ALLAN - Edward. The death of Edward Allan aged 86 years of Imperial, SK occurred on Sunday April 14, 2002 at the Long Lake Valley Integrated Facility in Imperial, SK. The Funeral Service will be held in St. Andrew's United Church, Imperial, SK on Saturday April 20th at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Imperial Cemetery. Edward is survived by his loving wife Margaret; daughters Doris (Ron) Wilson of Prince Albert, Joyce (Blaine) Crittenden of Balcarres, Sharon (Harvey) Federspiel of Stalwart, Mary Lynn (Bob) Wright of Saskatoon, Bonnie (Scott) Spencer of Saskatoon; 13 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren. ALLAN - Margaret Mary (nee Taylor) was born on the family farm five miles west of Stalwart to David and Mercy Taylor on December 22, 1921. She was the "big" sister to Aubrey, Doris and Norman. On April 9, 1947, Margaret married Edward Allan of Imperial. They made their home with Ed�s parents on the family farm. Margaret and Ed�s life was full of excitement and challenges raising their five daughters. After retiring from farming in 1980, Margaret and Ed built a home in Imperial where Margaret lived until November of 2010. To be closer to family, she moved to Saskatoon where she resided at Luther Care Riverside Terrace and then Oliver Lodge. Margaret was a devoted wife to Edward for 55 years, loving mother, doting grandmother, caring sister and aunt, and a loyal friend. She was a meticulous and hard-working homemaker - good cook, baker, gardener, sewer, quilter, crafter and "fixer-upper". Margaret passed away peacefully on March 26, 2013 at Oliver Lodge in Saskatoon. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, son-in-law Harvey Federspiel, siblings and in-laws. Margaret is lovingly remembered by daughters: Doris (Ron) Wilson, Joyce (Blaine) Crittenden, Sharon Federspiel, Mary Lynn (Bob) Wright, and Bonnie (Scott) Spencer; 13 grandchildren: Jill (Brian) Schneider, Shae (Chad) Heffernan & Taylor Barrett; Kerry (Meshel) Kozachuk & Tanis Crittenden; Sean (Mona) Federspiel, Brett Federspiel & Brad (Shelley) Federspiel; Brent (Syrina) Wright & Kimberley Wright (Michael); Ryan Spencer (Julianne), Haley Spencer & Ward Spencer; 9 great-grandchildren: Samantha (Shay), Reed, Hannah, Katherine, Jacob, Kaitlynn, Briana, Avery & Damien; great-great grandson Mason; and niece Linda (Howard) Fisher and family. BABYAK - Bridget "Bea" Regina (nee Mario). The death of Mrs. Bridget Babyak of Imperial SK, aged 84 years, occurred on Monday, March 9, 2009 at the Long Lake Valley Integrated Facility, Imperial, SK. A Memorial Service will be held in St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Imperial, SK. on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Emmanuel Banahene officiating. BAHR - Dorothy Louise (nee Currie). The loving family of Dorothy Bahr wish to announce her passing on May 29, 2007. She was predeceased by her husband Ray William (Bill); her mother Clara Estella Sheffel; her father Donald Carmichael Currie; sisters Eunice, Alice and Jean and brothers Harold, Clare and Ronald. Dorothy was born on September 17, 1918 on her parent's farm close to Last Mountain Lake, a few miles southwest of Nokomis. She spent 16 years with a loving, very musical family, in the Nokomis area before the depression led Dorothy and her brother Harold to Windsor, Ontario to earn money for the family at home. After returning to Saskatchewan, Dorothy married Bill Bahr on September 27, 1941. Dorothy and Bill lived on their farm three miles east of Imperial, SK until 1978. After selling the farm, they retired first to Prince Albert, SK and Mesa, Arizona then to Kelowna, BC where they remained until 2001. Dorothy and Bill's final years were spent in Saskatchewan with family close by. Dorothy's greatest pleasure was from time spent with family, especially grandchildren and this was a rewarding experience for all involved. Dorothy is survived by her sister Norma; brothers George, Frank and Stanley; daughter Joyce of Birch Lake; sons Don (May) and George (Diana) both of Collingwood Lakeshore, SK; six grandchildren Leanne, Scott, Radha, Yarrow, Terry and April; and nine great grandchildren Jasmine, Lena, Jack, Finn, Khyra, December, Logan, Justin, and Tyler. A memorial service will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, Regina, SK on Saturday, June 2, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. BAHT - Mildred Joy. The death of Mrs. Mildred Joy Baht aged 93 years of Imperial, SK. occurred peacefully at Long Lake Valley Integrated Facility in Imperial on Thursday, August 27, 2015. She was predeceased by her husband LeVerne and is survived by 2 sons, Earl (Donna) and Ron (Judi); 7 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. The memorial service will be held in Imperial Community Center on Thursday, September 3rd at 2:00 p.m. BAHT - William (Willie) Thomas Baht passed away peacefully at Long Lake Valley Integrated Facility, Imperial, Sk. on Sunday, May 08, 2016 at the age of 87. He was born February 26,1929 near the family homestead close to Imperial, Sk. He was predeceased by his son Carmen and his parents George and Louise and his sisters and brothers - Helen, Laverne (Joy), George (Claire), Ralph, Irvine (Florence), Emil (Ann), Eileen (Cliff). Willie is lovingly remembered by his wife Lucy of nearly 64 years, daughters Annette (John) and Sharon (Dale). Willie was very proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren John (Jackie) Jayme and Jessica, Erin (Les) Evan and Alyssa and Tiara (Nolan) Theda and Luca. Willie spent a lifetime in the pursuit of doing his best work in farming, carpentry, plumbing, rock crushing, electrical just to name a few. One of his favourite hobbies was to woodwork making birdhouses and elevators. Willie had an excellent sense of work ethic and pride in everything he did. We will miss the numerous card games and Willie's unconditional love of the family. We would like to as a family extend a heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Long Lake Facility for their kindness and care for him and his family. BAKER - Harold Edward Mark Baker passed away suddenly on January 21, 2006. Predeceased by his parents, George and Josephine, and his brothers Jim and John, Ed is survived by his wife Doreen, his brothers George (Peg), Harry (Rose), and Bill (Laura); his sons Dan (Cindy) of Chilliwak BC, Tim of Saskatoon SK, and Tom of Edmonton AB; his grandchildren Rebecca, Cameron, Joey, and Marshall; sisters-in-law Alice Baker and Eleanor Pastoor of Saskatoon and brother-in-law Doug (Gloria) Archer of Regina SK, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Ed was born August 27, 1944 on the family farm near Grandora SK, the youngest of six. He attended the Univ. of Saskatchewan where he obtained his Pharmacy degree in 1967, and started work at Sutherland Drugs in Saskatoon, which he later bought in 1980. In 1985, he sold the store and began a semiretirement. In 1992, Ed and Doreen purchased the local pharmacy in Imperial, servicing the town and the Long Lake Valley District. The Memorial Service will be held the Imperial Community Centre on Friday January 27th at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place in Smithville Cemetery near Saskatoon at 3:30 p.m. BARBOUR - John Robert "Jack", late of Regina, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2004, at the age of 91 years. Predeceased by his parents; wife Charlotte in 1990; grandson David Fieber, Jack is survived by his present wife Evelyn (Herriot); children, Robert Barbour (Ruth), Shirley Fieber, Brenda Kaiser (Chris) and Margie Tosh (Duane); grandchildren, Scott, Joseph, Dwight, Todd, Sheila, Philip, Jeanine, Lee and Mark; great grandson, Sean; sister Letha Carlson; sisters-in-law, Gertie Sewell, Margaret Sewell and Cecile Sewell; nieces and nephews. Also left to treasure his memory are his extended family, step-daughter Adrie-Anne (Gerry) Piero and families; step-daughter in law, Doreen Herriot and families. Jack was born on January 17, 1913 in Ohio. His family moved to Canada, homesteading near Imperial, Saskatchewan. In 1929, at the age of 16 years, Jack joined the Royal Bank. In 1939 he joined the army, starting in the Artillery, later becoming Paymaster and retiring as Captain. Jack returned to the Royal Bank and served in Invermay, Margo, Climax and Swift Current a few of his many positions. In 1948, he married Charlotte Sewell in Swift Current. They moved to Carlyle in 1953 where they raised their family. Jack retired in the spring of 1973 after 44 years. Upon retirement, he worked for CESO doing accounting work for the Department of Indian Affairs for nineteen years. Jack and Charlotte moved to Regina in the fall of 1977. Charlotte passed away in 1990 and after many years of being alone he met and married Evelyn Herriot in March of 1996 and they resided in Regina until his death. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. BELL - Norma (nee Britton). The death of Norma Bell formerly of Milden, occurred at the Rosetown & District Health Centre on Sunday, August 12, 2007 at the age of 85 years. She had fought a courageous battle with cancer for nearly 30 years. Norma is survived by her husband of 53 years, Burton; two daughters Beverley (Don) Seymour of Harris, SK and Elaine (Brian) Domes of Rosetown, SK; granddaughters Trina (Trevor) Vickery, Janay Domes, Linsay, Marci and Lauren Seymour. She was predeceased by her parents Mike and Minnie Britton, son Gregory. Norma was born on November 27, 1921 in Imperial, SK. In 1939 she moved to Moose Jaw where she was employed by B.A. Oil Co. She enlisted in 1942 (W.R.N.C.S.) and worked as a payroll clerk in Halifax, N.S. for the remainder of the war. Upon discharge she returned to Moose Jaw to resume her employment with B.A. Oil and was later transferred to Saskatoon where she met and later married Burton Bell on January 20, 1954. They began their married life on the farm south of Bounty and later moved to Milden where they resided until 2002. At that time they moved to Rosetown where she lived at the time of her passing. Norma loved to do handiwork, her needle work, cross stitch, embroidery, crocheting and most of all knitting are prized possessions of family and friends. She enjoyed the years she and Burton spent with their trailer traveling south for the winter and to Greig Lake in the summer. She was a member of Milden U.C.W. and past member of Milden O.O.R.P. Her family was most important to her and she treasured the times spent with her granddaughters. (nee Benson) Berggren passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005 at the Long Lake Facility in Imperial. She was born in Hatton, N.D. on April 3, 1910 then her family moved west of Stalwart, SK. She had 10 brothers & sisters. Judy worked for many families as a hired girl to help pay for younger siblings. She married Nels J. Berggren on Nov. 1, 1938 and worked with him in their Barber & Beauty Parlour in Simpson & later in Imperial for 50 years. Judy & Nels loved to fish, Nels built many boats. Judy also helped with the paintings which were world renowned . She helped raise race horses with him & loved the races. They both got to travel all over the world visiting Joan while she toured with "Holiday on Ice " for 9 years. Judy is survived by; her husband Nels, daughter Joan, sisters: Myrtle (Harold) Robertson, Kelowna, BC & Freda (Dennis) Croswell, Kamloops, BC., brother Sever (Ann) Benson, Somme,SK, niece LeeGay (Eugene) Lucas, Imperial, SK, nephews: Wayne (Sharon) Busch, Nokomis, SK, Gary (Sheila) Berggren, Regina Beach, SK & many other nieces & nephews to numerous to mention. A Memorial Service will be held in Imperial at a later date. BERGGREN - Nels. The death of Nels Berggren aged 102 years of Imperial SK occurred at the Long Lake Valley Integrated Facility on June 1, 2012. Nels was predeceased by his wife Judy, sisters, Olga, Annie and Louise and brother Herman. He is survived by his daughter, Joan Berggren Disbrow, Buffalo, New York; sister Bertha Anderson and brother Oscar. A memorial service will be held at a later date. BICK - Aleta Marion (nee Cornish). At the age of 98, Aleta Bick passed on January 22, 2007 at Kerrobert. She was predeceased by parents, George and Sarah Cornish; brothers, Gordon and Lloyd; sisters, Alma, Eleanor, Zeta; husband, Clarence; son, Douglas and daughter, Gwendolyn. She is survived by sister, Vivian Clayton; brothers, Arnold Cornish; children and spouses, Don and Erma, Les and Alice, Lorne and Kerri, Linda and Ken; grandchildren and spouses, Curtis, Gary, Jerry and Alyson, Jennifer and Kevin, Andrew and Mindy, Greg and Colleen, Geoff and Maureen, Laureen and Eric, Lance, Patrick and Jaydon; greatgrandchildren, Erin, Emily, Averi, Walker, Casper, Bryn, Kaleb, Cohen, Timothy, Tyler and Erin. Aleta grew up in Imperial, graduated in hairdressing and worked in Imperial and Biggar. After marriage to Clarence they moved to Kerrobert in 1935, where they lived the rest of their lives. Aleta will be remembered for her love of the Arts, Music, Piano, Violin, Organ, Painting, Brasswork and Sewing. She was devoted to family and friends, and her door was always open. She was referred to as a gracious lady. Celebration of her life was held at the Kerrobert United Church Monday, January 29, 2007 with Marj Mack officiating. The service was highlighted by an inspirational summary of Aleta's interests by Marj, Eulogy by grandson, Andrew Wright, two beautiful piano solos by Mary Lou Dawes, song and guitar by niece, Bonnie Daisley and Ecumenical Choir with Leader, long time friend and mentor, Marlene Thomson. Pallbearers were grandsons, Gary, Jerry, Geoff, Lance and Patrick Bick and Andrew Wright. BIRD - M. Grace (nee Kelly) late of Abbotsford passed away January 19th, 2007 at MSA Hospital. Mom is survived by the following children: Karen (George) McLeod, Kathy McNabb, Pat (Phil) Cruickshanks, Gordon (Kathy) Bird, and Jacqueline Bird. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Natasha (Dan) Allen, Trevor (Sarah) McLeod, Lorri, Tricia and Lesli McNabb, Jolene, Matthew (Jodi), Patrick (Cassie) and Kelly Vanthuyne, Jeremy (Lisa), Jenni, David and Adam Bird, as well as 6 great grandchildren. Grace was predeceased by her husband Phil, son Kelly and brother Bob Kelly. Grace was born February 21, 1924 in Imperial, Saskatchewan. As a young girl she enjoyed many country dances, Chautauqua's and Sports Days in surrounding districts. She played the piano for many years earning her grade eight in Music. Mom felt fortunate to have grown up in Imperial with an extended family and friends she treasured always. In her later years she would call her old friends for extensive telephone visits which she enjoyed immensely. Mom taught school and later worked at the Power Corporation in Regina. It was at the Power Corporation that she met our dad Philip Bird. In 1953 they moved to Imperial where she had a busy life raising six children. In 1971 the family moved to Clearbrook, BC where the youngest three children completed their growing up years. While in Saskatchewan Mom was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, participated in various community events and particularly enjoyed curling and its related activities with family and friends. Later, in Abbotsford she became an avid bowler and fan of the Toronto Blue Jays. In their retirement Mom and Dad spent many happy hours together, some of which were at the race track and traveling with friends. Mom's 80th birthday was celebrated at Fraser Downs where a race was named in her honour. Mom was always proud of and interested in her grandchildren and loved their visits and hearing about their various life decisions, adventures and pending family additions. Mom had a sense of humor and was always willing to embrace new things. She was a techno wizard, signing her first WebTV emails with Love, Your Web Momma. Not for her the blinking VCR, she could program her 2 VCR's, her DVD player and her telephones. Mom is lovingly remembered for her positive outlook, being a nighthawk and her uncomplaining demeanor in the face of chronic health problems. The family would like to thank Dr. Mike Campbell, the caring hospital staff, the home care workers, and the others who brightened her days. The care and concern she received from these individuals is a testament to Mom's ability to make friends wherever she was. We feel fortunate that all of us got to be with Mom in her last hours. In keeping with her request there will be a family service at Victory Memorial Gardens at a later date. BOTT - Warren Thomas was born on April 14, 1925 near Imperial, SK and passed away peacefully on September 30, 2008 in Regina. He was predeceased by his wife Erma; daughter Janice and son-in-law Brad Kinna; daughter Jean Perreault; grandchildren Tracy and Trenton. Warren is survived by his daughter Valerie Bott; son Brian and family; daughter Karen and family; son Gerry (Carol) Simcak and their family; son-in-law Ron Perreault; grandchildren Derrick and Jill Kinna; brother Alfred (Dorothy) and family; sister Marie and family; brother Wayne and family; and special cousin Noreen. A GRAVESIDE SERVICE will be held at Regina Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Hwy #1 East, Regina, SK (meet on the service road) on Friday, October 3, 2008 at 3:30 p.m. BRADDOCK - John Frederick "Jack" Braddock, age 85, of Imperial passed away peacefully with family by his side on Sunday June 23, 2013 at Sunset Extendicare, Regina. Jack was born on August 4, 1927 in Regina. He is predeceased by his parents Fred and Eva, stepmother Lydia Braddock, sister Jean Wood, brother-in-law Jack Wood, great-grandson Noah Nekrasoff, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is survived by Margaret, his wife of 58 years, their children: Glenda (Melvin), Murray (Esther), Lianne (Jerry), Mike, Rod (Kris); Jack's pride and joy were his 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jack had a love for family, community, sports and music. He looked so forward to family gatherings and put many miles on his Dodge Caravan to watch his grandchildren in their activities. He took great pride in his involvement in the Imperial community managing the Co-op, serving on town council, volunteer fire department, MC for special town functions, and charter member of the Lions Club. The Rink was where Jack spent many hours either curling or coaching hockey. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Pasqua Hospital and Sunset Extendicare for their compassion and care of Jack. A Celebration of Jack's life will be held at the Imperial Community Centre, Imperial, SK, on Wednesday July 3, 2013 at 2:00 pm with Della Ferguson officiating. Private family interment will take place at the Imperial Cemetery. BRADDOCK - Lydia (nee Zikman). The death of Mrs. Lydia Braddock aged 90 years of Imperial SK occurred at the Long Lake Valley Integrated Facility in Imperial on Tuesday January 25, 2005. The Funeral Service will be held in Imperial Pentecostal Church on Friday January 28th at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. Sam Biro. Interment will follow in Imperial Cemetery. Lydia was predeceased by her 1st husband Gordon Robinson, her 2nd husband Fred, daughter Carol Martin, and a step daughter Jean Wood. She is survived by her son, Doug Robinson, Vancouver; son-in-law, John Martin, Winnipeg; step son Jack (Marg) Braddock, Imperial; grandchildren and great grandchildren. BUSCHE - Raymond William Busche passed away in the early morning hours of October 17, 2001, from complications following heart surgery. Ray was born in Imperial, Sask. on July 1, 1918 and, except for four years serving his country in England during WWII, spent his whole life in the Imperial area. He will be sadly missed by Helen, his loving wife of 54 years; his daughters, Darlene of Fort Nelson, B.C., Wendy (Dan) of Chilliwack, B.C., son Terry (Diane) of Imperial; grandchildren Lorelei (Dwaine), Brett; Leanne (Rico), Bodin, Gena; Ashlyn (friend Chris), Colby, Rogan, and great-grandchildren Jessie, JodiLee, Megan and Gabriela. Ray also leaves to mourn his twin brother Del (Leona), sister Alice, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends and neighbors. Ray was predeceased by his parents Ley and Helen Busche, and his brothers Harold, Ralph and Roy. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 22 at 2:00 P.M., in St. Andrews United Church, Imperial, Sask. Marilyn Keerak will be officiating. CARLSON - Anna (nee Sveindal) Hart Carlson born 21st March 1891 in Vest-Adger County, Norway, to Tobias Olsen Sveindal and Guri Torkildsdatter. At the age of 15 Anna emigrated to Renown, SK. Canada with her father, stepmother, Johanna, and five siblings. Anna taught herself to read and write English "in case she had to get a message across". In Watrous in June 1911 Anna and Frank Hart were married. Frank was a 'professional' carpenter and a farmer. In 1921 Frank and two sons, Clarence, age 3 and Maurice, age 9 died. The "last words" that Anna Hart heard from her husband Frank at his dying in June 1921 were "Get the Swede" and that she did. In 1926 Anna married Erik Carlson. Anna loved to keep house entertain, braid rugs quilt and play bridge. Baking was her specialty and one did not walk out her home without something from her freezer in hand. Anna died at age 94, in Manitou Lodge, Watrous being very lucid and 'waiting' on son Harold to arrive from California before she 'left'. That was not to be. At her death on 23 August 1985 Anna left three daughters, Isabel Lewis, Mabel McKee, Hazel Saunders, and two sons Frank Hart and Harold Carlson, many grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many friends. She was buried beside her husband Erik in the Imperial Cemetery. The funeral service was conducted from St. Andrew�s United Church in Imperial. CARLSON - Erik, born Karl Axel Erik on 19th April 1893 to Johanness Karl August and Hilda Augusta Magnus in Skaraborg Vestra Gotaland, Mariestad Parish, Sweden and died 26th September 1982 in Imperial SK. Erik came to Canada in 1915 and worked on the railroad before taking up farming. Erik sold his farm east of Simpson and came to work for Anna on her farm. On 28th October 1926 Anna and Erik made a trip to Saskatoon and came back married to the shock of Anna�s three daughters and son Frank. Son Harold was born in February 1927. Erik was a fine farmer, loved fishing and was a marvelous vegetable and flower gardener. At retirement Erik and Anna lived in Imperial. The funeral was held on 29th September 1982 in the Imperial United Church with Rev. Elinor Cox and Tom Phillips officiating. Organist was LeeGay Lucas. Register attendant was David Toews. Pallbearers were the six grandsons. Honourary pall bearers were Ken Webster, Jack Braddock, Cliff Leach, Gerry Pritchard, Len Hill and Milton Detwiller. Interment in the Imperial Cemetery. COOK - Betty Cook (nee Hauber) 1919 - 2009. Betty was born in Iowa City, Iowa on July 6, 1919, the last of six children. Her parents, John and Matilda Hauber moved the family to the Cudworth, SK area in 1920. After getting an education, Betty left the farm in 1941 to work at a store in Imperial. She later went on to work for the Thomas Cooks who were operating the hotel in Imperial. She later married Tom, who had been widowed and continued to operate the hotel until selling out and moving to Regina. After some years in Regina, they bought the hotel in Mankota and moved there. Later they sold and moved back to Regina, where Betty worked for Sears until her retirement in 1984. Betty was predeceased by her husband Tom in 1969; her brothers Joe and Willie and her sisters Mary, Margaret and Anna. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and their families. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 4, 2009 at 10:00 am in the Chapel of Lee Funeral Home, 3101 Dewdney Ave. Regina, SK. CORDICK - Louise Doris (nee Roney). It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Louise Cordick on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at the age of 85 years. Louise was born in Imperial, SK on July 20, 1924. She was predeceased by her husband James in 1976; parents Joe and Phoebie Roney; and brothers Lawrence and Ross. Louise is survived by her daughter Carol (Charles) Terry; sons Edward (Kathy) and Raymond (Brenda); grandchildren Carmen (Dustan), Cory, Tammy, Tanya, Amber, Jennifer (Curtis) and Ryan; great grandchildren Avery, Grayson and Hudson. She is also survived by her sister June; brother Dale (Norma); sister-in-law Eva; as well as many nieces and nephews. Louise held various jobs throughout her working career including positions with the provincial government, postmistress in Grand Coulee and housekeeping at Wascana Hospital. Louise was most recently a resident at Sunset Extendicare Home. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, Regina, SK on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. CRUISE - Edward Isaac "Ike" (September 17, 1910 - May 22, 2012). The death of Edward Isaac "Ike" Cruise aged 101 years occurred peacefully at Long Lake Valley Integrated Facility in Imperial on May 22, 2012. Born in Craik, Sask. to Sam and Annie Cruise, Ike was the first in a family of four boys. After attending Cullyton school which was situated on the Cruise homestead quarter, Ike worked on the farm with his dad and on community threshing crews. He was interested in carpentry from an early age and his mother used her scarce resources to buy him tools. The combination of his enquiring mind and the resourcefulness required to survive early days on the prairies meant Ike could turn his hand to almost everything but he was attracted to carpentry. He farmed throughout the thirties working carpentry jobs during the off seasons. This trade took him to construction work on many local homes and businesses as well as projects like the the Balcarres Hospital and the special needs Training School in Moose Jaw. The promise of long term work on a large project took him to BC where he spent four years working on the construction of the hydro dam at Brilliant. Known widely for the quality of his work, the sharpness of his wit and his unbelievable memory, a visit with Ike always left you with some hearty chuckles, a fresh perspective on the world's problems and, more than likely, a reminder of some foible in your past that you wish he had forgotten!! He will be fondly remembered as he left a rich legacy of strong families, good work, favorite stories and many personal quips that never fail to bring a smile. Until his heart problems the first week of March, 2012, at the age of 101, Ike was living on his own in his home in Imperial, driving his truck (legally) and amazing everyone with his witty commentary and his genuine philosophy of life - genuine because he lived it. After 65 years of marriage, Ike was predeceased by his wife Lyda in 1996, two brothers George (2001) and Fred (2009) and sister-in-law Mildred (2010). He is lovingly remembered by his three children: son Larry (Elaine), daughters Anne (Terry) Harrison and Sharon (Bert) Reeves. Ten grandchildren: Teresa (Melvin) Strachan, Les (Glenda) Reeves, Lori (Blair) Crawford, Rhonda (Steve) Petryk, Cheryl (Vern) Archibald, Myrna (Dean) Bittner, Michele (Dennis) Pratchler, Heather (Bill) Detwiller, Charles (Janelle) Cruise, Dwayne (Daphne) Cruise. Twenty-four great grandchildren: Tracy (Jason) Federspiel, Kathleen (Chad) MacLellan, Mitch Strachan, Zachary and Jared Reeves, Rylan, Tyler and Liam Crawford, Jordan and Nicholas Petryk, Deidre Harrison, Kemp Archibald, Rory and Emma Bittner, Bethany and Nathan Pratchler, Marci, Dawson, Daphne and Brayden Detwiller, Breanna and Tannis Cruise and three great great granddaughters: Chloe Federspiel and Siara and Paisley MacLellan. Also remembering Ike is his brother Ben and wife Isabel and sister-in-law Ruth Cruise, nieces, nephews and many cousins. On the evening of September 1st, 2005 our wife, mom and grandmother slipped away ever so peacefully with her dear Emiel and her children beside her. Agnes was born on May 25, 1918. On October 22, 1946 she married her best friend Emiel Dahms and their wonderful life and marriage has continued for almost 60 years. Agnes has always had a ready smile and helping hand for family, friends, community and anyone in need. Please remember often and smile. She is survived by her dear husband Emiel, her children: Janet (Alan), Chris, Ben and Katie; Margaret (Michael), Stacey (Jay) and Brett, Shannon (Isaac) and Stephanie; Emiel Jr. (Florine) and Jana. With much love, wonderful memories and sadness, our family bids a fond farewell to Emiel Albert Dahms. Emiel died on Sunday, March 20, 2011 at the Royal University Hospital hi Saskatoon, surrounded by his family, at the age of 87. He was born at home on the family farm on June 16, 1923 and resided on the farm for most of his life, until July of 2007. In 2007, Emiel moved to Watrous and has spent the last two years at Jubilee Court. During his time at Jubilee Court, Dad has made many new friends and really enjoyed his time residing there. Shuffleboard, cards and the special dinners were some of the highlights along with the care and companionship of the residents, staff and home care personnel. He had just recently moved to Manitou Lodge prior to his passing. Dad met Mom in 1944, and once they started dating, he walked seven miles to town and back every night to visit her. They were engaged on October 22, 1945, and were married one year later on October 22, 1946 at St. John's Cathedral in Saskatoon. Next to his wife and family, farming has had his heart and been his passion for his entire life. Other than farming, Emiel had spent some time working in the gold mines and lumber camps of North Western Ontario when he was 16 years old. During their early married years from 1946 through 1951, Emiel and Agnes spent one winter in Toronto and five in Calgary, working during the winter months. They have many fond memories of the friendships they made during these years. In the late 50s and early 60s, he was employed locally at Pilot Butte (Gravel Pit), in addition to farming full-time. He also spent a number of summers working with government crop programs in the early 70s. Emiel sat on the school board for many years and was also actively involved with coaching peewee baseball and hockey. For a number of years in the 1990s up until the mid-2000s, Dad was a councillor in the RM of Wreford which he enjoyed immensely. He will be fondly remembered as a man who had a great memory for local history and could tell you who lived on each and every farm throughout the county side. Dad was also a great one to visit and was always happy to strike up a conversation with friends or complete strangers. Family was the most important part of his life and many happy times were had at the farm and at Etter's, Vance's, Huggins, Manitou and Waskesieu Lake. Wonderful and caring neighbours have made life a whole lot sweeter and memorable during the lifetime Dad, Mom and our family have spent on our farm. Emiel will be sadly missed by: his daughters, Janet (Alan) Parnell and Margaret (Michael) Schmit; son, Emiel (Florine) Dahms; grandchildren, Stacey (Jay) Antonio, Shannon (Isaac) Kendall, Jana (Ken) Siepman, Chris Parnell (Sarah), Ben Parnell (Shayla), Stephanie Schmit, Katie Parnell; great-grandchildren, Brett Schmit and Xander Siepman. He is also survived by his nephew Wayne (Daphne) Ash, his niece Bonnie Isaacson, his nephew Gary (Margaret) Isaacson his nephew Peter (Eugenia) Powers and his cousins Mary Knoblauch, Camilla Smith, Florian Galbraith and Edwin (Olga) Dahms. He is also survived by many other cousins and dear friends. DAYTON - Georgina Elizabeth (nee Hitcherick), late of Imperial, SK., passed away on Friday, March 29th, 2002 at the age of 89 years. With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Mary Duke, formerly of Imperial, Saskatchewan, our beloved Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma on May 13th, 2003 at Hillcrest Extendicare in Calgary. Born in Pense, Mary taught school for many years in Saskatchewan beginning her career at Beaver Bluff school near Preeceville. She left teaching for a number of years to start her family and help Glen operate a General Store at Summerberry for seven years. They returned to teaching and she taught in Hyas, Stenen, Preeceville and Imperial. Upon retirement, Mary and Glen took to gardening with vigor, supplying many family and friends with the fruits (and vegetables) of their labour. Mary also did handicrafts; beaded bells and quilting were two of her favorites. They had RV'd for many years and in retirement headed off in their motor home for the southern States for seven winters. In the fall of 2000 Mary moved to Calgary to be closer to her family. Connie was born in Stalwart and raised in Imperial, Sask. Her presence and pizzaz will be sorely missed by her family and many friends. Predeceased by husband John in 1991, Connie is survived by sisters Phyllis McLeod (Bruce) of Vernon, BC., Marnie Radul (George) of Maple Ridge, BC., Doreen McMillan (Ken) of Regina, Sask., two brothers, Gordon Lucas (Rosemarie) Calgary, Alta. and David Lucas (Margret) of Victoria, BC. and many cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws in the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States. She kept track of us all with great affection. GARMAN - Patricia Jeannine (nee Mooney) passed away at home on the evening of January 12, 2009 after a brief and courageous battle with breast cancer. She was 54 years old. Jeannine was born July 27, 1954 at Imperial, SK. to William and Martha (nee Hignett) Mooney. She grew up on the family farm which she loved with eleven siblings. She attended Imperial School until grade 11, graduating in Burnaby, BC. She loved sports, particularly track and field. She worked for Family Service Bureau and the public library in Burnaby, Paramount Beauty Salon and a health fitness studio in Saskatoon. In 1979 she married Henry Garman and they lived near Grandora and in Saskatoon. Jeannine was a loving mother, devoted to her four children. She played piano and percussion, loved drama, painted acrylics and with her husband created many celebration banners. She loved to worship Jesus in liturgical dance. She took many counselling courses and was always concerned about and praying for others. Jeannine was positive inspiration to all who met her. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband, Henry; four children, Elenna, Matthew, Julie, Kimberly; granddaughters, Taliyah and Ava; her brothers, Ed, Dan, Erin and Jim Mooney; her sisters, Joyce, Carol, Marilyn, Sherron, Linda, Gayle; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. GOETHALS - George, of Moose Jaw, formerly of the Imperial/Davidson area, passed away July 4, 2011 at the age of 88. George was born June 6, 1923 to Jules and Irma Goethals. He was born and raised in the Davidson area. He took over the family farm in 1962. He also was an implement salesman for Smith Roles in Saskatoon. On November 25, 1952 he married Irene Schnurr, and they had three children, Julian George born in 1954, Kenneth Henry in 1957, and Darlene Beatrice in 1965. George & Irene built a new house in Davidson in 1986 and sold the farm in 1991. In 2008, George retired to Moose Jaw and lived with his daughter Darlene. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, travelling, and spending time with his family and friends. Predeceased by his wife Irene, sons George and Kenneth, and sister Mary Remmington, George will be sadly missed by his daughter Darlene; daughter-in-law Deb (Jim Fincaryk); grandchildren Theo Goethals and Jorde Goethals (Jodi McMillan); sister Sally O'Brodovitch, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Interment will take place at the Imperial Cemetery at a later date. GOODSMAN - George Edward Goodsman was born to William & Evelina (nee Price) at home on his father�s homestead on October 18, 1917. He took his schooling at Bermuda School and completed grade eight before leaving school to assist his father on the farm. He remained a farmer all of his life. He grew up in the age of horses and always loved them. He owned and enjoyed horses throughout his lifetime. He chose to serve his Lord and Master in 1933 at the age of 16 and was faithful to this choice to the end of his days. He married Jean when he was 35 years old and was married for almost 61 years. He died peacefully in the Davidson Health Centre on October 26, 2013 at the age of 96. In his younger days, George loved to have fun and was known to be a tease. He had a wonderful memory for numbers, names and events until his final illness. We have lost a link with the history of this community as well as the history related to friends and family. In the last stage of his life his caregivers remarked on how thankful he was. He is dearly loved and fondly remembered by his wife Jean of Stalwart; 3 sons: Gordon of Thailand (Brenda); Gary (Bonny) and Glenn of Stalwart ; and his daughter Gayla of Lethbridge, AB as well as grandchildren Devin, Tanna and Jeric and step-grandchildren Sheena, Chelsea (Tyler, Kale) and Sean. GRAVES - Barbara Gwendolyn Rose (nee Fetterley) died peacefully in Royal Jubilee Hospital, Sept 4, 2004 age 69. Born May 1, 1935 in Stalwart, SK. daughter of Charles Fetterley and May Parker. She grew up on the family homestead in Imperial and later, in Victoria. Predeceased by several siblings and her infant daughter, Elizabeth Joan. She is survived by her daughters Lorraine (Michael), Kathy (Brian); grandchildren Timothy and Angela; her cat Sweetie, a daughter placed for adoption in Nov 68, Diva, as well as a large supportive family of brothers and sisters. Her small community of friends helped her immeasurably. Mom was a gentle, loving soul who struggled most of her adult life with shyness and mental illness. Her creativity found many outlets including sewing. Mom's love of music was passed onto her daughters. It is her gentle, respectful way with children we will remember most. On May 28th, 2012, surrounded by her family, Karen was welcomed into the presence of Jesus her Lord and Saviour. Karen leaves to mourn her loving husband of 40 years Evan, and their children Kristy (Duane) Neufeld, Kathy (Jed) Williams, Kandi (Darren) Holland, Korrie (Jeff) Maxwell, Kelly (Sara) Gullacher and Kent Gullacher. Karen is predeceased by her son Klay, father Robert McIntosh, parents-in-law Roy and Myrtle Gullacher, sister-in-law Joyce Jantz, brother-in-law Dale Enarson and nephew David Jantz. Karen was raised on a farm near Simpson, Sk . At 14 Karen made the decision to accept Jesus as her Lord and Saviour a decision she said was "the best thing I ever did in my whole life". After high school she moved to Saskatoon and attended Central Pentecostal College and took hairdressing at Marvel Beauty School. In 1972 she married Evan Gullacher and they spent 40 years together farming near Imperial, SK. They were blessed with seven children and she appreciated the uniqueness of each one of them.Over the years Karen enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandma and friend. She always found time for people and would often say, "People are more important than things". Some of Karen's favourite things were bike trips with her hubby, quilting, meeting people, collecting quotes, asking people their "favourites", zippy music, words, popcorn clouds, big old houses, sending cards, and paper. Despite the health struggles that Karen faced, she enjoyed life thoroughly. Karen chose to have a positive outlook on life no matter what she was faced with.Funeral service will be held at the Community Centre in Imperial, Sk. on June 2nd at 2:00 p.m. with interment prior to the service at 11:00 a.m. at Lake City Cemetery. GUSTAFSON HANNA - John Garth Hanna of Cardross passed away peacefully on February 24, 2011 at the age of 80 years. Garth was born April 12, 1930 to Ed and Wilhemina Hanna on the family farm near Horizon, SK. The family moved to Imperial in 1946. Garth began working with the Department of Highways. Garth married Elizabeth Braun in 1957. After working in Regina for a few years they moved to Cardross to farm in 1964. Garth was a member of the Assiniboia Masonic Lodge, Assiniboia Shriner's Club and a councilor with the RM of Terrell 101.He is predeceased by his parents Ed and Wilhemina; son Stewart; brother Neil; sister Fran and stepdad Archie Robertson. Garth will be sadly missed by his wife, Elizabeth; children Scott (Debbie), Maureen, Rodney (Tracy) and Darcy; grandchildren Jamie (Ashley), Chris, Darren, Ryan, Laura-Lee, and Leah; one great-grandchild on the way; brothers Allison (Jo) Hanna, Dale (Diane) Hanna as well as numerous nieces and nephews. HART - Clarence Earl (March 12, 1918 � April 13, 1921). After a week�s illness and much suffering little Clarence Hart, was called to the Home Beyond on Wednesday evening. The sympathy of the community is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Hart in their sorrow and bereavement. The snatching away of a child-healthy and full of promise-is a mystery around which parents in every age have shed many tears. A Power beyond ourselves confronts us on the way which we have mapped out for ourselves and which we thought to lie straight ahead. Then, in a moment of mental and soul agony, we realize that there may be, concealed from view turns in the way, sharp, swift and awful. Hope wilts, plans crumble and the lights fade as the chilly hand claims our loved one for his own. O, the meaning of it all! The heart has blinded the eyes with tears so that our vision is indistinct, but out of the agony, a voice with a tenderness not of this world whispers to us that:�Another frail barque out of the tempest Lies in God�s harbour safe.� We continue the way-but a new way-the messenger we met was a friend from the Homeland. For the Cross we carry we have found a compensation. And in the clearer vision of faith and love unchanged we decry in clearer outline the city of God with its many mansions providing room for all, where the young never grow old and the aged enjoy the vitality of youth, where the broken arcs of earth become the perfect round in Heaven. HART - Frank James Hart, age 79, of Sherwood Park, Alberta, passed away Monday, May 28, 2001, following a long and very courageous battle with cancer. He was born on July 5, 1921, to Anna Hart at the Webster home in Imperial, 5 days after the death of her husband. He attended early years of elementary school in Watrous. Then the family moved to the farm northwest of Imperial, and he first attended the Hamilton country school, then Imperial elementary school, and finally, Imperial High School. He attended the University of Saskatchewan from 1939 to 1941, enrolled in the College of Commerce. In 1941, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He spent many weeks of training at the Airforce Base in Rivers, Manitoba, then went overseas where he was stationed in London, England for four years, serving as a flight instructor and piloting WWII aircraft, the "Mosquito" known for its lightness and speed. In 1945, he returned to Imperial where he began farming. He married Verna Lakness in 1947 and they remained in Imperial for 53 years. They farmed, raised their family, and enjoyed many years with dear friendships. His life in Imperial was one of great community commitment, serving on many local boards, including the rink board, the Imperial Hospital Board, the school board, and the United Church board. While serving in the capacity of chairman to the hospital board and the school board, he was instrumental in the construction of new facilities, resulting in a new school and a new hospital for Imperial. He also served on the Wood Creek Municipal Council, took a role as leader of the United Church Tyro Boys' Group, coached hockey, was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, and the Masonic Lodge, and was involved in numerous fund raisers for the community. During these years he enjoyed curling and was actively involved in the winter bonspiels. In 1979, he and Verna spent their first winter south in Arizona. They purchased a home in Sun Lakes, Arizona, and were "snowbirds" for the next 20 years, where he was blessed with new and everlasting friendships. He developed a zest for golf and a passion for wintering in Sun Lakes. His family and friends have many fond memories of this 'eager enthusiasm' to get to Arizona in the fall. After his illness and consequent need for treatment, they sold their long time home in Imperial and moved to Sherwood Park, Alberta. He remained there until the time of his passing. He is fondly remembered by his family for the way he embraced life and influenced the lives of all those around him. His memory will last with us forever as a cherished husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his wife, Verna, of 53 years, children: Sharilyn (Alan) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Larry (Barb) of Imperial, Sask., Cyndy (Peter) of Humboldt, Sask., Catherine (Rob) of Sherwood Park, Alberta, brother, Harold (Charlene) of Ventura, California, and grandchildren, Josh (Karla), Jillian, Jon, Riley, Britni, Brennon, Paul, Cody, Molly, Joel, Tanner, and nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by an infant daughter, his father, Frank Hart, his mother and stepfather, Anna and Eric Carlson, brothers in childhood, Maurice and Clarence and sisters, Isabel, Mabel, and Hazel. There will be a memorial service on Monday, June 4, at 2:00 p.m. at the Imperial United Church. Pallbearers are his grandchildren and honorary pallbearers will be his friends. HART - Franklin. One of the greatest shocks to come to this community was the death of Mr. Frank Hart. During the past two months or so he at times did not feel in his usual robust condition but did not think for a moment that there was anything vitally wrong. On Sunday, June 26th, 1921 he took suddenly ill immediately after dinner. Dr. Waugh was called in and on Monday night accompanied Frank to the Regina General Hospital where he underwent surgery. On Thursday morning he passed away, death being caused by what physicians term a surgical shock. With the exception of very occasional moments of delirium, Mr. Hart was entirely conscious right to the last. Mrs. Hart was with him from early Wednesday morning. Her twin sister and husband, from Watrous and Frank�s brother, Jack from Assiniboia were too, at the bedside when the end came, not in the agony of pain but in the calm of perfect peace. From early Wednesday morning Mr. Hart firmly believed that he was not going to recover and his repeated assurance to those present was of his eager anticipation of meeting, in �the home beyond�, his two boys. The service was held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Webster - the three ministers of Imperial, Revs. Eakin, Imgram and Mason taking part. The six pall-bearers were neighbours of the Harts since they came to this district eight years ago. The chief mourners were Mrs. Hart and her children, Isabel, Mabel and Hazel; Mr. Hart�s father and three brothers, Jack, Russ and Abe; Mrs. Hart�s father and step-mother, Tobias and Johanna Sveindal, and brother, Mrs. Hart�s brother, Tom; her sister, Gertie and husband Henry Mogen. Also many cousins and friends from Watrous, Renown, Young and Simpson. The very high esteem in which the family is held by the entire community was indicated by the concourse of people at the funeral. Seldom, if ever, has there been such a large procession to our village cemetery. Franklin Hart was born in Oro Township, Simcoe County Ontario on May 24, 1880. He came west about 1900 and after a short stay in British Columbia settled in Watrous. He was a devoted husband, an affectionate father, a citizen highly respected and full of promise for self-sacrificing interest in all things pertaining to the welfare of the community, whose sincere sympathy is extended to Mrs. Hart and children in their great loss, and ours, too. HART - Maurice Leonard (April 18, 1912 - April 23, 1921). In last week�s paper we reported the death of Mr. and Mrs. Hart�s three year old son, Clarence. This week very regretfully we record the death of their elder boy Maurice. He died on Saturday after a week�s illness and is buried beside his little brother in our local cemetery. Maurice was a gentle and loveable boy, a favourite with all who knew him, possessing for a boy of his age, a wonderful sense of rightness and wrongness. He loved to pray and excelled in it. His prays for his little brother were very fervent, and the last words audible from himself was a prayer about his going away. To the sorrowing parents this will be a happy recollection, a source of inspiration and hope for coming days, a commentary on the well known words: �Alas! For here if thou wert all,and nought beyond,O! earth.� The sincere sympathy of the community for Mr. and Mrs. Hart in the loss of their two boys, was at least expressed in part by the floral tributes from friends and family, the Junior Room Public School , and The Ladies Aid of the Methodist and Presbyterian Churches. HART - Verna Elida (nee Lakness) January 28, 1928 - October 23, 2011. Verna Elida Hart, age 83, of Imperial, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 23, 2011, with her family by her side. She was a kind, caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and neighbour. Verna was born in Govan SK, the third of four girls, to Thorvald and Mabel Lakness. She was raised in a loving Norwegian family and community that recognized the value of hard work and the joy of good clean fun. Upon completion of high school, Verna took a position with the Royal Bank in Imperial, where she met a dashing young farmer and veteran, Frank Hart. They fell in love and were married on June 27, 1947. They spent the next 53 years in Imperial, where they farmed, raised their family and enjoyed many years of dear friendships. Mom fully embraced the demanding life of a rural Saskatchewan farm wife. She prepared meals, drove truck, moved equipment and did whatever else was necessary to help her husband with the farming operation. This, of course, was just a small part of her regular day, as she was also responsible to make sure the household ran smoothly...and it was here that Mom truly was the consummate professional. She was incredibly organized, making sure her family was not just well-fed and wellscrubbed, but also actively involved in school, church, sports, and music. And all the while, she enthusiastically pursued her own interests and friendships, playing cards, doing handiwork (such as quilting, needlepoint, knitting, various crafts), teas and socials, Eastern Star, the UCW, and of course, singing alto in the choir. Mom was a tireless volunteer in whatever community she was a part of, preparing and serving food, planning events, and simply doing whatever else was needed to `get the job done'. Starting in 1979, Mom and Dad spent the next twenty winters in Sun Lakes, Arizona, where she once again was actively involved in organizing and taking part in everything that was going on. After Dad passed away in 2001, Mom forged new friendships and memories in Sherwood Park, Alberta until 2007 and then at Primrose Chateau in Saskatoon. She joyfully returned `home` to Imperial this past July, where she thoroughly enjoyed the warm care and love of family, friends, and the staff of Imperial's fabulous Integrated Facility. We were all lucky enough to have the opportunity to recognize what an incredibly wonderful, intelligent, talented, thoughtful woman she really was, and to appreciate the life-long influence Mom had on each of us. HICKS - Helen Catherine (nee Diamond). It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Helen Catharine Hicks on Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at the age of 89 years. Helen had a great love of music. For many years they played in the Hicks Orchestra in the Simpson area. Helen played the piano and was an amazing saxophone player. She instilled her love of music in her children and grandchildren. Helen loved to bake and cook and was a wonderful homemaker. Her family was the most important thing in her life. HIGNETT - John David (March 16, 1938 � October 8, 2014). It is with great sadness his family announces the passing of John Hignett, aged 76 years, of Imperial, Sask. John was born March 16, 1938 in Stalwart. In 1964 he married his wife Deanna. They lived between Imperial and Stalwart and farmed west of Stalwart. In 2004 John semi-retired and rented out his farmland. He will be remembered for raising five sons. He loved to garden, show others his cattle and solve Sudoko puzzles. HILDERMAN - Diane Hilderman, widow of the late Bob Hilderman passed away on Sunday, January 6th 2013 at Yorkton. She was 79 years of age. Diane was born at Imperial, Sask. but lived in Regina as a young woman where she met Bob. In 1960 the couple moved to Yorkton, where they had since resided. Diane was involved in the Royal Purple, UCT, ACT and a local bridge club for many years. She was also a great Yorkton Terrier Hockey Club fan, and billeted many players in her home over the years. Survived by her son Brian (Delores) Hilderman of Yorkton; her daughter Lori (Barry) Barsi of Yorkton; grandchildren: Craig Hilderman (Liddy) and Kristin Moser (Chris & Brooklyn) Keith and Kevin Barsi. Interment in the Yorkton City Cemetery. HILL - Donald Maurice, aged 73 years, passed away at St. Paul�s Hospital, Saskatoon, Sask. on Wednesday, April 26, 2017. Donald was born on May 13, 1943 in East St. Paul, Man. His parents Roger and Wally and three siblings, Dorothy, Bruce and David all grew up in Imperial, Sask. He left home at an early age to work on the oil rigs before getting into heavy equipment operating in British Columbia, specializing as a finishing grader operator. He married Yvonne and they raised three children, Peter, Kevin and Nicole. He was handy with his hands enjoying making bural tables, clocks, etc. He also enjoyed sports like stock car racing, F1 racing, football and hockey. He was a big Saskatchewan Riders fan even while living in B.C. He had a lot of pride for the work he did and his company HCL Construction in Moose Jaw. Don grew ill in early 2017 and rapidly worsened before passing away from liver and kidney failure on April 26, 2017 in St. Paul�s Hospital, Saskatoon. Don is survived by his loving family, three children: Peter, Kevin and Nicole (Hidenori); two granddaughters Jasmine and Christina; sister Dorothy (Mervin), two brothers Bruce (Charlene), David (Pat) and a number of nephews. Len's family was his pride and joy, his grandchildren were very special to him. HILL - Richard Kenneth. The death of Richard Kenneth (Ken) Hill aged 89 years of Imperial SK occurred at the Long Lake Valley Integrated Facility in Imperial on Tuesday April 30, 2002. Wally was born in Joslisobka, Poland. She came to Canada when she was 3 years old and resided at Hudson Bay, Sask. She moved to Imperial where she met Roger. They married on October 13, 1944 and had four children. She worked tirelessly on the farm raising her family and assisted behind the scenes at Hill�s Meat Market. Wally loved to curl, golf, and fish. She loved her crafts and loved to dress up and make costumes for various events. Visiting with friends and neighbours was always a top priority for her and supporting her community. JELINSKI - Josephine "Joie" (nee Klenk) died peacefully at the Pasqua Hospital November 18, 2002 at the age of 91 years. Joie was born in Imperial, SK in 1911. In 1923 she moved with her parents to Regina where she lived her life to the end. She married Arnold in 1935. Joie was predeceased by her husband Arnold; parents Charles and Magdalena Klenk; three brothers in their infancy; brothers John (Margaret), Joseph (Helen), William (Nellie), Henry (Jeanette), Robert (Margaret); two sisters Mary and Emma Klenk, and daughter-in-law Bunny Jelinski. Joie is survived by five sons, Donald, Leonard (Loretta) of Regina, Gerald (Georgina) of Cochrane, Al (Dianna), Raymond (Karen) of Regina; three daughters Mary Anne of Winnipeg, Jo Anne RNDM of Brandon, Sharon (Walter) LaBrash of Regina, and brother Frank of Imperial; eighteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Joie was very active in St. Mary's Parish. She was president of the C.W.L., served as Secretary and Treasurer on both the Diocesan and Provincial Councils, and co-chairman for the National Council. She led the daily rosary, directed funeral choir masses, and was a member of St. Mary's choir. Joie also spent many years catering for the church, weddings and senior citizen's activities. Joie's family meant everything to her which extended to caring for foster children as well. She loved her family. The Johns and Shout families of Zelma sadly report the death of their nephew, Bryant Earl Johns, on April 11, 2011 at Fort Vermillion, Alberta. Bryant had been the coordinator of the Kayas Cree Cultural College for the last twenty years. He provided adult education opportunities to the members of the Little Red River Cree First Nation, lived in John D'Or Prairie and became completely immersed in the traditions of the people. Bryant is survived by his wife, Patsy; his children, Amanda, Carson, Kaylee, Brianna and Brennan; two granddaughters; his parents Bob and Arlene Johns of Calgary; and his sisters, Connie and Cathy. Born in Imperial, Saskatchewan on December 19, 1961, Bryant grew up in the Northwest Territories. He earned his Bachelor Degree in Music Education from the University of Saskatchewan. He immersed himself in the Little Red River Cree traditions and spoke the Cree language. As coordinator of the college he touched many lives. His advice to the students was to get an education, be successful and live a good life. For Bryant, music was a part of his good life. He had taught music, composed and performed his own music, and enjoyed jamming with his musical friends. On April 16, 2011, Bryant was accorded the traditional Cree Funeral Ceremony, and interment was in the John D'Or Prairie Cemetery. KELLY - Gladys Lorraine (nee Robertson). The death of Mrs. Gladys Kelly aged 96 years of Imperial, SK. occurred peacefully on Tuesday July 14, 2015 at the Long Lake Valley Integrated Facility. A memorial service will be held in the Imperial Community Center on Tuesday July 21st at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Imperial Cemetery. KENNEDY - Gilbert Henry. The death of Gilbert Henry Kennedy aged 69 years of Imperial SK occurred at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina on Monday February 14, 2005. The Funeral Service will be held in St. Andrew's United Church in Imperial on Friday February 18th at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Imperial Cemetery. KENNEDY - Gordon Alexander. The death of Gordon Alexander Kennedy aged 81 years of Imperial SK occurred at Regina General Hospital on Wednesday, October 17, 2012. The Funeral Service will be held in St. Andrew's United Church in Imperial on Saturday, October 20th at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Imperial Cemetery. Gordie was predeceased by his parents Alex and Mathilda and by brothers Gilbert and Jim. KIDD - Grace Lenore (nee Sheldon) December 28, 1919 � December 12, 2016. It is with sadness and recognition of a life well lived that the family announces the passing of Grace Kidd. Grace was predeceased by her parents James and Netta Sheldon, her husband William "Bill", her sisters Margaret and May, brothers-in-law Thomas Bocking and Earl "Sandy" Hughes, Emil Kidd, and sister-in-law Johana Kidd. She is survived by her sons Dennis and Andrew, niece Irene (Dave) Daniels and family of Colorado, nephew Keith Hughes and family of Florida, and longtime friend, Margaret Yeo. Grace spent her growing years on a farm in the Imperial District. Being a child of the Great Depression, she learned the values of thrift, honesty, self-reliance and to help others when you could. She met the love of her life while on the farm, and in 1942, she and Bill were married. They soon moved to Regina and began raising their family. Grace was a stay home mother while her family was young, working the Christmas season at Sears Catalogue Centre. Teaching herself to type she worked part time jobs, until obtaining a position at the R.C.M.P. crime lab at the Regina Training Barracks. In the 60s she moved to a position with The Saskatchewan Government Department of Agriculture, where she worked until her retirement. Grace was very active in the St. Paul's and St. James' Anglican Churches, the Regina Food Bank, where she donated hours of administrative time, the Rebecca's, and Regina Horticultural Society, only slowing down as age dictated. Grace will be remembered for her generous spirit, her love of family, her unwavering loyalty to friends, and generosity to those in need. She was a wonderful lady and will be greatly missed. Donations in Grace's memory can be made to the Regina Food Bank or the Regina Animal Shelter. Interment of cremated remains will be held in the summer of 2017. KING - Shirley Mae (nee Thompson) passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 10, 2008 at the age of 69 years at St. Paul's Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her five children and fourteen grandchildren, Jim King (Janice Hale), Megan and James; Janice (Larry) St. Germain, Becky and Nicole; Judy (Greg) Willey, Sammy, Liz and Mitch; Jerry (Melody) King, Taneil, Alexis, Ryan and Courtney; Joanne (Jay) Hrycuik, Jessica, Brooklyn and Joshua. Also her siblings, Ruth (Irv) Stevens, Ley Thompson (Anne McLeod), Debbie (Rick) Hales; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Alex in 1996, and by her parents, Art and Alice Thompson. Shirley was born on the family farm near Imperial, SK on August 13, 1938. She received her education in Imperial and later in Saskatoon where she moved with her parents and her family in 1948. She worked at Eaton's where she met Alex. They were married on June 1, 1957 in Saskatoon where they resided and raised their family. Shirley loved to read, watch television game shows, play bingo, and trips to the casino with her family. KLENK - Kathy Marie (September 21, 1975 - March 1, 2015) Kathy Klenk, aged 39 years, of Imperial, SK passed away peacefully at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon on Sunday, March 1st, 2015. Margaret Klenk passed away peacefully at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at the age of 82 years. She lived a very happy and healthy life up to this past year when she bravely faced cancer. Margaret was predeceased by her father and mother Bryden and Agnes Irwin and her sister Elaine. She is survived by her devoted husband Lawrence Klenk and all of her children: Lynda Busse of Calgary, AB; Judy Klenk of Pense, SK; Marvin Klenk (Pat) of Melfort, SK; Maureen Klenk-Dietrich (Don) of Regina, SK; David Klenk (Tracie) of Melfort, SK; Donna Ell (Marc) of Regina, SK; and Bruce Klenk (Rita) of Nelson, BC. KLENK - Ronald Kenneth, age 62 years, passed away peacefully with family by his side, at the Long Lake Valley Integrated Health Care Facility in Imperial, on Saturday, March 12, 2016, due to a short battle with cancer. Ron was born October 1, 1953, in Imperial, to Henry and Jeannette Klenk. He grew up on the family farm south of Imperial, and attended school in Imperial. He was an active farmer, and in the last 10 years, was employed by Blair's at Liberty. Ron's greatest passions were his family and friends, hunting, fishing, golfing, and recently camping. Ron has been the Mayor of Imperial for almost 4 years, and town councillor for several years prior. He sat on numerous local Boards, including Chairman of the St. Pius X Catholic Church Board, Saskatchewan Highways and Infrastructure, Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation and the local Co-op Board. He was a Firearm & Safety instructor for several years and was on the Board and an installer for the Imperial Cable System since it's inception. His town and community were very important to him, and he was always willing to help anyone. Ron was predeceased by his daughter Kathy Klenk, parents Henry and Jeannette Klenk, uncle Frank Klenk, father-in-law Russell Kerr, brother-in-law Bob Kerr. LADYKA - Nancy Ladyka, Grenfell, Sask., passed away peacefully on Monday, November 26, 2007 at the age of 79 years following a brief illness. Nancy was born in Bristol, England on August 5, 1928 and moved to Canada in 1955 to teach school at Imperial, Sask. Nancy married Michael Ladyka in 1956, and they lived in Stalwart, Sask., where their sons Colin and Alan were born. In 1965 the family moved to Grenfell, where Nancy taught in the Grenfell Elementary School until her retirement. Nancy was active in her community and her Church. She had a special passion for the nature and the landscape of Saskatchewan. She took great joy in walks and drives through the Saskatchewan countryside, and had a keen interest in birds. Nancy was predeceased by her husband Mike in 1988, her parents Clifford and Dorothy Poolman and her brother Geoff Poolman. She is survived by her sons Colin and Alan, and many nieces and nephews. LAIDLAW - Edna Sutcliffe (nee McWhirter) Laidlaw, born October 31st, 1920, long-time resident of Summerberry and Grenfell, passed away peacefully at Lakeside Home, Wolseley, Sask. January 23rd, 2013 at the age of 92. Predeceased in 1990 by her husband of 39 years, Duke Alexander Laidlaw and two children Robert William (Bobby) Laidlaw in 1959 at age 9 and Dawn Elizabeth in infancy in 1957. Born on the Lewis farm at Stalwart, Sask., the second child of William and Frances Grace (Sutcliffe) McWhirter she was predeceased by her parents and siblings Ellen (Bill) Hoffman of Strasbourg, Sask., Isabel (Norman) George of Carlyle, Sask., Pat (Charlie) Shaw of Blyth, Ont., Mabel (Archie) Willis, Bill McWhirter, Jack (Kay) McWhirter and Elvin McWhirter all of Brussels, Ont., Bobby McWhirter and Andy McWhirter of Stalwart, Sask. Left to cherish her memory are sisters Elsie (Ralph) Olson of Edmonton, Alta., Evelyn (George) Kerr of Yorkton, Sask., and brother George (Bernice) McWhirter of Kitchener, Ont., brothers-in-law Charlie Shaw, Blyth, Ont., and Norman George, Carlyle, Sask. Edna will be greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews on both the McWhirter and Laidlaw sides of her family. Raised in the Imperial-Stalwart area, Edna attended the Ohio school to grade 6 and then completed the remainder of her early schooling in Regina, graduating as a teacher. She taught school in rural Saskatchewan for three years before enrolling in the Hamilton General Hospital School of Nursing in Hamilton, Ontario, graduating as a Registered Nurse. Returning to Saskatchewan, she began her nursing career in Grenfell where she met Duke Laidlaw who farmed in the Summerhill District. In 1951 Duke and Edna married and took up residence in Nelson, BC. Their son Bobby was born at Nelson in 1952. In 1953 Duke, Edna and Bobby moved to the Canim Lake and Hundred Mile House area of British Columbia. Baby Dawn was born at Kamloops in 1957 but died in infancy. Bobby passed away in 1959, both children victims of Cystic Fibrosis. During their years in BC, Duke was employed as manager of a ranch, while Edna took work in a local market where she learned and developed her meat-cutting skills. In 1961, Duke and Edna returned to Saskatchewan settling in Summerberry near Duke's family. Edna resumed her nursing career at the Grenfell Hospital where she continued to practice until retiring as the Director of Nursing in 1985. Duke was hired as the Maintenance Foreman for the hospital where he remained until retirement. During their retirement years together, Duke and Edna pursued their hobbies and interests, Edna developing her genealogy interests by documenting the family trees and history of the Laidlaw and McWhirter families, while Duke raised Registered Siberian and Malamute Husky dogs and fabricated equipment in his workshop. Highlights of their retirement years were trips to Scotland to research family history and re-establish family connections with relatives in the UK. Edna was a dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Legion and remained active in the Grenfell Branch where she coordinated the Legion sponsored Seniors Foot-care Clinics and provision of wreaths for the annual Remembrance Day Services. Retirement did not slow Edna down. She continued to live on the Summerberry acreage until moving to the Seniors Units in Grenfell where she resided until making her final move to Lakeside Home in Wolseley in January of 2012. The family wishes to acknowledge the kind care provided to Edna by the staff of Lakeside Home. Memorial donations to Cystic Fibrosis Canada will be greatly appreciated by the family. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service and interment ceremony will follow at a later date. LANE - Jean Elsie (nee Whyte) Lane passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at the Saskatoon Convalescent Home. Jean was predeceased by her father Robert Whyte (1979) and mother Jessie Whyte (nee Mitchell - 1997). She is survived by her niece Linda Whyte. Jean was born in Imperial, SK on March 14, 1933. The family moved to Saskatoon in 1946. Jean attended special classes at Victoria School. Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at 3:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens (8th Street East, first right past Briargate Road). Thank you to the staff at Saskatoon Convalescent Home for the wonderful care Jean received. LARSON - Marjorie Lois (nee Roney) October 4, 1938 - February 22, 2014. Marjorie Lois passed away peacefully at the age of 75 at Watrous Hospital on February 22, 2014. After growing up on the Roney farm near Imperial, Marj studied at Valley View Center in Moose Jaw, where she became a Registered Psych Nurse, graduating in 1961. At a hockey game in Imperial, she met Glenn Larson, a member of the local Lions hockey club, and married him in 1962. During their journey together, they resided in many Saskatchewan communities and parks, where they raised two children. Marj loved the outdoors, whether she was golfing, skiing, swimming, walking, camping, visiting on the deck, or especially gardening. She was happiest when socializing with family and friends, visiting at dances, shows and reunions. Her compassion, creativity, humour and thoughtfulness will be deeply missed. Marj was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Margaret Roney; her sister, Beth Crawford; her 3 brothers, Allan, Cliff and Barry; her brother-in-law, Cliff Hanna; her niece, Caren Hanna; and her great-niece (in infancy), Amanda Van Damme. She is survived and will be missed dearly by her loving husband Glenn, their two children Darin and Dawn (Marc) Banning, and her grandson Nicolas Larson. Marj will also be lovingly remembered by her sisters Jean (Corkie) Loewen, Eileen (Ernest) Van Damme and sisters-in-law Dorothy Roney and Lois Roney, brother-in-law Glenn Crawford and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Interment in Watrous Cemetery at a later date. LEVERE - Anganetha "Netha" (nee Ens) LeVere was born on June 7, 1938 to Aaron and Helen Ens in Carrot River, SK. She peacefully passed away at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina, SK on February 21, 2013 surrounded by family. She was currently residing in Semans SK. She met Harold LeVere and they were married on February 3, 1957. They had three daughters: Marlyne, Anna and Carol. After the passing of her oldest daughter she then raised her two grandchildren Penny and Anggy as her own, and moved back to Saskatchewan from Ontario in September 1979. She is predeceased by her parents; husband Harold; two daughters Marlyne and Anna and grand-daughter Penny. She is survived by her daughter Carol Williams and grand-daughter Anggy Ladner; brothers Henry (Judy) Ens of Regina, John (Hilda) Ens of Calgary, Peter (Ailsa) Ens of Australia; sisters Helen McLane of Regina, Kathy (John) Ens of Simpson, Ann Urjasz of Regina, Liz Ens of Regina and Susan (Bob) Rosney of Saskatoon; grandchildren Jodi, James and Kelly and great-grandchildren Harley, Kaely, Ryan, Colby, Annie, Elisha, Katie, Alex, Nathan and Trysten. Netha enjoyed watching curling and the Blue Jays play baseball and baseball in general. She rarely missed a game. She had a sport for summer and one for winter. She also enjoyed gardening, she had the biggest gardens, and cooking, she was always trying out new recipes she had seen on the Food Network. She said if she could live her life over again she would not change a thing. Her wedding day, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her fondest memories. She wanted her family to remember the help she had given to them through the years. Private Family Interment in Imperial Cemetery. LEWIS - Isabel Mildred (nee Hart) Lewis Lawrence (May 27, 1913 - November 16, 1996. Isabel was born in Watrous and passed away four days after hip surgery in hospital in Chandler Arizona. A funeral service was held in SunLakes Universal Church to one of the few capacity congregations ever. Many tributes to Isabel were given, one being that her devoted work in many capacities in the church brought it "out of the red". Interment in the Lewis family plot in the Imperial Cemetery followed the service in Imperial on November 23 where her eight grandchildren were the urn bearers. The eulogy here was delivered by niece Sharilyn Hart Woloschuk followed by a mini recital presented by former piano students and a grand daughter, Gwenneth Toews. Isabel was predeceased by her husband Bill (William Henry) Lewis in 1980, her father Frank Hart and two young brothers in 1921, her step father, Erik Carlson in 1982 and her mother Annie in 1985. She is survived by her husband Phil Lawrence of SunLakes Arizona, her children Deanna (David Toews, Gwenneth and Eric); Bill Lewis (Lois, Grant, Karla) and Bob Lewis (Rae, Shaun, Trevor, Daryl and Angela). Born and educated in Watrous Sask., Isabel attended Normal School becoming a teacher at Hamilton rural school near her early years farm home west of Imperial. All through school Isabel studied piano with Mrs. Gordon in Watrous and earned her ATCM degree. Along with the demands of being a farmer�s wife, she taught piano and theory in the Imperial district for 41 years and gave her time and boundless energy to any and all organizations in the community including the United Church in which she became the official organist in 1946. Isabel was accompanist to choirs and any individual or other group who needed accompanying and organist for numerous weddings and funerals. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and participated in Grand Chapter twice. For the Order in Imperial she instigated the idea of, patterned,and chose suitable music for a Grand March to be used to open each meeting. She was a substitute teacher for Imperial School. In SunLakes her energy continued with involvement in the church Bell Choir where she was responsible for �many bell notes' and church organist when called upon. Isabel and Phil entertained (piano and flute) at SunLakes functions. Isabel enjoyed curling and had a life long interest in knitting playing bridge and entertaining. LEWIS - Margaret Leonora (nee Erwin). We much regret to report the passing of Mrs. W. E. Lewis at the Imperial Union Hospital on Tuesday, November 4th, 1952 at the age of 81. With her death another link with the early days is broken. Margaret Lenora Erwin was born in Newport, Shelby County, Ohio September 12th, 1871 and married Eltie Lewis in Casstown Ohio on December 24th, 1891. After proving up land in Canada, the couple, with their 5 year old daughter, Esther, settled on their land in 1905 living in a tent in the beginning. The frail little lady, who had been in hospital almost continuously since April this year, endured much suffering lately, and her passing was a merciful release. The funeral was held on November 7th in the Imperial United Church with Rev. Hewson officiating. The impressive memorial rites of the Order of the Eastern Star were conducted around the casket. Flowers in the emblematic colours were deposited by the Star points. Attending the service from a distance were Mrs. Septimus Allomby from Strongfield, Miss Eleanor Coulter, grand-daughter, from Weyburn and Mrs. Walter. North from Regina. LEWIS - William Elton Lewis an old timer in the Imperial district passed away in the Union Hospital here on Sunday, May 25th, 1952 after a long illness patiently borne. Elton was born in Fletcher, Miami County,Ohio on July 27th, 1870 son of William A. Lewis and Melissa Ann Hance. Mother Melissa died when her son was thirteen months old. Elton and wife Maggie proved up land in 1904 in Canada in what was known as Assiniboia Territory, later to become Saskatchewan. This land was on Long Lake and a small community known as Lewisport sprang up around his farm. There Mr. Lewis had a small store and post-office. The couple retired from the farm in 1944 and took up residence in Imperial. "Pop", as he was affectionately known to all, was keenly interested in all phases of community life. He served on the telephone board as President, was an organizer of the Long Lake Agricultural Society,and was a Justice of the Peace for 20 years. He took an interest in curling and was often a spectator at the rink, even as recently as last spring�s bonspiel. Mr. Lewis was a life member of the Acacia Lodge, A.F. and A.M; member of the Imperial Chapter No.65 of the Order of the Eastern Star; ,three divisions of the Scottish Rite and a member of the Shrine. He leaves to mourn him, his widow, a son Bill Lewis, a daughter, Esther Coulter, six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mrs W. E. Lewis, at present, in the hospital, was able to be present at a private family service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27th. For the Masonic funeral at 2:00 p.m. the church was crowded to capacity. Brethern from Liberty, Stalwart and Govan attended. Rev. Johnsrude based his sermon on Ecclasiastes: Chapter 12 "Remember Thy Creator in the Days of Thy Youth", supported by music in the form of duets, choir and sextette sung by community choir members. LEWIS - William Henry (January 15, 1912 - June 16, 1980. Bill Lewis, age 68, passed away at his home suddenly and unexpectedly early Monday morning. He was born at the family farm near Long Lake 12 miles east of Imperial. He took over and expanded this farm around 1944. Bill�s early schooling was taken at Ohio country school near the farm and later as a dormitory student at Regina College where he excelled in rugby, basketball and track 1926-1930. On October 30th, 1935 he was married to Isabel Hart and soon after moving into town in 1946 the couple became involved in many community associations. Bill was active in the United Church serving on the Board of Stewards, the Session Board and was Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He was a charter member of the Imperial and District Lions Club in 1954; a town council member that lead to his becoming Mayor in 1967 through to 1974. He coached and managed the younger boys� hockey and baseball. Bill was a member of the Acacia Lodge #101 moving up to District representative. He was President of the Rink Board, President of the Curling Club more than once and President of the Hospital Board. From 1953-1970 Bill, with partner Bob Kelly owned and managed the Ford and John Deere sales and garage in Imperial. Bill was a member of the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. He was an avid sports fan and a V.I.P of the Saskatchewan Roughriders Football Club. Bill and Isabel �began� retirement in the early 1970�s by traveling throughout the United States, attending several Silver Brooms and finally purchasing a winter residence in SunLakes, Arizona in 1977 where they enjoyed golfing, socializing and having family visitors. Bill�s funeral service was held on Wednesday in St. Andrew�s United Church with Rev,Tom Phillips officiating. His sermon was based on the Book of Ecclesiastes. MARCKOSKI - Diane (June 21, 1947 - August 27, 2010). Diane, our beloved wife, mom and grandma, passed away at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon on Friday, August 27, 2010 at the age of 63. Diane leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 42 years, John, her children Anita and Steve and her precious grandkids, Erica, Christopher and Cody. Diane also leaves behind sisters, Judy and Rose, brothers Charlie, Dennis, Glen, Len, Lyle and Norman, sisters and brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews, treasured friends and co-workers. Diane was born in Imperial, SK in 1947. She was raised on a farm just outside of Imperial and attended Rolling Ridge School and Imperial High School. She went on to do her nurse's training in Moose Jaw, where she met her husband John, who she married in 1968. Diane worked at Valley View Centre in Moose Jaw for one year after graduating, then she and John moved to North Battleford where she worked at Sask. Hospital for two years. Diane and John then moved to Saskatoon, where Diane worked psychiatry at RUH for 30 plus years. Diane was a devoted mom, and so therefore a dedicated sports fan, travelling with her kids' teams all over Western Canada where she and John made many lifelong friends. Diane also enjoyed golf, tending her many flowers, travelling with friends and family, crocheting, and of course, shopping. Diane's passion, and favorite pastime was her grandkids. She loved spending time with them at the lake, in her yard, or just anywhere. She had one very special trip to Hawaii with her granddaughter, Erica that was full of special memories. A Celebration of Life, Memorial Service will be held Tuesday August 31, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Saskatoon Funeral Home, with interment at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, and luncheon to follow at the W. A. Edwards Family Centre. MARTYNOOK - Marlene Sylvia (nee Reeves) of Imperial, aged 68 years, passed away at the Long Lake Valley Integrated Facility on Sunday, July 13, 2008. Marlene was born at the family home, twelve miles west of Imperial. She attended Rouse School to the end of grade four and then moved with the family to Imperial where she completed her schooling. Upon completing high school she attended the University of Saskatchewan followed by Teachers College. Marlene then started her teaching career at Stanley Mission, on to Fort Chipewyan and to Fort McMurray. There she met Rick Martynook and they were married on January 2, 1965 at the R.C.M.P. Chapel in Regina. Shortly after that they were stationed at Stoney Plain and then on to Ottawa. Marlene attended Carleton University and on completion began working for the R.C.M.P. In 1988 Marlene and Rick built their retirement home on Howe Island. In 1996 Rick passed away and that summer Marlene returned to Imperial. Over the pas t two years Marlene has battled cancer very courageously coping with chemotherapy and radiation. Marlene was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and bird watching. She was an animal lover. Marlene is survived by two brothers Clarence (Linda) of Nanaimo, BC, Raymond (Luella) of Lloydminster, AB; one sister Doreen (Bob) of Windsor, ON; sisters-in-law June of Watrous, Ida of Regina, Ora of Weyburn and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Rick; parents Wes and Zulma Reeves; brothers Cliff, Gordon, Lorne and Ralph; sisters Alice and Marjorie; one brother-in-law Bill Roney and two nephews Tony Shaw and Kevin Shaw. Marlene will be cremated and there will be no funeral service. There will be a private family gathering to celebrate her life with interment in the Imperial Cemetery at a later date. McDADE - Martha Pearl (nee Kennedy) passed away on March 23, 2006 at the Holy Cross Long term Care Centre in Calgary at the age of 99 years. She was just 2 months short of her 100th birthday. Pearl was born May 22, 1906 at Wawanesa, Manitoba. In 1910, she moved with her parents to the Imperial, Sask. area. On July 16, 1925 she married Alexander McDade. They settled on a farm west of Simpson, Sask. They had four children, Jean, Billy, Bobby and Nancy. In 1953, tragedy struck when her daughter Jean passed away suddenly during the birth of her third child at the age of 27. Farm life played a central role in her first 61 years. The role of a farm wife at this time demanded a great deal of manual labour. Just washing clothes required hauling water from a well, boiling the water on the stove, scrubbing the clothes and hanging them out to dry. Then if you wanted the wrinkles out, the Sad iron would he heated on the stove. Music was a strong current in her life. Pearl and Alex would supply the music for many a country dance with Pearl on the piano and Alex on the violin. The love and appreciation for music was handed down through the generations. From 1952 until 1973, they enjoyed living in the community of Simpson. She belonged to the Homemakers club and enjoyed many handicrafts; knitting, oil painting and crocheting to name a few. Her crocheted flowers have been given to people from all over the world from Indonesia, Texas, Great Britain and across Canada. She was still enjoyed making and giving away these flowers up until the last few months. In 1973, they moved to Imperial to be closer to a hospital. Alex passed away in 1984. In 1987, she moved to Jubilee Court in Watrous for a short time. Until returning to her home in Imperial. In 1992 she moved to Bonnyville, Alberta to be closer to her daughter, Nancy and in 1999 she moved to the Bethany Care Lodge in Airdrie as Nancy and Jim retired to Sundre. Her final move was in 2003 to the Holy Cross Long Term Care, Calgary where she resided until her passing. Pearl was predeceased by her husband, Alex in 1984; son, Billy in 1987; daughter, Jean Gibbs in 1953; grandson, Wayne Gibbs in 1983; four brothers, Alex, Edgar, Donald and Alvin; two sisters, Catherine and Annie; and two granddaughters. She is survived her daughter, Nancy (Jim) Hunt of Sundre; and son, Robert (Shirley) McDade of Saskatoon, SK; one sister, Ada Taylor; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will take place at a later date in Imperial. McDOUGALL - Jessie Winnifred. The death of Mrs. Jessie Winnifred McDougall aged 94 years of Imperial SK occurred at the Long Lake Valley Integrated Facility in Imperial, SK on Thursday December 28, 2000. The Funeral Service will be held in Fotheringham's Funeral Chapel on Tuesday January 2nd at 11:30 a.m. conducted by Marilyn Keerak. Jessie is survived by a son, Bev McDougall; grandchildren: Wanda, Bob and Jason (Lori), great grandchildren; sisters, Ina Ryalls and Margaret Paulson; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, a sister Ruth Ireton and brother William McDougall. McKENZIE - Rena Dorthea McKenzie (nee Clarkson), late of Moose Jaw passed away at the age of 66 years in the Regina Pasqua Hospital on Saturday, February 10, 2001. Born in Rosthern, Saskatchewan, she grew up and lived in Imperial, Saskatchewan until 1966 when she moved to Moose Jaw with her loving husband, Ron and five children. She entered nursing in 1967 and worked at the Valley View Center until 1994. Rena loved sewing, fishing, camping, traveling and spending time with her family. Her heart and door was always open to everyone she befriended. She will be loving missed by her husband of 48 years, Ronald McKenzie and children, Melvin, Heather, Bonnie, Sharon (Todd Marshall) and Ronalea, her grandchildren, Dan (Lindsay), Jacquie (Chad), Brian, Brandi and Stephanie and great-grandson, Logan, her brother, Lynn Clarkson (Margaret Ann) and numerous nieces and nephews and her oldest and dearest friends, Harvey and Cathy Smith. She has joined her mother and father, Francis and Otto Clarkson, her sisters, Dora Douglas and Anne Baht, and brother, Danny Clarkson. McKENZIE - Ronald McKenzie of Moose Jaw, passed away quietly at his home on Saturday May 18, 2002 at the age of 77 years. Ron was born in 1925 at the family homestead near Aneroid, Sask. He worked and married his wife of 48 years in the town of Imperial. They moved their family to Moose Jaw in 1966 where Ron worked for Trimac and then for Redi-Mix as a mechanic and shop foreman. Ron was predeceased by his wife Rena (Clarkson); father, John; mother, Maggie; step-mother, Annie; and sister, Jessie. The death of Lois Myrtle McMillan aged 78 years of Imperial, SK occurred at her home Sunday, July 14, 2002. McMILLAN - Olive Mae (nee Gullacher), of 6 Britnell Cres. Saskatoon, for 38 years; and the last remaining four years, 2002-06, at Sherbrooke Nursing Home, passed away peacefully on September 21st, 2006 at the age of 92. She was born April 26, 1914 in Imperial, Saskatchewan. Olive was the beloved wife of the late Mancel Lloyd McMillan for sixty-six years. Mancel Lloyd McMillan pre-deceased his beloved wife, Olive Mae on May 9th, 2005. Together they were passionate servants of the Lord and are now enjoying their eternal reward together on their 68th Wedding Anniversary, September 28th. Olive was a renowned Music Teacher in Saskatoon and Prince Albert. Many students have been touched by her life and have much to thank her for. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew her. Mancel McMillan's Ministry still endures the test of time by the faithful people who were loved and mentored by our parents. They were passionate for the Lord to the end of their time here on earth. They loved their family dearly and especially loved their grandson Ian McMillan; he brought purpose and joy to their lives as they grew older. Neil John McQueen was the youngest of seven children, born on March 13, 1931, to Donald and Cora McQueen in Durham, Ontario and grew up on the family farm in Mount Forest, Ontario. After moving to Saskatchewan as a young man in his early twenties, Neil took a job as a hired hand on Wint Etter�s farm. It was during this time that he met Vesta Lucas, whom he married on August 26, 1954. After working at Etter�s farm, Neil got a job at Otto Clarkson�s Plumbing and Electrial Shop and later worked for Imperial Rock and Gravel, which was later bought out by BACM Construction. After working at the Union Imperial Hospital for 22 years, Neil finished his career at the Long-Lake Imperial Facility, from which he retired in 1996. During Neil�s retirement he enjoyed camping, woodworking, travel, golf, skiing, and spending time with his family. Neil will be forever remembered as a loving, kind, and gentle husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. We are blessed with memories of his easy-going nature and his mischievous twinkle in his eye. Neil was predeceased by an infant son, his parents and four brothers; Cameron, Gordon, Peter, and Hugh and two sisters Annabelle and Margaret. Neil is survived by his wife, Vesta of 58 years; children, Brenda (Lonnie), Yvonne (John), Margaret (Dean), Donald (Vickie). MOONEY - David Michael "Mike" (September 17, 1952 - May 29, 2014). Mike was a musician and a farmer and died suddenly at home on Thursday May 29, 2014 at the age of 61. He was a loving husband to Christina; father to Richard and Johnna; brother to Carman and Jacqui and son to Chris. A celebration of his life will be held in the Imperial Community Centre on Wednesday June 4th at 2 p.m. MOONEY - Margaret Hazel passed from this earthly world very suddenly and peacefully to be with the Lord on October 6, 2008 at her home in Wascana Rehabilitation Centre where she had resided for the past 3 years. Hazel was born on December 23, 1921 on the family farm near Imperial, SK. She was predeceased by her parents George and Margaret Mooney, her sister Lois, brother Bob, brothers-in-law Frank Strachan, Archie McMillan and Sam Northrup and her very good friend Margaret Temple. Hazel is survived by her sisters Mabel Strachan of Liberty, SK and Joyce Northrup of Davidson, SK and her sister-in-law Joyce Mooney of Edmonton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including very close and dear friends Maureen and Rick Pockett. Hazel attended country school at Rowling Ridge, then completed her Grade 11 and 12 in Imperial. After graduation Hazel made her way to the big city of Regina to hopefully take up a nursing career. However, nursing was not for Hazel so she changed her vocation to stenography which she completed at Balfour Tech. Upon graduation she went to work at the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool where she spent the next 42 years until her retirement. Hazel was an avid sportswoman and in her early years enjoyed playing softball on many teams around Imperial and in Regina and was an avid Saskatchewan Roughrider fan and season ticket holder for many years. Following her retirement she enjoyed her weekly curling games where she made many new friends. She even tried golf but thought it was too much of a handicap for her. With her friend Margaret, they traveled around the world enjoying each and every country they visited. Hazel was a fun loving person who enjoyed being in the company of family and friends especially her Saturday evening supper friends. Hazel was an ardent supporter of the Fraser Pipe Band and was a long time member of Norman Kennedy Presbyterian Church, having served as a member of the church session and board of managers and for many years was a member of the church choir, as she loved to sing and whistle. She was also very happy when she tended the flower garden around the church each summer. Hazel touched many lives and will be dearly missed by all that knew her, especially friends at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre. For the past 3 years Hazel was cared for by the wonderful staff at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre and since November 2007 was cared for by Barb and her very caring staff on Main 6. For this we thank you all so very much. Cremation has taken place at Hazel's request. Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park. MUNRO - Melville Cameron passed away on Friday November 7, 2003 at the age of 84 after an approximate stay of 5 weeks at the Saskatoon City Hospital. A memorial service was held for Dad on Wednesday November 12, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home. Internment took place in the cemetery of Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Dad was the 4th child born to Lorne and Mabel (nee Carpenter) Munro. They had a total of 9 children. Dad was born December 12, 1918 in Heward, Saskatchewan. A year later the Munros moved to Imperial, SK. where the remainder of dad's sisters and brother were born and raised. At the age of 15, Dad was predeceased by his father who died of heart failure. Dad's education was interrupted by this untimely death and he began to help support the family at a very early age. This was especially true during the trying and lean years of the depression that so many people had to endure. On April 1, 1942 dad began working for the B.A. Oil Company, starting in Moose Jaw, then Regina, Swift Current and ending in Saskatoon. This period of employment lasted more than 37 years with the parent name B.A. Oil until dad's early retirement from Gulf Oil on September 1, 1979. Dad was predeceased by his wife, Alice (nee Chomyshen) on September 27, 1990. At that point in time, they had been married more than 43 years. Dad first met what would eventually be our mother, while they both attended the same public school, which is the former R.D. Williams School for the Deaf, on Cumberland Avenue in Saskatoon. Later on in life they got married on February 15th, 1947. Many of their life-long friends had attended the same school. Dad was predeceased by his father in 1933, and by his mother in 1955. His sisters Iona, Alma, Rita, Edna, and his brothers Clarence and Elmer also predeceased dad. Surviving dad is his older sister Margaret Cochrane of Watrous and his younger brother Jim of Victoria. Many nieces and nephews including some in-laws also survive dad. Dad is survived by his immediate family of one daughter and two sons; namely Myrna Munro of Saskatoon; Barry and his wife Lorraine of Regina, and their family of daughter, Erin and her friend Steve McKechern; their son Eric and his wife Monica with their own family of son, Paris Rain and daughter, Bella Rose; Jim and his wife Lisa and their daughters Natalie and Anna-Beth of Saskatoon. NELSON - Grace Evelyn May (nee Thresher). It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Grace Nelson of Stalwart SK on September 20, 2011 at the age of 79 years. NELSON - Robert (April 21, 1935 - March 5, 2013) Bob, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away in the early morning of Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at the Regina General Hospital. He was born and raised in Stalwart, SK to Martha and William. Bob moved to Regina in 1954 to further his education in business, attaining his designation as a Certified Management Accountant in 1971. He was employed by SaskPower and SaskEnergy for 37 years. Following his retirement, he enjoyed working with the Canadian Western Agribition during the winter months. Bob was dedicated to the positions he held and the people he worked with and was well respected for it. Among his passions were curling, the Riders, dancing, the fellowship of Freedom 55, travelling, and spending time with his family. Bob was an enthusiastic photographer and took many pictures of trips, family and Dolores' lilies. He married Dolores Anderson in 1958 and they were blessed with a loving family; son Murray (Margie) and their children Mallory, Derek and Adam; daughter Karen (Garth) Lillejord and their children Mark, Stephen and Erik. Bob is also survived by his brother John; sister-in-law Verna Nelson; brothers-in-law Donald (Faye) Anderson and Gerald (Violet) Anderson; several nieces and nephews; and cousin Joyce (Geoffred) Broadley. Bob appreciated all the love and support shown by many family and friends during the past year. He was predeceased by his parents; his brother William Jr.; and sister-in-law Grace Nelson. He was born and raised on the family farm at Stalwart, SK. and attended Davenport School. As a young man he worked for local farmers, and worked winters at a lumber camp in Northern Saskatchewan and also for Ontario Hydro. In 1959, he married Verna Shaw of Brandon and settled on the home quarter where they raised their family and continued to farm until their retirement to Moose Jaw in 1992. Bill loved farming, socializing with friends and attending dances throughout the area. His family was very important to him and he was known as a strong and caring person to all who knew him. Bill was predeceased by his parents William Sr. and Martha. He leaves to mourn his wife of 48 years, Verna; son Howard (Cara) Nelson of Moose Jaw; daughter Shirley (Dean) Rae of Regina; grandchildren Max Nelson, Carter and Katrina Rae; brothers John (Grace) Nelson of Stalwart and Robert (Dolores) Nelson of Regina as well as several nieces and nephews. NORTH - Larry Douglas North of Moose Jaw, passed away after a lengthy illness on September 24, 2010. Larry was born February 15, 1933 in the Shiloh district, near Imperial, SK, to Martha and Walter North. Larry is predeceased by his wife Becky in 1999, his parents, sister Ruby Rolfe, brother-in-law Ralph Halkyard and nephew Leslie Rolfe. NORTHROP - Joyce Isabel (nee Mooney) November 19, 1929 � December 8, 2010. Joyce (mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt) passed suddenly December 8, 2010 in her home, living her life independently. Joyce was the fourth child born to George and Margaret Mooney. Joyce attended school at Rolling Ridge School (Imperial district) and finished her Grade 12 in Regina. Joyce grew up loving horses and we often heard the tale of her horse Paint (with the map of Italy). After her schooling, Joyce returned to Imperial to work in the local grocery store. After meeting the love of her life, Joyce married Sam Northrop on June 22, 1951 in Imperial. Their first home was the Scott farm (near Stalwart) and in 1956 they bought the Gardner farm (near Liberty). Here they raised their family, farmed (mixed farming), and raised purebred Shorthorns. Joyce was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Liberty, and was also involved with the Saskatchewan Shorthorn Association. With four children involved in 4-H, it wasn�t long before Joyce became a leader, as well. The local summer fairs would find the Northrop family showing their cattle and their horses and gymkhana was also a family affair, and the Northrop family would often be together riding in the local community gymkhana events and on to the Saskatchewan Riding Club Association provincials. Joyce enjoyed sewing, and after the children had grown, matching outfits were sewn for Sam and herself and their palomino horses to be worn in parades province wide. Sam and Joyce moved to Davidson in 1988 and Joyce delved into developing her flower beds of lilies, roses and so much more. Joyce and Sam took part in the Davidson Senior�s Centre and they travelled many miles with the Senior�s winter games. Joyce took up pattern dancing with her sister Mabel through the nineties, and even took up playing the drums with Sam on the accordion and a group of local musicians. Faith was dominant throughout Joyce and Sam�s life worshipping with the St. Agnes Anglican congregation in Craik and later with the All Saints family in Davidson. Joyce enjoyed her knitting, crocheting, liquid embroidery, and many other needle crafts. Joyce was predeceased by her parents, George and Margaret Mooney; her husband, Sam Northrop; infant daughter, son Jimmy; brother, Bob Mooney; and sisters, Lois McMillan and Hazel Mooney. PAGE - Fred Arthur Page passed away suddenly June 28th, 2006, one week before his 82nd birthday. Most recently a resident of Parkside Extendicare he had lived the past forty years in Regina. He was born in the Abernethy area to English settlers Harry and Nellie Page on July 5, 1924. He helped with the family farm until joining the Navy in 1943. After discharge he married Irene Grant and in 1951, they along with their daughter Valerie, moved to Amazon, then later Imperial where he began his long career with the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. In 1965 he was promoted to Area Superintendent and transferred to Melville, Swift Current and Regina. Fred was a life long Anglican, member of the Legion and Lions organizations, and a 4-H Grain Club Leader. He enjoyed travelling and took holidays to England and throughout Canada, spending many winters in Arizona. Fred was predeceased by his parents; his wife Irene; brother Bill; and three brothers-in-law: Carman Balfour, Ted McMorris and Allan McMorris. He is survived by his daughter Valerie Parker (Allan) of Chemainus, BC; one grandchild Kelly Parker Cates (Jim) and two great-grandchildren Zoe and Connor Parker Cates of Saskatoon. Fred leaves to mourn his passing his three sisters, Mildred Balfour of Balcarres, Peggy McMorris of Abernethy, Helen McMorris of Regina; and eight nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Harold Francis Ready and Ethel Pearl Ready; and his sister Bethel Carrie Beke (John). Ken was born at Imperial, Saskatchewan on March 23, 1930. His family ultimately moved to Saskatoon in 1945 and Ken attended City Park Collegiate where he met his wife to be, Mary Ellen Donald. After graduating in Pharmacy from the University of Saskatchewan, he operated a pharmacy dispensary for nearly 30 years. He was a lecturer in Pharmacy at the University of Saskatchewan for 40 years. He served as President of both the Saskatchewan Pharmaceutical Association and Canadian Pharmaceutical Association and was honored by both organizations for his outstanding leadership. The Kiwanis Club of Saskatoon recently recognized him for his 50 years of service. In October 2004, he was awarded the University of Saskatchewan Alumni Service Award. Ken was a talented and generous musician who played both the piano and organ, and accompanied numerous soloists over the years. He particularly enjoyed helping the Cosmopolitan Rhythm Band and took great pleasure in making music with the Band. He and Mary were active square dancers for many years and he instructed many school children in the art of square dancing. Ken was an avid golfer, and member and past-President of the Saskatoon Golf and Country Club. He was active in Second Street United Church for over 45 years, serving as Steward, Elder and Member of Council. When called upon he played the organ and piano for church services. Ken shared his humor and laughter with everyone. And for family, friends and strangers alike, it was a pleasure and a joy to have known him. REDSTONE - Albert George passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 3, 2004 at Imperial, SK. REEVES - Ralph Alexander Reeves. On Sunday, June 15, 2002, Ralph passed away at Hill Top Manor, Weyburn, where he had resided for 2-1/2 years, in close companionship with his "girls" and other residents. Ralph was born September 13, 1932 in Davidson. Ralph was raised on his parents' farm at Imperial along with nine brothers and sisters. He is predeceased by his parents Zelma and Wes Reeves; brothers Cliff, Lorne, Gordon and sister Marjorie. He is survived by his loving wife Ora of 47 years and his children: Janet (William) Birrell of Sarnia, ON (soon to be of Craik); Robert (Danette) of Bengough; Donna of Regina; grandchildren Robert, Vanessa, Stephanie, Logan and Jordan; his sisters: Alice Roney of Imperial; Marlene Martynook of Imperial; Doreen Kidney of Oakville, ON; brothers Clarence of Nanaimo, BC; Raymond of Lloydminster, AB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. Ralph attended Rouse School and after completing Grade 10, worked for farmers in the area. In the spring of 1951, he traveled by train to Horizon to work for a farmer there, Maxwell Scott. A few weeks later he met Maxwell's sister Ora. They were married October 23, 1954. After living in Regina for a few months they moved to Limerick to work on a farm. Their first daughter Janet was born in Assiniboia in October 1955. In the early spring of 1956 they moved to Horizon to live on the Scott farm, and again Ralph worked with Maxwell. In 1963, Ora's father passed away and they rented his land. Eventually they bought Maxwell's farm, and rented other land as well. Farming was the only thing Ralph ever wanted to do. He loved the land and his stock, and worked hard for a lifestyle he thoroughly enjoyed. Our community was a close-knit one, so there were good times in completing work projects and on our many family get-togethers. By 1962, we had outgrown our small house, so we built a new bungalow with the help of neighbors. Robert was born in January, 1963, and Donna in January 1971. When Robert joined the Boy Scout troop Ralph became interested in their activities, so agreed to be a leader and became part of the Group Committee for Bengough. He also sat on the Sitting Bull District Committee and then spent two years as District Commissioner for Sitting Bull. He formed the first Ventures Group in 1978, and helped set up a Scout camp at Willows, near Assiniboia. Camping was his favorite activity to do with the boys that he attended many organized camps in both Saskatchewan and Alberta. In 1980, he and his older Venture boys helped plan for the World Jamboree that was to be held at Kananaskis in 1981. Their part was to select hiking trails in the area. This camp attracted nearly 14,000 Boy Scouts. When he retired in 1986, he was presented with the Medal of Merit for providing a special service to the Scouting movement. He then became interested in Belgian horses, buying mares and raising colts, spending winter hours breaking them for driving, always using them for chores and cattle feeding. Then started to show them at local agricultural fairs: Bengough, Ogema, Weyburn, and Moose Jaw. He organized Old Time Field Days at the farm, inviting friends and neighbors to bring horses for a fun day of using various horse drawn equipment and to try their hand at driving. The day ended with a pot luck meal and after a couple of years added an old time dance in the shop with many local musicians. In 1992, we hosted the Saskatchewan Draft Horse Association picnic. In 1993, he developed a bad case of shingles, tried to keep up with the usual farming and horse activities, but found it more and more difficult as time went on. By 1997, he knew the work was too much for him, so we held a farm auction sale in April 1998. That summer he was diagnosed with Pick's disease and we moved to the Senior Villa in Bengough in September. In February of 1999 he entered the Bengough Health Care Center. In the meantime, we purchased a condo in Weyburn and moved there in June. Ralph was able to spend four months with Ora. In October he entered Souris Valley, and then moved to Hill Top Manor to reside until his passing. Through the years he was part of the Bengough School Board, Knox United Church Board and Agricultural Society. When natural gas lines were being extended to new areas he canvassed our surrounding communities and signed on enough people to have this service. He participated in community activities and enjoyed playing cards and dancing. He was proud of his family and enjoyed the grandchildren, often cajoling them with bad habits to frustrate their mothers. He will be sadly missed, but finally at peace and able to rest without pain. A memorial service and interment will be held at a later date. REID - Clare Frederick. The death of Clare Frederick Reid aged 87 years of Imperial SK occurred at Long Lake Valley Integrated Facility in Imperial on Sunday, November 10, 2002. RIMMINGTON - Mary (nee Goethals) February 28, 1925 - August 24, 2009. Mary Rimmington passed away peacefully on Monday, August 24, 2009. Mary was born to Jules and Irma Goethals on the farm in the Imperial District. As a young woman she travelled to Ontario where she met her husband Jack. Eventually they returned to Imperial where she resided for the remainder of her days. She was predeceased by one daughter and one great granddaughter. RODMAN - Russel Frank (March 16, 1949 - April 10, 2010). Passed away at the General Hospital on April 10, 2010, at the untimely age of 61 years, due to complications after a courageous battle with diabetes and kidney disease. He was born in Imperial, Sk., on March 16, 1949. Russel is survived by his loyal wife of 42 years, Veronica Carol Rodman; his loving sons: Russell (Christina) Rodman, Bernal (Katherine) Rodman and his devoted daughter Crystal Rodman; his grandchildren: Katelyn, Justin, Sara and Dawsyn; his mother and step-father, Vera and Don Arnold of Imperial, his brothers: Cliff Rodman of Imperial, Albert (Elaine) Rodman of Moose Jaw, Bill (Lorna) Rodman of Imperial and Robert (Isabelle) Arnold of Kamloops, B.C., as well as several nieces and nephews. Russel served as a field engineer with the military from July 1966 to September, 1979, when he was Honorably discharged at the rank of Master Corporal. While in the military, Russel and his family were stationed for 3 years at Lahr, Germany. Upon returning to civilian life he was employed by the R.M. of Big Arm #251 for seven years as an equipment operator. His last position was with Kramer Tractor as a heavy duty mechanic from 1989 until his declining health made it necessary to take permanent disability in 2003. Russel was a strong and courageous man who would not let his illness keep him from enjoying his life. With the loving care and attention from his family, he was able to have Home Hemodialysis. His daughter Crystal is devoted to attending to the special needs of both Russel and Carol. The Rodman family wishes to convey their profound thanks and heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Bhanu Prasad and his team at the General Hospital for their compassionate care of Russel during his final hospital stay. A very special thank you is extended to the Home Hemodialysis Unit of the Kidney Health Centre for the expertise and professional care given to our Dad. RONEY - Emily Georgina (nee Robertson), age 85, of Swift Current, Sk. passed away April 22, 2012 at the Regina General Hospital. At Georgina's request there was no formal service. Georgina was born in Limerick, Sk. on February 14, 1927. She was married to Earle Roney in Imperial, Sk in 1946. They couple lived there until 1965, when they moved to Swift Current. Georgina work at the local Sears Store for many years making long lasting friendships. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Swift Current. Georgina was also known as Gina, G.G. and Grammy G. Truly a one of a kind lovely woman, she loved generously and fearlessly, doing everything with class and perfection. She was a proud gardener and fought many battles with pesky squirrels, a beautiful voice, that we had hoped to hear for years to come. Great sense of humour with a wonderful laugh. She was also a true Canadian sports fan, dedicated to curling, figure skating, hockey and football, active in curling and bowling as well. Most of her favorite times were spent with her "bff" and soul sister, Eva. Participating in the Imperial Centennial Reunion, Georgina was happy to rekindle past friendship and family relationships. We are sad and not prepared to say goodbye, yet at peace to know she will be reunited with loved ones gone before. Georgina is survived by her son Milt (Joanne); granddaughter, Lindsey (Paul) and their sons Owen and Heath; Hannah (Guy) and their daughter Ruby; best friend Eva and many family and friends in Imperial and Swift Current. She was predeceased by her husband Earle; son Wayne and brother Murray. RONEY - Joseph Dale (March 1, 1929 - November 26, 2011). The death of Dale Roney, aged 82 years, of Imperial, Sask. occurred peacefully on Saturday, November 26th, 2011 at his residence. Dale was born on March 1st, 1929 on the family farm west of Imperial to Joseph and Phoebe Roney. He went to Rolling Ridge School until grade 8 and started farming with his dad Joe in 1952. Dale married Norma Archer on April 10, 1954. They bought the family farm in 1966 from his dad and farmed for 46 years until retirement in1998. Dale enjoyed farming, spending time with his grand kids, playing pool with his coffee buddies, fishing, and going to auction sales. He loved to visit and play cribbage and cards with all of his family and friends. Dale passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at his residence. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Phoebe Roney; brothers Lawrence and Ross and sister Louise Cordick. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Norma; daughters Barbara (Brian) Nociar, Brenda Roney (Roger Wagner), and Wanda Roney; grandchildren Kyle, Pam (Zach Nielsen) and Trevor Nociar; and sister June Webster and sister-in-law Eva Roney, and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Tea will take place in the Imperial Community Centre, Imperial on Friday, December 2nd at 2:00 p.m. RONEY - Ray Vernon of Saskatoon (formerly of Colonsay) passed away peacefully at Lutheran Sunset Care Home on Thursday, December 9, 2004. Ray was born on September 28, 1926 in Imperial and was an employee at the Colonsay Potash Mine. Ray was predeceased by his wife Winnifred Eunice Roney and is survived by his son Murray (Linda) Roney of Strathmore, AB. as well as his grandchildren, Karen, Sean, Samantha and Coyle. He is also survived by his sisters, Audrey Brady of Vernon, BC and Joan Doucette of Prince George, B.C. as well as his brothers, Wesley Roney of Thunder Bay, ON. and Clifton Roney of Nova Scotia. There will be a graveside service at a later date. ROSTEN - Ruby Kathleen Anderson was born on March 15, 1925 to William and Christina Anderson at Craik, SK. She was the youngest of three children with two older brothers Harvey (Bernie) and Norman. Ruby grew up in Craik and completed grade 1-12 there before continuing her education at Business School in Regina. Ruby married Lloyd Rosten on January 15, 1947. In 1951 they moved into Imperial and started their family. Together they farmed until Lloyd�s passing in 1989. She continued to be of help on the farm after Bill took over the farm until her health deteriorated and she moved into Long Lake Valley Integrated Facility. Ruby enjoyed reading, cooking and handwork and crafts but most important to her was family, especially her grandchildren, who she always made time for. Ruby is survived by one daughter, Shirley (David) Kelly of Imperial, SK and their family Ryan (Rhonda) Jocelyn, Jensen and Trey, Mathieu (Leslie) Jennings, Regan (Leslie) Brookyn; two sons Bill Rosten of Imperial, SK; and Jerry (Karen) Rosten of Craik, SK and their family Paul (Sandra) Ethan and Olivia, Jennifer (Jerry) Marson and Adeline. Ruby was predeceased by her husband Lloyd Rosten, her parents William and Christina Anderson and her brothers Harvey (Bernie) and Norman Anderson. Ruby passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Long Lake Valley Integrated Facility after suffering a stroke on January 25th. ROYAN - Herbert. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, and great-grandfather Herbert Royan of Regina. Herb passed away peacefully on November 16, 2004 at the age of 85 years. He was born in Alves, Scotland June 24, 1919 and immigrated to Imperial, SK with his family at the age of 9. He served with the 7th Anti-Tank Regiment during World War II and returned to Regina where he spent the majority of his career at the R.C.M.P. Depot Division. ROYAN - Jessie Steele (nee Rae) October 29, 1917 - April 22, 2011 aged 93 years. SEAMAN - Evelyn Virginia (nee Shirkey) 1927 - 2003. After a struggle with Parkinson's Disease and a courageous battle with cancer, Ev passed away peacefully on August 30, 2003. SHEWCHUK - Ruth Catherine (nee Dulmage) passed away peacefully in Saskatoon, SK on February 19, 2004, from cancer. She was born in Yorkton, SK on February 9, 1923. Ruth attended school in Melfort and Yorkton and graduated from the Regina General Hospital as a Registered Nurse. Her nursing career saw her serve as a Red Cross Outpost Hospital Nurse in Poddockwood, SK, Public Health Nurse, a VON Nurse, a nurse for TB patients at the SAN in Saskatoon, SK, and a maternity nurse in many hospitals. Ruth practiced her Christian faith in the Baptist and United Churches. She was a strong supporter of the Red Cross, Girl Guides, Eastern Star, CGIT, and her much beloved McClure seniors and Sunday School classes. Ruth sang in the following choirs: Wotsonair's (P.A.), Eastern Star, Church, and Orpheus 60. Ruth loved travel, gardening, bird watching, theatre, animals and delighted in her adopted grandchildren and entertaining friends. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Nick; father, George and her mother, Harriet; and brother, James. She is survived by her two daughters, Jan and Joan; numerous family members and adopted grandchildren. Interment will take place in Imperial, Saskatchewan at a later date. SHIRKEY - Earl James (August 9, 1916 - June 4, 2012). Earl James Shirkey passed away on June 4, 2012 at the age of 95 years. He was predeceased by his first wife Agnes, son Ray Shirkey, sisters Bernice Parks, Evelyn Seaman and Mildred Rombough and brother Ray Shirkey. Left to cherish his memory are his loving partner, Lorrain Baade; his children Carole (Norman) Wardlaw, Ronald (Elizabeth) Shirkey, Daryl (Shelagh) Shirkey, Lorrain�s children Evelyn (Joe), Ruth (Rick), Laura Lee, Cyril (Carol) and Marian (Gord) and Earl�s siblings Joyce Hodgins, Howard Shirkey and Donna Pritchard, and Lorrain�s brother Ken (Phyl) Raymond, along with numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family and friends. SHIRKEY - Dr. Raymond James Shirkey. At home with his wife, Marie, and two sons, Ray peacefully closed his eyes for the last time on August 1, 2006, bringing to an end a beautiful and rich life that he fully enjoyed. Born on August 1, 1943, Ray grew up on the family farm at Imperial, Saskatchewan. Ray attended Luther College, Regina for two years of high school and one year of university. After one additional year at the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, he enrolled in the College of Dentistry at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, graduating in 1967 under the Royal Officer's Training Program. Upon graduation, Ray was posted with the Canadian Military in Germany for a period of seven years. In 1974, upon his return to Canada, he entered the private practice of dentistry in Toronto, which he continued until his retirement in 2004. In 1976, Ray married Dr. Marie Horani of Toronto. Ray and Marie have two sons from their marriage, Ronald and Robert. Ray was predeceased by his mother, Agnes Shirkey and is survived by his wife, Marie, his two sons, both of whom reside in Toronto, his father, Earl Shirkey of Imperial, sister Carole (Norman) of Calgary, brother Ronald (Elizabeth) of Regina, brother Daryl (Shelagh) of Regina and eight nieces and nephews. Ray had a great love for the Province of Saskatchewan and more particularly, the district of Imperial to which he returned each and every year with his two boys. She nursed at, & became Matron of, the Imperial Hospital, & then the Watrous Hospital. It was at the latter that she met the love of her life, Roy Simle. They were married in Imperial, SK on July 30, 1947, and celebrated their 62nd Wedding Anniversary in 2009. They lived in Watrous until moving to Moose Jaw in 1952. Here they raised their three children, and lived on Grace St. for 52 yrs. Dad was the manager of the Peoples Jewelers downtown store, but Mom was his most precious jewel. Mom nursed mainly on the 2nd floor surgery ward at the Providence Hospital. Nursing was her passion and her joy! Mom was also a member of M.J. Kinettes and K-ette's Clubs, and a member of the M.J. Shriners' Wives. In addition, she frequently volunteered canvassing for various charities, and worked at Blood Donor Clinics. In 2004, they moved into the M.J. Mulberry Estates, and resided there until Dad's passing from a sudden heart attack on September 23, 2009. Mom later moved into the Craik & District Health Centre, and continued to inspire and amaze us all with her humour, strength, and fighting spirit! To Mom, her family was everything, and we were blessed all our lives to know we were loved by an angel! To us she was our inspiration and the best Nurse, Wife, Mom, Nana and Grandma on the face of the earth! ... She lives on in the sparkle in our eyes, laughing, quiet, gentle, loving, and wise. Our thanks to all the Staff at the Craik & District Health Centre for not only administering care ... but for caring! Thank-you for loving our Mom, for being our home away from home for almost 2 yrs, and for being the kind of people who make such a big difference! Mom will be reunited with Dad, with both... Forever in our Hearts. STEPHENS - Brian Charles (January 10, 1927 - February 11, 2013). Brian was born January 10th, 1927 to Reginald and Blanche Stephens, on the family farm in Norbury, Sask. He was the fourth of five children, Roy, Ed, Mary, Brian and Miles. He met the love of his life, Doris, and after two years of courtship they were married (1954) followed by the birth of their three sons, Don, Dan and Rob. Brian farmed, until entering the business world as a grain buyer beginning (1965) in Bapaume, Sask. Brian and Doris then transferred to Imperial in 1969 with 3 ENERGETIC boys and a Big White Dog. He and Doris raised their children in Imperial until his death where Doris still resides. He pursued his profession with passion and gusto until retirement in 1991. Throughout Brian's life he was known as the local farmers "veterinarian service", and nurtured back to health, many a horse and livestock, this became his natural calling. After retirement Brian became involved in the raising of Registered American Quarter Horses, the herd grew to as many as 30. He became the supervisor of the Davidson Beef producers from 1992 - 2009. His passion was "Dori", his family, horses, livestock sales and rodeos. Brian was known for his quiet strength, sharp wit, he always loved a good laugh and he was wise and a man of great integrity. Dori has always said "Brian was always a farmer and a country boy". His final hours were spent surrounded by his family, his unwavering wit ever present, for story telling and laughs, until he slipped away Monday, February 11th at Regina General Hospital. SWEET - Richard Basil (September 26, 1921 - March 29, 2004). Richard Sweet, of Belleville, entered into rest at the Belleville General Hospital, Belleville, ON on Monday, March 29th, 2004 in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of Mary Jane "Jean" Sweet, cherished father of Myrna Jean Sweet (Humphries) of Belleville and Richard Lawrence Sweet of Saskatoon. Richard was born in Saskatoon City Hospital. Most of his youth was spent in Kelfield and Imperial, Saskatchewan. From 1940-1945 he was enlisted in the RCAF. After the war, he attended the University of Saskatchewan and received his Mechanical Engineering Degree in 1949. The same year he married his wife of 55 years and moved to Sault Ste Marie, ON. In 1956, they moved to Windsor Mills, Quebec. Richard was an active member of the militia, RCEME branch where he rose to the rank of Major. From Quebec, the family moved to British Columbia and resided in Woodfibre, Prince George, and North Vancouver. In 1966 Richard was the project engineer in charge of the construction of the Prince Albert Pulp Mill. After completion, he remained as the Engineering Manager. Next stops were with Husky Oil in Lloydminster, AB then Kimberly Clarke in Terrace Bay, Ontario. Richard retired in 1983 to the Trenton/Belleville area where he reminded until his death. It is difficult to adequately represent someone's life on paper especially, someone who has been such an integral part of one's life. A true measure of a life is not the number of years one spends but the contributions a person has made in the time they have been given. Richard will be fondly remembered by his family, friends, and colleagues. We love you, and will miss you, Dick...you were the best! THRESHER - George Bert Thresher (July 23, 1933 � September 21, 2015). Suddenly on Monday, September 21, 2015, George Thresher, Indian Head, SK died at the age of 82 years. A family graveside service will be held in Regina Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Saturday, September 26, 2015 with Pastor Cory Steinson officiating. ULMER - Edna Margaret. The passing of Edna Ulmer, 90 years, 11 months occurred on March 16, 2006 with her family by her side. Edna met the love of her life, Art, in Imperial, where they resided until they moved to Lumsden in 1964. Edna was predeceased by her youngest son David Edward Ulmer in 1988. She leaves to celebrate her life, her loving husband of 67 years, Art Ulmer; daughter Sheila (Geoff) Wooller of Saskatoon; sons Ken (Dianne) Ulmer of Lumsden; Jim (Marilyn) Ulmer of Fort Lauderdale; 16 grandchildren and great grandchildren. Edna was active in the Saskatchewan Writer's Guild and her creative endeavours included pottery and spinning. The family is forever indebted to her caregivers at the Lumsden & District Heritage Home for their comfort and dedication during her final months. It is the family's wish to hold a memorial service this summer in Lumsden. ULMER - Fred. On November 9, 2005, Fred Ulmer, aged 93 years, died peacefully at Watrous Hospital. Fred was born on September 12, 1912, to Wilhelm and Katharina Ulmer of Guernsey, SK. Fred later moved to the Imperial area and purchased a farm from the Blankenship family. Fred enjoyed many, many years working as a farmer. When Fred was not at the farm he enjoyed spending time with his wife, Hazel, and his best friend, Buffy. Over the years Fred was actively involved in his community. He served on Town Council, was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was a Board Member and Treasurer for the Imperial United Church. Fred's other interests included carpentry, whittling, clock making, doing puzzles, reading, gardening and going for drives in the country on sunny days. Left to cherish his memory are Hazel (nee Howie), his wife of 54 years; step-daughter Pat (John) Bertrand; son Howie (Bonnie); daughter Joan (Terry) O'Connor; son Dean (Margaret); son Jay; son Rod (Barb); five grandchildren Chris (Shelly), Jason (Donna), Vanessa, Andrea and Dustin; brothers and sister Art (Edna), Harry (Louise) and Agnes (Bob) McIntosh; sisters-in-law Agnes and Annie; and numerous nieces and nephews. Fred was predeceased by his parents; sisters Lilly, Jean (George) and Marie; and brothers Leo, Oscar (Violet), Bob (Betty) and Ed (Erma). At Fred's request there will be no funeral service. ULMER - Mary Hazel (nee Howie). With love, wonderful memories, and sadness, family members say good-bye to Mary Hazel Ulmer. Hazel died on March 10, 2011, at the age of 89. She was born near Simpson, SK, and resided in Imperial, SK, for many years until moving to Creston, BC, in 2006. Hazel will be missed by her daughter Patricia Bertrand, son Howie (Bonnie), daughter Joan (Terry) O'Connor, son Dean (Margaret), son Jay, and son Rod (Barb); her grandchildren Chris (Shelly), Jason (Heather), Vanessa (Darren) Bishop, Andrea Ulmer and fiance Don Casey, and Dustin and fiance Amanda Sandau; great-grandson Cole Casey; sisters-in-law Agnes (Bob) McIntosh, Agnes Ulmer, and Gerda; brother-in-law Harry (Louise); as well as cousin and close friend Meta Rizer; and many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Hazel will be remembered for her friendly, caring, and generous nature. Over the years, Hazel enjoyed attending her children's and grandchildren's events and community functions; baking; sewing; making quilts and afghans; listening to music; watching curling, football, and the Olympics; reading; going for drives in the country; and visiting and laughing with family and friends. Hazel was also a member of the Eastern Star, the Imperial United Church Women's Auxiliary, and a Secret Grandmother. Hazel was predeceased by her parents, Dalton and Janet (nee McArton); husband of 54 years, Fred; sisters-in-law Lilly, Jean, Marie, Violet, Erma, Edna, Betty, and Annie; brothers-in-law George, Leo, Oscar, Bob, Ed, and Art; son-in-law John; cousin Bruce Howie; dear friend Helen Hill; and beloved dog Buffy. Family would like to thank Dr. Griffioen and the staff at Swan Valley Lodge for the wonderful care provided to Hazel. At Hazel's request, there will be no funeral. A private gathering will be held at the family farm at a later date. VANCE - Lillian Judith Vance (nee Holt) 80, of Imperial passed away December 18, 2016 in Moose Jaw, Sask. A celebration of life was held at the Imperial Community Complex on December 27, 2016 at 2 p.m. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Judy was born in Saskatoon to Alice and Harry Holt on October 18, 1936. She was the youngest of two girls. Judy went to school at Nutana Collegiate in Saskatoon and graduated in 1954. During her high school years, Judy played basketball. She went on to play for Saskatoon�s Adilman Aces. They won the Canadian Championship and Judy was the only Ace�s player to be named to the All-Star Team. She was part of the team that played at the 1959 Pan American Games in Chicago. The team was inducted into the Saskatoon Hall of Fame in 1987. Judy also worked for the Red Cross from 1955 until 1963 and travelled all over the province with them. She met Stanley Vance in 1959 and they were married on July 2, 1960. They moved down to the family farm in Imperial in 1964 and later bought their own farm in 1968, where they lived and raised their children. Judy was very involved in all the farming activities as well as many different organizations within the community. She and Stanley had many great friends. Once the children were grown, Judy and Stanley spent their winters at Trails End Trailer Park in Weslaco, Texas, where they made many great and lasting friendships. Judy enjoyed gardening, her flowers, hunting, ice fishing, curling, golfing, shuffling, puzzles, painting, crosswords, old western movies, CSI, game shows, reading, playing poker, cribbage, farming, and most of all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Judy is predeceased by both her parents Alice and Harry, and her husband Stanley. Judy is survived by her sister Bea (Larry) Rose; her children, Becky (Norman) Lucas, Jody Vance, Penny (Dean) McCallum, Sheldon (Lisa) Vance; her grandchildren, Joslin (Denny) Freeman, Jessica Lucas, Stephanie McCallum, Kelsey (Ryan) Unruh, Jenessa Vance, Hailey McCallum, Cooper Vance, Sydney Vance; great-grandchildren, Kayden, Rylan, Paityn and Kylee. VANCE - Stanley Vance passed away June 17, 2013 with his family by his side after a short battle with cancer. Stan was born on December 24, 1939 to Harold and Ruby (Richards) Vance at Simpson, Sk. He was the second child of six children. He attended school in Imperial and then joined the Navy for a short term. After the Navy he moved to Saskatoon and worked as a carpenter. He met and married Judith Holt on July 2, 1960. After the birth of their first child Stan became a journeyman carpenter. They had four children and later moved to the Vance farm by Long Lake. Later moving to their current farm west of Stalwart. Stan worked very hard at farming and enjoyed his friends and neighbours. Later on Stan and Judy enjoyed being snowbirds and travelling to Weslaco Texas where they met many new friends. They became great shuffleboard players, winning many trophies. Left to cherish his memory and life are his loving wife Judy of 53 years and their four children, Becky ( Norman), Imperial, SK; Jody, Saskatoon, Sk; Penny (Dean), Biggar, Sk; Sheldon (Lisa), Imperial, SK. ; 8 grandchildren Joslin, Jessica, Stephanie, Kelsey, Jennessa, Hailey, Cooper and Sydney; as well as his great grandchildren Kayden, Rylan, Paityn and Kylie; his sister Dorothy ( Colin), brother Norman (Glenna), sister Judy (Lyle), sister Beth (Jim). On Thursday, February 27, 2003 at the age of 58 years, passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with cancer, with his family by his side. Predeceased by his parents Jerome & Mary. At Gerda�s request there will be no Funeral Service. WATT - Douglas, age 78, died peacefully at St. Paul's Hospital on Saturday, January 24, 2004. Douglas was born on August 20, 1925 in Imperial, Saskatchewan to his loving parents, Alex and Mary Watt. Douglas is lovingly remembered by his wife, Pearl; son, James Watt; two grandchildren, Tammy and Steven Watt (Heather Muench). He was predeceased by his first wife, Marge and granddaughter, Jacqueline. Douglas was a very special man who loved his family, and his years as an engineer for the CNR. The death of Mrs. Sarah Almira Pearl Waugh aged 95 years, long time resident of Imperial SK occurred at Manitou Lodge in Watrous on Wednesday December 6, 2006. Pearl was predeceased by her parents, husband Howard, and granddaughter Roberta. She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Miller, of Vancouver, BC; her son, John (Marilyn) Waugh of Zehner, SK ; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister in law Mary Pritchard, several nieces and nephews. WHITE - Jean McLean (nee Bunnell) of Qu'Appelle House, Regina, Saskatchewan, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2001. Born June 2, 1907 in Moose Jaw, she grew up in Moose Jaw, attending Normal School. She taught in a number of small Saskatchewan communities before arriving in Imperial in January of 1935. She married Bert White in 1940. Jean then gave up teaching to help Bert manage the Imperial Pharmacy. She was a member of the Eastern Star and a Charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion. Predeceased by her husband, William (Bert) in 1993, her parents, John H. And Agnus Bunnell, five sisters and one brother. Jean is survived by her only child, Terry (Phyllis), granddaughter, Corie, grandson, Chad as well as numerous nieces and nephews. WHITE - Norman William passed away early in the morning of November 29, 2006, surrounded by his family. Norm was born on April 26, 1942, in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, the only child of parents Bill and Nell White. The family lived for a time in Fort Qu'Appelle, and then moved to Stalwart where his father ran a general store. In 1954, they moved to a farm in the Melfort area, where Norm attended Melfort View school and then Melfort Collegiate Institute high school, graduating in 1959. Norman took his B.SA at the University of Saskatchewan, graduating in 1963, after which he worked as a traveler for Massey-Fergusson until 1964. He then went to work for his Uncle Herb building and installing docks and marine railways on the lakes around Fort Qu'Appelle. Norm decided to go back to school for his B.Ed, which he received in 1968. After graduating, he moved back to Melfort, where he taught high school from 1968 until he retired in June of 1998. While at University for his first degree, Norman met Beatrice Neufeld, and they were married in 1964. Their first child, Matthew, was born in 1970, followed by Megan in 1973. Norman was predeceased by his parents Bill and Nell. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Bea; his son Matt; his daughter Megan (Brad) Hunt and their children Madison and Alex. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 4 at 2:00 p.m. at Melfort United Church. WHITTINGTON - Isabelle (nee Aitken). Our mother Isabelle Whittington died peacefully in her sleep on the 14th of April, 2013. Mother was born on the 30th of May, 1918 in Regina to Jane and Alex Aitken. Mom grew up in Imperial. In 1941, she completed her nurses training at the Ottawa Civic Hospital. On her return to Saskatchewan she nursed in various places until marrying Jack on the 3rd of July, 1944. Their first home was in Moose Jaw and they moved to Saskatoon in 1949. They enjoyed family life on Colony Street and welcomed many friends and family to their home. Isabelle was an active member of St. James Church where she sang in the choir for many years, belonged to the Sue Kelsey ACW group and supported many activities. In 1958, mom went to a Girl Guide camp as the nurse. This was the beginning of a long association with the Guiding movement. Mother volunteered in many other organizations and always loved helping and meeting new people. Isabelle was predeceased by our father Jack in 1980, by her sister Jessie Scott and brothers George and Bill. She is survived by daughter Lyn and husband Neville Pither and son Michael and his wife Lynn; one sister-in-law, Agnes Aitken, several generations of nieces and nephews and very special friends who have shared and supported so generously. WILCOX - Myrna Lee (Aug 1950 - Jan 2011). Myrna was born in Imperial, SK, to parents Elmer and Lucille Wilcox in August 1950. She attended school in Stalwart, Imperial, and Luther College in Regina and later she succeeded in a nursing course and a secretarial course. Her biggest joy throughout her lifetime was her dedication to the Lord and her church. She liked to volunteer at Soul's Harbour Mission and the Regina Food Bank. Just before taking ill she was concerned about the need for turkeys and hams for the Christmas dinner at Soul's Harbour. Myrna loved to read, play the piano and travel. In the past she has travelled in tours to British Columbia, the Black Hills, S. Dakota, California (Crystal Cathedral), Arizona, Washington, D.C., the Maritimes, Alaska, England, Scotland and Ireland. Myrna was predeceased by her parents, Lucille and Elmer; and a baby sister, Betty Lynn. She is survived by her two brothers Verne (Doris) of Imperial and Mark (Ute) of Tonasket, Washington; and nieces and nephews Robin, Zane (Kelly), Dominic and Johannah Wilcox, Carman (Dawn), Tyler Wilcox, Karla (Kevin) Rae, and Lisa (Sheldon) Vance and their children. A Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 3:30 p.m. A private family interment will take place at a later date in Imperial, SK. WOLFE - Brian Walter (November 12, 1929 - October 3, 2014). Son, brother, uncle, great-uncle and friend, Brian passed away recently at the age of 84 on a farm homestead near Imperial. Brian Walter Wolfe was born on November 12, 1929 on the family homestead. He was the second child of four of Walter Harrison Wolfe and Mary Ellen Wolfe (nee Hunt). He received his education at the Imperial School and in 1953 he travelled to Edmonton to complete a Diesel Engineering Course. Brian was very mechanical and the mechanics of how things worked fascinated him his whole life. His inventiveness and creativity allowed him to not only repair a wide variety of machines, it also enabled him to craft and build equipment of his own design. A farmer to the end, Brian spent most of his life on the family farm that his father homesteaded in 1906, living life on his own terms. Brian had a deep fondness, interest and respect for the natural world. In the early 1970�s he became interested in organic farming, a practice that he was to continue for nearly 30 years. He was interested in horticulture and tended to the fruit trees that he had planted, bringing gifts of fresh plums, crab apples, saskatoons and raspberries to his nieces when they visited. They did not have access to such things in Winnipeg. Brian loved to find the weird and wonderful in nature and would bring unusual tree and plant specimens to his nieces. With a gleam in his eye he would dare them to guess what the strange-looking samples were. One particularly memorable visit for his nieces was when he brought a cardboard box into his parents� house that contained a live baby bunny. His nieces never knew just what was going to be in those cardboard boxes that were always carefully packed into the back of his International truck. Brian had a deep fondness for his nieces, great-nieces and great-nephews. He never failed to remember their birthdays and always thought of them at Christmas. They shall always remember his generosity. Brian had an endless curiosity and interest in aviation and space. He loved to read and later watch shows that explained everything from the earliest unmanned space rockets to the recent exploration of the surface of Mars. He introduced his young nieces to the moon with his slides. Brian could also be a bit of a daredevil � in the winter of 1957 he travelled to Regina to obtain his pilot�s licence (without his mother�s knowledge or consent). After obtaining his pilot�s licence, he treated his twenty year old brother and first passenger, to a ride from Regina to Imperial. His baby brother wanted to take pictures, so Brian did everything to keep the plane as steady as possible so his brother could get good photos. He had cut the throttle and their Aunt and Uncle, who witnessed them, panicked because they feared they were going to crash, but this was a routine maneuver and Brian had no fear of crashing. Brian was one of the most independent, uncompromising, private and principled men wrapped around a heart of gold. He will be dearly missed and remembered in our hearts. Brian is predeceased by his parents, Walter and Mary, and his elder sister Sarah. Brian will be greatly missed by sister Doris of Watrous, his brother Alan and sister-in-law Sheila of Winnipeg, his niece Corinne Wolfe-Betz of Toronto (Vaughn Betz), great-nieces, Victoria, Katherine and Emily, his niece Laura of Winnipeg, great-niece Madeline Paulic and great-nephews Owen Paulic and Ben Paulic. In keeping with his wishes, a private gravesite memorial service will be held at a later date. WOLFE - Doris Pauline. Daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt, and friend, Doris Wolfe passed away at the Manitou Lodge, Watrous, on Thursday, February 5. Doris Pauline Wolfe was born on September 6, 1932 on the family homestead farm near Imperial. She was the third child of Walter Harrison Wolfe and Mary Ellen Wolfe (nee Hunt). She received her education at Imperial Schools. Doris was a very bright student and excelled at school. From grades 6 to 10 she was promoted to the next grade without having to write an exam, only having to write them when they became mandatory in grades 11 and 12. This made quite an impression on her baby brother and to this day he is still in awe of this achievement. A gentle soul, Doris took care of her elderly parents, living with them in Watrous and attending to them before they passed. Even though she spent the balance of her life in town, her upbringing on the farm was apparent in her interest and connection with the land and the natural world. Doris had a life-long interest in art and liked to sketch wildlife. In particular, her nieces remember her sketch of a very realistic owl that hung in the picture window of her home. She was concerned about smaller birds flying into the window and being harmed and this owl certainly did the trick. An avid reader, Doris had a great curiosity about the world that allowed her to discuss many topics when her brother and his family came to visit. She loved gardening and had an encyclopedic knowledge about plant names and their characteristics. She raised and cared for all types of indoor and outdoor plants. She had a keen sense of smell and could almost identify a plant just by its scent. An image that has stayed with her nieces is of her leaning over flowers and taking in their fragrance, for a moment transported. She would break off a part of the plant and rub it between her fingers and determine its health and whether it had seeds that could be used. She would patiently answer questions about what the different plants were and would explain, never brushing off a question. Doris grew wonderful red and orange raspberries and blackberries in her back yard and must have had at least 20 bushes. Every summer she would give her nieces pails so they could enjoy them (half going into their stomachs, the other half actually making it to the table for that night�s dessert). Doris liked to keep her mind engaged. She loved puzzles and games. Her nieces always looked forward to their yearly summer visits to find out what was the newest challenge. Doris would offer gentle advice while they struggled. She was a skilled checkers player and more than once let her young nieces win. Doris introduced the game of crokinole to her nieces which, in turn, has been introduced to their children. Doris� faith was an important part of her life and sustained her through recovery from a stroke and later, blindness. She was part of the Salvation Army in Watrous until it closed and then joined the Baptist church. Doris enjoyed attending services at the Watrous Baptist Church, teaching Sunday School and going to bible study. While gentle in nature, Doris also had a fierce determination. After her stroke, she diligently did the exercises set out by her physical therapist to regain some of her lost mobility. Doris was predeceased by parents Walter and Mary, elder sister Sarah and elder brother Brian. She will be fondly remembered by younger brother Alan and sister-in-law Sheila Wolfe of Winnipeg, niece Corinne Wolfe-Betz of Toronto (Vaughn Betz), great nieces Victoria, Katherine and Emily, niece Laura of Winnipeg, great niece Madeline Paulic and great nephews Owen Paulic and Benjamin Paulic. Doris was a quiet and caring person and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. The family would like to thank Dr. Flagel and Dr. Tingey and the caring and compassionate staff at Manitou Lodge where she spent the last years of her life. WOLFF - Mary Ann (nee Dornian). With gratitude for the many years of love and happy memories, it is with sadness that Mary's family gather to say goodbye. On May 17, 2011, Mary Ann Wolff (nee Dornian) died at the age of 93 years. Mary was predeceased by her parents Steve and Flora Dornian, by her husband Anthony, and her son Ken. Mary is survived by her children, Bill (Mary Rose), Laurie (Ron), Fred (Carol), Tom (Janet), Dennis, Marlene (Lyndon), Greg (Marrion), and Doug (Susan), 18 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and many brothers, sisters, and extended family. Prayers will be held at St. Anthony's in Liberty at 8:30 pm on Friday, May 20. The funeral service will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Imperial at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 21. The internment will be at Wolfton Cemetery. WYNN - Christina (nee Podany), age 81: born June 29, 1899, in Stanton County, Nebraska to Frank and Emiela Podany died Mar 1981. She married Joseph Koza, Feb 24, 1925, Clarkson; married Tom Wynn in 1950; sons Leonard Koza & Joseph Koza; daughter Adeline Cool; burial in Imperial Cemetery, Sask. ZARON - Boyd William. Born June 29, 1946 in Imperial, Sask., passed away unexpectedly on June 6, 2004 at the Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, B.C. Predeceased by his father Bill, he will be lovingly missed by his mother Sylvia, wife Margie, daughter Shelly (Jaret), sons Howie and Christopher. Grandson Shawn, mother-in-law Margaret Keller, sisters and brothers-in-law, Aunt Stella, many nieces, nephews, cousins and his many friends. |
