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his beloved parents Melvin Petterson (Jeanne) of Shaunavon, and Janice Petterson of Calgary, AB, sisters Laurie Adkin (Bert) of Langdon, AB, Jo Ann Petterson (Pete) of Langdon, AB, Audrey Poffenroth (Wade) of Chestermere, AB, Bill Trevors (Kristi and Madison) of Saskatoon, niece Nicole Adkin, nephews Riel Adkin and Cohen Poffenroth as well as by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. PETTERSON - Darlene Shirley Petterson passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at the age of 65 years following a long courageous battle with cancer. Darlene Shirley was born in Radville on July 10, 1938 to George Jr. and Eleanor Vargo. She had one younger sister Beverly. Darlene moved to Winnipeg with her parents at age three and began her schooling there. In 1947, the family moved back to Gladmar where Darlene attended Hummingbird School and then the Gladmar School. Darlene married Willmar Petterson on April 9, 1955 in Plentywood, Montana. They had five children over the course of the years, and eight grandchildren followed later. Darlene in her early years worked for numerous families as housekeeper, cook, babysitter, postal clerk, custom painter, and grocer. Much to her credit, Darlene returned to high school in Gladmar to finish her Grade 12, graduating in 1971. In 1975, she took over as the Gladmar Village Administrator, retiring in 1998 due to ill health. She was very active in the community, and resided on other local committees, including: the Minton/Gladmar Credit Union for 23 years, the Radville Hospital Board for more than 15 years, the Gladmar Rec. Board, the Library Board, and the Gladmar Bowling Alley. She was also secretary of the South East Order of the Eastern Star. Darlene was notorious for her organizational skills, and was often called upon to manage and orchestrate more functions than could ever be noted. Darlene discovered that she had cancer in the fall of 1998. She immediately began a brave fight which resulted in a short remission of her illness. Sadly, in January of 2002 she discovered that her cancer had returned. Darlene fought courageously, never complaining of her suffering, which we all knew was great. She held her illness at bay and made every attempt to show us all her love and strength in these last months. She amazed us all with her courage and determination. Her wish was to find her peace at home with her family close by. We are so blessed to have granted this wish for her. Her other wish was that we all remember her. We always will. Darlene was a very loyal friend to many and found the good in others; she didn't waste her precious time with critical thoughts or words. She treasured all family get-togethers, and taught us all the importance of expressing our love. Predeceased by her parents, George and Eleanor Vargo, sister Beverly Mickler, infant grandchild Mallory Ringlein, and close family friend Bernice Bringedahl. Darlene is survived by her husband Willmar of Gladmar. Henry quit working at the mine in 1973 and took the management position at the Gladmar Co-op until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of the town council in Gladmar for many years. A visitation for family and friends was held at the Regina Funeral Home Friday, April 20, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. RENNEBERG - Lucille Elizabeth (nee LaCoste) passed on to her next life on Saturday October 30th, 2010 in Regina, SK. Lucille was born on January 13th, 1951 at Radville, SK, and grew up on a farm near Minton. She poured her love of children into her career, and spent more than 30 years teaching elementary school. She was happily married to Jerome in 1975 and over the next eight years they had three children of their own. Lucille taught at Deschambeault Lake and Lake Alma early in her career. Lucille taught in Kelliher for a few years but was offered a full time contract in Punnichy and accepted it even though it meant lots of driving. After several years in Punnichy, she accepted a transfer to George Gordon Education Centre and eventually returned to Punnichy. Lucille retired in 2007 from teaching but her love of children followed her to Regina, where she accepted a parttime position at a daycare. Lucille was an angel even when she walked the earth; she never complained and always had great stories and memories to share. She will be fondly remembered for her sense of humour, her ability to see everything in a positive light, and her continuous giving nature. Lucille was predeceased by both of her parents Emile and Elizabeth LaCoste; brothers Harold and Alphonse; and sister Sylvia Tessier. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 35 years, Jerome Renneberg; children Anthony (Amy), Stephanie (Justin) and Leah, all of Regina; 10 siblings, 4 brothers-in-law, and 2 sisters-in-law and all of their families. Charles was born in Gladmar, SK and farmed there until 1973. The family then moved to Regina and Charles semi-retired while doing landscaping. Charles had a great love for his dogs. He spent many years raising and breeding his Siberian Husky's. Predeceased by his parents Levi and Charlotte; brother Howard and sisters Lola Marie and Margaret; Charles is survived by his sisters: Helen, Gainsborough and Millie (Clifford), Radville; and numerous nieces and nephews. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Nellie Ritter on Monday, December 15, 2008 at the age of 88 years. Nellie was born on February 25, 1920 in Sandwich, County of Kent, England. She was predeceased by her husband Charles Ritter (October 2001); and parents Ernest and Emma Dunster. SABOE - Harrison Saboe began this life on January 12, 1921 and departed January 3, 2003 at the age of 81 years. He was born on the family farm in Gladmar, to Andrew and Lillie (Fowler) Saboe. Harrison took his schooling in Gladmar and Soda Lake. He completed grade eight and then helped his father on the farm. When his father passed away in 1944, Harrison then took responsibility for the farm and assisted in the upbringing of his brother and young sisters. On July 25, 1953, Harrison married Alma Culbert. They raised three children, Dennis, Mary and Andrew. Harrison and Alma, in addition to running his mother's farm, purchased his grandfather's homestead north of Gladmar. They continued to live and farm this land until their retirement in 1975. Harrison also was a carpenter and was asked to build, repair, and renovate many a project. Harrison built his family home in 1963. Harrison was involved in his community, as a leader and as a friend. He was on the board of the Minton-Gladmar Credit Union, the Gladmar Co-op and the Municipality of Surprise Valley. He was also a founding member of the Almar BPOE Lodge and, after his retirement, a member of the Weyburn Elks Lodge. He maintained this membership until his passing. After Alma's passing in 1994 he took comfort in the friends he had made in the Elks Community. His was a familiar face at coffee row every morning in the Elks Club. Predeceased by his father in 1944, his mother in 1996, and his wife in 1994, left to mourn Harrison's passing are his three children; Dennis (Rose) of Beaverlodge, AB, Mary (Gary) Hersche of Saskatoon, Andrew (Michaela) of Sexsmith, AB, and 12 grandchildren; Steven, Jessica and Tyler Saboe; Alison, Kevin and David Hersche; and Jeffery, Ryan, Ayla, Shyla, Shae and Brogan Saboe. Harrison also leaves his sisters: Dorthea Sache of Chilliwack, BC, Irene Saboe of Norway, Lorraine (Dick) Pratt of Tappen, BC, Eve (Verol) Ratzlaff of Prince George, BC, Merilyn (Arnold) James of Shellbrook, and his brother Eldon (Marjorie) Saboe of Radville, and numerous nieces and nephews. Harrison will be remembered for his gentle ways, quiet humour and quick smile SEIDLER Barbara Betty was born on July 11, 1920, and passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Extendicare Parkside Nursing Home in Regina, SK. She was predeceased by her parents, Adam and Margaret Barth, sister Katherine Hein, brother Adam Barth, and her husband, Clayton Seidler. Betty is survived by her nephew Don Barth (Gyneth), their children Doneane (John), J.T. and Stefano; Michael (Claudette), Matthew, Daniel and Nathan. She is also survived by her nephew Gary and his children David (Shawna) and Jared; Tricia (Jamie), Justin, Brandon and Jessica; and brother-in-law Clifford Seidler (Pat). Betty spent her early married life at Sybouts Sodium Sulphate Plant near Gladmar, Sask. They later moved to Regina, where Betty worked for a number of years in the laundry at the Sheraton Hotel. She was an active member of the C.W.L for many years, and made many friends along the way. Betty spent the last year and a half at the Extendicare Parkside Nursing Home in Regina. TATARLIOV - Charles Walter Tatarliov (known to many as Uncle Charlie). Charles, late of the Radville Marian Home, passed away Monday, March 29, 2010 at the age of 89 years. He was born in Minton, SK and farmed there for all of his working life. He leaves to mourn his passing, his sister-in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews. TATARLIOV - Julie Beatrice (nee Cobin), late of Radville, formerly of Minton, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2012, at the Radville Marian Home, where she had resided for the last four years, at the age of 92 years. Julie was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Bill Tatarliov; her parents, Alex and Rose Corbin; three brothers: John (Pearl) Corbin, Alex Corbin, Gene (Juliette) Corbin; five sisters: Nancy (George) Ayotte, Yvonne (Bill) Bouchard, Margaret (Dave) Ayotte, Mary (Bob) Shibby and Rose (John) Mase. Julie is survived by her daughter, Katherine (Gerald) Kaip and their children: Chris (Shelley), Russell (Sandra), Virginia (Simon), Janet (Mark); her sons: Bill (Bev) Tatarliov and their children: Pete (Carissa), Maeghan (Len) and Nick; Ken (Lana) Tatarliov and their daughters: Keelan and Keeanna; two sisters-in-law: Margaret Corbin and Margaret Tatarliov; 14 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Julie was born on the family farm to Alex and Rose Corbin on June 3, 1920. She was one of nine children. She attended Round Up School in Ceylon School district. On November 23, 1938 she married Bill Tatarliov. They raised three children, a daughter Katherine and two sons, Bill Jr. and Ken. Julie loved the outdoors and worked many hours in a large garden as well as raising chickens, geese and turkeys. She canned numerous jars of pickles, vegetables and meat so she was always ready for a quick meal if company should drop in. No one left without something from her garden or something from her kitchen. She was a very good cook and many family times were spent enjoying a meal around her table. She often welcomed nieces and nephews into her home leaving fond memories behind with many of them. She was very devoted to her family and the Catholic Church. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren meant the world to her and she treated each one in her own special way. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Radville Marian Home for their excellent care and treatment of our loved one. Dominic; two sisters, Bernadette Gawel and Cecilia (George) McGillicky, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Henrie was born on a farm near Gladmar, Saskatchewan on October 3, 1927. He moved to Estevan where he met Marie. They got married in November of 1958 and began farming North of Kisbey until 1974. The family then moved to Arcola, where Henrie began work as a Carpenter. He worked on the new hospital wing in Arcola as well as the apartments. After retiring he continued his love of woodworking by making hand made crafts including miniature chuckwagons and stagecoaches. Henrie had a great sense of humor that made people that he came into contact with laugh. Special thanks to John and Rose Geisel for their care care and help in his final years. TESSIER - Sylvia Theresa (nee LaCoste), born May 6, 1934, passed away from a lengthy illness at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre in Regina on March 30, 2006. UYTTERHAGEN - Jacob "Jake" Uytterhagen. On Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008 Jacob passed away peacefully with his wife, Marian by his side. Predeceased by his parents, Catherine and Leon Sr. Jake is survived by his loving wife, Marian and his children: Cheryll Meredith (Ross), Randy (Terri), Brad (Colleen) and Kevin (Lana). Jake was born in Gladmar, SK and had many fond memories of his childhood growing up on the family farm. As a young family, Jake and Ann (Schmidt) moved to Regina and Jake spent close to 30 years working at the IPSCO steel plant. Upon retirement, Jake and Marian moved to Weyakwin Lake and made their cabin a home, enjoying every day to the fullest. Jake was very active in community activities at the lake, especially the Snowmobile Club. He was always willing to lend a hand or a screwdriver. Okai presiding. Interment will be held in Minton at a later date. VERITY - Esther Selma (nee Dahl). On Tuesday, December 21, 2010, Esther Selma Verity passed away at the Weyburn General Hospital, at the age of 83 years. Esther was predeceased by her parents, Olaus and Olga Dahl; her brothers & sister, Elvin, Oliver, Ernie, Melvin, Einner, Roy, Art & Violet Shaw and her brother-in-law, Floyd Telenga. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Eric of Weyburn; her daughter, Marnell (Bryan) Cornish of McTaggart and their children, Kevin, Shaun, Karla (Colin) and Janelle and her son, Rod (Ronda) Verity of Regina and their children, Dallas (Lisa), Allison and Marissa; three sisters, Marie Wankel (Doug) of Elbow, Ruby (Murray) Weatherall of Maple Creek and Vera Telenga of Lethbridge, AB; sisters-in-law, Irene Dahl of Bethune and Cheryl Dahl of Gladmar as well as many nieces and nephews. Esther Selma Dahl was born February 11, 1927 at Minton. She was raised on a farm with eleven siblings of a close family who worked and played together over the years. She attended Normal School for teacher training and after one month of training, they chose 100 of the most promising students to go out and begin teaching in communities where teachers were in short supply. Over the years through correspondence and summer classes, she completed her Bachelor of Education, convocating from the College of Education in 1983. She worked for 35 years as a teacher in Patricia, Huronville, Rose Peak and Goodwater schools, retiring in 1988. Most of her teaching years were spent in the elementary grades and she had a special gift with Grades 1 and 2, getting her students off to a good start in reading and basic skills. The last year of teaching, she was hired as the Principal of Goodwater school and so completed her career. Even though she was no longer officially teaching, she always took an interest in helping others learn, especially with reading. She remained a teacher at heart. Esther married Eric Verity on July 14, 1950 in Ceylon. and they were blessed with two children, Marnell and Rod. Esther and Eric farmed together south of Goodwater for 40 years, moving to Weyburn in 1989 and lived there until her passing. Esther loved to garden and work outdoors with lots of flowers and vegetables to can. In her early days she was an avid baseball player and later took and interest in curling with the senior ladies in Weyburn. She was an excellent seamstress and sewed many outfits for herself and her children. She was also an excellent cook with fried chicken and buns her specialty. She served on local community groups to support the community of Goodwater. Esther and Eric attended the Weyburn Free Methodist Church faithfully for over 40 years, where she served on ladies' groups, lunch committees, as Sunday School teacher, greeter and the Church librarian. Eric and Esther celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on July 14, 2010. Esther received a devastating diagnosis over the last two years of her life and this too she faced with courage, dignity and quiet strength. ALS affected the muscles of her speech and swallowing, eventually taking away her ability to speak and eat many foods. Family was important to Esther and she was always in attendance at her children's sports, music and school events. This involvement followed with her grandchildren and their accomplishments and activities were highlights in her life. She also valued friends and was gifted in hospitality. The coffee pot was always on and a meal could always be stretched for company, even during the times of her disease, she still welcomed visitors and served her company even though she couldn't eat herself. Esther was well loved by her family and friends and will be deeply missed. She was a very special lady. Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 28 at 2:00 p.m. from Weyburn Free Methodist Church with Rev. Jay Mowchenko officiating. Interment followed in Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Weyburn. The Active Pallbearers were: Kevin Cornish, Shaun Cornish, Dallas Verity, Colin Erickson, Jeff Robinson and Les Sproule. YOUNG - James A. Young, late of Thompkins, formerly of Pangman, passed away suddenly on April 4, 2005 at the age of 72. James was born in the Minton area December 22, 1931 to Coreen and William Young. James worked as a farm laborer in the Pangman area and at the time of his passing in the Thompkins area. He leaves to mourn his two children: Franklin Young and Jean Anderson of Cochrane, AB; three grandchildren: Rebecca, Shaunna and Jackson Anderson; four sisters: Gertie Hausch, Weyburn, Georgina Sies, Margaret Sedgwick and Jacqueline Walden all of Melville, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and one brother Bill Young. Interment to follow at a later date in Melville. |
