ALLAN - Eleatha (nee Wagner) Allan passed away peacefully on the lovely autumn afternoon of Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the age of 78 years. She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Emma Wagner. Eleatha is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, George; sons Terry and Jim of Regina; brother Marvin (Hazel) Wagner of Tisdale; and sister Arlene Wagner of Santa Monica, CA. Eleatha was born in Tyvan, SK and worked as a nurse in the Cancer Clinic at the Grey Nuns Hospital until 1964. Eleatha was a faithful and enthusiastic fan of the Rough Riders and the Blue Jays. In accordance with her wishes, a private interment service will be held at a later date. ATKINSON - Alice Eva February 12, 1922 June 27, 2009 Alice passed away peacefully on Saturday evening. She is survived by her sister Winnifred Trawick [Calgary]; her daughter Norma Jean [Fort McMurray]; her son Fred Atkinson [Regina] and her granddaughters Bridget Zacharias [Jonathon, Lethbridge] and Brianne Atkinson [Regina]; her daughter Fran Atkinson [Bert Loeffen Prince Albert] and her grandchildren Anthony Loeffen and Amanda Loeffen. She was predeceased by her husband John (Jack) Millar Atkinson; her sisters Isabel Miller and Dorothy Schick and her daughter-in-law Carolyn Atkinson. Alice was born in Regina, Saskatchewan and raised in Tyvan, Saskatchewan. She graduated from Regina's Balfour Technical School. She had a short career with SaskTel as a stenographer before enlisting with the Royal Canadian Air Force (Women's Division) on April 29, 1942. Alice trained as a Clerk in Rockcliffe, Ontario and was stationed at Arnprior, Ontario and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Shortly after her release in 1946 she met Jack in Regina and they were married on October 19, 1946. During their 50 years of marriage, Alice worked in numerous clerical positions with the Public Service Commission. In 1975 she transferred from the Regina Correctional Centre to the Prince Albert Correctional Centre. In January 1977 she left PACC to work at the newly created University of Regina Extension Department's Human Justice Program until retirement. Alice enjoyed gardening, camping, and fishing. Their cabin at Nemeiben was always full of friends, family and fish mainly caught by Alice. Jack and Alice made many friends during their numerous trips to Montego Bay and Jamaica. Alice played the piano and the organ. She sang in the following choirs: Knox Metropolitain [Regina]; Zion United church [Regina]; Wesley United Church [Prince Albert] and, the Watsonairs. She kept busy with her volunteering at Zion and Wesley as well as Cansurmount; Kiwanis Music Festival; Meals on Wheels and numerous other community organizations. Alice was proud of her children's and grandchildren's accomplishments. She will always be remembered for her support and encouragement; her independent nature; her music; her organizational skills; and her sense of humour. A Celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Wesley United Church, 65 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Rev. Tony Thompson officiating. BALLARD - Harvey James Ballard, late of Weyburn, passed away January 3, 2005 at the age of 83 years. Predeceased by his parents George and Hattie Ballard; his first wife Helen in 1967; a brother Clarence and a brother-in-law Donald. Harvey is survived by his wife Mildred Ballard (nee Sloman); his children: Lynda (Greg) Geddis, Picton, ON and Lyle (Marion nee Klein) Ballard, Weyburn; grandchildren: Joanne Geddis, Toronto, ON, Jeffrey (Miriam) Geddis, Toronto, ON, Boyd Ballard (Jessica) of Oklahoma City, OK, Laura (Mark) Missal, Weyburn, and Rhett Ballard (Janelle) of Saskatoon; a sister Dorothy Scott, Weyburn; his in-laws: George Sloman, Elsie Postey, Robert (Kate) Sloman, Wesley (Barb) Sloman, Wilbert (Cecilia) Sloman, Shirley Sloman as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Harvey was born on May 27, 1921 and spent most of his life on the home farm at Francis. He served with the ground crew in the RCAF, during WW II from 1941-1945 and was present in Holland and Belgium when they were liberated. He served on the skating and curling rink boards for several years in Francis. He also managed minor hockey teams for several years, was a board member for the Co-op, the UGG and a charter member of the Lions club. Farming, altering, remaking or building to make farm tasks easier was a great challenge and joy, as well as following his grandchildren's sports or listening to their stories and accomplishments. He was also an avid fan of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and had season tickets for 53 years. A private family service was held at RD Family Memorial Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, with interment at a later date. BALLARD - Mildred "Millie" (nee Sloman) Ballard, late of Weyburn, SK passed away Wednesday October 10, 2012, at the age of 74 years. Millie was predeceased by her parents, Earl and Christina; her husband, Harvey; brothers: Wilbert and Donald; niece, Patricia Postey. Millie is survived by her son, Lyle (Marion) Ballard, Weyburn, SK; grandchildren: Boyd (Jessica) and their son, [Brady], Oklahoma, USA, Laura (Mark) Missal and their children [Nate and Nash], Grand Cayman Islands, Rhett (Janelle) and their son, [Huxley], Vernon, BC; brothers: George Sloman, Hazenmore, SK, Robert (Kate) Sloman, Swift Current, SK, Wesley (Barbara) Sloman, Swift Current, SK; sisters: Elsie Postey, Weyburn, SK, Shirley Sloman, Regina, SK as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Millie was born on June 5, 1938 at Kincaid, SK. She attained her schooling in Aneroid, SK and then attended Normal School in Moose Jaw, SK. Millie started teaching in 1957 in Francis, SK and retired after having taught for 33 years. Millie coached and enjoyed playing girls ball. In 1968, she married Harvey Ballard and together they took up farming. She enjoyed the farm life, gardening and her dogs, especially �Kim�. Millie was active in the United Church and was a member of the Legion Auxiliary, Weyburn Branch #47. She was an avid Rider fan and a long time season ticket holder. Millie also enjoyed traveling to her grandchildren�s sporting events. The family would like to thank the Weyburn General Hospital Nurses and Staff, Allan Blair Cancer Centre and Regina General Hospital for all the care that was given to her. BARTLETT - Margaret Joyce. On Friday, July 21, 2000, Margaret Joyce Bartlett, born March 10, 1928, passed away peacefully at home. Joyce was predeceased by her parents, Clifford Napper and Helena Bixenman; her husband, George Kenneth Bartlett and a sister in infancy. Joyce is survived by her son and daughters: Star (Harv) Parker of Moose Jaw; Scott (Debbie) Bartlett of North Battleford; and Wanda Bartlett of Weyburn; six grandchildren: Rob (Lisa) Parker of Moose Jaw; Kris, Brett and Cody Parker of Moose Jaw; Dustin and Sean Bartlett of Saskatoon; and one great grandchild, Brady Parker. Funeral service was held Tuesday, July 25 at 1:00 p.m. from Hastings-Dionne Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, with Bill Corkum officiating minister. Interment followed in Tyvan Cemetery, Tyvan. The pallbearers were Joyce's six grandsons. BARTLETT - Rae (nee Ford) Bartlett. On Friday November 17th, Rae Bartlett of Goodsoil and formerly of Regina passed away peacefully at the age of 75 after a brave battle with cancer. Rae's memory will be cherished by her loving husband, Ralph; her daughters, Betty (Jim) Taylor (Tina, Lorna, Fawn, Shelley, Tracey, Janice and their families); Noreen (Rob) Reine (Jennifer and Curtis); Debbie (Terry) Hale (Dustin, Allison and her family); Renata (Wayne) Jenkins (Lindsay and Jared); her sister, Edith Pope; her brother, Jerry (Deanna) Ford; her sisters-in-law, Helen Arnold and Diane Bartlett; her aunt, Olga Benn; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins. Rae was predeceased by: her parents, Alfred and Jean Ford; her parents-in-law, Ralph and Nellie Bartlett; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Rae was born in 1931 in Hazenmore, SK and moved to Regina at a young age where she attended Herchmer School and Scott Collegiate. Ralph and Rae raised their family in Regina before retiring to Goodsoil in 1990. In Regina, Rae was an active member of Zion United Church and helped form the Zion Quilting Club. After moving to Goodsoil, Rae became active in the community as a volunteer with the Lions and Hospital Auxillary. She served on the board of Goodsoil Credit Union. Rae received awards for her contributions to the Lions. Just prior to her passing the Goodsoil Lions Club presented to her the Brian Stevenson Award from the Lions Foundation of Canada. Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 23, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. in the Goodsoil Community Hall. Interment will be held at a later date at the Tyvan Cemetery. BERGREEN - Violet J. (nee Millions) Bergreen, daughter of pioneers James and Elizabeth Millions, died peacefully Wednesday, December 12, 2001 at Edmonton. She is survived by her daughter Mildred Jowsey and (John), grandchildren Glenda McElwain, Sheila (Jim) Gregoire, Neil (Janis) Jowsey, Sharon (Glenn) Price, Janelle Jowsey, and great grandchildren Meaghan and Brian McElwain; Phillip, Bruce and Rosemarie Gregoire; Lauren, Kevin and Andrew Jowsey; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Violet is predeceased by her loving husband Laud, her brothers Arthur, Victor, Hilliard, and her twin sister Mildred. Violet was born at Carnduff, NWT, October 10, 1902. She was an elementary school teacher in various prairie locations prior to marriage. She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star, long time member of the Rebeka Lodge and the United Church. Violet enjoyed a good health for most of her 99 years, and enjoyed her family tremendously. She and Laud lived in Francis, Saskatchewan for 19 years before retiring to Regina. At the age of 90 she moved to Edmonton to be near her family and resided at Canterbury Manor. She made new acquaintances and renewed relationships with friends, nieces and nephews in the area. BIRD - Agnes Claire (nee Hager) Bird passed away on April 15, 2001 at the Pasqua Hospital, Regina, Sk. at the age of 91 years. Predeceased by her first husband William (Bill) Bird in 1982; son Harold Clare Bird in 1989; her second husband Howard Ernest (Rusty) Buchan in 1995. Agnes is survived by her daughter-in-law Jeanne Bird; granddaughter Barbara Anderson; grandson Michael Bird; great grandchildren: Sean, Jamie, Christopher, Jennifer, Mitchell and Erica. Agnes was born in Tyvan, Sask. on August 1, 1909 and lived most of her life in Regina with sixteen years in Ottawa where her husband Bill was a Director with the Department of Agriculture. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, College Avenue Entrance, 2136 College Ave., Regina with Michael Ellis officiating. Interment in Tyvan Cemetery. BIXENMAN - Louise (nee Ashbaugh) Bixenman passed away peacefully on November 8, 2002. She was predeceased by her husband Albert; parents: Frank and Emma Ashbaugh; and daughter Beverley Smith. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter June (Eric) Tomlinson; son-in-law Murray (Bev) Smith; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Doug (Janice) Smith and their children: Landin and Jayna; Dean (Brenda) Smith and their children: Jerrod and Tyler; Duane (Bev) Smith and their children: Courtney and Cassidee; Wendy Payne (Tony Johnston), Timothy (Carmen) Payne, and Susan Payne. Louise was born on April 19, 1910 in Indianola, Iowa, USA. She emigrated to Tyvan, SK with her parents at the age of 2 years. She married Albert Bixenman on July 2, 1935. They farmed 4 miles southwest of Tyvan, semi-retiring into Tyvan in 1961 and retiring in Regina in 1974. Louise taught at Silversville School for eight years until her daughter Beverley was born. She was active in Tyvan community clubs - Tyvan Homemakers, 4-H, and Tyvan United Church. She loved to play bridge and enjoyed her last three years at the Marian Chateau with the dear friends she made there. Louise's kind and loving ways will always be cherished by her family and friends. MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held on Monday, November 11, 2002 at 3:00 p.m. at the Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East. BLATTNER - Anton "Tony". On Wednesday, April 4, 2001, Anton "Tony" Blattner, passed away at the age of 69 years. Tony was born in Francis, Saskatchewan on January 17, 1932. Predeceased by his parents Jack and Barbara, daughter Donelda and sister Eveleen. Tony is survived by his wife Hertha (nee Leippi), son Norman (Kelly), step-daughters Erica, Helen (Morris), Ruth (Dale) and Carol (Randy); three grandchildren, eighteen step-grandchildren; two sisters Johanna and Betty Ann; three brothers John (Carol), Ben (Helen) and Stephan as well as numerous other relatives. A memorial service will be held at the Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East on Monday, April 9, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dennis Fingas officiating. Interment of cremated remains will be held at Regina Memorial Gardens Cemetery following the service. BORKOWSKI - Philippine (nee Scherle) Borkowski. It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Philippine Borkowski of Regina, on August 31, 2009 at the age of 94 years. Phil was predeceased by her husband Albert; her parents John and Katherine Scherle; sisters Adelheid Huber and Hedwig Huber, brother in infancy; as well as nieces and nephews. Left to cherish her memory are her children Alan (Barbara), William (Joann) and Joanne Langelier; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and many good friends. Phil went to Normal school in Regina, then taught in southwestern Saskatchewan while teaching at Monodale School in the Tyvan area, where she met and married Albert Borkowski. During the war Albert and Phil lived on the west coast. After the war they returned to the Tyvan area where they farmed until their retirement. Phil took pride in keeping a beautiful yard filled with gorgeous flowerbeds. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy#1 East, Regina, SK on Friday, September 4, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. BOUCHER - Daisy May Boucher, passed away at the Beverly Centre Nursing Home, on Sunday, February 4, 2001 at the age of 101 years. Daisy was born in Bristol, Quebec, March 29, 1899 and raised on a homestead near Tyvan, Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her husband Walter, who died July 26, 1968. They lived in Yorkton, SK from 1934 until Walter's retirement in 1962 when they moved to Crystal Lake, SK for the summer months and wintered in Venice, Florida. Daisy resided in Florida from 1968 until she moved to Calgary in 1988. Daisy will be remembered for her strength of character, courageous spirit her ability to adapt and to be flexible in managing the enormous changes that took place over 101 years. She has been an inspiration to her family and to her many friends. She leaves her loving son Warren and daughter-in-law Bev, grandchildren, Susan Simington of Toronto, Lesley Boucher McMorran (Ron) of Ottawa, and Tom (Caroline Maynard) of Ottawa, five great grandchildren, Ben and Jake, Jamie and Megan, and Jeremy, as well as her sister Helen Whiting of Dryden, Ontario. A celebration of Daisy's life was held at the Beverly Centre, (1729-90th Ave S.W.) at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 8, 2001. BUCHAN - Allen Frederick passed away suddenly at the age of 94 years on Friday, January 19, 2007. Born in Tyvan, SK. Al enlisted in the RCAF in 1939 and served his country for the entire 2nd World War. He returned to Tyvan in 1945, where he farmed until retiring to Regina in 1977. Al will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 67 years, Bernice; daughter, Barb Seed; son, Blair (Bev); grandchildren, Shellee, Kristie (Richard), Brad (Kim Langston) and Greg (Sarah Allen), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Bertha; sister, Marjorie Laurie; brother, Howard and sister, Roberta Hill. BUCHAN - Beverley (nee Lebbert) July 17, 1949 - April 15, 2014. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Beverley (Bev) Buchan, beloved wife, mother, grandma, sister, and friend. Bev passed away on April 15, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. A life-long learner and natural teacher, Bev taught in the Regina Catholic School Division for 30+ years before her retirement in 2010. It was then that Bev began her favourite journey of all - that of being a full-time grandma to her four beloved grandchildren: Addey, Maggie, Keeley and Ben. Grandma Bev was a tireless playmate and loved nothing better than to plan activities and "lessons" for her grandkids; watching their young minds grow and expand. Bev's upbringing on the farm near Fillmore, SK cultivated her love of the outdoors and gardening from an early age. She was happiest spending long hours in the yard and garden at home, at the lake or in her kids' yards; and had a talent for nurturing all living things. Never one to sit down for more than a moment at a time, Bev lived life to its fullest. Her love for life shone through in all her passions and hobbies: baking, sewing, curling, gardening, teaching sessionals for the Faculty of Education, Scottish country dancing, hosting get-togethers, playing cards, and travelling with Blair and their wonderful group of friends. Hers was a life of service to others, and Bev enriched the lives of so many people lucky enough to call her family or a friend. Bev is predeceased by her parents, Loretta and Laurence Lebbert, and in-laws Al and Bernice Buchan. Left to treasure her memory are her husband of 41 years, Blair, sons Brad and Greg, and daughters-in-law Kim and Sarah and their families. Bev also leaves behind her younger sister Dorothy (Maurice) Herauf, sister-in-law Barb Seed, nieces Shellee, Kristie, Dawn and Jill, numerous other family members, and countless special friends who will keep her in their hearts forever. Bev was one-of-a-kind; she will be remembered for her incredibly positive and generous spirit and her beautiful, selfless soul. Bev will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered. A family Interment will follow in the summer in Tyvan, SK. CAINE - Marjorie Ann (nee Schiller) Caine of Tyvan, passed away March 17, 2000 at the age of 67 years, at Fillmore Health Centre. She was born May 22, 1932 in Regina. Predeceased by her parents, William and Mary Schiller. Marjorie is survived by her husband Fred Caine of Tyvan; four sons: Gary Caine of Saskatoon; Glenn (Marlene) Caine of Drayton Valley, AB; Gene (Donna) Caine of Drumheller, AB; Mark Caine of Regina; and one daughter, Vicki (fiancee Kevin Vandale) of Weyburn; six grandchildren: Landon, Dennis, Codie, Lance, Jenni and Kayla; two great grandchildren: Austin and Taylor; three brothers: Herman (Maggie) of Tyvan; Bill (Marion) of Tyvan; and Jerry (Cherene) of Regina; one sister Dorothy (Joe) Putz of Regina; mother-in-law Mary Caine of Weyburn; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held Tuesday, March 21 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church with Father Louis Abello celebrant. Interment followed in Tyvan cemetery. All those in attendance were considered to be honorary pallbearers. The active pallbearers were Orest Schiller, Murray Schiller, Ian Schiller, Landon Caine, Dennis Caine and Lance Caine. CAMERON - Donald Duncan passed away November 1, 2000 in Saskatoon, SK, following a decades-long battle with Parkinson's disease. Born near Francis, SK, in 1919, Donald attended school in Francis, farmed for several years in the Francis community, contributed willingly in church and other community activities, becoming well-known as a gentle and kindly man with a keen sense of humor. From 1954 until 1984, he worked in the poultry department, College of Agriculture, University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. Predeceased by his parents Archie and Margaret Cameron, his brother L. Archie Cameron, his sisters Janet and Margaret Cameron, and his wife Leila Wilson, Donald is survived - and will be remembered by - his sister Flora Mitchell, his sister Marion (Ron) Haney, his nephews Cameron, Ronald (Tamara), and Donald (Anna) Haney, his sister-in-law Alice (Archie) Cameron, and his numerous cousins and many friends. Donald's family wishes to acknowledge - with heartfelt thanks - the very special care given to Donald by the staff and volunteers at the Saskatoon Convalescent Home during his four-year stay with them. Robert "Bob" Cameron of Calgary, passed away suddenly on Thursday, June 22, 2006 at the age of 58 years. Born in Regina, Bob grew up in Tyvan, SK. Upon completion of his university degree in 1968, he moved to Calgary where he worked in the information technology sector, and resided there until his death. Bob enjoyed many activities, but especially was an avid golfer. He touched the lives of many with his kindness and positive attitude. Bob will be missed by his soul mate, Karen; son Clayton Cameron of Edmonton, AB; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Aaron Chute; and grandson, Isaac Chute of Okotoks, AB. He is also missed by his sister, Delee Cameron (Ted Quade) of Regina, SK; as well as numerous relatives and friends. CARROLL - Phyllis Carroll, late of Weyburn, passed away on July 21st, 2007 at the age of 87 years. On Friday, January 28, 2005 Oscar Deters, late of William Booth Special Care Home in Regina and formerly of Francis, Saskatchewan passed away at the age of 90 years. Oscar was born in Czechoslovakia May 15, 1914. He immigrated to Canada with his family in 1927. Oscar married Cora (Kennedy) in 1943 and they farmed in the Francis area until Oscar was injured in 1971. This injury forced the family to move to Regina as they could no longer manage the farm and needed to be near medical care. Oscar is survived by his wife Cora; sons Larry (Audrey), Garry (Jane), Dennis (Kathie) and Morley; grandchildren Tim, Colette, Todd, Monica, Auren, Kristin and Ryan (Sandra); sister Blanche and brother Alfred as well as numerous other relatives and friends. DOWNTON - Marjorie Geraldine (nee McEwen). Gerry passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 6, 2009 in Regina, SK at the age of 89 years. Gerry was predeceased by her husband and soul mate Ernie (1986); mother Viola (1994) and father Ward (1999); in-laws Gladys and Joe Dalton, Aubrey and Joan Downton, Inez and Ben Nagel. Gerry was born in 1920 to Ward and Viola McEwen of Tyvan, SK where she spent her childhood, before moving to Regina to attend Normal School in 1939-1940. She taught school for 28 years two years north of Milestone, two years in Wilcox and 24 years at Herchmer School in Regina before retiring in 1968. Gerry married Ernie Downton of Wilcox in 1960 and thoroughly enjoyed the next 26 years on the farm, until 1986 when her husband died. Gerry then moved back to Regina spending more than 20 active years. Gerry traveled extensively throughout her life including holidays in Cuba, New Orleans, hiking in the Rocky Mountains and in later years to Hawaii, the Maritimes and Phoenix. Gerry was a very giving, loving and gracious lady who had a way of making everyone she met feel special. The family would like to thank her friend and caregiver Karen Marklinger and the staff at Parkside Extendicare, all who made her last few years very enjoyable and comfortable. At Gerry's wish, no funeral service will be held. DREHER - Vincent passed away at Queen Victoria Estates Senior's Residence on Sunday, March 20, 2011 at the age of 85 years. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Helen Dreher; brothers, Frank, Daniel and Richard; sisters, Helen and Elizabeth; brothers-in-law, Frank Schick, Carl Lenuis, Adam Lang, Nick Lang, Joe Wild and Roy Lloyd; sisters-in-law, Minnie, Noella, Rachel and Donna Dreher as well as numerous uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces. Vincent is survived by seven brothers and seven sisters, Kate Schick; Isadore (Maddie); Mary Wild; Genevieve Lang; Maggie (Herman) Schiller; all of Regina, Theresa (John) Becker, Plentywood, Montana; Joe (Sharon), Coleman, Alberta; Wendell (Evelyn), Regina; George (Rita), Tyvan; Paul (Terrie), Regina; Gabe (Elaine), Regina; Rose Lloyd, Saskatoon; Kasper (Bettie), Calgary; and Carol Stoudt, Langley, BC; sister-in-law Dolores Dreher, Regina; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Vincent was born May 7, 1925 in Kendal, Saskatchewan and attended Silver Valley School. In 1942, he moved to Francis, Saskatchewan with his family and worked as a hired hand for farmers in the area. The family then moved to Tyvan in 1945 and he farmed with his brother Frank in the area. Vincent was gifted with the skill of water witching. He was very successful in assisting many farmers to find wells on their farms. His gift led him to work for a gentleman who owned a well-digging machine drawn by horses. Vincent later purchased the machine and he, along with brothers Frank, and then Dan, dug wells for farmers in the area with a 90% success rate of finding water. In 1967, Vincent moved to Regina and worked for Wholesale Industries (which later became Nuco Building Products Limited) for 25 years and retired in 1990. Upon his retirement, Vincent became very involved in Little Flower Parish. He was a member of the Men's Club and later represented the club on Parish Council for many years. He was a member of the church choir until his passing. During his time in Regina, Vincent resided with his mother and became her support, and in her later years, her caregiver until her passing in 1999. Vincent enjoyed going to dances and playing cards with family and friends. On May 1, 2009, he moved out of his home and into assisted living at Queen Victoria Estates where he enjoyed being with the people, playing cards and shuffleboard and being cared for by others. Funeral Mass will be held at Little Flower RC Church, 420 College Avenue, Regina on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Barry Anwender presiding. A private family interment will take place in the Francis Cemetery, in Francis. DUKE - William (July 12, 1927 - November 13, 2013). Bill passed away peacefully in Tatagwa View Care Home, Weyburn, SK. with his wife and family by his side on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at the age of 86 years. Bill was predeceased by his parents Fred and Ella Duke; one brother Lance; his sisters, Frances Rowe, Margaret Kalmring and Nelda Meadows. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years Joyce; daughter Joanne (Lorne) Honeysett; son Barry (Rita Wiome); daughter Janice (Keith) Johnstone; four grandsons (his pride and joy), Shawn and Trevor Mus; Jody (Christy) and Jeremy (Stacey); five great grandsons: Brayden, Cody, Kaiden, Evan and Nash and one great granddaughter Madison. Bill was born at Francis, he attended school until his father passed away. At the age of 15 Bill took over the farm, putting up feed for the cattle, seeding and harvesting, fixing and repairing. When farming was not good, Bill took a job working for a glass company in Regina. He eventually moved his family to Regina while still continuing to farm on weekends. Bill worked hard all of his life, working in Regina and farming yet he still found time to build their home in Francis. Bill and Joyce enjoyed spending several months during the winter in Weslaco, Texas for a number of years until Parkinsons prevented them from going. While in Texas Bill enjoyed golfing, in 1995 he hit two hole in ones which he laughed about for a long time "not bad for a novice" In 2009 Bill and Joyce sold their home in Francis and moved to Weyburn. Bill moved to Crocus Villa for 6 months and then too Tatagwa View. A man with a great sense of humour, he always had time for his kids and grandkids. He could build and fix anything that came his way. At Bill�s request there will be no funeral service. Joyce and his family will lay him to rest at a later date. DUNCAN - Marjorie Irene (nee Nell) Duncan, retired nursing supervisor and farmer passed away on Sunday, October 6th, 2002 at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon. She was born Majorie Nell on August 25th, 1912, the third and middle child of William and Annie (Irwin) Nell on a small farm near Francis, SK. The family and many members of her mother's family then moved nearer to Odessa. They built a one-room country schoolhouse, named Irwin School after her family. Marjorie attended there till grade eight, took her first two years of high school by correspondence, and then two years in Indian Head, living with her grandparents, Tom and Sarah Irwin. She graduated from Regina General Hospital as a Registered Nurse in 1941, from McGill University's Program for Registered Nurses in 1944, and from the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in Nursing Administration in 1961. Majorie worked for over ten years as Assistant Superintendent of Nurses at Regina General until 1958, at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon while studying at the U. of S. and became Educational Director of Saskatoon City Hospital until closure of the school in 1969. She then worked at City Hospital as Nursing Personnel Director and finally as Director of Specialties until her retirement in 1975. Marjorie married Francis Guy Duncan in 1946. Guy had been raised on a farm at Hanley, SK since 1906, and managed the farm with his brother Gordon and sister Gladys. Marjorie and Guy commuted between farm and city life in Hanley and Regina, and later Saskatoon, for all their married life. Guy died in March of 1978; Marjorie continued to live in Saskatoon and rented out the farm. Although suffering for many years from progressive blindness caused by glaucoma, Marjorie led an active life in her local church, Bethel United, especially enjoying her many friends and her bridge clubs. She made many trips to countries around the globe, both with Guy and after his death, with members of her family. She lived in her own house until three and a half years ago, when she joined the community in Luther Tower. Marjorie will be greatly missed by her loving family, including her sister, Mary Fuhrmann of Regina; brother and sister-in-law, Bert and Mary Nell of Victoria; her nine nieces and nephews, their spouses and children numbering 16 great nieces and nephews and one great-great nephew. Predeceased by her brother Irwin and his wife Aeneid of Francis; brother Ivan and his wife Ann of Odessa; brother-in-law Eugen Fuhrmann of Regina; brother-in-law Gordon Duncan of Hanley and sister-in-law Gladys Duncan of Hanley. Leonard was born on December 31, 1921 in Lumsden, Sask., to Edith and John Dyce. He was the youngest of 4 children. When he was a young boy, the family moved to Francis, Sask., where his step-father farmed. Len grew up and spent most of his life there having taken over the family farm. Leonard moved to town when he retired from the farm. Len moved into Regina in 2001 because of ill health. Len valued the time he spent with family and his involvement in the Masonic Lodge. Leonard was predeceased by his father, John Dyce, mother Edith McIvor, brother, John Dyce in infancy, sister Kathleen Graham, brother, Jack Dyce, stepfather, Angus McIvor and brother-in-law, George Graham. Len is survived by his sister-in-law, Elsie Dyce, niece, Brenda (Bill) Sanderson, niece, Susan Dyce, nephew, Rodney Dyce, all of Thunder Bay, Ont., nephew, Brian (Donna) Dyce, Winnipeg, Man., nephew, Patrick Dyce, Oyama, B.C. Len is also survived by other relatives. FUHRMANN - Mary Eileen (nee Nell) Fuhrmann (Saturday, December 10, 1910 - Wednesday, August 31, 2005). Mary died peacefully at home with family by her side. She was born on a farm at Francis, Sask. to William and Annie Nell, who came to Saskatchewan in May 1905 and March 1907, respectively. She was the second eldest of three boys and two girls. In March 1915 the family moved to a farm five miles SW of Odessa, Sask. She was educated at Irwin School, named for her mother's family, several of whom lived in the area. After passing grade ten by correspondence with honours, she went to the Reliance School of Commerce in Regina in 1928. In June 1929 she got a job with Fuhrmann & Co, a wholesale and retail meat market. She was the only female employee and while owner Eugen Fuhrmann served in WWII, she ran the office. In 1948, she and Eugen were married and they successfully ran the business together until they retired in the 1970s. They always enjoyed traveling, supporting the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and entertaining their many friends. After Eugen's death in 1989, Mary continued an active social life. The family would like to especially thank the many caregivers whose support enabled her to remain in her own home in recent years. Predeceased by brothers Irwin (Aeneid) and Ivan (Ann), and sister Marjorie (Guy Duncan), she is survived by brother Albert (Mary), nine nieces and nephews and their partners, and many of the next generations. GETZ - Wendelin Michael Getz, late of Fort Qu'Appelle, passed away peacefully on August 11th, 2009 at the Balcarres Integrated Care Centre. Wendel was born on Jan. 14th, 1928 in Sedley, SK., and moved to Senate, SK, then later to Francis, SK., where he farmed for nearly 60 years of his life. He retired to Spalding, SK., and his last residence before going into BICC was Fort Qu'Appelle. Wendel was predeceased by his parents Michael and Veronica Getz, his infant sister Emma and brother-in-law (John) Emerson Seguin. HALFACREE - Olive Evelyn (nee Tilt) passed away on August 9th, 2003 at the Oilfields Hospital in Black Diamond, Alberta at the age of 91 years. Olive is survived by her loving husband Colson; sons James McNeil, Ralph McNeil, Lloyd McNeil, Douglas McNeil and Bob McNeil; sisters Martha West, Marjorie Mills, Eva Holt and Aubrey Tilt as well as 25 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. Olive was predeceased by her parents Brock and Annabelle Tilt; sister Eda Davis and brother Francis Tilt. Olive grew up in Francis, Saskatchewan were she later farmed along side her father. She then continued her love of farming when she married Colson and farmed together in Lumsden, Saskatchewan. She was a Silver Cross Mother with the Royal Canadian Legion and had all 5 sons serve in the military throughout the world including Australia, Laos, Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Cypress, Norway, Germany as well as the seven seas. A memorial service was held on August 11th, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at the Snodgrass Funeral Chapel in Okotoks. HAWTON - Winnifred Inez (nee Cameron) Hawton, late of Weyburn, Sask. passed away on March 1, 2002 at the age of 90 years. Winnifred was born on the farm at Tyvan, Sask. on May 3, 1911. She received her Elementary and High School education in Tyvan. In 1929 she attended Regina Normal School and years later took several University courses. Winnie was one of six children of Hilliard and Minnie Cameron, growing up on the farm near Tyvan. Her older brothers Wray, Harold and Frank were there for their sisters Pearl, Winnie and Alma. Theirs was a good life. It was before the crash and the "Dirty Thirties". In 1934 she married Jack Hawton at Weyburn, Sask. They were blessed with two children. In 1930, Winnie went to teach south of Weyburn at Riverview School and taught there for four years. She then stayed home to raise her two children. In 1948 she resumed her teaching career with the opening of the Lowland District School with ten students. With the Centralization of the School Districts in 1957, Winnie went to teach Grade five at Queen Elizabeth School in Weyburn until her retirement in 1976. Teaching was her love. Winnie was always very interested in her present and former students and loved to hear about their achievements after they left school. She was very interested in the education of her children and her grandchildren. She attended the high school graduation for all of her grandchildren. Winnie taught Sunday School at St. Andrew's United Church and was active in the Ladies' Aid until its disbandment in 1988. She, also, served in the South Weyburn Community Club and in Allic Griffin Unit of the U.C.W. of Grace United Church. In 1968 she joined the Alexandria Rebekah Lodge #14. She served as Noble Grand in 1975 and District Deputy President in 1981. She spent many very enjoyable volunteer hours working with the R.M. of Weyburn History Book Committee. Winnie enjoyed her travels to Hawaii and Bahamas as well as to various places in Canada and the U.S. Winnie and Jack lived on the farm 12 miles south of Weyburn from 1934 to 1957 when they moved to 7th St., Weyburn. A few years after Jack's death, Winnie moved to Bell Court Apartments. In 1996 she moved to the Weyburn Special Care Home. Her love of the mountains and the Banff area resulted in her relocation to Calgary, where her career continued with Husky Oil and Veteran Affairs until retirement. She also spent several years running her own business and volunteering for various organizations. HUTCHINSON - Arthur "Art", passed away peacefully at the D.V.A Ward of Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, Regina on Tuesday, March 5, 2002. Art was born on March 10, 1925 and except for his years in the R.C.A.F. lived at Tyvan all his life until 1999 when he moved to Regina. He is predeceased by his parents Richard and Ada Hutchinson; three brothers, Waldron, Duncan and Don, and one sister Isabella and twin infant sons, Robert and Ronald. Art is survived by his wife Jean of 53 years; son Doug, daughters Lorna (Darryl) and Laurie (Ron); also six grandchildren Cheryl and Paul Hutchinson, Ashley and Trevor Bray, Ali and Jamie Goldthorpe and several nieces and nephews. During his lifetime Art became a self-taught carpenter. Many homes have evidence of his handicraft. He also drove a school bus for 33 years plus working part-time in the Post Office. HUTCHINSON - Jean (nee McLean) Hutchinson passed away peacefully at the Wascana Grace Hospice in Regina, on April 27, 2006. She is predeceased by her husband Art; parents Duncan and Lily; stepmother Olive; and twin infant sons. Jean is survived by her son Doug; daughters Lorna (Darryl) and Laurie (Ron); six grandchildren: Cheryl, Paul, Ashley, Trevor, Ali and Jamie; sister Lois (Jim) and several nieces and nephews. Jean was born on August 24, 1925 in Liberty. She grew up in Liberty but lived most of her married life in Tyvan. Jean was the post mistress of the Tyvan Post Office for 40 years until retirement in 1990. In 1999 Jean and Art moved to Regina. A memorial service will be held in the Tyvan Community Hall on Saturday, May 6, at 1:00 p.m. followed by a reception and then interment at the Tyvan Cemetery. Rev. Robin Osborne will officiate. HUTTON - Douglas Haig Hutton was born on August 8, 1919; died on August 9, 2008. Doug lived in rural Saskatchewan. Born at Huntoon and was raised on a small dairy farm near Francis where he learned to love country life. He then moved to a neighboring town of Tyvan and married Kathleen Dodson on June 29, 1944. They lived on a farm and raised their 3 daughters and 1 son. They were well known in the area as the folks that lived in the stone house and Doug was known for his mechanical and welding work for all the neighbors as well as inventing a few machines that would be needed on the farm. He even ran a small business of cultivators that would work the dry land efficiently. He wanted to teach his 4 children his work ethic and he wanted them to have a good life with good values. When he came in for his good home-cooked meals he would be seen reading - always 'things worthwhile' which included information about his Creator. He was an avid reader into his senior years. Doug and Kay retired in Weyburn and about 2 years after his wife, Kay's death he moved to Saskatoon to be close to his family. (Kathleen May Hutton died September 16, 2004 at the age of 80). During his retirement he liked to work in his garage and his delight was in reading - about the time when the whole earth will be a paradise. He felt that he will be able to continue to farm and garden. He is remembered by his children: Linda (David) Froese; Doug (Anita) Hutton and Carrie Hutton; his grandchildren: Rhonda (Jon) Rein; Darren Hutton (Deanna); Cheryl Hutton (Aaron); Liana Eadie; Devin (Monique) Froese; Shannon (Jay) Schamehorn; his great grandchildren: Kaitlin & Hayley Schamehorn; Nicholas & Dylan Rein; as well as friends and relatives. JOHNSON - David was born in England in 1928 and passed away near Tyvan, SK on the December 14, 2013. David was a well-known Saskatchewan artist. He designed and executed over 100 stained glass windows in Saskatchewan including windows in the Wascana Rehab Centre, Casino Regina, and Trinity Lutheran church in Regina, and St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church in Weyburn. He also restored windows in many churches including Knox-Metropolitan United Church, First Baptist Church and Holy Rosary Cathedral in Regina. David has paintings and sculpture in many places in Regina including Beth Jacob Synagogue, Regina Cathedral Area Community Association, Connaught Community School in Regina, Weyburn City Hall as well as in private collections. Original designs for windows, the Thatcher trial drawings and some other art work rests with the Saskatchewan Archives and may be accessed by his family. Davids' work earned him the Stained Glass Association of America Award of Excellence in 1993 and the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan Architectural Heritage Award of Excellence in 2010. David was predeceased by his parents Jessie and Harold Johnson; three sisters; his beloved son Peter and grandchild Levi. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 63 years, Christine Johnson, and by his surviving children Rachel, Ruth, Sarah, Paul and Judith. He also leaves behind grandchildren Sarra, Beth, Naomi, Raven, Catrina, Raymond, Dustin, Claudia, Joshua, Sabrina, Cassandra and Caitlin as well as great-grandchildren Jasmine, Eve, Daisy, Brooklyn, Raven, Kaleem, Nayla, Ziya, and Levi. Family and Friends regret to announce the passing of Effie on June 19, 2012 at Nipawin Hospital.Effie was predeceased by her husband Art, who passed away on April 29, 1999. She is survived by her sons, Ron of Montreal, and Jim (Pat) of Banff. Her granddaughters: Samantha (Phil) and Jennifer (Nathan), great-grandchildren: Julia, Levi, Megan and Andrew. Effie was born at Bechard, SK to Henry and Jean Irvine on February 22, 1919. Sadly, Effie's father was buried on her first birthday. In March of 1925, her mother Jean married Hugh Stewart of Lang, SK and later moved to Francis, SK. Effie was predeceased by her Brother Harry Irvine, stepfather Hugh Stewart, mother Jean Stewart, brothers, Hugh, Gordon, and Jack Stewart and sister Jean McClinton (Stewart). She is survived by Stewart sisters Rose (Bunty) Anderson and Mary Keeler and Stewart brother Jim. Effie taught at many different schools including Corning, Milestone, Sunnydale, Yellow Grass, Radville, Qu'Appelle and Indian Head. She worked in local government administration in the Indian Head Town Office and School Unit as her husband's assistant. She married Art in Toronto while he was in the army at Petawawa on July 31, 1944. They lived in Walpole, Radville, Indian Head, and Nipawin. She was an active member of the United Church and a 60 year plus member of the Rebekah Lodge, joining in 1948. Effie was the president of the Rebekah Assembly of Saskatchewan 1969-1970. She also held several offices in the International Association of Rebekah Assemblies in 1970-1975, travelling extensively in the U.S. for this work.Her hobbies included knitting, fancy work, oil painting, gardening, fishing, picnicking, cooking and preserving, reading and working on her computer, which she had purchased for herself at the age of 80. She sent e-mails until April this year. She was a proud and indefatigable booster of her husband's three published books, "North to Cree Lake," "Face the North Wind," and "Northern Rover." Effie looked forward every week to attending church, dining out with her friends at the Welcome Caf� and spending a spirited afternoon playing cards with special friends Anna, Gladys, and May. She lubricated every social occasion with scalding hot tea, spiked with a splash from an always-handy lemon.The family would like to thank everyone at the Nipawin Hospital, Kelsey Trail Home Care and her neighbours at Pioneer House for their care and support. A special thank-you going to her true friend Lois Anderson, who enabled Effie to maintain her much-valued independence as long as she could. With great sadness the family of John say farewell to their beloved husband and father. John passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2008 in his home after a lengthy battle with cancer. John was born on his father's farm. He farmed with his father and rented land in the Francis area until his father's death when he took over and farmed the family land until illness forced his retirement in 1995. KELLS - Alma Fern (nee Cameron), late of Regina, formerly of Stoughton, SK, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at the age of 93 years. She is survived by her two loving sons, Wayne (Gail) of Salmon Arm, BC and Wesley (Lorna) of Red Deer, AB; four grandchildren, Andrew (Mary), Alison (Darcy), Andrea, Julie; one greatgrandchild, Nolan. Alma was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, Richard Albert on August 3, 2006; her parents, Hilliard and Minnie Cameron; three brothers, Wray, Harold and Frank; two sisters, Pearl Gall and Winnifred Hawton. Alma was born on December 27, 1913 on a farm near Tyvan, SK. She received her elementary and high school education in Tyvan. In 1933 Alma attended Normal School in Regina. For the next ten years she taught school in various country schools, ending her teaching career at Indian Head in 1945. The following year she married Albert Kells, a farmer, of Stoughton. While raising her two sons at Stoughton, Alma took an active part in the community. In 1965 the family moved to Regina where she continued doing volunteer work. For many years she worked with the Red Cross Blood Donors organization, Wesley Wheelers, and twenty years with Meals on Wheels. Alma liked games of all kinds, lawn bowling, curling, and especially playing bridge. In 1989 they moved into Rainbow Towers and then in 1999 they moved to Marian Chateau. In need of extra care they moved into a private nursing home in 2002. KIRKPATRICK - Arthur Chichester Kirkpatrick passed away in Regina on Wednesday, January 15, 2003. Art was born in Tyvan, Saskatchewan on April 24, 1914. He is survived by his wife Lillian of Regina, three daughters: Pat Prior (Ron) of Fort Saskatchewan, AB, Gwen Kirkpatrick of San Diego, CA and Frances Joan Kirkpatrick (Nik Maissen) of Kelowna, BC, his sister Kay McGregor of Regina and two grandsons: Chris Prior of Fort Saskatchewan and Thomas Prior of Vancouver, BC. Following his tour of duty in the Navy, Art worked for Renfrew Farm Equipment, moved to Oliver-Cockshutt-White Motors and was eventually the manager of the western division of farm equipment. He retired after forty-three years and invested in community activities. He was active with the Masons, Lakeview United Church, Meals on Wheels, served as an organizer of the Regina Summer Games and was a member of the Association of Canadian Travellers for over sixty years. Art will be remembered for his love of sports. He played hockey with the Regina Pats, baseball during his service in the Navy, enjoyed hunting and curling and was an accomplished golfer. His daughters wish to express their respect and appreciation for his unselfish support as a single parent when their mother (Mickey Kirkpatrick) passed away in 1957. We are proud of his accomplishments and grateful to him. He taught by example how to be a good neighbour and good friend. He knew he was loved. KLEIN - Harvey James (August 19, 1947 - June 12, 2014). Harvey passed away suddenly at his home near Francis, Sask. He was born and raised on his family farm. He attended Pleasant View School then attended Francis School and one year at Muenster College. He farmed with his mom and dad and then took over the family farm. He married Gloria Deck on May 1, 1970 and celebrated 44 years together. To help make ends meet he and Gloria got their bus driver licenses in 1980 and drove up till his last day, and it became such a part of his life that it was part of his retirement plan. Harvey loved visiting with family and friends and always had a great story to tell. His grandchildren were a source of great pride and joy and loved having them visit and going to visit them. He served on RM council for 10 years and was involved in the community serving on other boards for a number of years. He loved travelling and "putzing" in the yard, finding joy in fixing things and having them work again. He never hesitated to lend a hand and help someone that needed help. In his own life he sought help and found the Lord; his steadfast faith carried him through the many trials life threw his way. He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Gloria Klein; their five children, Tracy and Rich Edmison (Kyle and Sarah), Audrey and Chris Grealish (Chloe and Liam), Bonnie and Donovan Carroll (Matthew, Miranda, Rebecca, Anna, Mercedes, and Seth), Kevin and Shannon Klein (Kailey, Maddie and Nathan) and Jennifer and Kevin Ward (Raelene, Brianna and Alexa). Katherine was born and raised in Francis, SK. She married Valentine Klein in August 1950 and started their family in Regina. They both retired to Calgary in 1983 to be closer to family. Katherine was a loving and caring mother with many talents and always there for her family to lend a helping hand. She was an exceptional cook and baker, winning many awards at the Weyburn fair. She was a rural correspondent for the Weyburn Review for 32 years. Anne became a resident of Souris Valley Extended Care Centre in January 2000 where she continued to be active, participating in many social and recreational activities. He could always be heard whistling a happy tune while he worked. He was very fond of children and they very much loved him in return. Kay moved in July 2006 with grandson, Kevin, Brandy and Levi Linnen until December 23, 2006 in which she moved into Regina at Lily Rose Apt. in which son Wayne (Josie) Linnen managed, until her passing away. Marjorie was a quiet, deeply spiritual woman, and a dearly loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Wayne passed peacefully on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at the age of 64 years. Predeceased by his parents Rae & Kay Linnen, he is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Josie (nee Ziegler), daughters Jacqueline (Fred) Curts & Sheri Linnen, son Kevin (Brandy) Linnen, his loving grandchildren Crystal Linnen, Rebecca, Nolan & Jessica Curts, Levi & Dennis Linnen & great-granddaughter Vanessa Laviolette. Wayne is also survived by his brother Cliff (Diana) Linnen, brother-inlaw Joe (Sherry) Ziegler, sisters-in-law Louise Linnen & Helen Sebastian, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews, as well as many cherished lifelong friends. Wayne grew up on the family farm in Francis, SK and married his high school sweetheart Josie (nee Ziegler) on May 1, 1965. They farmed until 1998 and then moved to Regina were they are the caretakers of Lily Rose Apartments. Wayne was so proud and loved his family very much. On the morning of March 27, 2012, while holding her grand-daughter Janna's hand, our much loved and cherished mother Myrna Corinne (Marren) Love, passed away. She was born in Tyvan, Saskatchewan in 1934, and lived her formative years on a farm just outside of town. During her youth, our mom was an accomplished athlete, and developed a life-long passion for baseball. When her sons were small she could often be seen pitching the ball to them on Princess Place in Regina. She was an avid bowler in her youth, and as an adult she spent many winters at the curling rink. As a teenager, our mom would often babysit during the summer months, and it was while babysitting at the beach, that she first caught our father's eye. He was smitten, and who wouldn't be she was a stunning beauty and fun to be with. She eloped with our father just prior to her 21st birthday and stayed home to raise the five of us until we were all well into school. Try as she might to escape her small town roots, she could not hide the fact that she could chop wood and shovel snow like a true Saskatchewan farm girl. She was an amazing hostess, and along with our father had some very memorable parties. That talent was often called upon to organize events in the workplace, and she loved doing it. She was an executive secretary at Deloitte Touche until her retirement at age 60, and she missed the responsibility very much after she left. Always a community leader, she filled the retirement years by volunteering for many causes, including Heart and Stroke and the Diabetes Society. The last five years of her life were difficult as she struggled to come to terms with a progressively debilitating disease. Corticobasal Degeneration first robbed our mother of her ability to communicate clearly. This caused her much anxiety and frustration as she was the best communicator when we were all growing up. I suppose with five children born within 8 years she had to be! She lost her husband of nearly 56 years, (Don Love), in December 2010. She was also predeceased by her parents, Jack and Maybelle Marren, and all her siblings; Marvin, Byrdine Meyers, and Murray. She lived the last four years of her life in a nursing home, and we are so very thankful that her final 3 years were spent with the nurturing care from the staff at Riverview. She is survived by three sisters-in-law, and two brothers-in-law: Shirley Marren of Calgary, Nancy (Love) and Don Hipperson of Regina, and Mike and Jean Love of Denver, Co. There are also many nieces, nephews and friends scattered across the continent who she loved dearly. Our mother left a lasting legacy of children who will never forget. A private family burial will take place. MAGUIRE - Sarah Edna "Sadie" (nee Freeman) Maguire. On Friday, December 21, 2007, Sarah Edna "Sadie" Maguire passed away one month short of her 103rd birthday. Born at Killarney, Manitoba, January 25, 1905, she was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Freeman; four brothers, Tom, Bill, Ben and Russ and three sisters, Fanny, May and Olive. Sadie will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Marion Lewis of Daytona Beach, Florida and son, Wayne (Joan) Maguire of Regina; five grandchildren: Blair, Maureen and Shawn Turner, Jeffrey and Lesley Maguire and four great grandchildren: Carley, Natalie, Brenna and Sarah Turner of Bentenville, Arkansas. Sadie was raised on the family farm, graduated from Teacher's College in 1921 and taught school in western Saskatchewan for five years. In 1927 she married Art Maguire and they lived in the Village of Osage, Tyvan and Francis. They raised two children, Marion and Wayne. Sadie was a member of numerous clubs and associations in Francis; as a member of the Eastern Star, she held the positions of 'Worthy Matron, District Grand Matron and Grand Officer of Saskatchewan". She was very active in the operation of the family business and was the Francis News reporter for the Weyburn Review and the Leader Post. Sadie was a member of he Francis United Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and was Treasurer. They retired to Weyburn in 1983, and Art passed away in 1991. Sadie moved to the Weyburn Special Care Home in 2005. The family would like to thank the Weyburn Special Care Home for their excellent care over the past three years. Funeral service was held Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. from Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, with Rev. Barnabas officiating. Interment followed in Tyvan Cemetery. All those present were considered to be honorary pallbearers. The active pallbearers were: Blair Turner, Shawn Turner, Jeff Maguire and Shane Pearce. McDONALD - Neil. On Monday, March 24, 2003, Neil McDonald, late of White Bear Lake, passed away at the age of 75 years. Neil was born and raised at Tyvan. Predeceased by his parents Stanley and Elizabeth (Tully) McDonald. Neil is survived by one son, Aaron (Darlene) of Regina; one daughter, Faith (Todd Sprecken) of Weyburn; three grandchildren, Derek, Brittany, and Tanner McDonald, of Regina; one sister Elaine (Ross) Wightman of Fillmore; one niece Shannon (Gerald) Leas of Fillmore; three great nephews, Tyler, Christopher, Jeremy Leas. Memorial service will be held Monday, April 7 at 11:00 a.m. in Tyvan Hall with Rev. Gary Goran officiating. Interment in Tyvan cemetery. McMILLAN - Hugh "Mick" (August 28, 1935 - June 20, 2013). Mick made his final journey on Thursday, June 20, 2013 with his family by his side. He was born in Regina, and grew up as the third generation on the McMillan family farm near Francis. As a young man, he loved hunting and fishing, and was a great sportsman. He had many stories like hunting moose up North, baseball and hockey tournaments with life-long friends, and trips to Denver. In his 20's, he travelled the province as a herd inspector for the Department of Agriculture. Mick took over the farm after his father's passing in the late 50's, continuing to raise cattle, horses, and his beloved Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. His interest in horses motivated him to become active showing and racing Appaloosas. He was a founding member of the Francis and District Lions Club, the Diamond Rafter Beef Co-Op, and a trustee on the board of the Francis United Church. Mick married Carolyn Halbert (nee Stewart) in 1990, and gained three stepdaughters and their families. Among Carol and Mick's many combined interests, the Saskatchewan Roughriders topped the list, and together they cheered from the same seats that Mick held for 61 seasons. Mick and Carol enjoyed every game during their time together. He was a fixture at local auctions, gun shows, and never drove by a garage sale without stopping. Mick will be remembered with love and laughter by his wife Carolyn; Dolores and Warren Janzen, and children Candice, Dwila, and Ian, Sheila and Bruce Humphrey, and children Eric and Abby, and Caryn Halbert and children Kent, Hunter, and Yzann; daughter Keely; Crystal Mossing-Mascaro and children Sierra and Clay; Corvin Mossing and daughter Miranda; and our wonderful extended family. Albert was predeceased by his parents, John and Annie Merriam; a brother, Gordon and sisters-inlaw: Meda and Helen. Albert will be lovingly missed by his wife of 60 years, Madeleine; one daughter, Gayle (Robert) Bechard of Craven; two sons: Lyle (Debbie) of White City and Steven (Kimberly) of Canora; grandchildren: Robin Bechard, Eugene Bechard, Adam (Tabitha) Merriam, Jennifer Merriam, Eric Merriam, Shayla Merriam and Janayah Merriam; brothers: Ron of Trenton, ON and Cliff (Ellen) of Cobble Hill, BC; sister Shirley (Don) Anslow of Creelman; extended family grandchildren Robert Bechard, Carmen Bechard and Leanne (Mike) Sjodin as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Albert was born the oldest of five children to John and Annie Merriam at Tyvan, SK. On July 21, 1950, Albert married Madeleine Caine. In 1952, Albert and Madeleine came into the employ of Paul Crain of Lewvan, SK on his farm. Albert began working as a hired hand while Madeleine managed Paul's household. In 1972, Paul retired from farming and Albert and Madeleine took over the farmland from Paul. They worked together on the farm, building a thriving enterprise until their retirement. Albert was a hard-working farmer, dedicated to his farm. He took pride in the farm and enjoyed every aspect of it. Albert was also involved in the Mason organization at Francis for 50 years. He achieved the level of Tyler through his many posts and time spent. He enjoyed the monthly meetings and especially enjoyed the Oratory competition held yearly. Albert was an avid curler for his years on the farm. For many years he was the drawmaster for the local Lewvan bonspiel and was involved in the icemaking duties at the rink. At the pinnacle of his curling career, he threw third rocks in the Southern Playdowns for Maurice Howe. Before his retirement, Albert was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Albert and Madeleine relocated to Weyburn to be closer to health care professionals. During his 11 year battle with the disease, he was able to continue to connect with family and friends through his familiar grin and laugh. In the past few weeks, complications from a broken hip accelerated Albert's condition to his demise this past Saturday afternoon. Albert will be lovingly missed by all. A celebration of Albert's life will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 2:00 pm from the Tyvan Community Hall, Tyvan, SK with Rev. John Ferrier officiating. Interment will follow at the Tyvan Cemetery. MILLER - Lloyd Harold. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lloyd Harold Miller of Weyburn, on January 2, 2008, at the age of 69. Lloyd was predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth and Jacob Miller, and one brother Alvin. He leaves to mourn, his wife Marlene and his daughter Angie (Tim) Neuberger of Weyburn. His very special grandchildren, Trace, Ty, Charity, and Noelle Neuberger. Brother Elmer (Ida) Miller of Fort Qu'appelle; sisters Gladys Spina of Montreal, Joyce Miller of Toronto, and Marlene (Wendel) Cook of Regina. Also, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Lloyd Miller was born on March 18, 1938 in the Kipling area. He attended school there and lived on the family farm. Later he went on to work in the nickel mines in Sudbury, Ontario. He gave that up, and returned back to Sask. to become a farmer in the Fillmore area. He farmed for many years, and in 1976 he married Marlene Bennett (Olsen) from Weyburn. They moved to a farm in the Francis area, and Marlene and her daughter Angie were introduced to farm life. They farmed until the spring of 95, and then retired to Weyburn. Lloyd found great pleasure in the simple things in life. He loved farming, and to work the land, and see the fruits of his labour at harvest time, gave him much joy. He spent hours with his grandchildren showing then his love by giving the gift of his time, and he will never be forgotten by them for the memories he created. He also had many friends that he loved going for coffee with, and having a visit. He was a very sociable guy, who enjoyed chatting with anyone, even while taking his dog for a walk. We won't forget that about him; that he always made the time to make someone's life a little better or easier. His family and friends could always count on him for anything. If neighbours or friends needed the garden watered, a driver for an appointment, someone to take care of a pet, they always knew they could count on Lloyd. He was reliable, dependable, trustworthy, and true to his word. He loved animals, and would walk his dog for miles each day. Baking heat, or freezing cold, you could see him out walking his dog. In the spring of 2007 Lloyd went out to Alberta to help his daughter with the children, and prepare for their move back to Sask. He so enjoyed taking the kids to the park, or to the little acreage in the village to see the brown horses. On a trip to Red Deer while in Alberta, he commented it was the most beautiful country he had ever seen. It breaks our hearts that he will not be able to visit there again, but we are grateful for the wonderful time, and the beautiful memories we all have. His heart surgery the end of July was successful, but complications surfaced in the days following the surgery. He was in a minimally conscious state from August 23 until the day of his passing. We continued to believe right up until the end, that he would regain consciousness and have a fairly good quality of life. Maybe because we knew the huge void of not having him in our lives. It will never be the same. He wasn't a wealthy man by society's standards, but through the love of his family and friends he was a very rich man indeed. God knew with a heart of gold like he had, he was too good to be on this earth any longer. We know there must be little kids and pets in heaven that are getting the royal treatment. The gift of time he gave and the sacrifices he made will never be forgotten. We love you papa Lloyd, and thank God for the gift and blessing of you, and for the time we were allowed to have you in our lives. You made such a positive impact on so many. May God Bless you and keep you in His care until we meet again. MITCHELL - Clary Russel Mitchell passed away November 17, 2006 in Regina, SK. He was predeceased by his parents Eva and Talbot Mitchell; brothers (all Veterans) Bruce, Ormand, Rex (RCAF '44), Don, Jim and Grant; sisters-in-law Lottie Mitchell and Rhoda Martin. Clary is survived by his wife, Joan, of 54 years; daughters Sharon (Bill) Clarke, Wendy Mitchell, Shelley (Ken) Kemp; son Darren (Wendy Bradford); grandchildren: Rachelle Clark (Glen Zaran), Russel Clarke, Ryan, Todd, Riley, Alex Kemp; great grandsons: Mackenzie and Connor Zaran; brothers-inlaw Bob (Anna) Farthing, Jim Martin, Maurice (Ethel) Farthing; sisters-in-law Viola, Vera, Jan, June, Barb Mitchell. Clary was born at Tyvan, SK and moved to Weyburn and then to Regina, SK. He was a Corporal in the Royal Canadian Military Core and RSM of the Royal Regina Rifles Militia. Clary was employed for over 34 years with SGI as an adjuster and claims manager. For 45 years, Clary was an active member of St. Luke's Anglican Church. Throughout his life he was a member of many organizations including the Royal Canadian Legion, life member of the Adjusters Assoc., Sask Government Super Annuates, Regina Rifles Assoc. and the Regina Humane Society. Clary enjoyed camping, playing card games including duplicate bridge, dancing, ten-pin bowling, golfing, curling and especially enjoyed his season tickets for forty years to the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He was extremely proud of his family, always supporting them and he deeply valued his friends. Clary spent hours sitting outside talking to his favourite little kids on the block. MITCHELL - Flora Margaret (nee Cameron) passed away December 1st, 2000, at Oliver Lodge, 1405 Faulkner Crescent, Saskatoon, Sask., S7L 3R5, where she has resided for the past four years. Born December 3rd, 1903, near Woodbridge, Ontario, Flora moved with her parents to Saskatchewan in 1912. She grew up on a farm near Francis, attended Normal School in Regina, and taught for several years before her marriage, in 1948, to Stewart "Tooke" Mitchell. Thereafter, she and "Tooke" farmed near Francis until they retired in 1981 and moved to Saskatoon. Predeceased by her parents, Archie and Margaret Cameron; her husband, Stewart; her sisters Janet and Margaret; and her brothers, Archie and Donald; Flora is survived and mourned by her sister, Marion (Ron) Haney; her sister-in-law, Alice (Archie) Cameron; her numerous nieces and nephews and their families as well as many friends and other relatives from Ontario to British Columbia. Flora was a very special person who, from early childhood, spent her life taking care of others. In addition, she enriched the lives of those in her extended family, her school classes, her church and her community wherever she lived. She "mothered" everyone. Flora's family wish to thank all those who, in any way, helped make Flora's increasing difficult life during these last several years a little easier and more enjoyable. On Monday, May 6, 2002, Raymond "Shotgun" Monastersky, late of Weyburn, passed away at the age of 33 years. Predeceased by his grandparents: Mike and Katherine Monastersky and Ferdinand and Theresia Shaeffer; aunts and uncles, and a nephew, Matthew Grona. Raymond is survived by his father, John (Terri) Monastersky and by his mother, Lydia Monastersky of Weyburn; his brothers and sisters: Marvin Monastersky, Bernice (Gary) Grona, Sherry (Keith) Martens, Leonard Monastersky, Bernard Monastersky; nephew, Morgan Grona and niece, Melissa Martens; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and all his special friends and co-workers. Raymond Monastersky or 'Shotgun' as he was known to his friends, was born at the Regina General Hospital on July 19, 1968. He grew up on a farm three miles northeast of Tyvan. Raymond attended Wascana in Regina for three months, and Queen Elizabeth School in Weyburn. He then took classes at the Wor-Kin-Shop in Weyburn learning to build picnic tables, flower pots, etc. He moved to Weyburn 19 years ago and worked at Sarcan full time for 14 years. Shotgun liked to go fishing and ride his bike. He travelled to Alberta by bus every summer and enjoyed watching the Red Wings play hockey. During the Special Olympics, Shotgun played floor hockey. He was a people person, and really enjoyed travelling around with the "Yahoos." He will be missed by all his family, friends and co-workers. The active pallbearers were: Kenny Hill, Larry McKay, Winston Jacobs, Marcel Cancade, Casey Kievits, Todd Neuberger and Miles Schelling. NEW - Vern (V.A.) New, Chief of Police (Ret.) 23 July 1933. It is with great sorrow and fond memories we mark the passage of Vern New after a courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by his father Joseph and mother Lydia, sister Lillian in infancy and brother Raymond, Vern is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Marie, his daughter Belinda and son Preston (Jody) and grandsons Landon and Braedon, sisters Alma New, Eleanor New, Olga Shimming, Ruth Allen, Helen (Lawrence) Sebastian, Marlene (Doug) Aikins and brother Ferdinand (Bernadine) New as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Tyvan, Sask., Vern left the farming community for Regina in 1952, joining the Regina City Police Department on January 8th, 1953 at the rank of Constable. Moving steadily through the ranks, he served in all divisions, culminating on April 21st, 1982 with his appointment as Chief of Police, becoming the first member promoted from within the department to the position. Vern held the rank until his retirement on April 30th, 1985, ending a distinguished and exemplary thirty-two year career of police service. Never one to sit idle for long, he then accepted the challenging position of Corporate Security Manager for Saskatchewan with the Royal Bank of Canada. Upon retirement from the bank in March, 1996, he moved with Marie to the beautiful Qu�Appelle valley where they planned, built and enjoyed a wonderful home which was the scene of many memorable times with family and friends. Over the years, his active participation in the Rotary Club Student Exchange Program saw he and Marie open their home to youth and extended families from around the world. Vern also served for numerous years as a member and Chairman of the CKCK/CKIT Children�s Fund, was a life member of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, an associate member of the RCMP �F� Division Veterans� Association and member of the Disabled Veterans� Association. Throughout his career and his life, Vern will always be remembered for giving his best to everything in which he was involved. He was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather and friend, a man of great wit and integrity - an officer and a gentleman. A service to celebrate Vern's life will be held at the Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, on Thursday, February 8, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Ron Sutton, officiating. ORTMAN - Adolph "Eddy" Peter Ortman passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 23, 2006 at Francis, at the age of 82 years. Prayers were held on Thursday, April 27 and the Funeral Mass was held on April 28 at St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church , Weyburn. Interment followed at Francis Cemetery, Francis, with Father Gerry Bauche, Celebrant. Pallbearers were Ron Szczecinski, Larry Szczecinski, Bill Ortman, Scott Ortman, Dave Seaman and David Katona. Eddy was predeceased by his parents, Julianna and Jacob Ortmann, sisters: Kay Swidrowich and Pauline Dechant, brothers: Charlie, Mike, Jacob and Bob Ortman; brothers in law: Steve Swidrowich, Mike Szczecinski and Pat Whieldon, and sister-in-law, Reine Ortman. Eddy is survived and will be lovingly remembered by his family: brother, Herman (Kaye) Ortman of Weyburn, sisters: Rose Whieldon of Maple Ridge, BC, Gertie (Lloyd) Hala of Vernon, BC, and Anne (Robert) Gutzke of Weyburn, godchildren: Connie McKenzie of Saskatoon, and Debby Price of Devon, AB, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was born May 30, 1923 at Francis. He was raised on the family farm near Francis and was sixth born of 11 children. He worked on the family farm with his brothers and sisters and later at the age of 19 farmed a half section near Francis until the age of 64. He attended Millsdale country school and received grade 11. In earlier years he played guitar with family members, as music was an important in their family. He also curled in the winters and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed playing cards particularly crib. His entire life he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved the outdoors. In later years he enjoyed spending time at Jan Lake. Ortman Bay at Jan Lake was named after him. Eddy was a quiet and gentle man and well liked by family and friends. ORTMAN - Elizabeth late of Regina SK, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2004 at the age of 98 years. Predeceased by her husband Peter in 1979. Elizabeth will be lovingly remembered by her family; daughter Shirley (Graham) Pady; granddaughters Joanne and Elana; sister Lena Grob as well as nieces, nephews, family and friends. Elizabeth immigrated to Canada from Yugoslavia at the age of 22, married at 23 and farmed with her husband at Francis, SK for 44 years. ORTMAN - Jacob "Jake", age 87 of Moose Jaw, passed away Monday, May 15, 2006. Jake was born in Francis, Saskatchewan. He married Carrie in 1938 and together they began farming at Keystown, then purchased a farm 18 miles northeast of Moose Jaw where they raised three daughters. Jake enjoyed his horses, went on numerous wagon trains, and really enjoyed socializing with his friends over a few drinks. He retired from farming in 1967 and moved to Moose Jaw where he was employed by the Health of Animals and later for Vern Brown. Predeceased by his wife, Carrie, Jake is survived by his daughters: Marilyn Ager (Murray), Caroll Doig (Daryl Uhrich), and Linda Leugner (Elton); his grandchildren: Gaylene, Todd, Michelle, Michael, Jolene, Lisa, eight greatgrandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and three sisters. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 19, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Reverend Doug Shepherd will officiate. Interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery. ORTMAN - Mary (nee Szczecinski) Ortman, of Weyburn passed away May 4, 2010, at the age of 89. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles, and infant son, her parents and three older brothers. May is survived by her six children, Rose, Joan, Bill, Greg, David, Louise, and their respective partners, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren as well as numerous extended family. Mom was born on April 1, 1921, on the original homestead at Richmond, Saskatchewan. The family relocated to Hume when she was a small child where she lived until she met and married dad. They started their family life at North Portal where dad was the PFRA Pasture Manager. They eventually purchased land in the Francis area where they lived and farmed until their retirement. Mom was well known for the wonderful turkeys that she raised and sold every fall as well as the egg and cream delivery service offered in the Weyburn area. Mom was involved with the Francis CWL as well as the Francis Homemakers 4-H Club for many years. Mom and dad retired into Weyburn in the mid1990's where mom enjoyed crib tournaments and bingo. Following dad's passing, mom remained living in her home until health issues required a move into the Weyburn Special Care Home. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, May 8, 2010, at St. Vincent De Paul Roman Catholic Church. Interment at Hillcrest Cemetery beside her husband, Charles. PELL - Margaret Christina (nee McIver), aged 87 years, passed away peacefully on December 12th, 2007 at Extendicare Nursing Home in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Margaret was born July 27th, 1920 in the Francis, Sask. area. She took her schooling at Maxville School and finished her high school in Francis. She attended Normal School in Regina receiving her teaching certificate. She retired from Brownlee School after teaching 21 years in various locations in Saskatchewan and one year in The Pas, Manitoba. The majority of her years of teaching were at Brownlee. She spent many happy hours playing cards at the Brownlee Senior's Centre. She also enjoyed her daily walks and waves from friends and travelers. Margaret married the love of her life, Ernie, in 1946 and together they traveled the world and spent many happy hours on the golf courses around Saskatchewan. Predeceased by her husband Ernie; parents Agnes and Donald McIver; brother Murdock McIver; sister Annie Isabelle McIver; a sister in infancy; and a son in law Bill Roy. Her greatest pleasure in life was her family. She took great pride in them and their accomplishments. PUTZ - Dorothy (nee Schiller) Putz. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy (nee Schiller) of Regina, SK on February 11, 2008 at the age of 80 years. Blake was born Sept. 9, 1914 on the home farm at Tyvan, SK. He received his education at Hooverville School. Blake then worked as a rural telephone linesman and helped on the farm. After his father's passing he took over the farm and cared for his mother. He was a member of the Tyvan United Church board and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. Blake sold the farm in 1973 and moved into Indian Head, with his health failing he moved into Lakeside Nursing Home on Jan. 2 1992. He was predeceased by his parents George & Bertha Ranson, his brothers George in infancy, Fred, Stanley, & Harley, sister-inlaw Hazel & brother-in-law Albert Willford. He is survived by his sister Blanche Willford of Blairmore, Alta., & sisters-in-law Phyllis Ranson of Regina and Joyce (Ranson) Mills of Moosomin, as well as nieces & nephews and their families. REDDING - Cyril Allan. It is with great sadness that we announce the tragic death of Allan on July 11, 2008 in the North Forks Valley, Grand Forks, B.C. Allan was born in Fillmore, Sask., to Electa (Bartlett) and Richard Redding. He was raised the youngest of eight in Tyvan and Riceton, Sask. In the mid 70's Allan headed to B.C. where he met his wife of 32 years Patty Davidson. They returned to Sask., where they started their home and family. When the children were young, they moved west to the North Forks Valley, Grand Forks, B.C. and settled there. Allan loved North Forks. He was a dedicated, hard-working man. He loved cool days and the shade, his hunting trips and his truck, old Elizabeth, but most of all being with his family and friends and dogs. His dream was to live one day in Smithers, B.C. Predeceased by his parents Electa and Richard Redding, his father-inlaw Ike Davidson and niece Celene. He will lovingly be remembered by his wife Patty and children Jesse, Jody, Jade (Derrek), his dogs Taz, Magic, and Faith (who was with him at the time of his accident). ROTH - Nicholas. On June 16, 2007, Nicholas Roth of Regina Saskatchewan passed away at the age of 97. Nick Roth was born on March 8, 1910 in the district of Francis. He was educated at the local school in Francis until he attended high school in Tyvan and finished his education at Campion College in Regina. On October 8,1957 he married Alice Dhuez in Regina, SK. Nick farmed in the Francis district until 1973. At this time he retired in Regina where he lived a full and happy life for 50 years. SANHEIM - Rodney passed away tragically Sunday, March 10, 2013 at the age of 57 years. He was predeceased by his father George Sanheim; and his step-father Robert Sanheim. Rodney is survived by his mother Mary Sanheim; daughter Melissa (Leonard) Holmes; brother Gus (Eva) Sanheim; three granddaughters, Keanna, Adrie and Aubrianne; nephews Clint (Carole) Sanheim and Kurtis (Colleen) Sanheim; niece Carlita (Garrett) Wilson; great nephew and niece Cole and Alex. Rodney was born in Regina and grew up in Tyvan and Weyburn, Sask. He lived and worked in Regina in labour, driving truck, and in major appliance service. He loved animals and being with family and always kept in touch with his family and friends. He was always willing and happy to lend a helping hand. SCHIER - Russell Casper Benjamin Schier passed away peacefully on September 3, 2001 at the Mount Pleasant Manor Home at the age of 78 years. Russell was predeceased by his parents Benjamin and Theresia Schier. He leaves to mourn his passing four sisters: Genevieve (Emil) Nikles, Merle Straub, Anne (Stanley) Johnston and Alice (David) Lambrick; as well as many nieces and nephews. He also leaves to mourn his memory his good friend, John Freidt of Calgary, who was his sergeant and ward officer ever since Russell was in the army. Russell was born in Tyvan, SK and educated at Sillersville School. In October of 1942, Russell volunteered to join the Regina Rifle Regiment. He fought in World War II, including Calay, France, Belgium and Germany, and was badly injured twice in battle. After his return to Canada in 1945, he continued to serve as a Corporal in the Japan War and many others. Russell remained in the army until 1967, when he was discharged at the age of 50 years, and he returned back to Calgary, AB. He worked at Mount Royal College until his retirement in 1985. On August 15, 2000, he returned back to Regina, SK to be close to his family, as his health was not good. A service to celebrate Russell's life will be held at the Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, on Thursday, September 6, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. with the Very Rev. Ken Miller, officiating. Interment will take place at Tyvan Cemetery. SCHWINDT - Anne (nee Meyerhoffer) September 25, 1921 - February 21, 2002. It is with great sadness and sorrow that the family announces the sudden passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister and friend. Anne passed away on the morning of Thursday, February 21, 2002 at the age of 80 years. Anne was born in Francis, SK and resided on her parent's farmstead in the Francis/Odessa area attending the Murphy School. Anne worked as a housekeeper for Paul Crane, Norman Chambers and Bill McIver all of which were local farmers. During her employment with Paul Crane she met her loving husband Herbert and were married on October 9, 1943. Anne and Herb thereafter rented farmland in the Lewvan area and subsequently settled in the town of Lewvan, where she also worked at the General Store. In 1980 Anne and Herb relocated to their current farmstead near Lewvan/Colfax. Anne was a wonderful cook, caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who always put the interests and comforts of others before her own and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Interment to take place at a later date. SEAMAN - Jeanie, of Francis, Sask., passed away on November 21, 2000, at Elmview Extendicare at the age of 83 years. Jeanie was born in Norquay, Sask. March 31, 1917. She was raised in this area until she met and married Charles Seaman on December 1, 1943, and moved to the Francis District where they farmed until they retired in Francis in 1973. Predeceased by her loving husband Charles in 1989, parents and all her brothers and sisters. Jeanie leaves to mourn her son Gordon (Shirley); and grandchildren Crystal and Tyler of Regina; and son David (Joanne); and grandchildren Veronica (Perry) of Yorkton and Christa of Regina and three great-grandchildren. SEBASTIAN - Lawrence John Sebastian, of Weyburn, formerly of Regina / Francis, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 18, 2006 at the age of 69 years. He was predeceased by his father Sigmund Sebastian and mother Frances Ziegler; stepfather Jacob Ziegler and a sister and brother in infancy. Lawrence will be sadly missed by his loving wife Helen, of 46 years; sons Kenneth (Connie) Sebastian and Darryl Sebastian; daughters Linda (Doug) Grams and Christy (Jamie) Rabbetz; grandchildren Jason Grams, Kayla Sebastian, Kelsey Grams, Melissa Sebastian and Matthew Rabbetz; sisters Josie (Wayne) Linnen and Louise (Gary) Linnen and brother Joe (Sherry) Ziegler as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Lawrence and Helen farmed near Francis from 1957 to 1981, and then operated a horse boarding/training stable near Regina for 12 years. Lawrence retired in 2001 and spent many wonderful hours with his beloved coffee buddies, traveling to farm sales, tending to his small farm animals and birds and restoring old farm tractors. A funeral service was held at Zion Lutheran Church, Weyburn, on Wednesday, June 21, at 1:00 p.m. Interment followed at the Tyvan Cemetery. SHIMMING - Olga Evelyn (nee Neu) was born May 31, 1927 at Tyvan, SK and passed away at Regina, SK on Saturday, October 21, 2006, after a lengthy but very courageous battle with cancer. Olga is survived by her beloved son Bryon (Debbie); sisters Alma and Eleanor of Regina, SK, Ruth Allan of Creelman SK, Helen Sebastian of Weyburn, SK and Marlene (Doug) Aikins of Surrey, BC; brother Fernie (Bernie)of Regina; and sister-in-law Marie of Regina; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by Bryon's father Bill; parents Joseph and Lydia; infant sister Lillian; and brothers Ray and Vern. In 1942, Olga's dream to become a hairdresser became a reality. She then moved to Winnipeg and married Bill. In 1947, they moved to Vancouver and then into the Okanagan Valley, where hairdressing schools and salons were opened in both Vernon and Kamloops, BC. They remained there until 1965. Wanting to return to Regina, she sold her businesses and purchased the Golden Mile Beauty Salon, which she co-owned and operated until 1982. Olga continued her career from her home until 1998 when failing eyesight forced her to retire. Olga loved to cook and entertain family and friends. The bigger the crowd the better she liked it. Her home was always open to anyone and became the scene of many fun and memorable times. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at both the Pasqua Hospital Palliative Care Unit and the Wascana Hospice. At Olga's request, no funeral service will take place. An INURNMENT committal service will be conducted at a later date at the Tyvan Cemetery, Tyvan, SK with family and friends present. Pastor Lindsay Hognestad officiating. SKIBA - Simon was born to Joseph and Josephine Skiba in Cupar on April 3, 1923. Simon was the middle child, having an older brother, Stanley, and a younger sister, Edith. In 1928 the family moved from Cupar to Tyvan, purchasing a half section of land now owned by the PFRA Community Pasture. During the depression, they were unable to maintain the payments on the land, and as a result lost the land, forcing a move in 1936. The family moved a few miles away, down the road to Osage and rented land from Porter Land Company. Today, this land is home to the Fred Paslawski family. In the early 1940�s they purchased a section of land south west of Osage, which Simon took over when his parents moved off the farm in the fall of 1953. This same land is where Simon and Nellie farmed until their retirement. Simon married Nellie Bonk on August 29, 1953, and had five children; they started their family with a set of twins, Allen and Simon. Simon passed away shortly after birth. They continued to add to their family with the additions of Paul, Frank and Mary Anne. Simon and Nellie were further blessed with 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, and now we will have a total of 34 of us at our family gatherings. Simon and Nellie farmed at Osage from the time Simon took over the farm in 1953. They ran a mixed farm, mainly sowing wheat, durum, barley and oats. They raised cows, pigs, chickens and laying hens, to add to the farm income when they sold the cream to the creamery, butchered and sold pigs and chickens and sold eggs. They also had a few horses � mainly Shetland ponies, and of course they always had dogs and cats on the farm. Simon and Nellie worked as a team on the farm � whether it was working with the animals, or during haying or harvest times, sometimes working around the clock to get all the work done. Simon and Johnny Schaeffer also helped each other out through their farming years, having bought various pieces of equipment on partnership, and helping with various jobs around the farm � whether it was putting a furnace in or bringing in running water for the first time, adding a porch or completing a renovation, Simon and Johnny were there for each other. Simon and Nellie retired to Weyburn in 1991 where they bought a house and grew a garden that made the neighbours jealous. They maintained their house and yard on their own until their move to Bison Manor in February of 2011. During their years on the farm or in town, Dad did many jobs and renovations on his own, but if Dad was in a bind, nephew Randy would always be there to lend a hand with any job. Dad also enjoyed the many times Randy would stop in for a visit and a coffee. Dad also took the time to enjoy a few hobbies � he especially enjoyed curling, belonging to the Osage Mixed Curling League and attending various community bonspiels. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a member of the West Osage Gun Club helping out whenever he was able. He also took the time to spend a few hours at the Fillmore bar. I can give you some history on Simon and how he made his life journey, but that doesn�t describe who Simon really was, or how he lived his life. So I asked the grandkids for some help in describing Grandpa: Grandpa was creative � which was demonstrated on a regular basis � as he was a skilled handyman; he had no problem making his creative thoughts a reality. Whether it was organizing his extension cords for his Christmas decorations so that he could turn all lights on or off with one flip of a switch, or MacGyvering an interchangeable basket on his scooter, whatever he envisioned � he put his hands together and created. We aren�t 100% sure his inventions always met code, but we do know they got the job done. He was full of life and energy � Grandpa took every opportunity to have fun, share a laugh and hopefully share a dance as well. When they had their accident back in 2010, while Dad was disappointed about the accident and the damage to the vehicle, he was more upset over the fact he didn�t get to Osage to have a dance! He loved to dance, having danced at both of his granddaughters� weddings this past August and September. Dad loved his polka music, and never thought twice about hitting the dance floor. Grandpa was reflective � which can be interpreted in two ways � through his many stories he had to tell about what happened years or ago, or just a few days ago, or with his love for reflectors, which were attached to anything and everything � that moved, or didn�t move. Grandpa enjoyed his beer � and would share a beer with you at every visit � and always had wine for his girls � beer for the boys and wine for the girls. No one left Grandpa�s home thirsty. Grandpa�s little shuffle walk. As Dad got older, his strides became shorter and slowly became more of a shuffle. Now some may think that when you get to the state of shuffling, it would be a slow shuffle. Not Grandpa � when he got up to move � you better get out of his way, as he was going � I�m surprised that there weren�t sparks coming off the back of his shoes as he shuffled along. Grandpa was always happy. He didn�t need much to make him happy � but he was always happy. When his kids were young, the spent time picking berries together, and an annual beach day at Nickle Lake was always enjoyable. He also enjoyed all of his lawn ornaments when they lived on Hill Avenue, displaying them from spring through to fall, and ensuring that each of them had a proper winter home. His friends and coffee buddies at the various coffee shops made him happy, and I�m sure he brought a smile to their faces as well with his many stories. He made various coffee shops his home for his morning coffee � his ability to travel determining what coffee shop would be his stop � he frequented Pappa Jacks for many years and lately made the Co-op his second home. He was striving to get a set of keys from the Co-op � he was always the first one there � and felt he could open the store. Grandpa was fun loving and always enjoyed a good chuckle. He was very proud of the handmade crank he received from his nephew Ed that Uncle Simon was to use to crank start his Buick he had recently purchased. Ed and Dad had a special relationship � taking turns making their yearly birthday phone calls, and Ed and Audrey always taking the time for a yearly trip to stop in for a visit with Uncle Zigmond and Auntie Anetka, and their yearly fill of KFC � whether they needed it or not. Grandpa answered to many different names over the years � Simon, Dad, Grandpa and some more endearing ones � Poppa Bear, which stuck with him since the 1970�s CB era. Grandpa enjoyed watching various sports on TV. Many times when we came to visit, the TV would be playing some sporting event. He especially enjoyed cheering on the Blue Jays. But most of all Grandpa had pride � he was proud of his accomplishments � which we reminisced each time they moved when we packed his various curling trophies. He was proud of his possessions � the latest being his scooter � no one could come to visit him without going and seeing his scooter or learning about his latest modification he made to his scooter. But most of all he was proud of his family � of each and every one of his children, and each and every one of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. We were very fortunate that Dad was not plagued with many illnesses or mishaps over the years. He had a heart attack in 1992, a stroke in 1999 and broke his hip in 2009. Dad took the opportunity to live every day to the fullest � if he came upon an obstacle, he didn�t let that stop him � he figured out how to overcome and carried on. Dad truly lived until he died. Dad and Mom came up to Regina on December 29, and we celebrated Christmas with as many of the Skiba clan that could join. We had lots of fun and laughs. Dad didn�t complain about anything, besides the fact he needed two hands to drink his beer. But he was still able to enjoy his beer. So his sudden passing came as a surprise to all of us. SLOMAN - Cecilia Marie (nee Carignen). On Wednesday, August 22, 2007, Cecilia Sloman passed away at Fillmore Health Centre at the age of 56 years. Cecila was predeceased by her father, Leo Carignen, stepfather, Alec Legault and by her husband, Willie Sloman. Cecilia will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Stacy and Tina Sloman; her mother, Therese Legault; brothers-in-law: George Sloman, Robert (Kate) Sloman and Wesley (Barbara) Sloman; sisters-in-law: Elsie Postey, Mildred Ballard, Shirley Sloman and Loren Young; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Cecilia Sloman was born November 12, 1951 in Regina. She was raised at Pontiex, graduated and moved to Regina where she continued her education. She started her career at CMHC, met and married Willie Sloman and moved to Tyvan. There she lived out her married life and raised her family. Cecilia convocated as a Chartered Management Accountant in 1989, and trained as a Financial Investment Councillor. She was employed with Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. and was recognized for 25 years of service in 1997. She also worked part time at the Royal Bank in Francis. Cecilia enjoyed reading, educational advancement, curling, crocheting, puzzles and was a football fan. She was a member of CWL and was actively involved in the church. Cecilia was on the Tyvan Community Hall Board, a member of the Ladies Legion Auxilliary #47 in Weyburn, on the Tyvan Homecoming Planning committee in 2005, Tyvan Senior Club, The Francis and District Dance Club and Fillmore Skating Club. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by all she knew and loved. SLOMAN - Wilbert (Willie) Glen Sloman, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 28, 2006 in the Fillmore Health Centre. He was born in Kincaid, Sask. on July 30, 1936. Predeceased by his parents, Earl and Christina Sloman of Aneroid, brother Donald and niece Patricia Postey. STAR - Anna (nee Ortman) Schadlich Townsend McFarlane Horton Star, a resident of the Swan Valley Lodge at Creston, BC, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2001 in her 86th year. Anna is survived by her five children: Robert (Ruth) Schadlich, Cranbrook, BC; Isabel (Carl) Eisler, Calgary, AB; Dennis (Shelley) Schadlich, Strathmore, AB; Doreen (Harvey) Cutting, Saskatoon, SK; David (Faith) Schadlich, Rockyford, AB, fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother; Jacob (Carrie) Ortman; four sisters; Betty Maze, Kay Schuck, Lee (Paul) Froelich, Mary Svenson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Anna was predeceased by her parents Michael and Katherine Ortman; a brother Conrad, a sister Sabina and two infant brothers, Michael and Jacob. She was born July 4, 1915, at Francis, SK. She was married to Christopher Schadlich in 1936 and together they had five children. After her husband's death in 1953, she remained on the family farm at Disley SK with her children until 1961. She then moved to Regina and in 1964 she married Len Townsend. Len died in 1965. In 1966 she married John McFarlane and together they owned and operated a small real estate company. In 1975 they moved to Strathmore, AB where, with the help of their children and grandchildren, they built their dream home. John died in 1977. In 1978 she married Spencer Horton. She sold her home in Strathmore in 1980 and they moved to Creston BC, where she spent her remaining years. She was divorced from Spencer in 1982 and married William Star in 1993. William died on May 1, 2001. Anna lived a full and happy life. She was an avid gardener and amateur horticulturist and left her mark wherever she lived. Her grandchildren will always remember her as the "world's greatest" granny. Visitation will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel at 2136 College Avenue in Regina on Thursday June 21 starting at 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in Lumsden at the United Church at 1:00pm on Friday, June 22, 2001 with interment to follow at the Lumsden Cemetery. STEWART - Evelyn May (nee Houston). It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of a dear wife, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend. On September 20, 2003, Evelyn passed away at the Regina General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Hugh, sister, Betty Fraser, Swift Current; brother, Robert (Loriane) Houston, Red Deer, AB, and their families and several in-laws and their families. Evelyn was predeceased by her father, James in 1970, mother, Clara (Admiraal) in 1997, sister Helen Pachkowski in 1975, mother- and father-in-law, Jean and Hugh Sr. Stewart, five brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law. Evelyn was born in Regina on July 29, 1932. Her family moved to Swift Current in 1939 where she attended school and went on to Normal School in Moose Jaw. She graduated in 1952 and taught in Pennant. In 1957, Evelyn married Hugh Stewart and in 1962 they moved to Francis where they have resided ever since. Evelyn had a busy and rewarding life. She was active in 4-H as a general leader and sewing and cooking instructor for over 40 years. She was also a school teacher, Sunday school teacher and superintendent, treasurer of the UCW and the Francis United Church for many years. She loved to skate, dance, garden, play the organ and piano and loved to play cards. During their marriage, Evelyn and Hugh traveled to Europe four times and took trips to B.C., Alberta and down east where they visited relatives and old friends and and made many new friends along the way. A memorial service will be held in the Francis United Church on Saturday, September 27 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Des Patton officiating. STEWART - Hugh, Francis, SK. On October 31, 2008, Hugh Stewart died at the age of 83 years, following a short battle with cancer. At Hugh's request there will be no funeral service. Hugh was born on December 25, 1924 on a farm in Bechard, Sask. The family moved to the Francis district in 1932. Hugh attended and graduated from the Francis School in 1943 and enlisted in the R.C.A.F. where he trained as a wireless mechanic. At the close of the war Hugh was discharged in 1946. In 1947 he attended the University of Saskatchewan enrolled in the College of Education. Hugh began his teaching career at Pennant in 1952. It was there he met his future wife, Evelyn Houston, who was also a teacher at the Pennant school. They were married in July 1957 and in 1962 moved to Francis where they both taught at the Francis School. In 1974 Hugh had a career change where he worked for 15 years with Sask-tel. Hugh retired in 1989 and in the following years Hugh and Evelyn traveled in Canada and abroad. Hugh moved to Swift Current in 2006 where he resided until moving back to Francis this past July. Hugh was predeceased by his wife Evelyn, his parents Hugh and Jean Stewart, three brothers, Harry Irvine, Gordon and Jack Stewart and one sister, Jean McClinton. And brothers-in-law, Arnold Sletten, Arthur Karras, James Anderson, James Fraser, Don McClinton and Jack Keeler; and sisters-in-law, Helen Pachkowski, Irene Stewart, Margaret Irvine and Georgie Irvine and his mother-in-law and father-inlaw, Clara and James Houston, and nephews James Irvine and Calvin Sletten. Hugh is survived by his three sisters, Effie Karras, Mary Keeler and Rose Anderson, his brother James Stewart, his sisters-inlaw, Margaret Stewart and Betty Fraser, his brothers-in-law, Robert (Lorraine) Houston and Chuck (Eileen) Pachkowski. Hugh will be greatly missed by his surviving family members and numerous nieces and nephews and his many friends. He touched many lives on his journey through this life. THOMPSON - Robert Alton Thompson, late of Fillmore formerly of Tyvan, passed away at the Fillmore Health Centre on August 27, 2009, just days short of his 96th birthday. Alton was born in Francis and spent his entire life farming in Tyvan, with the exception of time spent in the Canadian Army during World War II. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Anna; one sister, Gertrude and three brothers, Obed, Clinton and Roy. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Joan as well as two nephews in North Carolina. Interment was held at the family plot in Tyvan Cemetery, Tyvan. TRUEMAN - Norman Trueman late of Weyburn, SK, formerly of Montmartre, passed away on April 5, 2011 at the age of 87 years. He was predeceased by his wife Gertrude, and infant son, Norman; his parents Ray and Myrtle Trueman; his brother Lorne (Beatrice) Trueman, sister Gladys (George) Munroe, sister Doris (Cyril) Mellor, his sisters and brothers-in-law; Rose and Larry Stoppler, Anne and Joseph Marte, Eva and Bill Parker, Jacob and Christine Knoll, Adam Ziegler, Edward Ziegler, Frank Ziegler, and Irene Ziegler. Norman was born in Francis, SK and farmed there with Gertie until 1964 when they sold their Francis farm and moved to their new farm near Montmartre. Weisberg will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Middle Lake on Monday May 30 at 2:00 p.m. Eric was born October 11, 1924 on his parent's farm situated between Odessa and Francis, Saskatchewan. The family expanded to include four other siblings: Ruth, Harry, Gary, and Esther. He grew up working on the farm, where his love of nature developed. His love of studies led him to Luther College in Regina. A few years after graduation, he started a farm machinery business, which he ran for 6 years before selling it to attend the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. Eric and Linda were married in 1956. They had four children: Ruth, John, Fred, and Beth. Eric attended the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Saskatoon, and served as student pastor at Hodgeville and North Battleford. After his ordination in 1959, he served at Togo-Runnymede, Wapella-Kipling, Rush Lake-Herbert-Morse, Eatonia-Laporte, and finally at Nipawin-Choiceland parish. Following retirement in 1989, he also served as supply pastor at Melfort and MistatimHudson Bay. Eric was predeceased by his parents, his sister Esther, brother Harry and his wife Henny, and Linda's sister Lorraine and her husband Bill Kirsch. He died peacefully on May 25, 2011 at Bethany Pioneer Village in Middle Lake, Saskatchewan. Remembering Eric are: siblings Ruth and Gary, daughters-in-law Dawn and Kim, son-in-law John, grandchildren Elisabeth, Christina, Max and Merrick, great-grandchildren Lucas and Sierra as well as in-laws Henk, Miriam, Orville, Ella, Emma and Rudy and many nieces and nephews. WEST - Martha Eves (nee Tilt), late of Pioneer Village, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2006 at the age of 96 years, with her family at her side. She was predeceased by her husband Clifford in 1986; her daughter Dorothy in 1991; her son Charlie in November 2005; son-in-law Sieg Wirll; three sisters and one brother. She is survived by her sons: Ernie (Elinore), Harold (Irene), Dave (Rosa), Norman (Barb) and special daughter-in-law Mary, all of Regina. Martha married Clifford in 1929 and they farmed in the Mutrie, Tyvan and Francis districts from 1929 1965, when they retired to Regina. She was an active member in the Rebekah Lodge 123. Ross was born in Davidson, Sask. on February 22, 1924 and passed away September 16, 2004 at Regina General Hospital. He spent his early years in Craik, then the family moved to Francis, where he attended school, then joined the R.C.A.F. and later the Merchant Marines. After leaving the services he married Elaine McDonald. Ross and Elaine farmed at Tyvan for 13 years and moved to Fillmore where they have since resided. Ross was active in the Royal Canadian Legion, the Lions Club and various other community organizations over the years. Although ill health prevented active participation his love of the land and farming never faded. Predeceased by his parents, Addison and Lulu; brothers Carl (Lily), Kenneth (Mary), Lee (Violet), Glen (Ruby), Albert, Ralph; sisters Frances (Walter), Ruth, Alice (Merle) and Helen. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elaine; daughter Shannon (Gerald) Leas; grandsons Tyler, Chris and Jeremy; sisters-in-law Beryl Wightman and Gladys Wightman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. WILLFORD - Blanche (nee Ranson) Willford June 23, 1906 - May 23, 2010. Blanche Willford passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at the Crowsnest Pass Long Term Care Centre at the age of 103 years. Blanche was born at her family home near Tyvan, SK, the third child of George and Bertha Ranson. After attending school at Hooverville, Balmoral and Moose Jaw Normal School, Blanche pursued her chosen career as a teacher, a role she loved, as many former students will confirm. In 1932 Blanche came to Coronach, SK to teach and this is where she met and married Albert Willford in 1933. Together they farmed at Birch Hills, SK, and in the Coronach area until they retired. Following Albert's death in 1983, Blanche remained in Coronach, enjoying her home, yard, family, friends and her church. In 1986 Blanche moved to Calgary to be near her daughter Faye and family. She moved to the Pincher Creek area in 1999 and resided at the York Creek Lodge until 2005 when she moved to the Care Centre in Blairmore, AB, where she resided until her passing. She was predeceased by; her parents George and Bertha Ranson, her 5 brothers; Harley, George William in infancy, Stanley, Fred and Blake and her husband of 50 years Albert. Blanche is survived by a son, James (Elaine) Willford and a daughter Faye (Keith) Dawson; 4 grandchildren, Cindy Kessler, Orin, Trent and Kevin Dawson; 4 great-grandchildren, Ryan, Shane (Miranda) and Shanisse Dawson, Cailin (Ashley) Kessler; 2 great-great-grandchildren, James Kessler and Ethan Dawson, 1 sister-inlaw Phyllis Ranson as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She has been steadfast in her role as mother, wife and grandmother, a strong supporter of her community, church, neighbours and friends. Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Evelyn E. Woods passed away peacefully at the Pasqua Hospital on Friday, February 11, 2005. WRIGHT - Ivan G. "Bud" Wright. On December 7, 2004, Ivan G. Wright, late of Regina, SK, passed away at the age of 74 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Louise and Edmund Wright; six sisters, Florence, Margaret, Jean, Alice, Gladys, Phyllis; and one brother, Norman. He is survived by his sister, Jacquelin and many nephews and nieces. Ivan was educated at the Tyvan Public School, Moose Jaw Normal School and the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. He was always an Honours Student and upon graduation in 1956 from the U of S, he received the Governor General's Gold Medal as the outstanding graduate. He began his teaching career in a rural school north of Fillmore, SK. The following year when he was only 18, he was appointed Principal of Goodwater School District. Although he spent only four years in Goodwater, he made many life-long friends, and often spoke fondly of the times he spent in that community. In 1956 he was employed by the Regina Public School District and remained with that board until his retirement in 1982. He served as a teacher, Department Head, Vice-Principal and various administrative positions at the Central Office. At Ivan's request, there will not be a memorial service. She will be remembered lovingly by her daughters Mardi Antonini of Regina and Shelley (Tom) Thomas of Cudworth, grandson Michael (Shelley) Thomas and great granddaughter Peyton of Martensville and grandson Kelly Thomas of Saskatoon, brother Keith Paul of Weyburn, brothers-in-law George and Jim Yates of Winnipeg and numerous nephews and nieces. Vaughan was predeceased by her husband Robert in 1996, her parents Moses and Christine Paul, two brothers and six sisters. Vaughan was born in Kisbey, SK., May 11, 1918. Her early years were spent in Tyvan and Kisbey and she was in training at the Saskatchewan Hospital in Weyburn until she joined the R.C.A.F. in 1942. While stationed in St. Thomas, ON. she met Bob and they married in 1943. In late 1945, they moved to Winnipeg where Bob resumed his work with the CNR. In 1956 they transferred to Saskatoon. Vaughan worked as a Food Supervisor at RUH for 12 years. She was a founding member of the Saskatchewan Food Supervisors Association. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Nutana Lioness. Vaughan and Bob enjoyed traveling and did so extensively. Vaughan also enjoyed oil painting, needlepoint and other crafts. Just two days before her sudden passing, Vaughan was delighted to be a part of her six month old great granddaughter's first Christmas. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. Interment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. ZIEGLER - Adam Ziegler (February 25, 1926 - July 21, 2009). With saddened hearts we say goodbye to our dear husband, father, grandfather and friend. Adam passed away peacefully on the morning of July 21st surrounded by his loving family. Adam was born and raised in the Francis area. He married Anna Fink and together they raised 7 children. Adam was a hard working farmer who found enjoyment in socializing with family and friends. In his later years some of Adam's greatest joys included teasing his kids and grandchildren, many hands of crib, good whistling tunes, feeding his birds and going fishing. ZIEGLER - Frances of Regina, SK. formerly of Odessa / Tyvan, SK. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at the age of 87. He loved music and sang in the Regina Male Voice Choir for 57 years, was a 53 year founding member of the Regina Coin Club, was an avid Roughrider fan and he enjoyed gardening and metal detecting. He enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and had a smile for everyone.
