AASEN - Christena May (nee MacMillan) Aasen passed peacefully on November 5, 2004 in Weyburn. She will be lovingly remembered by her beloved husband Kenneth whom she shared 60 wonderful years; daughter Gaylene (Murray) Johnston, Saskatoon and their children, Kjell (Cara Ann), Kara Rae; son Murray (Shelly), Comox, BC, and their children Jeremy, Kristin, Sarah, Jordan, Amber, Ryan and Brandon; son Kevin (Doris), Weyburn and their children, Dustin (Janelle), Nykolas, and Kayla. Sister-in-law Grace MacMillan, brother-in-law Leonard (Rosemarie) Gunstenson, and nieces and nephews. Christena is predeceased by her parents, John Alban (1956) and Sarah (1958) MacMillan, her sister Irene Gunstenson (1980), brother Allan MacMillan (1994), nephew Robert MacMillan (1970) and her grandson Dr. Kirk Johnston (1994). She was born in Colfax on May 24, 1922 and lived there until she attended Teacher's College in Regina. Christena taught at Tyvan (Sillersville School), Lewvan (Gough School) and Colfax. On September 9, 1944 she married her best friend and soul mate Kenneth C. Aasen and they farmed together for 60 years. Throughout the years, Christena was always very involved in community efforts, sporting events, school board, church groups and was the secretary-treasurer of Lewvan United Church for 30 years. During the winter months they enjoyed their home in Weyburn where she became involved with the Weyburn Retired Teachers' Association and is a life-member of the Weyburn Curling Club. Christena embraced life with love, fun and laughter enjoying special times with her family and friends. Christena's love for farming (especially harvest), crossword puzzles, curling, reading, gardening, traveling and nature enriched her life. As a wife, mother, teacher, and grandmother her deep faith in the Lord and positive attitude inspired us with her nurturing and loving spirit and we now entrust her to God's keeping. A celebration of Christena's life was held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, November 8 from Grace United Church, Weyburn, with Rev. Gary Goran officiating. Interment took place at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 9 at Regina Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Christus, Regina. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Rev. Gary Goran, Rev. Des Patton, Rev. Ross McMurtry, and Fr. Norm Marcotte for their prayers and support; Dr. R. Cameron, Dr. J. Kuzmicz, Dr. Mary McCollam and Dr. P. Ken is predeceased by his wife, Christena (2004), parents Regine (Trondson) (1923) and Thore (1944) Aasen, his sister-in-law Irene Gunstenson (1980), brother-in-law Allan MacMillan (1944), nephew Robert MacMillan (1970), and his grandson Dr. Kirk Johnston (1994). He was born in Regina on October 13, 1920 and lived on the farm at Lewvan. On September 9, 1944 he married his best friend and soulmate Christena M. MacMillan, and they farmed together for 60 years. Christena was the love of his life and their love could never be measured. They spent countless hours enjoying the pleasures that farm life brought. Throughout the years, Ken was always involved in community efforts, sporting events, and the Lewvan United Church Groups. After the crop was in the bin, they retired to their Weyburn home and immediately began their involvement with the Weyburn Curling Club. Ken had many passions including tinkering and inventing in his shop, traveling, but the one he continued to enjoy were his long walks. As a husband, father and grandfather, his deep faith in the Lord and encouraging attitude inspired us with his nurturing and loving spirit and we now entrust him to God's keeping. A Celebration of Ken's Life was held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 9 at Grace United Church, Weyburn with Rev. Hazel Arbon officiating. Interment took place at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, September 12 at Regina Memorial Gardens in the Garden at Christus. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Rev. Hazel Arbon, Rev. Dez Patton and Rev. ABELLO - Joseph Lawrence Abello passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 9th, 2011, at the age of 84 years. Joe is survived by his wife, Blanche; his stepchildren Laurie (Greg) Yuzwa, Carole (Brian) Spooner, Ken (Corinne) Pereyma and Kathy (Robin) Butler.; sister Giacinta; brothers Father Lawrence S.J., in India, Tony, Father Louis, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Joe was predeceased by his parents, John and Lucy Abello, and two brothers in infancy. Joe was born on May 29th, 1926 on the farm near Lewvan, Sask, where he farmed most of his life. He attended Gough School in the Lewvan district and St. Anthony's College in Edmonton, Alberta. Joe obtained his journeyman papers in carpentry in 1962. Joe persevered through many health problems while he farmed for over 50 years with his brother Tony. Joe retired in Sedley, Sask. where he enjoyed visiting, church activities and photography. Family, friends and the Church were very important to Joe, and he kept in touch with relatives in Italy and France. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Louis Abello on Saturday, February 12th, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church in Sedley, Sask. ACHTER - Erma. Suddenly on June 26, 2007, Erma Achter, longtime resident of Regina, Sask. passed away at the Pasqua Hospital at the age of 82 years. Erma was born on September 2, 1924 in St. Boswell's, Sask. On December 17, 1939 she married Gerhard Achter and they farmed in the Aneroid, Hazenmore and Cedoux districts, before moving to Regina. Erma enjoyed her later years, loved spending time with her family and enjoyed her many friends at Cedar Manor. She was predeceased by her husband Gerhard (2003), daughter Eileen Achter, son Ronald Achter, son-in-law Ken Gropp and granddaughter Deborah Gropp. Erma is survived by six children: Marilyn Gropp of Regina, Sk., Gordon (Betty) of Ottawa, Ont., Donald of Edson, Alta., Allan (Joan) Dale, and Shelly (Allan) Carton, all of Regina, Sask., daughter-in-law Dorothy Achter of Surrey, BC, 14 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, three sisters: Helen (Gus) Bauder and Carrie Howard of Oliver, B.C. and Leota (Muroude) Shirley of Kamloops, B.C., numerous nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Aneroid Cemetery, Sam Hawkins will preside. Interment of the ashes will follow. ACHTER - Gerhard Gar. On November 19, 2003 Gerhard Gar Achter, passed away peacefully at the Santa Maria Nursing Home, Regina at the age of 91 years. Gar enjoyed farming in the Aneroid, Hazenmore and Cedoux districts and then did plumbing with Queen Real Estate in Regina for 21 years. He liked to be busy, worked hard and was a dedicated family man. His greatest joy was his grandchildren and great grandchildren and he spent a lot of time with them. Gar is survived by his beloved wife Erma of Regina, Sask.; 7 children: Marilyn (Ken) Gropp of Regina, Sask., Gordon (Betty) of Ottawa, Ont., Ronald (Dorothy) of Surrey, B.C., Donald of Edson, Alta. and Allan (Joan) of Lumsden, Sask., Dale of Lumsden, Sask. and Shelly (Allan) Carton of Regina, Sask., 15 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, one brother: Art (Alice) of Hazenmore, Sask., two sisters: Freida Cruickshank of Regina, Sask. and Edith Achter of Regina, Sask., three sisters-inlaw: Marianne Achter of Calgary, Alta., Katie Achter of Regina, Sask. and Martha Achter of Kelowna, B.C., numerous nieces and nephews. AIKINS - Eileen Lois (nee Oliver) Borys Aikens, late of Regina, SK, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2007. Eileen was born in Colfax, SK on July 20, 1924 to Ida Oliver (Daly) (1970) and Frank Oliver (1979). She was predeceased by her first husband Dominic Lorne Borys (1976) and second husband Wilf Aikins (1996). Eileen is survived by her daughter Darlene (Don) Runge of Priddis, AB and grandsons Vern of Camrose, AB and Lorne of Priddis, AB; and son Wayne (Sue) Borys of Katepwa Beach, SK and grandchildren Daniel of Victoria, BC, Lisa of Halifax, NS and Gillian of Regina, SK. Eileen was a long time member of LAPM, Fellowship Rebekah Lodge and a Life Member of Territorial 49ers. She loved and taught ceramics for 20 years. ANDREWS - Evelynne (nee Buech), late of Weyburn and formerly of Colfax, passed away peacefully April 10, 2012. She was predeceased by her husband, Steven in 2004; parents, Joseph and Theresa Busch; brothers, Valentine and Joseph; sisters, Mary Kaulk, Betty Tourigny, Theresa Dash and Catherine Klassen. Evelynne is survived by her children: son, Jerry (Dorothy) Andrews; daughters, Marlene (Bernie) Dreher and Eunice (Bob) Trent; as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Frank Dash and numerous nieces and nephews. Evelynne grew up in the Colfax area where she met and married the love of her life, Steve. They were married 70 years and farmed in the Colfax area of 40 years - retiring to Weyburn in 1977. In her earlier years she enjoyed sewing, knitting, cooking for company who dropped in, dancing and travelling. Everywhere they lived a beautiful yard could be found as they both enjoyed gardening and Evelynne loved her flowers. She was active in the Catholic Women�s League and North Weyburn Home Makers after moving to Weyburn. In later years she enjoyed the residents and staff of Parkway Lodge and lastly, Tatagwa View, House 11. The family wishes to thank the staff at Parkway Lodge and Tatagwa View for their care and House 11 for their compassion shown to Evelynne. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 6:00 PM at Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, Saskatchewan and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 10:30 AM from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn, Saskatchewan. Father Gerry Bauche will preside at both services. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn, SK ANDREWS - Joseph Andrews passed away peacefully at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre in Regina on December 10, 2004, at the age of 84. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Shirley, his parents, four brothers and five sisters. He will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his daughter Barbara Andrews, special granddaughter Jennifer Andrews, sisters Rose McCombs, Vicky (Neil) Wallace and Anne ( Allan) Kyle. Joe loved being outside puttering around in his garden, fixing anything mechanical that was broken, helping out neighbours in the Colfax Community with their farming operations, spending time with his granddaughter Jennifer and sharing his stories about being in the army overseas during WW II, and his 27 years working at the Regina Correctional Centre. In keeping with the wishes of Joe there will be no funeral service. Interment will be held at a later date in the Colfax Cemetery. ARNDT - Adeline Elfrieda. On Monday, February 8, 1999 Adeline Elfrieda Arndt, late of Yellow Grass passed away at the age of 83 years. Predeceased by her parents, Adolph and Augusta Arndt; and one sister, Elsie Thomason. She leaves to mourn two brothers: William (Cathereen) Arndt of Pearson, MB and Edward Arndt of Yellow Grass; one sister, Lily Hockley of Weyburn; two nieces in Mobile, Alabama and West Palm Beach, Florida; as well as many other nieces and nephews in Canada. Adeline was born in the Colfax district, third child to Adolph and Augusta (nee Buchholz). Her early education came from the country schools of Sunny Dale, High Hill and Dawn View, SD. By funds saved through domestic work she was able to finish high school at the Regina Luther College. Her first love was a career in nursing but the road seemed too long and hard so her second choice was to take a secretarial course at Paragon Business School in Regina. Like the rest of the family, Adeline loved music, playing piano and singing together in harmony. She was a life-long learner, and loved to read. During the war years, Adeline worked as secretary for the air force division in Ottawa, and the American consulate in Washington, DC. After the war she worked in the film industry in Toronto, before returning to Sask. to work in the Weyburn Mental Hospital. Adeline closed out her career with positions in Regina, first with the P.F.R.A. and then with Immigration Canada until retirement. Her effectiveness, versatility, and efficiency enabled her to follow many opportunities throughout her career. Adeline settled back in Lang for her retirement, where she served as secretary for the Ladies Aid in the church of her baptism and confirmation. She contributed her musical talents as well, which showed in her ability to sing alto to any song, and to play the Hawaiian guitar, violin, piano and organ by ear or with notes. She travelled widely, going to visit the war zones of Europe, taking a cruise through the Panama Canal, and seeing most of the U.S.A. Her favorite place was Alaska. Adeline will be missed for her artistic talent in cake decorating, baking and decorating cakes for many a bride, birthday or anniversary. Taking a course in decorating at Minneapolis, Minn., she taught the art of decorating for the S.E. Community College in and around Weyburn. Adeline will be remembered as a person of strong will and clear mind, who loved people and showed kindness, compassion, charity and hospitality to all. Funeral service was held Friday, February 12 at 1:30 p.m. from St. John Lutheran Church, Lang, SK with Pastor Ron Bestvater officiating. Interment followed in Lang cemetery. All those in attendance were considered to be honorary pallbearers. The active pallbearers were Edward R. Arndt, Bob Khan, Jeff Khan, Edward Arndt, Robert Arndt and Ross Hockley. ARTHUR - Irene Elizabeth Arthur, of Red Deer, passed away at the Alberta Hospital, Ponoka on Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at the age of 78 years. Irene was born February 10. 1928 in Cedoux, SK, she will be lovingly remembered by her son, Randy (Mona) of Red Deer with their family Curtiss, Kendra and Kyle. She is also survived by one sister, Joan Carlson of Regina, SK, as well as a Brother and Sister-in-law, Ken (Joyce) Arthur of Burnaby, B.C. Her memory will also be cherished by several nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by her husband Reg, parents, Ben (Mary) Wawro, brother-in-law, Carl Carlson and sister-in-law, Mildred Anderson. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Regina, SK. AUSER - Giacinta 'Toni' (September 17, 1927 - October 13, 2012). Toni passed away peacefully after a brief illness. She is survived by her children, Jim (Heidi) of Saskatoon; Janet (Ram Venga) of London, ON; Trish (Mike Fagan) of Regina; Michael of Regina; son-in-law, Don Miller of Pilot Butte; daughter-in-law, Pam (Phil Pander) of Saskatoon and 16 grandchildren. She was predeceased by Art, her devoted husband of 54 years; parents, John and Lucia; children, Sherry Miller and Bob; granddaughter, Mary; and brothers, Joe and Lawrence. Toni grew up on the family farm near Lewvan, SK. She graduated as a nurse from Regina Grey Nuns' Hospital in 1949. She met Art while working in Assiniboia and moved to Regina where they were married in 1955. Together they raised their family of six. Family was the focus of her life and brought her great joy. Her home was a warm and welcoming place and there was always room at the table for more guests. Love, understanding, encouragement and patience were Toni's trademarks and made her a special person to all that knew her. She was the core of her family and took great interest in her children's and grandchildren's lives, never forgetting a detail. She had a zest for life and pursued many activities, including sewing, knitting, cooking, and fitness. Toni and Art shared a love of the outdoors, gardening, theatre, music and bridge. Her favorite vacations were family camping trips which she continued into her 70�s. In later years, she enjoyed the company of her friends with weekly bridge games. Toni had an unfailing confidence in God's love and care, even amidst some difficult parts of life's journey. She was at peace knowing that she was in God's hands, and was eternally optimistic, cheerful and gracious. She spent many decades serving the CWL and volunteering at Sacred Heart and St. Martin's Parishes. The family extends deep thanks to the staff that cared for Toni during her final days at Regina General Hospital. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at St. Martin's Parish, 4720 Castle Road, Regina, SK with Fr. Ken Koep as Celebrant and Fr. Louis Abello as Concelebrant. Interment will follow in Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. BARKER - Charles "Chuck" Barker, late of Weyburn, passed away February 4, 2003 at the age of 86 years. He was born July 16, 1916 at Lewvan, to Derland and Alice Barker. He was brought up by his mother and lived all his life on the family farm at Lewvan. He farmed up until 1986 then with failing health he moved to Souris Valley Extended Care Centre, Weyburn. Chuck liked to curl, golf and visit with neighbors and friends and especially woodworking. his work shop was a big part of his life. He was a member on the church board, co-op board, hall board and active in the Lewvan rink. He attended the United Church at Lewvan and served on the church board also. Chuck was a 50 year member of the Masons and enjoyed attending Mason meetings. He appreciated friends and neighbors and always had a chuckle for everyone. His cat "Tucker" was an important part of his life. He enjoyed children and adults alike. He was predeceased by his parents: Derland and Alice Barker; one brother: William Barker; one sister-in-law Barbara Barker. Chuck is survived by one brother: Jack Barker of Vermont, USA; four nieces: Susan Schultz, Beth Barker, Susan McCloud, Sally Aulson; one nephew Scott Barker; close friends: Albert and Madeleine Merriam; as well as several cousins and other relatives. Funeral service was held Friday, February 7 at 2:00 p.m. at Yellow Grass United Church, Yellow Grass, with Gary W. Goran officiating. Interment followed at Lakeview Cemetery, Lang. Active pallbearers were Clinton Schwindt, Jim Gibbons, Paul Reddaway, Stewart Schwindt, Doug Brown and Lyle Merriam. All in attendance were considered honorary pallbearers. BARTHEL - Margaret "Marg" (nee Mc Morris). After 93 well lived years Marg passed away peacefully at Jubilee Hospital on August 18th. Born in Lewvan, Sk, on March 20, 1916. She resided in Naicum, Regina, Kamloops, The Queen Charlotte Islands and Chilliwack before retiring to Victoria making friends wherever she went. She was predeceased by her husbands Bill Hitchcock and Herb Barthel as well as her siblings Grace Germain, Marion Strong and Ronald Mc Morris. She is survived and lovingly remembered by son Ernie Barthel (Corrie and family), along with many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Recently residing at Oak Bay Lodge she enjoyed many new friendships and continued to excel at Bridge. At her request, there will be no public service, however the family will hold a private memorial. BARTLETT - Shirley Isobel (nee McIver) passed away peacefully with her devoted husband and family by her side on October 21, 2006 at Tatagwa View in Weyburn. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her loving husband of 51 years, Eddie; son Keith (Alyson) Bartlett, Tara, Tanya, Katie, and Chet; daughter Colleen (Doug) Weimer, Blaine, Kaila, and Kendra; daughter Cathy (Scott) Hill, Amanda, Michelle, and Gavin; son Ron (Gail) Bartlett, Paige and Kyle; brother Johnny (Myrna) McIver; sister Carol (Jim) Gilchrist; sister Sharon Kaufmann; sister-in-law Jean Zaran: sister-in-law Norma (Harold) Kullman; and her numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Allan and Frances McIver. Shirley was born at the family farm at Colfax, on July 22, 1937. She attended school in Lewvan and at Q.D.S. in Regina before marrying Eddie Bartlett in 1955. For 44 years, they farmed and raised a family in the Colfax community. They then retired to their home in Weyburn. Shirley was active in the United Church, the U.C.W, and was always involved in her community's events. She was a devoted wife and mother and a true friend to all she knew. She loved to read, bake, garden, and cook huge meals for everyone! As a grandmother she taught her grandchildren the values of kindness and goodness. Shirley always had a ready smile - the strength and courage she showed in the past three years will always be an inspiration to us all! Special thanks to all the compassionate caregivers at Regina General Hospital, Weyburn General Hospital, and especially to everyone at Tatagwa View who created a home full of love, fun, and support. A Memorial Service was held at Grace United Church in Weyburn on Tuesday, October 24, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Hazel Arbon Officiating. A private family interment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery in Weyburn. BEAHUN - William. On October 14, 2007, William Beahun passed away with our Lord at his side. He had fought a short but courageous battle. He was born on November 11, 1923 in Colfax. Bill was predeceased by his mother Pearl and father Michael, his brothers Peter, Tom and Joe. Let to mourn his loss but to celebrate his life is his wife of 59 years, Victoria; his daughters Linda and Sharon; his son and best friend Ron and his son-in-law Gord. Missing Papa are his grandchildren: Jaimie (Casey), Eliza, Ryan and Paul; missing Great-Papa is his beautiful great granddaughter Presley; and Papa's little Zachary, his four-legged companion with endless tail wags and licks; and very special friends of our family, Bev (Linda) and Nancy (Ron) whom we thank for their unwavering support and friendship to Pops; and Martyn of Scotland who always 'holds the glass high' for Dad! Dad will truly be missed by his life-long buddy Russ Taylor (Bunty and family), his nieces and nephews (especially Edna and Brent), his many relatives and friends. Dad was our father, our teacher and our Hero. He had a wonderful spirit, a quick wit and always with a smile. He had incredible personal strength. He was a self-taught carpenter, handyman and auto mechanic as well as a champion baseball and horseshoe player. Dad loved music. Early in their marriage, he and Mom played in a band for weddings and get-togethers in rural Saskatchewan, Bill with his guitar and Vickie with her accordion. Later in life Dad enjoyed listening to his cassette tapes and watching his favorite television shows. He made sure to budget a two week family vacation each year to introduce his children to the world around them. Precious memories and a love to travel will always be with us. After retirement, Dad and Mom became 'snowbirds' and spent their winters in Weslaco, Texas and Mexico. Dad will be missed for his unselfish love and hardworking ways. He was a humble person who never sought recognition but, rather, did all he could to help his family attain their personal goals. He had a strong work ethic but always made time for his family. Dad stood behind his children and gave them strength and support. He worked hard to clear a safe and sure path for his family to follow. We wish to thank Dr. Ron Gore, as well as Kelsey and Christie, nurses in the respiratory unit of the Kelowna General Hospital, for their care and respect. A funeral mass was held Thursday, October 18 at 2:00 pm with Father Wayne Pfliger, at St. Charles Garnier Parish, Kelowna, BC. BELTRAMINI Claudette (nee Tokarz), late of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Friday, January 25, 2002, after a brief struggle with cancer. Claudette was predeceased by her parents, father Anthony, mothers Helena and Victoria and infant brother John. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 47 years, Bruno; daughters Diane (Jim) Walker and Joanne; granddaughters Carla (Kevin) Davies, Kirstie and Aurlee Walker; sisters Matilda (Fred) Erickson, Alfreada (Ted) Pass; brother Florian (Cecilia) Tokarz; brother-in-law Lou Beltramini; sister-in-law Barbara Beltramini as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Born in 1930 in Weyburn, Claudette was raised on farms near Cedoux and Creelman, SK. After attending Normal School in Moose Jaw, she taught for five years before moving to Regina. Claudette married Bruno in 1954 and raised two daughters. After spending sixteen years in Moose Jaw, she returned to Regina to be close to her family. Claudette's greatest pleasures were her granddaughters, gardening, sewing and traveling. Her loving ways will be missed by all. On Wednesday, September 22, 1999, Annie Agnes Borys, passed away at Souris Valley Extended Care Centre, Weyburn, at the age of 84 years. Predeceased by her parents, John D. and Anastsia Goski (nee Kot); her husband Michael Borys; three sisters: Rosie Wilkie, Mary Lucyk and Betty Bileski; and one brother, John J. Goski. Annie is survived by two sisters: Angeline (Bill) Brown of Red Deer, AB, and Leona (Wayne) McLean of Regina; one brother Joe (Velda) Goski of Weyburn; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. On Friday, September 30, 2005, Jacob Edward Borys, late of Weyburn, passed away at Crocus Plains Villa at the age of 86 years. Predeceased by his parents, Peter and Annie Borys; three brothers: Michael, Dominic and Alexander and two sisters: Mary Schneider and an infant sister at birth. Jack is survived by his two sisters, Catherine (Katie) Goski of Weyburn, and Angeline (Nell) Bachman of Regina, his sister-in-law, Lydia Borys of Weyburn, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was born November 25, 1918 at Colfax. After completing Grade 12, he worked for about a year in the municipal office in Cedoux, thinking about a career as secretary treasurer. He decided farming was what he wanted to do, and farmed from then on until retirement in 1989. He served in the army during WWII, the war ended so he did not serve overseas. He was an avid reader, subscribing to a multitude of magazines and newspapers. Gardening was a major interest, especially in his retirement years. The summer months were spent nurturing his excellent garden and flower beds. He would spend hours repairing anything that wouldn't work or was broken, believing anything that was 'broke could be unbroke'. He enjoyed the challenge of fixing the problem with whatever tools and scraps he had at his disposal. Jack was a member and attendee of Holy Trinity Parish in Cedoux, and upon retirement to Weyburn in 1989, attended St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church. Special thanks to the staff at Crocus Plains Villa for doing so much to make the past 9 months comfortable for Jacob; the family and friends who dropped by to visit and bring comfort; Tamara and Fletcher Funeral Chapels for their care; and to Rev. Mary was born October 3, 1915 on the farm near Tyvan, SK. Over the next fourteen years, she had eight more playmates arrive with the birth of six sisters and two brothers, who absolutely adored their "Sister Mary". Being the eldest, there was no end to work on the farm, and household duties. As a result, Mary wasn't able to attend school until eight years of age and was only able to go until the age of 14, as her help was needed doing field work including haying, ploughing, seeding and harrowing, all done with a team of six horses. In the fall, harvesting and threshing time added to her already heavy workload. She took her schooling at Krakow School very seriously. Mary worked hard as her first language was Ukrainian, her second language was Polish and her third language was English, which she mastered, to the point of not even having an accent. She would say her prayers in Polish to her dying day, and was still trying to teach some of us Ukrainian until her passing. As well, being left-handed, she was forced to write with her right hand, mastering that feat as well. She would drill her younger sisters and brothers with the alphabet and spelling, so they would be much better prepared for school than she had been. After a hard days work, she and "Sister Rose" would haul water from the dug-out or Municipal Well and heat it on the wood burning stove to wash clothes. Using a wash board, they would rub the dirt out until they had blisters covering their hands. Hard work and a stong faith in God carried her through many a hard time. Mary became an excellent cook and baker, as well as an outstanding seemstress for herself and her sisters by simply looking at a catalouge and drawing a pattern on paper. In 1932, the family moved to the Hagen farm six miles north of Cedoux, where a few years later she would meet her future husband, Paul. Her first job which took her away from home in the winter of 1933, had her helping the Pete Kosior family in Griffin, where she attended to three young children whose mother had surgery and wasn't able to lift the little ones. Her next job was at the McBee farm helping with the threshing. In the fall of 1934 she worked for two years at the Fillmore hotel as a chambermaid, earning a whopping $10.00 a month the first year and then received $25.00 a month the second year. In 1936, she and Paul started dating and were married on November 2, 1938 at the Weyburn Roman Catholic Church. They started their family in 1939 with the birth of Larry, followed by the arrivals of Lyle, Ron, Garry, (twins) Daryl and Darlene (finally a daughter), and the last but not least (twins) Blaine and Blair. Always busy, but always happy, Mary loved, and was loved, so very much by her children, their spouses and her grandchildren and great grandchildren as she watched what her and Paul had created, a family that grew to 100 people, and is still growing. She loved to write letters, play cards, especially Canasta, play bingo and listen to music and loved to dance, often remarking "If I die dancing, I die happy". She also loved to tell a good joke and was an entertainer second to none. Her motto was, the bigger the gathering, the better. Mary and Paul farmed the land his parents had homesteaded in 1902, and continued to farm until they retired to Weyburn on 1974. They first owned a duplex, and a number of years later, bought a much bigger home, as the family grew and grew, and she wanted to host everyone, all the time. Following a tragic farming accident in 1990, their first born son, Larry, was taken from the clan. After Paul passed away in 1993, Mary held onto her house until 1996, at which time she moved into an apartment until her lessening vision made it impossible to live alone. Never a complainer, she made a move to her first Home for Seniors, where she lived until requiring major surgery to remove part of her stomach. It was at this time, the Regina General Hospital advised she would require proper nursing care, thus the move to Crocus Villa Nursing Home, then to Souris Valley Extended Care Facility which closed down and moved the participants to Tatagwa View, where she made so very many wonderful friends, and was treated with the utmost respect and kindness. Even though her short term memory started to fade a bit, over the last year, she was able to enjoy every single day to the fullest and brought much happiness to all who came to meet her. As we, her family have often remarked, we feel sorry for anyone who didn't have our beautiful mom as their mother. She had a way of being able to talk to and be listened to with the utmost respect by all her granchildren and great grandchildren who all have said, not once did she ever raise her voice, or a hand to them, and they would absolutely be crushed if they knew they had done or said something to displease her. Even though she would never say a word to them, her eyes spoke volumes about their behaviour, and they would immediately be ashamed of what every they had said or done, and knew they would never bring that look forth again, as they apologized for their actions. Mary was very involved in the CWL, and was an avid curling fan, and loved to watch her boys play hockey and baseball, and follow the Saskatchewan Roughriders whenever their games were broadcasted. She was so proud of her family and loved to hear from them wherever they ended up moving to and following all their kids activities from school age to being parents themselves. She was the babysitter extraordinaire, and the kids always knew a yummy meal of perogies, and or cabbage rolls was just a phone call away, not to mention her fantastic baked goods. Mary had a heart attack on April 9, 2009, and after a brief stay in the hospital, returned to her lovely home at Tatagwa View, where she passed away on May 29, 2009 with her family holding her near and kissing her goodbye and knowing we had lost the Matriarch of the Borys � Wodzinski families. To say you will be missed Mom, is an understatement. We know you are watching over each and every one of us and know that God has taken you home with him until we meet again. On Wednesday, January 9, 2008, Valerie Marvella Borys, passed away at the Weyburn General Hospital, at the age of 65 years. Predeceased by her father, Martin Eberhardt, and brothers, Arnold and Walter "Bab". Valerie will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 46 years, Lyle Borys of Weyburn, and their family: Brett (Juana) Borys of Weyburn, and their children, Melayne, Schenley, Dakota, Maren and Adair; Donna (Wes) Loucks of Medicine Hat, AB. And their children, Riley, Rody and Kyler; Ward Borys (girlfriend Shyla) of Weyburn, her mother, Emma Eberhardt of Lang, one sister, Ivy Kerr of Yellow Grass; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Valerie Marvella Borys was born December 9, 1942 at Regina. She was raised in Lang. Being the baby of the family by 17 years, she was maybe a little spoiled but treasured by her sister, Ivy, brothers, Arn and Babe. Sister Ivy of 20 years difference remembers coming home on holidays, hoping to slip in, however baby sister Valerie quietly sitting by her pillow, waiting for big sister to wake up. Valerie attended Lang School from Grade 1 to 12, then after graduating, attended secretary school in Edmonton, AB. She worked at SunLife in Regina, before marrying Lyle Borys on December 30, 1961 at Lang Lutheran Church. After marriage, she moved to Colfax to become a housewife and to raise a family. They stayed in Colfax until 1974 when the family moved to Weyburn. In 1976, Valerie started working at the Weyburn Co-op until her passing, making it 31 years of service which she enjoyed every day. She received a '30 years of Service' plaque in 2006. Valerie loved having her big garden on the Cedoux farm, and she spent many hours canning and freezing her vegetables, as well as planting and caring for her flower garden and fruit trees which she took great pride in, especially her beautiful gladiolas. Countless hours spent on her riding lawnmower and the push lawnmower to give the final touch, making the farm yard look like a park. She attended Sunday School, was baptized, married and confirmed in the Lang Lutheran Church which she and Lyle continued to attend periodically even after moving to Colfax. During her years in Colfax, she participated with functions in the Colfax Community Hall, curling rink, and the Colfax sports day. Valerie loved 'coffeeing' with the Colfax ladies and all watching 'the Edge of Night" together. In Valerie's relaxing time, she enjoyed doing her crossword puzzles, wearing out a couple crossword dictionaries, as well as numerous hours reading. Valerie took great pride in keeping their farm home and their Weyburn home neat and tidy. On cold winter evenings she enjoyed putting together very complicated puzzles and listening to Elvis Presley music. After moving to Weyburn, Valerie took up ceramics and macrame. They enjoyed spending their winter months in Weyburn and the summer on their Cedoux farm since 1974. They made many great memories traveling with friends to Mexico, Jamaica, Hawaii and on Caribbean cruises, and spending time in Arizona with sister, Ivy and her husband Jim Kerr. Valerie loved the casino machines, helping support Las Vegas. They treasured family fishing trips, Disneyland and summer holiday get-aways. Valerie loved the hot Saskatchewan summers and hated the cold winter days. She treasured spending time with her eight special grandchildren. Lyle and Valerie went for many memorable drives checking crops, livestock and machinery parts. Everyone knew her for her sauerkraut soup and creamed wild duck. Valerie also had a shoe fetish. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by all she knew and loved. BRADY - Ernest Albert died peacefully, with his family by his side on Friday, March 4, 2005, at the age of 78 years. Predeceased by his brothers, John, Carl, Leo, Frank, and Fred; his sisters, Margaret, Nora and Alma. Ernest is survived by his children, Dan (Mary Ann), Diane (Bill) Tyrer, and Michelle (Michael) Wilson; grandchildren, Chris Tyrer, Tricia Geoge (Shawn), Tom, Greg and Suzanne Brady, Emma and Gabriel Wilson; sisters Elsie Sykes and Millie Harker; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Ernie was born on a farm near Colfax, SK. He worked as an Estate Officer for many years but then followed his love of electrical repair by working at Auto Electric. Ernie loved to restore antique cars and fix computers. He was a loving and caring family man and will be dearly missed. BROWN - Kathleen Kay Marion (nee Cuddington) born July 1, 1920, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2009 at Weyburn Special Care Home. Predeceased by parents William and Rose Cuddington, Husband John (Jack) Brown (1998), brothers Thomas, William and David, and sisters Ellen Gardner, Alice Cuddington, and brother-in-law Charles Auld. Kay is survived by her children: Marion Arneson, and her family Lee (Kendra), Scott (Amanda) and Kimberley and their father Richard Arneson of Milestone; Beverly (Greg) Groff, and their family, Trevor (Jane) and Anika, Erin (Matt) and Whitney of Regina; Douglas (Linda) Brown, and their family, Mike and Jim of Regina; Robert Brown of Lewvan; sisters, Patricia Goncalves, Doris Aleksenko, and brother Arthur Cuddington, British Columbia; special cousins, Doug and Margaret Cuddington and their family; sisterin-law, Isabel Auld and Gean (Ross) Perry, Keith, Warren and Connie and families, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and all other non related favorite nieces and nephews who called her Grandma Brown. Born at Alameda, Kay lived at Gray and Regina. During the war years Kay worked in the war plant in Oshawa, Ontario. Returning to Saskatchewan, Kay married Jack Brown and they were married in Regina, October 23, 1945 and moved to the Lewvan family farm. They were married 53 years and lived all those years at Lewvan. Jack passed away in December 20, 1998. Kay continued to live at Lewvan on the farm and in October 2002, moved to Weyburn due to ill health. Kay's Mother, brothers and sisters had all moved to British Columbia. Kay and Jack did take a few holidays to BC to visit family members and of course her family members would come back to Saskatchewan to the Lewvan farm for visits. Kay loved music and enjoyed her music abilities being able to play the harmonica and once hearing a song could play it. Kay's homemade bread and buns, butter tarts, shortbread and special fruit cakes she made for weddings were popular with all friends and family and the coffee pot was always on whenever anyone stopped for a visit. Community involvement included volunteering in the rink, sports days and fall suppers and teaching Sunday School. A member of the Lewvan United Church Women's group and Francis Rebecca's Ladies group. For many years a reporter to the Weyburn Review for the Lewvan area advising of local activities and events. Kay took a special interest in calling friends, local neighbors and shut ins who would be home alone or had no close family members, just to say Hi, how are you doing today. and many of them got a special care package delivered to them or invited over for supper. Kay was very proud of all her grandchildren and new great granddaughter Anika, and enjoyed spending time with them playing games and sharing her music with them. July 1 was her special birthday celebration that she always looked forward to. BUKOWSKI - Ted W. Bukowski, late of Weyburn, passed away suddenly at the Weyburn General Hospital on Tuesday, October 9, 2001 at the age of 76 years. Ted was born at his family farm near Cedoux, January 4, 1925 where he would spend most of his time working on the farmland with his mother and then later buying grain for the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. In 1956, Ted and his family moved to Weyburn into their newly built home that he and his wife built with their own hands. He then started working for the Department of Agriculture as a Water Technician until his retirement in 1987. Ted had a great passion for music. He had a talent for hearing a tune and the ability to play it without a note in front of him. He would play the accordion for many dances and parties and enjoyed entertaining friends and family playing the electric organ. Ted's other great love was his family and his friends. He always made sure that they were well taken care of. He loved spending time with his grandchildren when they would come and visit him. Predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Katherine Bukowski; his two brothers, Joe and Adolph; four sisters: Dorothy and Sephania in infancy, Melvina Gawel and Pauline Knox. Ted is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Doreen Bukowski; dearly missed by his son, Doug (Peg) Bukowski of Calgary and his daughter, Sharon (David) Lethbridge of Salmon Arm. On Wednesday, July 11, 2001, Anne Campbell, late of Weyburn, passed away at the Weyburn General Hospital, at the age of 68 years. Predeceased by her parents, a daughter in infancy, sister-in-law, Joan Butler and by her husband Glen. Anne is survived by her children: Jim (Pam) Campbell of Weyburn, and Cheryl Holmstrom of Regina, and her grandchildren: Lisa and Michael; two brothers: Jim Butler of Toronto, ON, and Bill (Luella) Butler of Pickering, ON; as well as several nieces and nephews. Anne was born September 21, 1932 at Toronto, ON. She was raised on Seaforth Ave. in Toronto by her mother alongside her brothers, after her father left. She attended Parkdale Public School and Western Tech in Toronto. Anne lived and worked in Toronto until her marriage to Glen Campbell in November 1957, when they moved to Colfax. She worked at Loblaws bakery in Toronto, then after moving to Colfax she became a telephone operator as well as assisting Glen with his duties as postmaster. After his death, she took over the job as postmistress. She lived in Colfax until 1982 when she bought a house in Weyburn and moved to town. Her hobbies were sewing and reading before her eyesight started to fail. She also loved to watch her soap operas. But her main interest was her family and friends, with grandchildren being very special to her. She helped out the community of Colfax by taking up collections at the post office for weddings and various other things. Mom will always be loved and missed and never forgotten, she will always be in our hearts. Funeral service was held Saturday, July 14 at 3:00 p.m. from Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, with Rev. John Ferrier officiating. Interment followed in Colfax cemetery. All those in attendance were considered to be honorary pallbearers. CAMPBELL - John James Eldon Campbell was born April 18, 1913 on his dad's homestead at Colfax, and passed away December 12, 2004 at Weyburn. Following graduation from high school he was employed at several jobs, prior to enlisting in the R.C.A.F. He married Mona Brown in November of 1931 and following his release from service began farming in the Colfax district. They retired to Colfax in 1983 where he resided until November of this year. Eldon was predeceased by his parents Jack and Margaret Campbell; stepmother Etta Campbell; wife Mona; brother Glen Campbell; sister Helen Pierce and grandson Damon Goski. Eldon is survived by his daughter Jean (Jack) Goski, Cedoux; son Laurie (Denise), Cofax; grandchildren Darren (Nanette) Goski; Darby Goski; Tanis Goski; Tara (Jeff) McKinney; Tracie Campbell (fianc�e John Fuchs) and Ryan Campbell, three great grandchildren Kaden and Ethan Goski and Lauren McKinney as well as numerous nieces and nephews. On Sunday, October 29, 2006, Laurie Campbell, late of Colfax, passed away at the age of 48 years. Laurie was predeceased by his mother and father, Eldon and Mona Campbell; mother-in-law, Marion Skjonsby, and a nephew, Damon Goski. Laurie Campbell was born October 4, 1958 at Weyburn. He grew up on the family farm at Colfax, taking his elementary schooling in Colfax, then attended Weyburn Junior High School and the Weyburn Comprehensive School. On July 9, 1976 Laurie and Denise were married in Regina. Laurie worked as a grain elevator agent from 1976 to 1984 in Colfax, Bechard, Drinkwater and Francis. They moved to and took over the family farm at Colfax in 1983. Laurie also drove school bus from 1985 to 1990, and was a battery operator for Southeast Oilfield Services from 1992 to 2006, along with farming. He was a very family oriented man, proud of his kid's accomplishments and a very proud Papa to Lauren and Piper. CAMPBELL - Mona Phyllis (nee Brown). On Tuesday, February 27, 2001, Mona Phyllis Campbell, late of Weyburn, passed away at the Weyburn General Hospital, at the age of 83 years. Predeceased by her parents, Jack and Emma Brown; and by two sisters: Florence Pierce and Ila Brown. Mona is survived by her husband, Eldon Campbell; daughter, Jean (Jack) Goski; son, Laurie (Denise) Campbell; grandchildren: Darren (Nanette) Goski, Darby Goski, Damon (Tanis) Goski, Tara Campbell (Jeff McKinney), Tracie Campbell and Ryan Campbell; great grandson Kaden Goski; two sisters: Helen Pierce and Anne Campbell; as well as nine nieces and nephews. Mona Phyllis Brown was born October 12, 1917 to Jack and Emma Brown at Shaunavon. At age two, she moved with her parents and sisters, Florence and Ila to a farm three and one half miles south of Colfax. She attended Kilmarnock School and then went to high school at Colfax. Mona worked as a telephone operator at Colfax, Lewvan and Indian Head. She married Eldon Campbell of Colfax on November 18, 1941. They lived at Dauphin, MB and at the west coast during the war years and returned to farm at Colfax in 1946. Mona and Eldon farmed at Colfax until December 1981 and then moved into Colfax. She was a member of the Colfax United Church and a life time member of the Colfax UCW. A memorial service was held Friday, March 2 at 3:00 p.m. from Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, with Rev. John Ferrier officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Colfax Cemetery. All those in attendance were considered to be honorary pallbearers. CHINSKI - Gunda Eleanore (nee Grams). It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gunda Eleanore Chinski at the Regina General Hospital on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at the age of 89 years. Gunda was born on March 4, 1919 to Emil and Pauline Grams, the sixth child of 13. She attended Waverly and Actonvale schools. On January 25, 1944, she married Leo John Chinski in Yellow Grass. They raised their eight children, two daughters, Pearl and Gunda and six sons, Leo, Maynard, Paul, Julian, Frank and Brian on their family farm located six miles north of Cedoux. In 1975 they retired to Cedoux where Gunda continued to reside even after being widowed in 1993. In 2004 she moved into Bison Manor in Weyburn where she resided until her passing. Gunda was a very independent woman and strong in character. Her interests and hobbies were many. She enjoyed gardening and watching the various birds outside her living room window, especially the hummingbirds and finches and missed them once she moved into Weyburn. Sewing, quilting, playing cards, tile rummy, scrabble, jigsaw puzzles, going to bingo and her monthly trips to Casino Regina or Bear Claw Casino kept her busy. Gunda enjoyed companionship of family and friends. Gunda was known for her doughnuts, rum and butter tarts at Christmas, hot cross buns at Easter, sauerkraut, cabbage rolls, headcheese, but most of all her special fried chicken. Gunda was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Family was very important to her, they were first and foremost in her life. She had and showed a great love for her family, and on March 4, 2008, her life came full circle. Predeceased by her parents, Emil and Pauline Grams; her husband, Leo John Chinski; son-in-law, Ivan Hein; sisters: Evelyn in infancy, Elsie Wegwitz, Emily Reich, Emma Schultz, Mathilde Krueger, and brother, Lou Grams. CHINSKI - Madeline "Madge" Elsie Chinski, beloved wife of Fred Chinski passed away in Brooks, Alberta, on Saturday, August 9th, 2003 at the age of 70 years. Madeline was born in Kayville, Sask. on November 25th, 1932. She was the youngest sister in her family of eleven. Madge moved to Weyburn and worked at the Souris Valley Hospital as a nurse's aid. She married Fred Chinski on April 29th, 1955 and they resided in Saskatoon and later in the farming community of Cedoux, Saskatchewan. Madge and Fred have resided in Brooks since 1997. More than anything she loved her family. Her children and grandchildren were a source of inspiration and enjoyment which gave her strength, courage and a strong will to live. She enjoyed, gardening, reading books and long nature walks. Madge will be remembered for her laughter and incredible sense of humour. Her parents and three sisters predeceased her. Madge is also survived by her loving family, husband Fred and six children, Audrey Thackeray and her husband Barry of Brooks, Fred and his wife Faye of Okotoks, Alberta, Murray and his wife Cheryl of Stoney Plain, Alberta, Leonard and his wife Sandy of Red Deer, Barbara Paquette of Calgary and Darrald and his wife Jenni of Calgary; 11 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; 7 brothers and numerous nieces and nephews. CHINSKI - Natalie "Nettie" (nee Nazar) Chinski passed away peacefully on Friday, October 19, 2012 at the age of 90 years in Saskatoon. Natalie is predeceased by her husband John Chinski; parents Dmytro (Dan) and Paraskevia (Pauline) Nazar; brothers Mike, Harry, Bill, and Alex Nazar; sisters Anne Shewchuk, Mary Turchyn, Kay Zalitach, and Millie Smerechynski as well as numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces. Natalie is lovingly remembered by her children Donnie (Rebecca) Chinski, Langley, BC; Joanne (Sid) Charlton, Saskatoon; Janice Chinski, Edmonton, AB; and granddaughter Meghan (Kevin) Saganski, Saskatoon; sisters-in-law Annie Nazar, Toronto, ON and Mary Kuntz, Calgary, AB; as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Natalie was born Nastia Nazar on April 10, 1922, in Prawda, MB to parents of Ukrainian descent. Natalie, or "Nettie" to many in her family, was the second youngest of nine children. Natalie grew up on a farm, and after leaving home, worked in Winnipeg, MB. She married John Chinski in Winnipeg on July 20, 1949. Natalie then moved to John�s hometown of Cedoux, where they farmed and raised their children. In the mid 1980�s, after many years of living and working on the farm, John and Natalie semi-retired to Weyburn. Two years after John�s death in 1989, Natalie moved to Saskatoon. While there, she transitioned from apartment complexes to The Bentley, an assisted living facility, and finally to Keedwell Assisted Living Centre, a personal care home where she resided until her passing. Chaplain Marjorie McLeod presided over the graveside service of cremains at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Weyburn. A reception for family and friends followed at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #47. Natalie enjoyed living on the farm despite the challenges and hard work involved in its operation. She took pleasure in growing a vegetable garden and tending flowers. Over the years, many enjoyed her delicious home cooked meals and baking treats. She also crocheted doilies and made quilts and comforters. Natalie�s sense of humour was evident to all who knew her. She was fond of dancing, and listening to old-time and country music. In Saskatoon, where she formed a close circle of friends, she looked forward to birthday parties and brunch after church services. She held a special place in her heart for Meghan, her only grandchild. We the family of Natalie Chinski would like to thank all of our relatives, neighbours, and friends for their thoughtfulness expressed through prayers, cards, phone calls, deeds and words. COLLINS - Walter Harold "Tom". Tom passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, September 18. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Eleanor nee Rothwell. He is survived by his two sons David (Elaine) and Norval (Daniel). David's two children, Shawn and Cindy, and four great-grandchildren Skye, Vinnie, Andrew, Leneigh, and his sisters Mary MacLaughlin and Elizabeth Waldo. Tom grew up in Lewvan, Saskatchewan, served in the Canadian Armed Forces at Portage La Prairie, and worked for many years at Canada Post in Regina. Tom enjoyed life, especially playing cards with his dear friends at Queen Victoria Estates and spending winters in Hawaii. We remember him as a kind, generous and always joking and making others laugh. Comishin, late of Estevan and formerly of Cedoux and Weyburn, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 10, 2007 at Estevan. Barney was born in Cedoux, December 29, 1914. Barney's home was Cedoux for most of his life. He purchased his father's blacksmith and garage business and started a British American/Gulf Oil fuel agency servicing the area. When Gulf Oil was purchased by Petro Canada, Barney and his wife Helen moved to Weyburn where he worked for Petro Canada until his retirement. Barney's home has been Hillview Manor in Estevan since June 2002. Barney loved to travel with Helen, friends and family and visited places within Canada, USA, Hawaii and Europe. He enjoyed coffee and cards with friends and spending time with his family, especially children. His grandchildren brought a sparkle to his eye and a smile to his face. Barney was a loving grandfather, instilling in his grandchildren his love of music and nature. Barney was a treasure who brought joy, humor and comfort to lives. His warm loving nature and generosity made him special to all who knew him. Gone are the days of traveling the countryside in the bulk fuel truck, riding the lawn mower, ice cream treats in Cedoux, blowing up muscles, teasing and laughing with the grandkids. Living on are precious memories and his legacy of love and devotion. Barney was predeceased by his wife Helen; stepson Daryl; parents, Steve and Katherine; two sisters, Josephine and Monica and three brothers-in-law, Ted, Bill and George. He leaves to cherish his memory: two sisters, Natalie Byers and Judy (Jerry) Resch; stepchildren, Wayne (Pat) Leader and Darlene (Kenn) Geisel, as well as many priceless grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. DECHANT - Ernest Henry. On Monday, December 11, 2006, Ernest Henry Dechant, late of Weyburn, passed away at the age of 85 years. Ernest was predeceased by his parents, Reinheld and Hilda Dechant and by brothers, Arthur, Carl and Walter Dechant. Ernest will be lovingly remembered by his brothers, Ralph and Clifford Dechant and his sister, Grace Dechant, all of Weyburn, as well as by many relatives and friends. Ernest Henry Dechant was born on the home farm near Colfax, the third of seven children born to Reinheld and Hilda Dechant. His formal education was received at the Diamond School. After his formal education, Ernie worked on a neighbor's farm, Allan McIver. Then Ernie began farming with his brother, Ralph. They had a mixed farm, as most were at that time. When his parents passed away, his brother, Art joined with them in the farming. As busy as farming can be, they did do some custom combining, since they owned their own machinery. Ernie was an avid curler, curling in Colfax and Francis. Of course, the beginning would have been on natural ice, which made it much more difficult. He was also a member of the Lutheran Church in Francis, and helped to build the church and parsonage. He also enjoyed singing in the choir. Ernie moved into Weyburn, at first farming in the summers, then totally retiring from farming. He became a strong supporter of the Weyburn Red Wings, always getting his tickets early. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by all he knew and loved. DECHANT - Ralph Robert Dechant late of Weyburn, passed away January 20, 2012 at the age of 93 years. Ralph was born to Reinhold and Hilda Dechant on December 28, 1918 at Colfax. He attended Diamond School in the Colfax district. Ralph farmed in the area with his brothers and sister, and worked as a farm hand with the neighbouring farmers and the R.M. of Wellington. He enjoyed curling and hockey, especially the Red Wings, attending local social events, and picking rocks. Ralph was also a decorated World War II veteran. Ralph is predeceased by his father and mother, Reinhold and Hilda Dechant; four brothers, Walter, Arthur, Ernie and Carl and his sister, Grace. Ralph will be lovingly remembered by his brother, Clifford Dechant of Weyburn. It is with sadness that the family of Bruce Devitt announce his passing on April 20, 2006. He was predeceased by Mary, his wife of 63 years, on August 1, 2003, and is survived by his son Doug (Jan) of Kannata Valley, SK; his daughters Pat Geran of Calgary, AB, Peg (Doug) Reid of Creston, BC and Linda (Ed) Klemm of Sorrento, BC. As well, he leaves to mourn two granddaughters Shelley Geran of Calgary, AB and Leslie (Chris) Mohl of Ottawa, ON; sisters Doris Gain of Bala, ON and Grace (Oliver) Mossing of Regina, SK; and brother-in-law Archie McLellan of Thunder Bay, ON. He was also predeceased by two brothers Jack and Glen; and one sister Beth. Bruce was born in Lewvan. SK on December 11, 1914, and the family moved to Parry, SK where he spent his younger years working on the family farm. In 1939 he married Mary and moved to Regina where he resided until his death. During WWII, Bruce proudly served as an airplane mechanic with the R.C.A.F. but most of his career was spent as a service specialist with the Ford Tractor Co. traveling the four western provinces. He often said, I drove a million miles for Ford. He retired in 1974. Bruce was a life-long member of Rosemont United Church. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Ken, June and the entire staff at Caring Arms Care Home, for the constant pampering and concern showed to our Dad. Your name says it all. DOLINSKI - Fred. On Monday February 16, 2009 Fred Dolinski age 78 years, passed away peacefully at the Regina General Hospital with god-daughters Teresa and Nicole; the Szwetz family and nephew Allan by his side. He was predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Lean Dolinski; brothers: Joseph, Alex, Tony and Stanley Dolinski and sister-in-law Nettie Dolinski. Fred is survived by his nephews: Allan (Diane) Dolinski and their sons, David and Ian, Martin (Michele) Dolinski and Marvin Dolinski, all of Vancouver, BC; the Szwetz family, as well as numerous cousins and friends. Fred was born on September 13, 1930. They lived in Montmartre and attended school in Wolseley. In 1942, he moved with his father, mother and brothers to Cedoux. He worked for the Department of Highways for 28 years until 1987. Fred also farmed with his brother Tony, up till the time of Tony's passing 2007. He was a member of the third degree Knights of Columbus and was a long time member of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Weyburn. Fred enjoyed the Weyburn Red Wing hockey games and helping his friends with any type of work. Fred is known for his sense of humor that would bring many laughs with his friends throughout the community. On May 21, 2008 Roy Downs passed away in Edmonton. Roy grew up at Lewvan and Grand Coulee then farmed near Pense until the early 1980's. He was fortunate to have an occupation he truly loved. He enjoyed hearing about work on the farm right to the end of his life. He served his community through active participation in the United Church as well as serving on the school board and as Mayor of Pense in the early 1970's. Roy was an avid stamp and coin collector and enjoyed camping, curling, cribbage and bridge. Family was always his first priority. Roy was predeceased by his infant son Jimmie (1946) and his first wife Isabel (1976). He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Edna; his daughters Lois Pinno (Ernie); Linda Brown (Rod); Phyllis Roach (Norm); Brenda Prokopetz (Lorne); and his grandchildren Chris Pinno (Adriana); Brad Pinno (LeeAnne); Kelly Brown (Travis); Tracy Brown (Derek); Janice Brown (Richard) Brian Brown; Susan Sawarin (Tim); Laureen Schan (Doug); Patrick Roach (Amy); Kory Roach (Sasja); Jordan Roach (Mar); Jenn and Scott Prokopetz. A celebration of Roy's life will be held in Edmonton on Monday April 26. Interment will be on Wednesday April 28 at Regina Memorial Gardens Highway #1 East at 1:00 PM. FARR - Barry James (June 22, 1945 - March 9, 2011) of Lumsden, Sk. formerly from Lewvan, Sk. Serinated by Angels and surrounded by his loving family, Barry James Farr left this world to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Predeceased by daughter Janine Anita Farr in 1978 and his sister Carol Quartly in 2004, Barry is survived by his loving wife and soul mate of 46 years, Judy; Sons: Jeffrey (Jody) and children: Jordan, Jamie and Justin; Jason (Julie) and children: Brody, Brett, Bayley and Brooklyn; 2 canine Boxers: Mia and Annie; Mother: Elearnor Farr; Father: Glenn Farr; Sisters: Julie (Rich) Morley, Lorie Farr and Linda Magnusson; Brothers-in-law: Glen (Pat) Gronnerud and Gordon (Marlene) Quartly plus numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and many, many friends. His immense passion for family, friends and life is an inspiration to all who knew him. Later in life, with open arms Barry embraced his faith in our Lord and in recent years had a passion to lead others to Christ. GALL - Marlene Rosine (nee Kitchen). On Sunday, September 5, 1999, Marlene Rosine Gall, late of Weyburn and formerly of Osage, passed away at the Weyburn General Hospital at the age of 61 years. Predeceased by her parents, Elma (Pointer) and David Kitchen; two brothers: Vergil Kitchen (in infancy) and Elton Kitchen; one brother-in-law, Magnus Nelson and by her husband, Louis Gall on May 3, 1998. Marlene is survived by three children: Wilfred Gall (Tina and April Soloway) of Weyburn; Dwight Gall of Osage; and Karen Gall (Kevin Hennig) of Weyburn; five grandchildren: Charlene Gall, Patricia Gall, Michael Gall, Karlene Hennig and Kelsey Hennig; three sisters: Pat Mitchell of Sparwood, BC; Joyce Nelson of Weyburn and Sally (Ken) Kencaid of Avonlea; three brothers: George (Carol) Kitchen and Robert (Merna) Kitchen, all of Avonlea; and Linden (Maryanne) Kitchen of Atikokan, ON; one sister-in-law, Trish (Elton) Kitchen of Moose Jaw; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nephews and cousins. Marlene Rosine Kitchen was born on June 17, 1938 during the depression at Section 1, Township 12, Range 23 W2, near Truax, SK. Her proud parents were Elma (Pointer) and David Kitchen and she was the fifth child of nine siblings. Marlene attended Moorefield Country School near Truax, Sunshine Country School near Avonlea, and Avonlea School in Avonlea for grades 1 to 9. After grade nine she entered the work force as a waitress at the Town and Country Cafe in Gravelbourg, the Regent Cafe in Gravelbourg, the Avonlea Cafe in Avonlea and the Forest Lawn Hotel Cafe in Calgary, AB. In 1958 she met Louis Gall, who was renting some land near Osage from Tina Sivy. Louis and Marlene were married on June 17, 1961 at the Holy Trinity Church in Cedoux. They purchased Section 24-11-13 W2 in the R.M of Wellington #97 and began their family. Marlene and Louis had three children. Their first son, Wilfred was born on April. 28, 1962; second son, Dwight was born on September 10, 1965; and their only daughter, Karen was born on September 1, 1966. There were many good times and get togethers on the farm with family and friends. Marlene and Louis resided on the farm until October, 1991 when they retired and moved to their new residence at 64-10th Street in Weyburn while Dwight remained on the farm. Louis passed away on May 3, 1998. Marlene enjoyed gardening, auction sales, garage sales, visiting with family and friends, playing cards or games, watching movies and looking after her home. She undertook different pastimes over the years, such as selling Holiday Magic, Quazar, Amway, Avon and Tri-Chem painting. She was exceptionally gifted when using her hands to crochet afghans, baby items, doll clothes, doilies, etc., knit scarves, mitts, slippers and the making of various crafts and flower arrangements. She enjoyed collecting various items such as Avon Dolls, collector plates, collector spoons, bells, goose dishes and knick knacks, porcelain dolls, mini Barbie dolls, etc. Her love of flowers and yard ornaments showed in her yard. Marlene spent most of her time planting and caring for her garden and flower beds. Another passion of hers were the Thursday garage sale escapades with her sisters, Joyce and Sally, or daughter Karen. Marlene treated herself to the occasional bingo game or auction sale, but enjoyed quiet evenings at home watching movies or listening to music and crocheting. She relished visits from family members and friends and was always the perfect hostess. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and she loved to shop for gifts, spending the whole year searching for presents to give her family and friends. She would rather give than receive, and had plenty for all. Marlene lived a quiet, simple life, but her greatest pleasure was her complete devotion to her children and grandchildren. She was an exceptional mother and and incredibly doting grandmother. She frequently had her grandchildren stay overnight to keep her company and deeply enjoyed any time they spent with her. All five grandchildren adored her. In May 1997 she was diagnosed with breast cancer, of which she was a fighter and a survivor. Marlene began having back pain in the summer of 1998. She was diagnosed with Osteoporosis and Arthritis that fall and struggled, but continued to fight and hide her pain. She never complained or asked "why me?" Her pain and suffering became more apparent as months passed and on July 27, 1999 she was diagnosed with bone cancer. By this time it had spread significantly and continued to grow. She posed a gallant fight and was the perfect patient, never gave up hope right until the end. She lost her courageous fight on September 5, 1999. To her we owe nothing short of total admiration and respect. She was the epitome of strength and endurance. Though God granted Marlene a short life and we feel cheated that she was taken from us so young, we must learn to be grateful and feel priviledged that she came along at all. The chances of having someone so unique and special to be a part of our lives is very small and for this we will be forever grateful. She had enough love in her heart to emcompass everyone. Marlene was incredibly kind, generous, compassionate, forgiving, admirable, genuine, determined and pure of heart to the depths of her soul. Through all the adversities and trials in her life she continued to overflow with compassion and endearing qualities. All who knew her loved her. She will be dearly missed. Prayers were said Wednesday, September 8, at 7:00 p.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn. The funeral mass was held Thursday, September 9 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn, with Father Francis Hengen Celebrant. Interment followed in Cedoux Cemetery, Cedoux. All those in attendance were considered to be honorary pallbearers. The active pallbearers were: Troy Kincaid, Tony Kitchen, Don Gall, Ron Gall, Wayne Gall, and Dwayne Nelson. GAWEL - Jacob James "Jack". On September 17, 2013 Jacob Gawel passed away at Weyburn General Hospital with son, Darren, at his side. Jack�s journey of life began September 25, 1945. He was the fourth child of five children born to Harry and Wanda (nee Kopec) Gawel and was raised on the family farm one mile west of Cedoux. Jack attended grade school in Cedoux and then Queen Elizabeth School in Weyburn. He received his high school education at Weyburn Collegiate and drove bus while he attended that school. After high school Jack farmed with his Uncle Emil and began to pour cement floors and basement foundations. He later went to work for Weyburn Builders, learning construction. In 1969 Jack headed to Fernie, BC where he worked for a construction contractor, framing houses. As well he learned interior finishing. He returned back to Saskatchewan and began to work for Panteluk Road Construction. In 1973, he and his brother Ron decided to go farming. Jack was able to maintain the third generation homestead of land started by his grandfather, Jacob Gawel in 1902. He received the Century Family Farm Award for this. On July 4, 1970 Jack married Pearl Chinski. They made their home in Cedoux where they raised five children, Shelley, David, Jason, Darren and Darla. Every summer Jack would take his family on a vacation to various places in Saskatchewan, Alberta or British Columbia. They did lots of camping and fishing. Jack loved fishing and every year in June he would go on a trip to a northern Saskatchewan lake with the guys. This continued until he suffered a stroke. Aside from farming Jack continued carpentry. He built and remodeled several houses including his own home in Cedoux, the RM office in Cedoux and lastly his log cabin. Jack continued farming until 1995, when six months after having heart surgery, he had a stroke. Following two years of therapy, though not fully recovered, he was able to enjoy many more years. Jack always had a project on the go. He constructed a small paddle boat, built fishing shacks, an ultra-light airplane (built with brother, Ron) and the log cabin. His last project was supervising the restoration of an old house for his son, David. Hobbies included playing cards, going to garage and auction sales, collecting crocks and miscellaneous antiques. Another of his interests was coins. Jack was known by all for his wit and sense of humor. His humor existed throughout his illness until his journey on earth ended. We love you Jack, husband, father and grandfather. Jack was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Wanda (Kopec) Gawel; brothers, Robert, Kenneth and Ronald Gawel and brother-in-law, Ivan Hein. Jack will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 43 years, Pearl (Chinski) Gawel of Cedoux; daughter, Shelley (Dean) Paslawski of Choiceland, and their children, Tyler and Tanner; son, David Gawel of Cedoux; son, Jason Gawel of Regina, and his daughter, Kianna Paul; son, Darren (Amy Lucas) of Gibsons, BC; daughter, Darla (Deral Haner) of Sylvan Lake, AB and children, Rylan (Katie) Silljer, Shaelyssa Silljer and Bryer Silljer; sister, Patricia (Darwin) Hoimyr of Carlyle; in laws, Gunda Hein, Leo (Vicky) Chinski, Maynard (Loraine) Chinski, Paul Chinski, Julian (Pat) Chinski, Frank (Laurie) Chinski and Brian Chinski as well as several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service was held on Saturday, September 21 at 1:00 PM from Zion Lutheran Church. Officiating was Marjorie McLeod, CLA with Pastor Martin Olson assisting. Urn Bearer was grandson, Rylan Silljer. Honourary pallbearers were Jack�s grandchildren, Rylan Silljer, Tyler Paslawski, Tanner Paslawski, Kianna Paul, Shaelyssa Silljer and Bryer Silljer. The eulogy was given by Dean Paslawski. Following fellowship at Zion Lutheran Church, interment took place in Cedoux Cemetery at Cedoux. GAWEL - Melvina (nee Bukowski ) Gawel, 88, passed away March 18, 2000 in Weyburn. She was born March 25, 1911 in Cedoux, daughter of Joseph and Katherine Mus Bukowski. Melvina was married to Joseph Gawel (Joe) on October 1933. Joe and Mel farmed in the Cedoux area and moved to Weyburn in 1949. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Joe in November 1993; two brothers: Adolph Bukowski and Joseph Bukowski and one sister Polly Knox. Melvina is survived by one son, Leonard (Kay) Gawel of Ponca City, OK; three grandchildren: Drue and Sloan of Dallas, TX and Ryan of Los Angeles, CA, two brothers: Julian Bukowski and Ted Bukowski; two sisters: Violet Lauder and Lucy Leck all of Weyburn; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Prayers will be said Wednesday, March 22 at 7:00 p.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn. GAWEL - Ronald Robert. On June 29, 2010, Ronald Robert Gawel passed away at the age of 67 years. Ronald was predeceased by his parents, Herman (Harry) and Wanda Gawel and brothers, Robert and Kenneth Gawel. He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Kelley (Lesley) Gawel of Weyburn and grandsons, Alex and Kashton; his daughter, Desiree Gawel (Steven Hesterman) of Regina; his brother, Jack (Pearl) Gawel of Cedoux; his sister, Pat (Darwin) Hoimyr of Carlyle; as well as several loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Ron was born August 3, 1942 to Harry and Wanda Gawel at Weyburn. He was raised on the family farm on the outskirts of Cedoux. He attended Cedoux School, Queen Elizabeth School in Weyburn and the Weyburn Collegiate. When he first left school, Ron joined the paratroopers. Due to health reasons he was given an honourable discharge. He then worked in various places, first as a welder in Swift Current, at Radium Hot Springs, BC in parks, as a Cat operator in Fernie, BC, and as a Grader operator for Panteluk Construction. In 1973 he decided to go farming in partnership with his brother, Jack. In 2001, he retired from farming due to health reasons. In 1970, Ron married Barbara Hoffmann. They became parents of two children, Kelly and Desiree. Memories are of camping trips to Duck Mountain and Good Spirit Lake; of Dad taking Kelly to his hockey games and grandpa taking in some of grandson Alex�s home hockey games. Not only was Jack, Ron�s brother, but a life long friend; and not only did they farm together, but for several years every June after seeding, they would go on northern fishing trips together with family and friends. Ron had a passion to fly and drove to Regina in order to get his pilots licence. He didn�t buy a plane, he and Jack built one � a Pelican Club two seater. They also built a 14 foot boat. Ron liked horses, motorcycles and classic cars, once owning a Harley Davidson 45 and owned a 1973 Red Ford Torino. Ron liked to travel and in his younger years made trips to Mexico and various places in the U.S.A. as well as Western Canada. In later years, he took trips with special nephew, Darren Gawel to Tobin Lake, Deadwood, N.D. and Las Vegas. Ron loved his family, he was a kind and generous person who would give the shirt off of his back if need be. With the exception of his working years, Ron lived most of his life around or in Cedoux. In 2008, he moved to Bison manor in Weyburn where he resided until his journey on earth ended. A graveside service was held Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in Cedoux, Cemetery, Cedoux with Marj McLeod CLA officiating. Interment followed. GEIGER - Marie Emily Geiger was born on January 14, 1922 and passed away at The Village of the Station, Penticton, B.C. on June 21, 2008 at the age of 86 years, 5 months. Marie attended school at Prospect School, McTaggart, Ralph, North Weyburn, in 1937 moved with her family to the farm at Cedoux. In 1946 she went to seek employment in Weyburn, first working at the Club Cafe and later at Dron's and Vanity Dry Cleaners for several years before moving to Regina to attend Hair Dressing school. Upon completing her course she moved to Saskatoon to do hair dressing. She bought and owned her own shop in North Battleford. In 1966 she moved to Penticton, B.C. where she opened a Coffee Shop for a few years, later selling the shop and went to work at Plenty's Garden Centre from which she retired from in 1978. Marie loved flowers and had many flowers in her house and out in her yard, which she cared for constantly. She also enjoyed needle work and crocheting. Marie was predeceased by her parents George and Caroline (Messer) Geiger, sisters Kay Kautzman, Monica Geiger and Georgina Kot, also brothers-in-law Pete Kautzman, Tom Hanley, Bernard Kot and Fred Ermel. Surviving are her brothers Jack (Willene) Geiger, Black Creek, BC, Greg (Maude) Geiger, Weyburn, Ernie (Doris) Geiger, Moose Jaw, sisters Madge Hanley, Regina, Tillie Geiger, Moose Jaw, Louise (Harvey) Leibel, Pilote Butte, Frances Ermel, Regina, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held on Friday, July 4, 2008 at St. Ann Catholic Church at 11:00 pm with Rev. Father Pat Monette officiating. Interment took place at Lakeview Cemetery, Penticton, B.C. GIBBONS - Arthur "Art" Lorne (April 1941 - November 12, 2008). It is with great sadness the family of Art Gibbons announces his passing on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at Regina Pioneer Village. Art was born in Weyburn and grew up in Colfax. He worked for the Coop in Colfax for many years before moving to British Columbia to work in the mines near Fernie. Predeceased by his parents Mildred and Gilles Gibbons; brother Bob; sister Shirley Andrews; brothers-in-law, Joe Andrews and Eugene Pilsner. He is lovingly remembered by his common-law wife Darleen Mulgrew and her daughters, Darla (Len), Deb (Mark), their two children and Lisa (Rea); brother Bill (Betty); sisters, June (Lloyd), Betty (Roy), Carol, Sandra (Bob); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. On April 24, 2007, Mrs. Dilys Gibbons of Regina passed away at the age of 98 years. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Alen (Bonnie) of Regina, Jim (Judy) of Colfax, Lynn (Lorne) Herauf of Odessa, Doug (Fran) of Saskatoon, Eileen (Bill) Burrell of Edmonton and Bill (Lorna) of Weyburn; 16 grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; sister Doris Thomas of Calgary; special cousin Lil Follington of Palmyra, West Austrailia, as well as numerous other relatives and friends, both here and in Australia. She is predeceased by her husband Myril; grandson Matthew and seven siblings. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, Regina, SK, with refreshments to follow. Burial will take place in the Colfax Cemetery at approximately 4:45 p.m. GLAB - Emily Elizabeth (nee Janeczko). It is with our deepest sadness the family of Emily Elizabeth Glab announces her passing on Sunday, January 11, 2009 at the age of 93 years. Emily was born on June 23, 1915 on the family farm north of Cedoux to Rose and Anthony Janeczko into a family of eight children. She attended Polish Draw School near Cedoux and then went to work in various cities including Regina, Vancouver, Moose Jaw, Harvey, Illinois and Windsor, Ontario. On July 11, 1944 she married John Glab at Cedoux. They farmed south of Cedoux and raised their six children; five sons and one daughter: Joe, Tom, Jerry, Marvin, Marilyn and John. In 1983 they retired to Weyburn where Emily continued to reside even after being widowed in 1991. At the time of her passing she was a resident at Weyburn Special Care Nursing Home. As a loving mother and grandmother she lived her life for her family. She would do anything for any of us at anytime. Without exception her first thoughts were always for the well being of others. The majority of her life was spent on the farm where she would cook her amazing meals with her delicious fried chicken and fresh vegetables from the garden. And the garden, Oh My, what a garden! Her love of gardening was shown by the many hours spent caring for her special plants and flowers. Mom was always a very independent woman and strong in character but never wavered from her love for her family. Her interests and hobbies were many � she enjoyed first and foremost gardening, sewing, upholstering, cooking, baking and playing the accordion. She enjoyed the companionship of family and friends � family being very important to her � she definitely was the "wind beneath our wings". She leaves us to be reunited with her husband John, one son, Larry, brothers � John, Edmund, Theodore and Edward, sisters � Frances and Mary. Emily's memory will always be treasured and cherished by sons: Joe (Mary) of Cedoux, Tom (Anne) of Saskatoon, Jerry (Shelley) of Weyburn, Marvin (Brenda) of Regina, John (Julie) of Weyburn and one daughter, Marilyn (Roy) of Calgary, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Emily is also survived by a sister: Victoria Beahun, Kelowna, B.C.; sisters-in-law Rosie Janeczko, Vernon, B.C., Florence Janeczko, Regina and Mary Janeczko, Weyburn as well as numerous nieces, nephews and step grandchildren. A Funeral mass was held at St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn on Thursday, January 15 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Gerry Bauche celebrant. Pallbearers were Tyler Glab, Teresa Kerr, Scott Nesbitt, Jason Nesbitt, Michael Glab, Mellissa Glab, Michelle Glab and Alicia Nesvold. Interment followed at Cedoux Cemetery. GOSKI - Bernadine Victoria (nee Schaefer) Goski passed away suddenly on Monday August 6, 2007 at Moose Jaw at the age of 82 years. Bernadine was born on February 16, 1925 in Weyburn, to Peter and Katherine Schaefer. She was the only daughter, amidst eight brothers. She grew up on a small farm in the Osage area where hard work was the normal everyday occurrence. Bernadine married Anthony (Tony) Goski on November 24, 1954 in Cedoux. During the 39 years they were married they raised eight children in a small house on the farm, just outside Cedoux. Friends and family were always welcomed to drop by for coffee, supper and cards. Bernadine, Tony and their friends enjoyed cards and at many times the card games went into the wee hours of the morning. Often the children would wake up in time to go to school and find their parents and friends still playing cards. Our mom always had a large garden, with no weeds. The family ate off the garden all winter long. Mom worked hard on the farm for many years to support her family. She could carry milk almost as fast as her husband. In fact they had a race one time to see who could get to the house the quickest, to which Tony won, but only by a couple of steps. In her downtime, which was scarce in the early days, she was awesome at knitting and crocheting. Many people came to her for advice on what needed to be done to fix what they were working on. In later years, she did needlepoint and plastic canvas. This was a hobby she continued, right up till the time of her passing. Among the other things she enjoyed, mom also enjoyed playing the accordion and dancing. She would play the accordion while we tried to polka around the house. She will be missed greatly. We will miss you mom and grandma. Bernadine was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Katherine Schaefer; her husband Tony Goski; brothers: Martin, Peter, Lawrence, Leonard, Steve and Thomas in infancy; a sister Frances in infancy; godson Gord Schaefer, niece Barbara McConnell(nee Schaefer); her in laws and several nieces and nephews. GOSKI - Damon Jay Goski passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 4, 2003 with his family by his side. Predeceased by his grandparents Mona Campbell and John Goski. Damon is survived by his wife and best friend, Tanis; parents Jack and Jean (Campbell); brother Darren (Nanette) and special nephew Kaden; brother Darby; parents-in-law Brian and Terry Webster; sisters-in-law Erin and Mackenzie; grandparents Catherine Goski and Eldon Campbell; aunts and uncles Gerald Goski, Virginia Goski, Laurie (Denise) Campbell; cousins Tara (Jeff) and Lauren McKinney; Tracie Campbell and Ryan Campbell. Damon was born on October 14, 1975 in Weyburn and spent his early years on the farm at Cedoux. Following graduation from Weyburn Comprehensive High School he attended the University of Saskatchewan obtaining his Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1997. While there he met his wife, Tanis Webster of Hearne, marrying her on March 21, 1998. Following graduation they moved to Regina where Damon began his accounting career with Deloitte and Touche. He obtained his Chartered Accountant designation in 2000. Damon enjoyed all kinds of sports, both as an observer and as a participant. He played football, rugby, volleyball, track and field, curling and loved snowmobiling. Damon was a true farm boy at heart. Most holidays were spent at one of the two family farms helping out wherever he could. Damon had a lot of fun with everything he did. All he attempted in life from school to work to a new game or recipe was done with great enthusiasm and energy. Damon was admired, respected and loved by everyone he met. His loss will leave a great hole in our lives. Jennie Rose was born in Weyburn, Northwest Territories on June 24, 1904. Jennie lived in Cedoux, Saskatchewan prior to residing in Regina. Her greatest pleasure was her beautiful flowers and great garden. She loved canning and preserving the harvest from her garden, which she shared with family and friends. She will be remembered for her love for her family, her hard work, and her beautiful smile she gave to everyone. It was always a delight to enjoy a good joke and laugh over a cup of tea with her goodies. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all. Goski, late of Weyburn, passed away at the Weyburn General Hospital at the age of 91 years. Predeceased by his parents, John and Frances Goski; four brothers: Martin, Joseph W. (Joe), Frank and Anthony (Tony) Goski; three sisters: Annie Paslawski, Rose Mus and Mary Leck; two half sisters: Katherine Hallick and Agnes Hallick. John is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Catherine Goski of Weyburn; two sons and one daughter: Gerald Goski of Weyburn; Virginia Goski of Ottawa, ON and Jack (Jean) Goski of Cedoux; three grandsons: Darren (Nanette) Goski of Regina; Darby Goski of Colfax and Damon (Tanis) Goski of Regina; and one great grandson, Kaden Goski. John was born November 1, 1911 at Cedoux. He grew up on the farm and attended school at Krakow School. On August 19, 1936 he married Catherine Borys at Cedoux. They farmed in the Cedoux area until his retirement in 1977, when they moved into Cedoux. They lived there for 12 years, then moved to Weyburn in 1989. John was a member of Holy Trinity Church in Cedoux and was on the council. He was on the Polish Draw School Board, the Local Telephone Board and involved with the Cedoux Community Hall. He enjoyed playing cards, dancing, visiting, and gardening during his years in Weyburn. Catherine and John celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a come and go tea, and enjoyed visiting with all their family and friends. John enjoyed people and swapping stories with his friends. On Thursday, June 1, 2000, Bill Griffiths, late of Weyburn, and formerly of Colfax, passed away at the Regina Pasqua Hospital, at the age of 72 years. Predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Fern Griffiths; and by his father-in-law, Frank Reitze. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Judy Griffiths of Weyburn; two step-daughters: Tammy Weiss (Kevin) Milne of Regina, and Ammie Weiss of Weyburn; mother-in-law, Rose Reitze of Weyburn; one brother-in-law, Don (Janet) Reitze of Red Deer, AB; his uncle, Henry Reitze of Medicine Hat, AB; as well as several cousins. Bill was born January 23, 1928 in Regina, the only son of Herbert and Fern Griffiths. He was raised in Colfax in a nurturing and loving environment, and enjoyed spending holidays with his cousins in Benson and Stoughton. He took his schooling up to grade 12 at Colfax, then at the University of Regina studying Arts and Science for one year, then on to the University of Saskatoon where he studied Commerce. Bill worked in the family general store and post office in Colfax, then took over from his father until 1994. His family ran this business from 1924 to 1994. Bill was secretary/treasurer for Colfax Community Hall, the curling club and many other organizations over the years. He enjoyed children and drove the school bus. Bill also enjoyed sports - curling, golf, football and baseball. He pitched for the Colfax Cardinals and was a baseball coach for teenage boys for many years. He travelled to Switzerland for the World's Curling Championships, and toured Great Britain and Europe, where he visited relatives. Music was a big part of Bill's life. He played the violin and piano, and enjoyed singing. He belonged to the United Church all his life and was on the Board at Colfax United Church. He also sang in the choir throughout the years. He loved to paint and sketch, and painted many scenes of Colfax, which are treasured by his family and friends. He also read extensively. He enjoyed travelling the U.S and Canada with his Uncle Gordon. On April 11, 1998 Bill married Judy at Grace United Church, Weyburn. Bill was kind, gentle, patient and modest, honest and caring. He touched many people's lives and will be sadly missed. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, June 6, at 2:00 p.m. from Grace United Church, Weyburn, with Bill Corkum and Marilyn Anderson Corkum officiating ministers. GRONNERUD - Harold Russell Gronnerud passed away on Sunday, July 25, 1999 in the Weyburn General Hospital at the age of 87. Harold was predeceased by his parents, brothers Orvin and Ralph, granddaughter Janine and brother-in-law Laird. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Cherie, his four children Jim (Wallis), Glenn (Pat), Judy (Barry), Bud (Linda), his grandchildren Michael (Pam), Dean, Lynn, Jeffrey (Jody), Jason (Julie), Shane, Shelly (Kevin), and Michael, ten grandchildren, sisters Mildred (Myron) and Margy and numerous nieces and nephews. Harold was born on the family farm in Lewvan, SK on April 26, 1912. He spent his growing up years in California, Florida and Minnesota, returning to Lewvan, where he farmed up until the time of his death. Harold was very involved with his local community, serving as superintendent of Lewvan United Church, Director of the Co-op Board (as well as being manager during the war years) and a member of the Lewvan Community Control. His many contributions to municipal and provincial affairs include S.A.R.M., Crop Insurance Board, Crimes Compensation Board, Cancer Commission and the Rail Abandonment Committee. He was a member of the O.E.S. and the Masonic Lodge for many years. Funeral service was held on Thursday, July 29 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ, Weyburn, SK, with Pastor Russell Ferris officiating. GRONNERUD - James Russell Gronnerud died peacefully at 2:17 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at Pioneer Village, Regina, at the age of 61. He is survived by his wife Wallis, her three sons: Murray (Tracey), Philip, and William; his brothers: Bud (Linda) and Glenn (Pat); his sister Judy (Barry) Farr; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. On December 23, 1995, Jim survived a crash in his own plane, after which he lived in hospitals, rehabilitation centres and care homes until his passing. In his last two years, he was happiest at Pioneer Village where he made many good friends among the residents and staff there. Jim enjoyed a life of diversity and travel. He excelled in the fields of petroleum engineering in the Middle East, farming near Lewvan and flying for pleasure and crop spraying. Jim often said he liked to fly more than anything else in the world. (Those who knew Jim know what he meant.) Jim's skills and abilities as a pilot were second to none. So when his airplane crashed, those of us who knew Jim's flying ability also knew that it was not Jim's fault that he crashed. It became evident as the years went by that God used Jim's condition for healing him inside. As Jim's body grew frail, his heart, soul and spirit were healed. Jim became a new man before he went to be with the Lord. For this we are thankful. "Looking down on golden wings, may you fly forever" (quote from his brother, Bud). A funeral service was held at Pioneer Village chapel on July 23. Interment at Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Weyburn. GUNIA - Barney John Gunia was born December 3, 1913, the eldest of five children born to Polish immigrants who had settled in the Cedoux area. He was an excellent student, obtaining his grade 9 by correspondence, but like many from his generation it was necessary for him to leave his schooling for work. Barney enjoyed music and dancing, although you would never see him on the dance floor, he was content just to be there watching the festivities. As a young man he worked on the family farm and other neighbouring farms. In 1979 he was recognized by the RM of Wellington for 30 years of dedicated service, with the majority of that time as a bridge and culvert foreman. Barney was a natural handyman never satisfied until the job was done just right, sometimes much to the dismay of those less patient. He was always interested in repairing anything that needed attention and was happy to be called upon by family or friends to help with renovation or construction projects. He delighted in taking something someone else had discarded and restoring it to working order. He was a man of few words, and easily entertained. Not wanting to be the center of attention, he was quite happy to observe and enjoy the fun from a distance. Barney spent most of his life in Cedoux, retiring to Weyburn in 1982. Due to declining health he entered Hillview Manor in Estevan in the summer of 2001 and in 2005 made the move to the Weyburn Special Care Home where he would be closer to his family. On Wednesday, January 23, 2008, Barney left this world just as he had lived his life, quietly, peacefully and without any fuss. Barney was predeceased by his parents, John and Irene Gunia; brother Edwin, brothers-in-law, James Strange and Sidney Wilson. Barney will be lovingly remembered by his three sisters: Wilhelmina Wilson of Weyburn, Adele Strange of Brownsburg, Indiana, USA and Phyllis (John) Leck of Shellbrook, one sister-in-law, Mary Gunia of Weyburn, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. On Thursday, June 5, 2008, Anton "Tony" Hallick passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital at the age of 90 years. Tony will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Mary Hallick of Medicine Hat, AB, and their five children: sons: Steven (Gloria) of Medicine Hat; Gordon (Gail) of Edmonton, AB; Glenn (Kim) of Weyburn; Brian (Carla) of Medicine Hat; daughter Bernice (Harold) Grane of Regina; nine grandchildren: Scot (Susan), Mark (Jennifer), Lane, Anthony, Chelsea, Matthew, Aimee, Brianne and Dylan; one brother Kasper; one sister Rose Miller; sister-in-law Irene Hallick, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Tony was predeceased by his parents, Mike and Agnes Hallick; one brother John Hallick; sister Mary Twarowski. Tony was born May 6, 1918 at Colfax. He served in World War II from 1940 to 1945 following which he met Mary Kyrylchuk and they were married October 23, 1946. Tony and Mary farmed near Weyburn for 40 years before selling the farm and retiring to Medicine Hat in 1990. Tony enjoyed working in his shop, going for walks, and visiting. He was a very independent man and will be remembered for his friendly nature and wonderful sense of humor. On Wednesday, July 5, 2000, Mary Hanson, late of Fillmore Union Health Center, passed away peacefully at the age of 82 years. Born on December 22, 1917 at Cedoux, she was predeceased by her husband Grant in 1967; parents John and Caroline Chowaniec; sisters, Anne and Florence; brother Philip. Mary will be deeply missed by her sons Garry (Janice) and Terry (Marilyn); grandchildren: Robin (Glenn) Wiens, Rhonda (Alan) Emde, Mark (Anndi) Hanson, Angela (Don) Lubiens, Kerry, Karla and Corey Hanson; sister, Helen Welta, Sophie (Clarence) Leas, Ruth (Quin) Mann, Wanda (Elmer) Hart and brother Rudy (Theresa) Chowaniec; numerous nieces and nephews. To many of the young boys of the district she was simply Akela, head of the wolf pack. Being Cub Master for more than 20 years, she then went on to achieve her Gilwell Scout Award. As a 4-H judge and leader, Mary spent many hours with young people. Her many interests in nature included her flowers, rocks and wildlife. She had a passion for travel, reading and taking her grandchildren on cookouts. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. HARKER - Edwin was born on August 15, 1924 at Lewvan, SK and passed away on February 7, 2014 at Echo Lodge, Fort Qu'Appelle. He was predeceased by his parents Edward and Evelyn Harker; brothers Wayne, Jack and Doug; and brother-in-law Hugh Robertson. Edwin's memory will be cherished by his loving wife Marlene; children Janice and Paul (Kendra); grandchildren Dillen, Eva and Cash; brother Lloyd (June); sisters Jean, Nelda (Bev) and Judy (Leroy); and numerous nieces and nephews. Edwin lived the majority of his life in the Lewvan area, where he was a successful farmer and an active member of the community. His love of sports began with baseball, hockey and curling, and went on to include skiing and golf. He and Marlene retired in 1991 and moved to Lake Katepwa, where they joined the Fort Qu'Appelle community and Edwin was involved with Lions, golf and curling. His dedication to hard work, love of family, and commitment to community made him a loved uncle, neighbour and friend. HOEVING - Tina Kathrina (nee Malinowski) Hoeving died September 25, 2001 at the age of 92 years. Predeceased by her parents, Albert and Kathrina Malinowski; her husband, Matthew, January 7, 1989; four brothers and three sisters in Poland. Tina is survived by her children: Barbara (David) Brown of Claremont, CA; Jerry (Arlene) Hoeving of Regina; and Phillip (Sharon) Hoeving of Weyburn; six grandchildren: Blair (Lisa) Brown, Gary (Christine) Brown Todd (Jackie) Brown, Justin (Dawn) Brown, Lorie Lynn Hoeving and Jason Hoeving; five great grandchildren: Brandon, Marnie, Katherine, Madeline and Jordan; one brother, Albert Malinowski of Poland; as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Poland. Tina was born March 16, 1909 in Krakow, Poland. She was the third oldest of a family of nine; three sisters: Mary, Sophie, Anna; five brothers: Karl, Walter, Joseph, John and Albert still living in Poland. Tina immigrated to Canada at age 18 years working on a farm near Cedoux. She assisted with cooking for the 'hired' men at times as many as 26. She then worked at the Royal Hotel preparing food and waiting on tables. Her next venture was to work at the then fashionable Champlain Hotel, Regina. Jobs were at a preimum and wages low ($15.00 monthly). Tina married Matthew Hoeving November 22, 1932. Matthew and Tina lived in the Talmage area where their three children were born and raised. Tina was known as an avid gardener and she was renown for her cooking and baking. Her grandchildren recall her famous plum perogies. Each and everyone of her children and grandchildren are in possession of her feather comforters. Her generosity and hospitality were well known as friends and neighbours and were always welcome into her home receiving a huge banquet. While in the Talmage district she was an active member of the Talmage Homemakers Club. She was a member of Weyburn St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, also a member of St. Mary's Altar Society. Matt and Tina enjoyed dancing and carpet bowling, and later in life, their summer cottage at Kenosee Lake. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary November 27, 1982. Tina resided at Souris Valley Extended Care Centre until her passing. Prayers were held Friday, September 28, at 7:30 p.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church. Predeceased by her loving husband Eugene Innes; father and mother, Norman and Florence Goodhew; three sisters, Thelma, Minnie (Goodie) and Kathleen; and one brother George (Carp). Toots is survived by her son Stuart (Heather) and two grandchildren, Karen and Dylan; two sister-in-laws, Freda Goodhew and Hazel Innes; and five nephews. Born and raised in Davidson, she spent few years in Regina before marrying Eugene Innes in 1947. Raised one son Stuart. INNES - Eugene Wallace Innes passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 10, 2005. Born in Corinne, Sask. on August 17, 1916. Eugene served in the Army RCCS 5th Canadian Armoured Divisional Signals from October 1940 until September 1945. During that time he served in the U.K., Continental Europe and the Mediterranean. After his return from the war, Eugene bought a farm in Lewvan, Sask. in 1946 and farmed until 2000. In the following years he continued to help his son. On July 10, 1947 he married Bessie Lydia Goodhew. He was predeceased by his parents Alex and Hannah, brothers Kenneth, Charles, Stuart and William, and sister Eva. Eugene is survived by his loving wife, Bessie Toots: son Stuart (Heather) and children Dylan and Karen; one sister Hazel and several nephews and nieces. Eugene curled, golfed, bowled and was an avid duplicate bridge player. Most of all, he loved his grandchildren. His grandson says He grew the best garden potatoes EVER. JANECZKO - Edward Anthony. On November 25, 2005, Edward Anthony Janeczko, late of Weyburn, passed away at the Regina Pasqua Hospital at the age of 77 years. Predeceased by his mother and father, Rose and Anthony Janeczko, and by three brothers: John, Ted and Edmund Janeczko, two sisters: Mary Kolton and Francis Skiba, and one brother in infancy. Edward is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Mary Janeczko, and their son, Gerald (Angela) Janeczko; two sisters: Emily Glab and Vickie (Bill) Beahun, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Edward Anthony Janeczko was born July 4, 1928 at Cedoux. He was raised on the farm near Cedoux by his parents, Anthony and Rose Janeczko along with his four brothers, John, Ted, Edmund and a brother who passed away in infancy, and four sisters, Mary, Francis, Emily and Vickie. He took over the large responsibility of the family farm at an early age, and farming became the main focus of his life along with his wife and son. He attended Polish Draw School in Cedoux, then attended school in Regina. Later, during his farming years, he also took courses in Saskatoon (i.e. welding, etc.). On November 30, 1968 Ed married Mary Burba at St. Anthony Church in Regina. He and Mary lived on the farm from 1968 to 1996, when they moved to Weyburn. He did other jobs during and alongside the farming: drove gravel truck, Westell, Simpson Sears, the post office, mechanic at an International dealership, caretaker, and assisted at auction sales. Ed collected old radios, clocks, antique farm tractors and antiques in general. He enjoyed woodworking, doing projects like building birdhouses and yard ornaments. He loved to travel to Alberta to visit his son and his wife and to help them with their house and yard projects. Edward was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Knights of Columbus and was an usher at church, which he attended every week. He loved helping farmers at seeding and harvest time, and helping fellow neighbours and friends with their homes and yards, and fixing and building just about anything. He was the most kind, gentle, giving, generous father and family person, always there to protect and take care of Mary and Gerald and all those close to him. Edward was a great man, a great farmer, a great husband and a great father. A funeral mass was held Monday, November 28 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn, with Father Gerry Bauche Celebrant. Prayers were said Sunday, November 27 at 7:00 p.m. from Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn. JENKINS - Morgan Jones Jenkins passed away peacefully on January 20, 2006 at the age of 78 years. Morgan is predeceased by his parents Bert and Louise and Uncle Frank (step dad). Morgan will be deeply missed by his wife of 49 years, Evelyn; sons Greg (Darlene), Wayne (Renata), and grandchildren Shawn, Mark, Lindsay and Jared and his grand dog Chevy, along with his surviving brothers, David, Tom (Myrna), John (June) and sister Margaret (Max) Schaffer; as well as several nieces and nephews. Morgan worked for the Saskatchewan Transportation Company for 35 years. He was a very active volunteer with various organizations throughout his life, ie. Scouts, Air Cadets, the Buffalo Day Parade and ACT (Associated Canadian Travelers). He also belonged to Bruce Lodge No. 36 of Francis. KLEIN - Marjorie Klein. It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Marjorie Klein on Monday, September 7, 2009 at William Albert House in Emerald Park, SK at the age of 80 years. A lifelong resident of Saskatchewan, she was predeceased by her beloved parents Charles and Josephine (nee Kotowicz) Klein. Aunt Marj will be greatly missed by her only brother and sister-in-law Jack and Shirley Klein of Kelowna, BC and her nephews and niece: Mark (Shelley) Klein of Rockford, IL, Catherine (Jose) Lebioda of Emerald Park, SK, Bradford (Maureen) Klein of Regina, SK, Luke (Maggie Clark) Klein of Scottsdale, AZ and Michael (Jeffrey Ward) Klein of Washington, DC. She was also the loving great and great-great aunt to numerous Klein progeny. Marj was born March 10, 1929 in Cedoux, SK, the firstborn child to her loving parents. After her father died in 1940, she moved with her mother and brother to Regina. After high school, she began working at the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, (as did her father before her) where she was employed until her retirement in 1985. Marj was known for her quick wit as well as her love for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. During her retirement, Marj and her mom enjoyed vacationing in Kelowna, Arizona and Hawaii. She loved taking part in the many family gatherings we enjoyed together and in keeping up with her friends from the Wheat Pool. In her later years, she briefly resided at Queen Victoria Estates in Regina, where she had many dear friends, before moving to Emerald Park. Jack and Shirley, and Cathy's brothers are grateful to Cathy for the untiring care she provided Aunt Marj during these later years. KNOUSE - Phyllis Eileen (nee Winter) September 17, 1919 - January 4, 2008. Phyllis passed away peacefully on Friday, January 4, 2008 at Pioneer Village Nursing Home where she was receiving respite care. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Mabel Winter; husband, Arthur in 1974; 4 brothers: Alf, Harold, Gliss and Jack; 3 sisters: Grace Murray, Florence Hamilton and Gladys Olver. Phyllis will be deeply missed by her children, Wayne (Donna) and Florence (Gary) Nicholas and by her grandchildren, Annette (Ken) Allen, Dale (Carolyn) Knouse, Chad (Carrie) Nicholas and Joel Knouse. She was always devoted to her family and most recently derived great joy from her 9 great granddaughters: Emma, Megan and Kalla Nicholas; Cassandra, Jocelyn and twins Gabrielle and Catrina Knouse; and Paige and Hayley Allen. Phyllis was born and educated at Yellow Grass, Sask., growing up on her parents' farm where she and Art were married in 1938. They began farming in the Prairie Cona District, south-west of Lewvan. They soon became active in the Lewvan community and later Yellow Grass. Phyllis was always an equal partner, helping out where needed, whether it be in grain fields or raising chickens and gardening. She continued her dedication as Wayne's helper after Art's untimely death. Phyllis was always supportive of family wherever called upon which was often. She was devoted to her Christian faith and service, whether it be her many years of teaching Sunday School, working on special projects or faithful attendance in Lewvan, Yellow Grass, Weyburn or Regina. KnoxMetropolitan, in particular the Amity U.C.W. Unit, held a prominent role in Phyllis' life. Phyllis always valued many friendships in Yellow Grass and later Rainbow Towers and Marian Chateau Retirement Villa in Regina. Many folks were fortunate to be recipients of her caring ways. Travel continued to be one of her passions as she continued to travel south to Weslaco, Texas, as she and Dad had done, as well as enjoying bus tours with her travel buddies. On Monday, September 20, 2010, Ken Kopec passed away in the Weyburn General Hospital, at the age of 57, with his four children by his side. Ken was predeceased by his grandparents, John and Katie Kopec, and Karol and Anna Plonka. He is survived by his children: Ron (Jenn) Kopec of Weyburn and their children, Hunter, Houston, Branson, Bowen; Michelle (Mike) Sabourin of Weyburn and their children, Brodie, Hailey and Jenaya; Gary (Sheena) Kopec of Weyburn and their sons, Wylie and Mekhi; Tracy (Chris) Roncin of Weyburn and their children, Jacia and Preston; parents Leo and Rose Kopec of Weyburn; brothers and sisters: Debbie (Lynden) Guest, Rick (Dorothy) Kopec, Barry (Sharon) Kopec, Kelly (Raymond) Paslawski, Coralee (Jerry) Ewanchyna; mother of their children, Nancy Kopec of Weyburn as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ken was born February 14, 1953 in Weyburn. He was raised on a farm northeast of Cedoux by his mom and dad, along with his five siblings. Ken spent his childhood helping out on the family farm. He attended Cedoux School for Grades 1-6, Queen Elizabeth School for Grade 7, followed by the Weyburn Junior Highschool and Weyburn Comprehensive Highschool. Ken graduated from highschool in 1971. Following graduation, Ken went to work for Addison & Lane, a service rig company. A few years later he went to work for Addico Drilling. Ken started farming on his own in the mid 1970�s. Ken devoted nearly all of his time to farming. He was a proud farmer and a hard worker. He poured his heart and soul into farming and it showed. He always took care of his land and grew good crops and he loved to check them every night. In 2002 his son Gary joined him in the farming operation and they continued to farm together until his death. His spirit will live on in his farm forever. On December 28, 1973 he married Nancy. Together they had four children. Son, Ron, the oldest, was born in 1974, followed by daughter Michelle in 1976, son Gary in 1981 and daughter Tracy in 1984. Over the years he gained two daughters-in-law and two sons-in-law and eleven grandchildren. In 1983, he built a house east of Cedoux, where he raised his family and based his farming operations out of. He continued living there until his death. Ken was a modest man. He loved to visit with family, neighbors and friends. He always enjoyed a good five gallon pail visit, talking about farming and life. He always had a warm welcome and a big smile when someone came to his place. Ken loved the company of his four children, and their spouses - and they, his. He was always there to listen without judgement, and to offer advice and words of wisdom. From Christmas gatherings, to birthday celebrations, bonfires and more - there are so many special memories his children will cherish. Ken loved to play with his grandchildren. His face would light up with joy whenever they were near. He loved to spoil them, and never hesitated to fill them up with candy and pop. Ken was a wonderful man. He was kind and generous. He never put himself first. Even when he was struggling with his illness, he was always concerned about everyone else. He never showed signs of weakness. He overcame obstacles with strength and courage, beginning with his premature birth to his battle with cancer this past year. Ken was a wonderful father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. KOPEC - Leo Leonard Kopec was born on August 5, 1927 on a farm northeast of Cedoux and attended Cedoux School. He then helped his dad on the farm, and in the winter months would cut lumber in Ontario or work with his brother-in-law, Jack McLellan, in British Columbia. In 1952 Leo married Rose Plonka in the Holy Trinity Church at Cedoux. They remained on the family farm, where they raised six children. One of Leo�s greatest accomplishments was building a new house for his family. Farming was Leo�s life, from farming with his dad, to farming with his sons. One of his proudest moments was receiving the �Century Family Farm� award. The farm was always a gathering place, from playing cards to special occasions, many good memories were shared. In the late 80�s they spent the winter months travelling to Las Vegas, Reno, Disneyland, Florida, Texas and Mexico. In 1991 Leo and Rose retired to Weyburn. Leo still drove out to the farm and kept farming. In 2010 Leo�s health began to fail and in 2012 he moved into the Weyburn Special Care Home. Although his body was failing, his mind stayed sharp. In 2015 Rose joined him at the Care Home so they could be together. Leo was predeceased by his parents, John and Katherine Kopec; sons, Ken and Rick Kopec; brothers, Frank and Stan Kopec; sisters, Wanda (Harry) Gawel and Edna (Ken) Wallace and brother-in-law, Jack McLellan. KOPEC - Ollie Sonia (nee Baranowski) Kopec, late of Weyburn, passed away May 28, 2014, at the age of 83 years. Ollie was predeceased by her parents: Michael and Barbara Baranowski; husband Val Kopec; son Cliff Kopec; as well as six brothers and two sisters. Ollie is survived by her daughter Barbara Kopec (Ron McLeod), Weyburn; grandsons: Anthony (Bryn) Kopec, Weyburn, and their children [Dayton and Grayson], Nathan Kopec, Weyburn; three sisters: Stella (Bob) Zadworny, Saskatoon, Maryann Barlow, Vancouver, BC, Sylvia (Eugene) Lozinsky, Saskatoon; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. As we held Mom�s hands in love and prayer during the last hours of her life, I looked, really looked, at her hands and thought "if these hands could talk..." Little Olga�s hands were born on the homestead farm NW of Krydor, SK to Michael and Barbara Baranowsky. She was the eleventh of 12 children. Growing up, Mom�s hands played guitar and mandolin. She and younger sister Sylvia won second at an amateur talent hour. Mom loved school � her hands took grade 9 and 10 by correspondence and at 16 she moved to Prince Albert to complete grade 11 and 12. Mom�s hands learned typing and shorthand at a business college in Prince Albert. Mom moved to Regina and her hands worked in an office at the downtown Simpson Sears store. Mom relocated to Weyburn. She completed a dental assistant course and her hands worked with Dr. Roston. When a dental program was started in public schools, she travelled with a dentist to schools in Weyburn area providing student check-ups. Mom�s hands got an office job at the Weyburn Health Region. It was during this time Ollie met Val at a church dance. Their hands were joined in marriage February 20, 1954. A year later they moved to the farm one mile north of Cedoux. Mom�s hands held her babies Barbara and Clifford. Mom�s hands belonged to the Cedoux Ladies Altar Society. One summer in the late 60s Mom�s hands cooked three meals a day for a crew of about 25 men who were building Highway 35. Mom loved the farm. Her hands helped Dad to harvest, raised chickens and geese, weeded gardens and milked cows. Her hands made jams, baked buns, made thousands of pyrohy, and cooked many meals for family and friends. Mom worked as a waitress at the El Rancho and then the newly built Weyburn Inn. She loved this job. Mom�s hands served many people, she enjoyed the people she met and made their dining out the best evening it could be. Mom�s hands welcomed grandsons Anthony and Nathan. In 1985, Mom�s hands held her tear-filled tissues as she suffered the loss of Cliff. After this tragedy, Anthony and Nathan gave my parents a purpose in life. During the boys� school lives, grandma Ollie�s hands tied skates, clapped for them at all their sports events, shopped for them and hugged them all the time. When Grandpa Val taught the boys to drive at a very early age, Grandma Ollie�s hands held on to the dash when they took her out for a moonlight drive. Mom�s hands opened the door to her home to many people. Mom and Dad loved people and could make friends with people of all ages. Barbara�s dates quite often would end up spending the evening watching hockey with Cliff and visiting with Val and Ollie. Even her grandsons loved to bring their friends to the farm. Mom and Dad retired from farming in 1994. Mom�s hands wholeheartedly tended to her farmyard � the garden got a little smaller � she planted more flowers, cut more grass and cleaned more trees. Ollie held out her hands and welcomed son-in-law Ron McLeod to our family in 1997. When Anthony decided to marry, Grandma�s hands embraced Bryn to our family in 2005. Mom�s hands lovingly held great granddaughter Dayton in 2006. Dayton called her Baba. Ollie�s hands folded in prayer and got a little weaker when she had to say goodbye to Val in June 2008. Great-grandson Grayson first felt the love of Baba�s hands in November 2008. Mom�s hands loved shopping, fashion, home decorating and crocheting...all done with love and perfection. My fondest memory is Mom�s hands inside of Dad�s hands as they danced together in our kitchen or at a hall somewhere. Once again Mom and Dad are together dancing. Ollie�s hands are once again embracing all those who have gone before her. A special thank you to Dr. Phillip Fong, the nurses and caregivers of House 7 of Tatagwa View for the kind and wonderful care given to Mom over the past two and a half years. Survived by his wife, Ruth, of 40 years; stepsons: Kevin, Kenny, Doug O'Neil; stepdaughter: Sandra Bills and step-grandson: Byron Eaton; brother: Leo, and wife Rose Kopec of Cedoux; sisters Kaye MacLellen of New Westminster; Edna Wallace of Red Deer; and predeceased by mother, Katie Ciasnocha Kopec; father John Anthony Kopec; sister Wanda Gawel of Weyburn and Cedoux. Stanley will be remembered for his generosity of love and kindness for his family, his humour and passion for the game. A private service will be held in Cedoux. KOPEC - Stella Ann (nee Plonka) Kopec was born in Bielska Biela, Poland to Karol & Anna Plonka on July 6th, 1922. Grandma was the eldest of eight children. Grandma immigrated to Canada when she was seven years old along with her parents and brother Cles. Grandma met the love of her life when she worked for him looking after his two young daughters - Virginia and Lorraine. Grandpa soon realized that Grandma was not just only a nanny, she was a very special lady and wanted her to be his wife. This day began when she told Grandpa that she was going to hop on a train and head to Ontario to find a job. That is when he asked her to marry him. Grandpa & Grandma were married on July 20, 1949 at the Weyburn Court House. On November 18, 1950, they welcomed their first child, a son, James Edward Kopec. Four years later, a daughter was born on December 28, 1954, Cheryl Ann Kopec. A third child, a daughter Peggy (Margaret Mary) Kopec was born on January 24, 1959. Grandma & Grandpa raised their five children on a homestead near Cedoux. Grandma & Grandpa moved to Weyburn in 1975 where they were the caretakers for an apartment which they lived in. Before they moved into Weyburn Grandma got a job at the Weyburn Special Care Home where she started out in laundry part time and then moved on to fulltime working in the kitchen. Grandma had a love for gardening. She loved her flowers specifically pansies. She was an avid crocheter, knitter and loved doing petty point pictures. She loved making afghans for all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her favorite color was purple. Grandma was dedicated friend and card player. She also had a love for bingo. Another thing that Grandma was famous for was her perogies and her grasshopper pie. Christmas will just not be the same without her perogies and grasshopper pie. Grandma loved playing Sequence and was a fierce competitor. You would all be amazed what she was capable of saying. One last thing I want to mention is the wooden blocks Grandma had. As kids we couldn�t wait to get over to her house to play with these blocks. There was a fight to see who could get to them first. As we got older and started having kids of our own it was her great grandchildren that would now play with them. She loved to watch the kids and how much joy the kids got out of playing with them. Grandma died on May 31, 2011. She was 88 years old. Her sister Janice died on this very same day 16 years ago, May 31, 1995. Val returned to Cedoux to keep one foot on the farm while working at MacDonald's Shoes and at Barber Motors as a bodyman's helper. Val worked with a seismograph crew in Peace River, AB and with a crew in the Weyburn area. But all Val wanted to do was farm. When he met Ollie at a Weyburn Church dance, he found his partner. They married and together started farming the family farm. At the age of ten, Val started taking piano lessons. A hidden talent was discovered and after that if there was a piano in the room, that's where Val would be. Passed on to Val from his dad was a love and respect for horses. Val enjoyed dancing and when Val and Ollie started square dancing there was no stopping them on what they would do to earn their badges! Val treasured the friendships of the many good people he met through square dancing. Val wrote the exams needed to become a projectionist and he worked at the Soo Theatre and drive-in from 1970-1976. Val was an avid reader and read everything he could on a wide range of subjects. Whenever you stopped to talk to Val, you knew you would hear a story or a joke. The last adventure in Val's life was, as he said, his best. In 1997, Val was hired by Great Plains Ford as a driver and in 2001 he became their head driver. This job was perfect! He liked traveling, seeing new places and meeting new people. This led to the sharing of the driving with Al Tosczak on the trips that Al made with his collector's cars to various locations in the States. This took Val to auction sales (Barrett Jackson!) and car shows. What stories they had to share when they came home. Val passed away on Wednesday June 18, 2008 at the age of 76 years. The funeral mass for Val was held on Saturday, June 21, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn, with Fr. Gerry Bauche celebrant. All who attended the mass were considered honorary pallbearers. Interment followed at Cedoux Cemetery. KOT - Agnes Margaret (nee Nikolejsin). It is with sadness that the family of Agnes Kot announces her passing on Saturday, April 23, 2005 at the William Booth Special Care Home, Regina at the age of 95. Agnes leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Marie Kot (Ed Sentes) of Regina and son, Bill (Jean) of Edmonton. She will be missed and never forgotten by her 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband, John Kot in 1993; son, Alvin Kot in 1988; granddaughter, Debee Paquin in 1988; 5 sisters and 5 brothers. Agnes was born Agnes Margaret Nickolejsin March 11, 1910 near Cedoux, SK where she grew up and met John Vincent Kot. They were married January 9, 1932. They lived, farmed and raised three children in the Cedoux and Colfax area until they moved and retired into Weyburn in 1978. Agnes and John were married for 61 years and after his passing, Agnes moved to Regina to live with her daughter, Marie and went on to spend the last couple years of her life at William Booth. Agnes enjoyed a full and healthy life right to the very end. The days throughout the years were filled with the love of family, hospitality, farming, gardening, dancing, cooking, playing cards and bingo and most of all, looking after her husband, John. She will be remembered to many as Agnes, but to many who were loved by her and loved her, it was Nanny. The family would like to thank the staff at William Booth for their absolutely outstanding, unselfish care they provided to Agnes. Their good work enriched her life and ours. They lived east of Weyburn and attended Assiniboia Elementary School and Weyburn Collegiate Institute. She then attended Normal School in Regina. She then taught school at Cedoux where she met and fell in love with Anthony Elmer Kot. They were married January 29, 1947 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Weyburn. They lived on a farm near Cedoux from 1947 to 1987, when they bought a house in Weyburn. Clara was a member of the Catholic Women's League at Cedoux and the Prairie View Womens' Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards, knitting, baking and gardening as well as spending her time with her friends and family. Clara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Bernard was born July 10, 1921 at Cedoux, the youngest child of Wasyl and Agnes Kot. He was raised on the farm west of Cedoux and attended Connor School. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1942. He was stationed at Yarmouth, Nova Scotia for three years. Upon returning to the Cedoux area he married Georgina Geiger on July 19, 1950. They resided at Cedoux where they farmed and raised seven children until he encountered his greatest loss, his wife and infant daughter in 1965. He continued to devote his life to raising his children ages 1 to 14. He was often teased he needed a wife but always maintained "When my children are raised, I'll look after me." After the graduation of his youngest daughter, he met and married Valerie Nessel (Kopec) on April 16, 1982. They resided in Weyburn. He was a devoted husband, father, farmer and very proud to be a veteran. Bernard was an avid Blue Jays fan. He enjoyed the years of travel that Valerie and he shared, the many card games and coffee at the Legion and the Co-op with friends, neighbours and family. It is with sadness that the family of Marie Kot announces her passing on Friday, March 24, 2006 at the Pasqua hospital in Regina, at the age of 71. On Thursday, March 13, 2003, Tony Kot passed away at the Weyburn General Hospital at the age of 83 years. Predeceased by his son, Dale Anthony Kot and daughter, Carol Gail Kot; seven brothers and one sister. Tony is survived by his loving wife, Clara Kot of Weyburn; one daughter, Corinne (Ralph) Miller; two sons: Garry (Dawn) Kot and Robert (Tricia) Kot; eight grandchildren; three step grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one sister, Jean (Stanley) Buschta, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Anthony Elmer Kot was born August 10, 1919 in the Cedoux area to William and Agnas (Goski) Kot. He took his schooling to grade nine at Connor School. In January, 1947 Tony married Clara Vandendriessche in Weyburn. They lived on the farm from 1947 until 1987 when they moved into Weyburn, and continued to farm until 1996. He was a grain and cattle farmer, and still kept on farming by helping his son farm whenever he was needed. Tony served on several committees at church, with the Pool elevator, and the community pasture committee. He enjoyed playing cards, especially crib, watching curling and baseball and visiting with family and friends. Tony will be sadly missed by his family and friends. LEACH - Helen Elizabeth "Bette" (nee Hill) passed away peacefully on February 17, 2013 at the age of 85 years, after a long battle with lung disease. Bette was predeceased by her parents Alfred and Undine Hill, sister Diane Schneider and brothers-in-law Bernie Schneider and Wally Hennie. Bette is survived by her husband of 65 years Vern, her children Wendy Leach, Regina, Dean Leach (Eileen Packet), White Bear Lake, Dawne (Len) Gunderson, Drayton Valley, Alta.; six granddaughters Breanne (Tino), Megan, Danika, Calene (Justin), Dena (Andrew) and Erin, great-grandson Kayden, step-granddaughters Jacelyn and Julianne. Also survived by her siblings Joanne Hennie, Jack (Margaret) Hill, Ken (Ev) Hill and Sharon (Aden) Hubick, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Bette was raised in Yellow Grass and farmed near Colfax with Vern until they moved to Weyburn in 1980. She was very active in sports and music, and the community, golf, curling and bridge were her passions, but her greatest passion was for her husband and her family. Many times she would say she�s had a good life. In the autumn of her years when her disease slowed her down, Vern cared for her every minute of every day. Bette will be greatly missed, but is now in a place of comfort and peace. It is with great sadness that the family of Frank Leck announces the passing of their beloved husband, father and grandfather on April 7, 1999 at the age of 89 years. In 1977, when his health failed, he moved to the Souris Valley Extended Care Hospital. On April 14th, 2001, Mr. Myron David Lewis of Regina, SK. passed away in the Pasqua Hospital, after a short illness. Myron was born on January 25, 1908 in Wheatland, Wyoming. Myron married Mildred Gronnerud on December 24, 1931. They resided in Minnesota until 1945, then moved to Lewvan to farm. Predeceased by his parents Mattie and Rolla and one sister, Constance. Mabel loved farm life and worked shoulder to shoulder with Leonard at all aspects of operating a mixed farm, as well as having a large garden and raising a family. He attended school in Cedoux and remained on the family farm except for a few brief years spent in Moose Jaw where he worked as a livestock feed deliverer. He married Anna Okreglak on July 17, 1976 in Regina and they lived at Cedoux where farming was his work. Alex drove cement truck for Giroux Brothers Redi-Mix for numerous years and later in life helped Anna with her cleaning services at Great Plains Ford and Minard's Equipment. Being an avid cribbage player, he enjoyed "skunking" everyone who challenged him. He loved and was very successful at fishing, and enjoyed playing golf and watching curling. Alex was a loving, easy going, and extremely friendly person. He always had a story or a joke to tell and was often the life of the party. He had very strong and loyal family ties, and always made sure everyone was aware of things that were going on in the family. Honorary pallbearers were Garry Magnien and Michael Herberholz. LOGAN - John Walter "Jack" Logan passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2010. He was born in Regina on June 14, 1917. He is now reunited with his parents Perry and Agnes Logan, his wife Pat and his sisters Helen (Bill) Arnold and Ruth (Jack) Forster. Jack moved to Colfax, SK in 1926 and helped his Dad run the family business WP Logan Hardware. He joined the Air Force in 1940 and returned to Regina after discharge. He was employed by the Federal Government for eight years as the Saskatchewan Rentals Officer. In 1944, he married the love of his life Patricia Strain and has missed her terribly since her death in October, 2007. In 1950, he joined the Provincial Government and was the Director of Benefits for the Saskatchewan Hospital Services Plan when he retired in 1980. Jack was a Past Master of King Hiram Masonic Lodge, #104 and enjoyed many summers at the cottage that he and his son-in-law Jim built at B-Say-Tah. Jack is survived by his two daughters, son-in-law, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren: Linda and Jim O'Halloran, Shane (Jaimie) and Kaylee O'Halloran, Tara (Ryan) and Bailey O'Halloran McMorris, Ryan (Jodi) O'Halloran; and Lee Logan, Kelly Lundy, Susan (Chad) and Cowen Pottle. LUTTMERDING - Rita Bridget Rose (nee Warnke) passed away peacefully after a short illness, on January 23, 2008, at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital, Vernon, BC. Rita was born on June 1, 1920 in the family's homestead house in Lewvan. Rita lived and worked on the farm until she married Robert Luttmerding on February 19, 1955. In 1966, Robert, Rita and their family moved to Back Enderby Road in Armstrong, BC. Rita loved her faith, family and friends. She was a devoted wife and mother. Rita served as Catholic Women's League member for over 60 years and often talked about how much she loved her CWL sisters. Rita will be lovingly remembered by her husband Robert; sons Bob, Eric, Arnie (Bonnie) and daughter Anne (Ken) Kelly; 12 grandchildren Erin, Adam, MaryAnne, Kristen, Erica, Miranda, Samantha, Riley, Caitlin, Colton, Mason and Paxton; brother Jerry (Mary); sister-in-law Mary Luttmerding; extended family Wendy Galbraith and Brenda Luttmerding. MacMILLAN - Glenndon "Glenn" Morris (November 2, 1954 - April 11, 2010). It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Glenn MacMillan at the age of 55, late of Pilot Butte, SK on April 11, 2010 with family by his side. He was predeceased by his parents Allan and Grace MacMillan, brother Robert MacMillan, sister Allison Salahub and mother-in-law Edith Hammett. MARTIN - Norman Jean (1930 - 2006). The family of Norman "NJ" Martin with deep sadness announce his passing on May 1, 2006 in Penticton, B.C. Born and raised in Souris Valley and Radville, he spent 25 years in municipal administration and the accounting field in Duck Lake, Cedoux and Weyburn Saskatchewan before moving to Oliver, B.C. in 1981. He put his administrative experience to work in B.C. as he embarked on a new career with a local irrigation district before retiring to Penticton a few years ago. In recent years he devoted considerable time to tracing and assembling his family tree and bragging about the achievements of his nine grandchildren. NJ was the eldest of fourteen born to Ray and Yvonne Martin. After completing high school in Radville, he attended College Mathieu in Gravelbourg where he met and in 1953 married Pierrette (Peggy) Longpre. Their five children became the focus of his life although he found time to be an ardent community supporter as a member of the Weyburn Credit Union board for nearly two decades, a member of Knights of Columbus and an avid hockey and fastball fan. As always he remained optimistic about his beloved Habs' chances in the NHL hockey playoffs at the time of his passing. NJ is remembered by his loving wife Peggy and children Paul (Marsha) of Regina and children Jocelyn and Jean-Paul; Joanne McIvor and children Abby and Brett; Andre (Johanna) and children Pieter, Patrick and Jordan; Marcel (Ada Newman) and children Waneta and Antoine; and Robert as well as hundreds of family members and friends. McCLINTON - James David "J. D." (November 6, 1908 - September 7, 2001). On September 7, 2001, J. D. McClinton passed away at the Sunset Extendicare at the age of 92. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy, his daughter Joan Helmsing (Rick) and son Keith (Heather), his grandchildren Keirsten and Erin McClinton, his brothers Ed and Harold (Bea) and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. J.D. was born on a farm near Yellow Grass, SK. He was the eldest of 8 children: J.D., Greg, Margaret (Quigley), Mabel, Bill, Olive (Hill), Ed and Harold. Family was very important. He was always there for his siblings and their families, providing whatever help was needed. J.D. helped his father on the farm from an early age and eventually owned his own farm near Colfax, SK. He married Dorothy in 1943. When not working on the farm J.D. owned and operated a taxi in Regina. He was active in Carmichael United Church in Regina and the Masonic Lodge in Colfax for over 50 years. He was a talented athlete and enjoyed baseball, pool, hockey, curling and golf. He loved travelling and he took his family on road trips. After he retired, he and Dorothy took bus trips. They also enjoyed playing cards regularly with three other couples. There will be a viewing between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 13, 2001 at the Helmsing Funeral Chapel, 2210 College Ave. A graveside service will be held at Memorial Gardens on Friday, September 14, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. A celebration of J.D.'s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the Helmsing Funeral Chapel. McGOWAN - Mable Rodd (nee Slinn) McGowan of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at the age of 93 years. Born at Fort Pitt, Saskatchewan September 29, 1914 to Albert and Premilla Slinn, Mable received her education in several Saskatchewan communities. She attended high school in Lewvan and Regina, and normal school in Regina from 1934 to 1935. In 1937 she married James (Jim) McGowan, a rancher in the Killdeer, Sask. district. Mable taught school in the Killdeer area for seven years, and was postmistress for thirteen years. In 1973 Mable and Jim moved to Rockglen, and in 1989 to Moose Jaw. Mable was predeceased by her husband Jim in 1991, one daughter Grace English in 2004, a grandson Wayne Rotariu in 2008, five sisters-Marjorie Damon (Jim), Viola Bonney (Bob), Eva Gray (Alex), Florence Thune (Ed), and Pearl Slinn-and one brother Bill Slinn (Frances). Mable is survived by her children-Wesley McGowan (Ellen), Moose Jaw; Clarice Rotariu (John), Weyburn; John McGowan, Saskatoon; eleven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. McLAUGHLIN - Mary Helen (nee Collins) of Moose Jaw, SK, formerly of Yellow Grass and Lewvan, Sask. passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the age of 95 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Hugh McLaughlin; brother, Tom and sisters Inez, Veda and Betty. Mom is survived by her loving family: children, Don (Doris), Grant (Brenda), Susan, (John); grandchildren, Mike (Joy), Donna (Francis), Pat (Kathy), Tamara (Mark), Rob (Danelle), Jeremy (Kim) and Rebecca; great grandchildren, Jesyca, Eli, Jazmin, Sarah, Tyler, Gracie, Dustin and Ashisa along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Mom was born October 10, 1915 at Lewvan and after high school received nurses' training at Hamilton, Ontario. In 1938 she married the love of her life, Hugh, and in 1942 they returned home to Lewvan where they raised their family, farmed and lived until 1984. Mom was very involved in the community, especially church activities, directing choirs, playing music and taking leadership roles in women's groups. Mom was also often a volunteer nurse, helping at summer camps, in schools and locally whenever needed. For 35 years mom taught piano lessons and enjoyed seeing the success of her students. Helping at harvest, assisting in running the general store for 24 years, sewing, curling, natural history outings, trips and times with family, riding horses, spending time at our beloved creek, entertaining with skits, music, games and encouraging others to participate were all important in her life. Mom's house was always open and she and dad enjoyed welcoming family, friends and visitors. Retiring to Yellow Grass, mom became busily involved in a new community, teaching exercises and line dancing, playing music for the church, helping run the drop-in centre and making new friends. In 2005 mom moved to Moose Jaw where she kept busy with bridge and other social activities. She was determined to keep her mind and body strong enough to live independently. Mom befriended all with her welcoming nature, cheery smile and hearty laugh. A Celebration of Mom's Life will be held Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 1:00 PM from the Yellow Grass United Church, Yellow Grass, Sask. with Rev. John Smith and Rev. David Hanes officiating. McMORRIS - Gordon McMorris passed away peacefully with his family at his side on June 7, 2004 at the age of 81 years. As well as being a lifelong farmer in the Lewvan district, Gordon's outgoing personality facilitated his success in various careers which included custom combining, taxi operator in Regina, driving the Lewvan school bus, owner operator of the local hardware store, and eventually retiring after over 20 years of service buying grain for Parish and Heimbecker in Lewvan. One of his most memorable times with P&H was being present while the Pool logo was being replaced with the P&H crest. His love of country and community led him to serve with the R.C.A.F. during World War II; and a life long avid interest in politics. Gordon also volunteered his time with numerous community organizations including the school, local rink, recreation boards, fire department, coaching and organization of sporting teams and events, and more. One of his favourites was the Lewvan Old Timers Hockey games. He also had an excellent singing voice and sang with an award winning school choir as well as in the Lewvan Church choir. In 1986 Gordon and Thelma retired to Echo Lake near Fort Qu'Appelle where the company of family and friends was enjoyed for many years. Gordon is survived by his wife, Thelma; their four children, John (Lee) McMorris, Katepwa; Joanne (Alan) Gilbert, Moose Jaw; Lorna (Laurie) Merkel, Regina; and Don (Cindy) McMorris, Regina; daughter in law, Eleanor Low, Moose Jaw; grandchildren, Noelle McMorris, Doyle (Jolene) McMorris, Natasha Gilbert (BJ), Brittany Gilbert, Craig and Mark McMorris; and great grandson, Bhody Magnusson. At Gordon's request there will be no funeral service. A private graveside service will be held with the family. MERRIAM - Albert Merriam late of Weyburn passed away Saturday October 9, 2010 at the age of 82 years. Albert was predeceased by his parents, John and Annie Merriam; a brother, Gordon and sisters-in-law: Meda and Helen. Albert will be lovingly missed by his wife of 60 years, Madeleine; one daughter, Gayle (Robert) Bechard of Craven; two sons: Lyle (Debbie) of White City and Steven (Kimberly) of Canora; grandchildren: Robin Bechard, Eugene Bechard, Adam (Tabitha) Merriam, Jennifer Merriam, Eric Merriam, Shayla Merriam and Janayah Merriam; brothers: Ron of Trenton, ON and Cliff (Ellen) of Cobble Hill, BC; sister Shirley (Don) Anslow of Creelman; extended family grandchildren Robert Bechard, Carmen Bechard and Leanne (Mike) Sjodin as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Albert was born the oldest of five children to John and Annie Merriam at Tyvan. On July 21, 1950, Albert married Madeleine Caine. In 1952, Albert and Madeleine came into the employ of Paul Crain of Lewvan on his farm. Albert began working as a hired hand while Madeleine managed Paul�s household. In 1972, Paul retired from farming and Albert and Madeleine took over the farmland from Paul. They worked together on the farm, building a thriving enterprise until their retirement. Albert was a hard-working farmer, dedicated to his farm. He took pride in the farm and enjoyed every aspect of it. Albert was also involved in the Mason organization at Francis for 50 years. He achieved the level of Tyler through his many posts and time spent. He enjoyed the monthly meetings and especially enjoyed the Oratory competition held yearly. Albert was an avid curler for his years on the farm. For many years he was the drawmaster for the local Lewvan bonspiel and was involved in the icemaking duties at the rink. At the pinnacle of his curling career, he threw third rocks in the Southern Playdowns for Maurice Howe. Before his retirement, Albert was diagnosed with Alzheimer�s disease. Albert and Madeleine relocated to Weyburn to be closer to health care professionals. During his 11 year battle with the disease, he was able to continue to connect with family and friends through his familiar grin and laugh. In the past few weeks, complications from a broken hip accelerated Albert�s condition to his demise this past Saturday afternoon. Albert will be lovingly missed by all. A celebration of Albert�s life was held on Thursday, October 14 at 2:00 pm from the Tyvan Community Hall, Tyvan with Rev. John Ferrier officiating. Interment followed at the Tyvan Cemetery. MILLIGAN - Charles "Chuck". It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of a wonderful man, father, husband, brother and grandfather, Charles Chuck Milligan at the age of 91 years. Chuck was born in Osage, SK on August 15, 1918 and was one of four children. Chuck farmed near Cedoux for a number of years, then moved to Fillmore where he worked for a car dealership and later became a partner in a service station. He moved to Regina and worked as a mechanic for a farm implement dealership. Chuck loved to be kept busy, so in his retirement years he managed an apartment block in Regina. Following the death of his first wife, Marjorie, Chuck enjoyed weekends at Regina Beach with his daughter and son-in-law. His many handyman talents were fully utilized during his weekend visits. Chuck met and later married Helen Planeto and inherited four special step-children and their growing families. He was predeceased by his mother and father Gladys and Manuel Milligan; step-mother Gladys; first wife Marjorie; and sister Helen Connery. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Helen; daughter Sandy (Harvey) Johnson; sisters Edna Bassett of Kitchener, ON and Virgie Jacques of Winnipeg, MB; step-sons Dan (Marilyn) Planeto and Gord (Tracy) Planeto; step-daughters Linda Garvey and Sandra (Brian) Warren of Calgary, AB; step-grandchildren Sheena, Sharla, Arianna, Alisa, Tessa, Thomas; and several nieces, nephews and his new special grand-puppy Coco. Pearl Morrison passed away peacefully at Circle Drive Special Care Home, surrounded by family, in her 103rd year. What a run she had! Born in a small farmhouse near Lewvan, to Sidney and Mary Gough, Pearl's childhood was during the time of the Great War and the worldwide influenza epidemic. A time before rural telephones, antibiotics and refrigerators. Of horse-powered transportation and school attendance in a one-room schoolhouse on the bald prairie in a new province called Saskatchewan. She took her public education at "Gough School", three years of high school at Lewvan High, graduating from Grade 12 at Regina Central Collegiate in 1926. Upon graduation from Regina Normal School in 1927, Pearl's first teaching position was "Gough School", the very school where she took her public education. During the Great Depression, beginning in 1929, she taught at Heward until 1934, after which she continued her teaching career in Yellowgrass. It was here she met her husband, N.C. (Buck) Morrison, to whom she was married in 1939. Their three children were all born during the Second World War, while living in Moose Jaw, Carnduff, Oak Lake, MN and Regina. Their move to Perdue in 1947 lasted seven years, during which time Pearl returned to the classroom. From 1954 to 1958, she continued teaching in Macklin until the family's move to Saskatoon. Here, her teaching career continued until her retirement in 1965. Pearl was gracious, stylish, elegant, intelligent, caring, feisty and forever the schoolteacher; strict, but fair. Best you watch your grammar around her! She was a card shark (belonging to ladies' bridge clubs over 40 years), a wonderful conversationalist, and a happy soul. Her quick wit often summed up events in a short, but insightful, manner; her generous spirit made it enjoyable to be in the presence of her company. Pearl was an excellent horsewoman, baseball player (catcher) and curled for many years. She played the drums and piano in the family orchestra and, like many of her era, attended many dances. She held offices of her church and enjoyed her many friendships and roles with the Eastern Star, a membership she has held since 1953. And, of course, travels have included trips to the British Isles, Europe, Hawaii and Arizona with Buck, as well as the many visits with her family as they established careers throughout Canada. Pearl resided in our Saskatoon family home until 1993, when she moved to McClure Place where she enjoyed the convenience and social life and made many friends. McClure was home for 14 years, the final two of which she was able to persevere with the generous assistance of staff and particularly her daughters who used their considerable nursing skills to keep her "independent". In July 2007 Pearl moved to her last residence at Circle Drive Special Care Home. Special thanks to Dr. Wardell for the care of Pearl over many years, the caregivers at Circle Drive Special Care Home, and to personal special care givers Grace, Fern and Liz; all, who maximized her enjoyment of life in their loving care over the years. We as a family have been truly blessed to have had her in our lives as mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her legacy can be said to be that of an inspiring role model of love and caring towards all family members, extending to all in the wider community and world. MUS - Valda Marie (nee Gunia) passed away peacefully with her sons by her side at the age of 70 years. MYERS - Victor Michael passed away peacefully at Providence Place in Moose Jaw on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 98 years of age. He was born in Cedoux in 1909. He eventually moved to Weyburn and married Emily (Mitchell) Myers from Star City on April 25, 1938. He farmed for a few years and did custom combining in Texas during the 1940s. He also worked for the CPR for 30 years and retired in Moose Jaw in 1974. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Emily Myers, his four children Marilyn Haffner, Ft. Saskatchewan, AB; Marlene (Al) Strank, Mission BC; Gail (Rene) LeGrand, Medicine Hat AB and Alan (Janice) Myers, Kelowna BC. He was a grandfather to Jody LeGrand, Ft. Saskatchewan AB; David Haffner, Toronto ON; Daniel (Debbie) Haffner, Moor Park, CA; Todd (Lissa) LeGrand, Regina; Sean Strank, Hamilton, MT; Ryan (Danielle) Strank, Kamloops BC; Mark LeGrand, Regina; Shannon Myers, Saskatoon and Graham and Hailey Myers, Kelowna BC; with eleven great grandchildred and one great, great grandchild. On Tuesday, December 10, 2002, Carrie Nikolejsin, late of Weyburn, passed away at Souris Valley Extended Care Centre, at the age of 96 years. Predeceased by her parents, her husband Nick, daughter Joan and grandson Gerald. Carrie is survived by her son, John (Jean) Nikolejsin of Weyburn, her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and by her half-sister Teresa Hospod of Weyburn, as well as several nieces and nephews. Carrie was born in Poland. She came to Canada as a teenager to live and work with her uncle and aunt on his farm at Cedoux. She spent some years working in Regina as a housekeeper and nanny for the Innis family. While there she learned to speak English and was introduced to Canadian culture - in many ways very different than she was used to. In 1932 she married Nick and they lived in the Cedoux area, finally settling on the Swinder homestead farm. Nick and Carrie raised two children, Joan and John. Carrie always had a big vegetable and flower garden, which she generously shared. Nick and Carrie lived on the farm until retiring to Weyburn, where she continued her love of gardening with a yard of flowers. Her door was always open to company, never allowing anyone to leave hungry. She especially enjoyed visits from her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Her last years were spent at Souris Valley where she made many new friends among the residents and staff. PIERCE - Margaret Helen (nee Campbell) MacFarlane Pierce, passed away January 4, 2002 at the age of 85 years. Born to Jack and Margaret Campbell on February 23, 1916 in Colfax. Her school years were taken in Colfax. She went into training for a nurse and became a Registered Nurse from the Women's College Hospital in Toronto, ON in 1941. Many years of nursing including Kirkland Lake, ON as well as working in a doctor's office for four years. She then moved to the U.S. where she worked at the Huntesdon Medical Centre in Flemington, New Jersey for 19 years. She also spent a couple of years in a nursing home as well as doing private duty. She returned to Canada in 1971 and worked in Weyburn General Hospital for several years. She finally retired from nursing early in 1983. She was married to John MacFarlane in 1947 and to John Pierce in 1976. Frequently known as Mac or Margaret, Helen will be remembered for her warm, loving, compassionate ways. She had a great love of family and friends. She enjoyed writing letters, reading, embroidering, gardening, and keeping abreast of current events including changes in nursing. She will live on in the hearts of those she touched, for nothing loved is ever lost, as she was loved so very much. Predeceased by her mother in 1929, her father in 1960, her first husband, John MacFarlane in 1969, brother, Glen in 1970, and stepmother, Etta Jane in 1982, and husband John Pierce in 1994. It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the death of our wife, daughter, sister, aunt, teacher, and friend Kendra Joy Pinno on August 2, 2005 at the young age of 29 years. Kendra leaves, to cherish her memory, her loving husband Christopher, her parents Ken and Lynn Slamp, her siblings Rod Slamp, Veronica (Bryan) Dennis, Darren Slamp, Ruth (Eric) Lane, Jon Slamp, and Katherine Slamp, nieces Mia, Haley, Taylor, Kaylin. PLONK - Catherine "Kay" (nee Piwowarczyk) Plonk of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Joseph Plonka, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at the age of 91 years. Kay was born in Cedoux on July 12, 1916 to Albert and Polly Piwowarczyk. She was raised on the family farm near Cedoux. Kay married Joe Plonka on October 6, 1936 in Weyburn. She moved to Lethbridge in 1951 where she resided ever since. Kay did some part time work at the Catholic Central High School for 8 years. Kay is survived by her son Joseph (Christina) Plonka of Cranbrook, BC and 7 grandchildren and their families. Besides her beloved husband Joseph, Kay was predeceased by her parents Albert and Polly Piwowarczyk, daughter Alice Droppo, brother Walter Piwowarczyk, sisters Bertha Zyla, Anne Tokarz, Agnes Strycharz and Nellie Strycharz. A funeral service was held at 11:00am on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Riverview Chapel, Lethbridge with Deacon Cliff Bogdan officiating. Interment to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery. PLONKA - John Stanley. On Sunday, December 16, 2001, John Stanley Plonka, late of Cedoux, passed away at the age of 67 years. Predeceased by his parents, Karol and Anna Plonka; two sisters: Janice and Anastazia; one brother, Cleslou; two brothers-in-law: Jan Orlicki and Edward Kopec and one sister-in-law Anna Plonka. John is survived by his brothers and sisters: Stella Kopec of Weyburn; Matthew (Betty) Plonka of Regina; Rose (Leo) Kopec of Weyburn; and Emil Plonka of Weyburn; as well as many nieces and nephews. John was born September 9, 1934 at Weyburn. He attended Cedoux School up to grade 10 and always helped on the farm while growing up. He worked in grain elevator construction starting in 1953, and was the construction foreman for the National grain elevators which later became known as Carghill. In 1978 he started farming in the Cedoux area on his uncle Stanley Skorupa's farm. John liked to do finish carpentry and wood working and he made many kitchen cupboards. He helped install the new gates at the Cedoux cemetery. John enjoyed family times and liked being with his nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by all he knew and loved. Prayers were said Wednesday, December 19 at 7:30 p.m. from Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn. The funeral mass was held Thursday, December 20 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn, with Father Francis Hengen Celebrant. Interment followed in Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn. All those in attendance were considered to be honorary pallbearers. The active pallbearers were: Victor Vogel, John Vogel, Nathan Vogel, Julian Goski, Joe Glab and Jim Kopec. PREGIZER - Marie (nee Hrycej). On Sunday, September 14, 2003, Marie Pregizer, beloved wife of Ernest Pregizer, of Lipton, aged 56, peacefully left her life among us. Marie's life began on November 5, 1946 in Weyburn when she was born to her parents, Andrew and Rose Hrycej. Marie shared her childhood with her three sisters, Edna, Genevieve and Susan and her brother, Alex on the family farm located a few miles north of Cedoux. Being of Polish and Ukrainian ancestry, Marie enjoyed the creation of traditional meals. Marie went to school at Cedoux, eventually attending Weyburn to go to high school. Marie left home and eventually moved to Regina where she was introduced to Ernest Pregizer whom she soon married some eight months after meeting. After their wedding, Marie helped to create a warm and welcoming home for the duration of her life on the Pregizer farm located 12 miles north east of Lipton. Marie enjoyed music and reading, especially about gardening or baking; she also loved to visit with friends and neighbours an play the odd card game. When she wasn't devoting her time to raising their three children, Marie could be found gardening or baking. Being of strong Catholic faith, Marie did her best to juggle her time to assist with preparing and serving lunches on behalf of the Ladies' Altar Society in Lipton. Marie also taught catechism classes and was a regular worshiper. Marie's life was celebrated at a funeral mass held in Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Lipton on Thursday, September 18 by Rev. Robert MacKenzie. The interment was in the Lipton Memorial Gardens. Prayers were held in the Church Wednesday evening. The pallbearers for her funeral mass were: Wade Hicke, Robert Pregizer, Brian Braumberger, Gil Bistretzan, Don Jeworski and Wes Klisowsky. Marie is survived by her family Tammy (Geoff Legge) Pregizer of Elrose, Trent (Melanie) Pregizer and their daughter Layne, Lipton, Mindy Pregizer, Lipton, one brother Alex Hrycej, Weyburn, three sisters: Edna (Elie) Bistretzan, Moose Jaw, Genevieve (Mike) Ligtermoet, Regina, Susan (Cameron) Hood, Pike Lake, also her nieces and nephews. Marie was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Rose Hrycej. Mom's character can be best described as fun-loving, a jokester, a woman who valued her family first and gave selflessly of herself to lend a hand to her family and friends, a woman of strong will, knowledge who enjoyed to learn more and who took interest in those around her, and who had a strong faith in God. Marie Pregizer was a wife, a mother, a grandma, a daughter, a sister, an aunt and a friend whose patience and thoughtfulness will remain in our memories forever. PRUSACK - Ernie. It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ernie on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the age of 80. Although he suffered from diabetes and kidney disease, he worked up until the time of his death. Ernie was raised in the Colfax district and started his first job with the railway where he was the youngest conductor on the CNR at that time. Due to health reasons, he changed his profession to photography for a short time. With the exception of his wife, Ernie�s next career was the love of his life. Being the excellent salesperson he was, Ernie decided to stay in the auction business. He worked for a few companies, the last being Hodgins Auction where he was employed for 15 years. Ernie traveled the three Prairie Provinces and loved every minute of it. He knew where every small town was and most of their history. Ernie loved people and especially enjoyed a good visit. Predeceased by his parents Pauline and Leon and a brother Izzy; Ernie is survived by his loving wife Gladys; brothers Eugene and Dennis; and sister Emily and their families. He is also survived by his special brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jerry and Dorothy Andrews along with their family; special nieces Susan and Marian; and his very special diabetic nurse Lorna. Honouring Ernie�s request, there will be no funeral service at this time. A private service will be held in the spring. QUIGLEY - Thomas George. It is with deep sadness that the family announces that Tom passed away peacefully on December 17, 2009 at the Regina, General Hospital at the age of 77. RENAS - Eleanora Viola (nee Weber) passed away peacefully on December 1, 2001 at the age of 81 years after a long battle with cancer. Vi was predeceased by her parents, Olga and Daniel Weber, two brothers: Edwin Lorenz, and Edwin Daniel; two infant daughters: Sharon Rosalind and Tammy. She is survived by her loving husband George of 63 years, seven children: Gerane (Tino), Sandra (Ian), Jill (Dave), Garry (Cindy), David (Bev), Judy (Don), and Brian (Pauline); fourteen grandchildren: Angela, Robert, Brett, Chandra, Mathew, Tyson, Braydon, Melissa, Michael, Trevor, Jason, Bree-Anne, Alison, and Kyrstin; and five great grandchildren; one brother, Norman; three sisters: Eileen, Doreen, and Marilyn. Eleanora Viola (Weber) was born in Yellow Grass, SK and attended school there where she met and married George Renas. They spent their early married life in Barrie and Brockville, Ontario where George served in the army. In 1947 they went farming at Yellow Grass and raised a family. In 1956 they moved to Worcester and operated a general store, post office, and poultry farm. In 1965 they built a house in Regina where the children finished high school. Vi loved to work in Sears at the candy counter. In 1973 they moved back to the farm at Cedoux where Vi tended her precious flowers. In 1997 they returned to Regina into a condo but continued to commute to the farm every weekend. Vi loved her garden and her flowers. She will be remembered for her love for her family, her hard work, her unselfishness and her beautiful smile she gave to everyone. She loved to sing and dance. Her hobbies included crocheting, painting, collecting dolls and teddy bears. She loved cooking, canning, and preserving the harvest from her garden and then giving most of it away. Apparently God had a special project and he needed a Special Angel to help Him, our dear wife and mother answered the call as a "Willing Worker". She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all. As per her wishes a private family service will be held. RENAS - George Andreas Renas passed away at home on January 29, 2007 at the age of 88 years. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Vi; parents John and Karoline Renas; two infant daughters Sharon Rosalind and Tammy; brothers Gus and Karl Renas and sisters Augustine, Julia, Molly and Olga. He loved to debate, which contributed, to his strong mind. A Private Family Service will be held. George will be sadly missed by his family ROBINSON - John David Robinson (Judd / J. D.), beloved Grampa, Dad and friend, passed away peacefully at home on February 5, 2005 at the age of 84, with loved ones at his side. Born December 30, 1920 in Colfax, one of nine children born to Thomas and Edna Robinson. After leaving the Royal Canadian air force he farmed in Saskatchewan until 1969 at which time he moved with his wife and three daughters to Vernon, BC. He was with the Auxiliary R.C.M.P. and then a commissionaire at Hiram Walker. He retired at the age of 64 from a fulfilling career at Canada Safeway. During his retirement he enjoyed traveling, fishing, golfing, baseball and curling. Much of his retirement was spent enjoying his four grandchildren. He will also be greatly missed by all his cribbage partners and friends from the Royal Canadian Legion where he was a lifetime member. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his daughters, Brenda (Ralph) Quaife and children Tyler and Lindsey of Calgary, AB. Bernie was predeceased by his parents: John and Mary Schneider; his wife, Diane Schneider; brothers-in-law: Philip Weimer and Wally Hennie. Bernie is survived by his children: Ken (Lizann) Schneider and their family, Dustin (fianc� Ashley), Mark R., Hope, Mark (Jodie) Schneider and their family, Carly, Justice (Kevin), Jackson, Julie (Shawn) Koester and their family, Brett, Cole; Sister Connie Weimer and her daughters: Leanne (Carl) Germann, Laurie (Russ) Cheveldayoff, Rhonda (Brad) McEachern; sisters and brother-in law: Bette (Verne) Leach, Joanne Hennie, Jack (Margaret) Hill, Ken (Ev) Hill, Sharon (Aden) Hubick; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Bernie was born on November 20, 1935 in Francis. At age 17, Bernie went to Edmonton, AB and completed both a gas and electric welding course. He then went to Yellowknife, NWT to work in construction. He later came home to farm with his father, John near Colfax. He also was a truck driver for Prairie Gas and worked at the Weyburn plant for Pan Canadian Petroleum. Grain Farming was his passion, family was his life. He loved the land, seeding, harvest, the weather, the crops, the garden, the seasons, the equipment, and all the hard work associated with it. He was a community minded member to the town and people of Colfax. He played the accordion in a family band and also enjoyed old time music. On June 18th 1960, he married Diane Schneider at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Regina. Bernie and Diane enjoyed 51 years of marriage together. Their relationship was strong, true and based on solid values. They shared a common interest in sports, which they instilled in their children. Later in life, Bernie enjoyed attending his children�s and grandchildren�s games and events. Bernie loved to watch TV while sitting in his recliner. Favorite things to watch were Blue Jays Baseball, Curling, Hockey, Westerns, Wartime movies, and the news. Other hobbies that he enjoyed with family and friends were: fishing in northern lakes, and cards (cribbage and kaiser). Bernie was a tremendous baseball pitcher and hitter. Also, he competed competively in curling for many years winning many bonspiels. His interests in curling took him to Toronto and Newfoundland, whereby he became a curling ice maker and instructor. SCHNEIDER - Diane (nee Hill) Schneider, late of Weyburn passed away April 2, at the age of 76 years. Diane was predeceased by her parents Undine and Alfred Hill; two brothers-in-law: Walter Hennie and Philip Weimer. Diane�s life passion always led to family and sports as an athlete, parent of an athlete, devoted fan of the Weyburn Red Wings, Saskatchewan Roughriders, Toronto Blue Jays and the list goes on. The center of her world evolved around her husband, children, grandchildren, extended family and friends. She believed in living life to the fullest. Her motto always was: Play! Compete! Do your best and Most of all - have fun. She was a member of the United Church of Canada and the Colfax U.C.W. Her hobbies included golf, curling and card games. SCHWINDT - Anne (nee Meyerhoffer) September 25, 1921 - February 21, 2002. It is with great sadness and sorrow that the family announces the sudden passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister and friend. Anne passed away on the morning of Thursday, February 21, 2002 at the age of 80 years. Anne was born in Francis and resided on her parent's farmstead in the Francis / Odessa area attending the Murphy School. Anne worked as a housekeeper for Paul Crain, Norman Chambers and Bill McIver, all of which were local farmers. During her employment with Paul Crain she met her loving husband Herbert and were married on October 9, 1943. Anne and Herb thereafter rented farmland in the Lewvan area and subsequently settled in the town of Lewvan, where she also worked at the General Store. In 1980 Anne and Herb relocated to their current farmstead near Lewvan / Colfax. Anne was a wonderful cook caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who always put the interests and comforts of others before her own and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. A memorial service was held Tuesday, February 26 at 1:30 p.m. at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Ave., Regina. Interment to take place at a later date. SCHWINDT - Clarence Rice. On Monday, September 25, 2000, Clarence Rice Schwindt, late of the Lewvan-Colfax district, passed away peacefully at Souris Valley Extended Care with his family by his side at the age of 88 years. Clarence was born January 5, 1912 at the family farm south of Lewvan. Predeceased by his father and mother, Charles and Rosa Schwindt, seven brothers and four sisters. Clarence is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Berniece Schwindt of Weyburn; two sons: Stewart (Therese) of Sedley, and Clinton (Rhonda) of Colfax; and one daughter Marilyn Parker of Madison, New Jersey, USA; three grandsons: James, Jay and Shane; two granddaughters Connie and Chelsea; as well as many nieces and nephews and friends. Clarence enjoyed a career of farming until 1989 when his eyesight failed him and forced his retirement. Clarence especially enjoyed years of family card games, curling and was an avid sports fan. Clarence especially enjoyed frequent visits and phone calls from family and friends. Herbert was born in Colfax, SK and came back to the Lewvan District with his parents and sister, Ethel, after his dad and mom went back to Kansas to finish his dad's career with Sante Fe Railroad and Advance Rumley Company as a locomotive engineer in Emporia and Wichita, Kansas. Herb attended Maple Leaf School and learned farming from his parents and the Custom Threshing crew that John Henry Schwindt managed. While gaining experience farming in the Lewvan area he met his loving wife Anne, from Francis, SK and they were married on October 9, 1943. Herb and Anne thereafter rented farmland in the Lewvan area and subsequently settled in the town of Lewvan, where it was a pleasure for Herb to also drive the bus for the Milestone School Unit and be with the students from 1959 to 1982. Herb shall be dearly remembered as a kind, generous and gentle man during his stay in the Lewvan District and loved assisting his neighbors and being assisted. His son Norbert and his friendly neighbors greatly helped Herb and Anne relocate to the farmstead near Lewvan and Colfax. Let the song "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong describe Herb's wholesome manner and caring character to mankind and his adoration for the animal kingdom. He loved to be with his immediate family and relatives and friends and all are a special joy and contentment for Herb and Anne. We shall be with Herb and always cherish him and his friendly generous nature and laughter. Thanking God for his presence. It is with sadness that the family of Kel Schwindt announces his passing on Friday, April 29, 2011. Born July 7, 1930 in the Lewvan District, he was 80 years old. He was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Elizabeth Schwindt; brothers, Alfred and Frank; and sister-in-law Fran. Kel was a family person, he loved to be around his family, have a good meal and enjoyed being with all of us. He was so proud of each and every one of them. At Kel's request, there will be no funeral service. A private family interment will take place in Riverside Memorial Park at a later date. STELLICK - Thomas (Tom) Anthony Stellick. It is with great sadness that the family of Tom Stellick announces the passing of their beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather on Easter Sunday morning, April 4, 1999 at the Weyburn General Hospital at the age of 78. Predeceased by his parents John and Marguerite Stellick; brothers Albert, Walter, Alex, Frank and Joe; sister Veronica; brother-in-law Ward Gibson. He will be fondly remembered by his loving wife of 48 years, Joan Stellick of Weyburn, and his children: Jeffrey (Pam) Stellick, Aylmer, Que.; Charles (Eileen) Stellick, Weyburn; Margaret (Jean) Boutin, Montreal. Also six grandchildren: Erin and Lael Stellick (Aylmer); Chareena, Matthew and Joshua Stellick (Weyburn); Lisa Deptuck (Saskatoon) and great granddaughter Monilade (Saskatoon). He also leaves to mourn, his two sisters Josephine Bukowski of Nipawin and Victoria Belech of Langley, BC; sisters-in-law Lynn (Bob) Pawelko of Regina; Kathy (Lory) Sproxton of Saskatoon; Sophie Stellick of Peachland, BC and several nieces and nephews and many friends. Tom was born December 7, 1920 in the Cupar district. He was the youngest of the nine children. He attended school in the Cedoux-Tyvan area at Krakow School. In 1948 he moved to the Talmage area where he began his own farming operation. He married Joan Gibson at Dysart, SK on November 4, 1950. Tom and Joan celebrated their 40th anniversary in 1990 with a tea and a supper attended by family and friends. Tom was an active member of the St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was also involved in earlier 4-H clubs, the Farmers' Union, the Wheat Pool, and took a very active part in the restoration of the T.C. Douglas Calvary Centre on Signal Hill. Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, curling, woodworking, baseball when he was younger and enjoyed being with his grandchildren whenever he could. But anyone who knew Tom, knows that his great passion was farming. He was able to farm until he was diagnosed with cancer in February 1999. He loved company and no one left his home without feeling welcome and full of whatever cooking and baking Joan always had on hand. Tom was a very caring father and would have done anything for his children. He was a good neighbour, always lending a hand with whatever was needed of him. He was a hard-working, tireless man with much determination, kindness and generosity. He will be dearly missed. Prayers were held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, at St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church. The funeral mass was held Wednesday, April 7 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church with Father John Mock celebrant. Cremation followed. Bruce Gibson, his nephew, read the eulogy. The Knights of Columbus formed an honor guard. All those in attendance were considered honorary pallbearers. Active pallbearers were Jean Boutin, Brian Gibson, Bruce Gibson, Russ Leguee, Lael Stellick and Joe Zarowny. TATTON - Lois Anne (nee Cockwill) McMorris Tatton. Lois passed away September 10, 2010. Lois was born in Edgeley, SK, one of eight daughters and three sons of William and Lydia Cockwill. She is survived by her husband Jim: son Myles (McMorris) and his wife Loretta; daughter Marilyn and her husband Kevin (MacLeod); granddaughter Kristin (Chris) Kish; great granddaughter Piper; sister Hazel Bloxom of Abbotsford, B.C.; and nieces and nephews throughout western Canada. Lois received her R.N Diploma from West Suburban Hospital of Oak Park, Illinois and on graduation was employed by a Chicago firm in employee health before returning to Saskatchewan. She married Ron McMorris and together they farmed in the Lewvan District until his death in 1968. Lois was a loyal member of The Order of the Eastern Star, Milestone Chapter, and held many offices in that branch. After Ron's death she moved to Regina with her children, Myles and Marilyn. Following a nursing refresher course in Moose Jaw, she continued her nursing profession at the Regina General Hospital. She later became Employee Health Nurse at the Regina General Hospital, a position she held until retirement. Lois and Jim (widowed in 1971) were introduced by a mutual friend and soon became inseparable. With the goodwill and blessings of Myles and Marilyn, Lois and Jim were married in 1983 and continued to live in Regina. Shortly after retirement they moved to a condominium in Regina and found free time for many trips to relatives and friends in the southern states and Hawaii, plus points from coast to coast in Canada. Lois enjoyed her association with new neighbors and friends, especially the weekly bridge get-togethers that were hosted in turn by each neighbour. Family and friends lovingly remember the compassion and empathy she found for those whose misfortunes she considered greater than hers, even when she herself was struggling with cancer. A gathering of the family to celebrate Lois's life and to treasure the memories, love and generosity of this truly fine lady will take place in the near future. WARNKE - Mary, (nee Leier). On Tuesday, August 12, 2008 Mary Warnke late of Regina, SK and formerly of Lewvan, SK passed away peacefully at the Regina General Hospital at the age of 88 years with her family at her side. Predeceased by her brothers, John, Eddie and Walter; brotherin-law, Dan Eberle; and sister-in-law, Gertrude Grad; Mary leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Jerry; brothers, Steve (Jean) and Frank (Barbara); sisters, Theresa and Rose; sisters-in-law, Kay and Jeannie; and numerous nephews and nieces. Mary enjoyed many years on their farm with Jerry, caring for her yard, garden and flowers. She enjoyed visiting with her family and neighbors. WAWRO - Eleanor Pearl (nee Buss). On Sunday, October 8, 2000 Eleanor Pearl Wawro, late of Regina, Saskatchewan passed away at the age of 64 years. She was predeceased by her mother Nellie Buss and her father Norman Buss. Eleanor will be forever loved and remembered by her husband Dorland (Don) Wawro; her daughters Kim Searow, of Vancouver and Karen Wawro of Regina; her brother Gerald Buss of La Habra, California and sister Deb Hardy of Cheyenne, Wyoming; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Dennis and Sandra Cocks of Calgary. WAWRO - Regina �Rachel� (nee Zimmerman) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at the age of 98 years. Rachel was predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Maria Zimmerman; husband, Walter Wawro, son, Wes Zimmerman; step-son, John Wawro; step-grandson, Alvin Wawro; five brothers and one sister and step-daughter, Ruth Wawro. Rachel was born at Abbey on November 16, 1915, the second oldest child in a family of seven children, to Anthony and Maria. As a young woman she worked at a variety of jobs including the Grey Nuns Hospital in Regina. On November 14, 1945 Rachel married Walter Wawro in Fox Valley. After marriage, Rachel turned her energy to helping run the family farm. She raised large numbers of turkeys, chickens and geese. She regularly milked the cows and grew a large garden to feed the family. While living in the Cedoux area she was actively involved in the Cedoux Ladies� Altar Society, and later became involved with the Catholic Women�s League in Weyburn. Rachel and Walter farmed together near Cedoux until Walter�s passing in July of 1971. She would continue to live on the farm until 1976 when she moved to an apartment in Weyburn. During Rachel�s 25 years at Bison Manor, she met and made many new friends. In 2006 Rachel moved into the Weyburn Special Care Home, where she lived for her last eight years. Rachel loved to play bingo, attending sports days, and getting together with family and friends. She was a life-long letter writer and faithfully corresponded with family and friends across many provinces. Rachel held a special place in her heart for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She took great delight in visits from her grandchildren and always had a hug, kiss and a cookie for each of them. Rachel�s family would like to thank Dr. Phillip Fong and all of the staff at Weyburn Special Care Home for all of the care and compassion shown to her over the many years that it was her home. Interment took place at Cedoux Cemetery, Cedoux. YUZYK - Martha Doloris (nee Ogieglo). Martha, at the age 70, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. She was predeceased by her mother, Mary Ogieglo; father, Joseph Ogieglo; stepfather, Edward Ogieglo; mother-in-law, Annie Yuzyk; father-in-law, Michael Yuzyk; two brothers, Edward and Ted Ogieglo; one nephew, Edward Ogieglo; and one grandson, Glen Yuzyk. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Stan Yuzyk; her children, Cheryl (Stan) Kachmarski; Michael (Sandi), Edward, Francis (Raylene); Sheldon (Josie) Yuzyk; sisters, Teresa Phillips; Monica (Allen) Thiel; brother, Emil (Kris) Ogieglo, and sister-inlaw, Barbara Ogieglo; nine grandchildren, Stephen, Zachary, Michael, Kathryn, Peter, Marisa, Trevor, Jason Yuzyk, Nathan Kachmarski and many nieces and nephews. Martha was born on July 19th, 1938 in Cedoux, SK and after graduating with honours, went on to complete her teacher training at the Saskatchewan Teachers' College in Moose Jaw. She taught in Moose Jaw, Saskatoon and Weyburn before settling down with Stan to raise a family. In 1968, they moved to Saskatoon where Martha enjoyed working at SIAST until her retirement in 2003. A creative, caring woman of deep faith, Martha was a devoted wife, mother and an active volunteer in her parish, Holy Spirit. She loved to play golf and won numerous tournaments over the years. Martha enjoyed visiting with family and friends, gardening, and spending time at the cottage. At the end of a busy day, she would curl up with a good book. She will be sadly missed. The Vigil for Martha will be held on Tuesday, July 29th, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 30th, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. with Very Rev. Father Don Hamel presiding and with Rev. Father Ken Beck concelebrating. Both services will be held at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Parish (114 Kingsmere Place). ZOTZMAN - Wilfred. On Wednesday, November 8, 2006 Wilfred Zotzman passed away peacefully at home at the age of 90. He was predeceased by his parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Wilfred is survived by his wife Berna; sons Kevin and Wade; daughter Laurel (Randy) Hubenig; 2 grandchildren Jaime and Luke; brother Herb (Mary) Zotzman; sister Doris (Jessie) Munoz. Wilfred was born in Lang on November 6, 1916. He grew up on their farm near Yellow Grass. Wilfred joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1942 1945. He met and married Berna in 1954. They farmed outside of Colfax, SK until 1976 when they moved to Weyburn, SK. They resided in Regina since 1996. There will be a Memorial Service at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 3510 Queen St., Regina, SK at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, November 13, 2006 with Pastor Craig Moeller officiating. ZYLA - Margaret Zyla was born to Andrew and Rosie Zyla of Cedoux. She passed away peacefully on June 25th, 2009 due to complications that arose from a courageous, lifetime battle with rheumatoid arthritis. She was 72 years of age. Margaret received her nursing degree in Regina and worked for many years at the Regina General Hospital. She then went on to earn her Masters degree in nursing in London, Ontario. She moved west to Calgary, AB in 1978 and worked until her retirement at the Calgary General Hospital. Margaret will be lovingly missed by her family and her many dear friends.
