She worked for the former Simpson's retail store on the pastry counter where she was fondly known by many children as the "Cookie Lady". She is survived by daughters, Marilyn and husband John Cameron, Bedford; Sandra and husband Eric Lavers, Halifax; Janet Herman, Calgary; grandchildren, Jennifer Lavers, Paul Lavers and wife Debbie, Kelly Cameron and Jay Cameron, all of Halifax; Shane Herman and Tina Herman, both of Calgary; and great-granddaughter, Hailee Cameron, Halifax; sister, Mable Goodearl, Cape Cod, Mass.; sisters-in-law, Eva Lohnes, Halifax; and Rose Lohnes, Maple Ridge, B.C. Born at Middle Musquodoboit, he was the son of Ervine Lenfast and Florence Eileen (Archibald) Bezanson, Glenmore Rd. He attended school at North (elementary) and Musquodoboit Rural High. With an ingenious mechanical aptitude from an early age, Chris developed skills in small motor/engine repair which became his most significant occupation. Formerly he was an employee of Andy's Tire, Truro; KFC, Halifax; Petro Can (Decker's), Middle Musquodoboit; Shubenacadie Co-op; R.G. Matheson Small Motor Repair, Elmsvale; and worked as a general laborer and woodsman. For the past 15 years, he was a self-employed small engine repair person in Elmsvale. Chris was a loyal, determined and independent person known for his kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone he could, no matter what the task. Chris will be sadly missed and dearly remembered by family, relatives and close friends especially, but also by a multitude of other friends and acquaintances; his quick wit, musical talents, smiling charm and big heart won him an ever-widening circle of friends. Emily, together with her late husband, Stanley Lionel Veinot, owned and operated a retail business in New Germany for many years. In addition to her craftsmanship in needlework she was well-known for her love of playing cards and was always available for a game. She was an adherent of the United Church and a past member of Rosedale Senior Citizens Club. She is survived by her son, John, Halifax; daughters, Elisabeth (Ian) MacPherson, Victoria, B.C. and Dianne (Larry) Bower, Shelburne; six grandchildren and five great- grandchildren. He was a veteran of the Second World War. Following the war, he built and operated Romkey Sales and Service Station until his retirement in 1977. He was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Rose Bay, past president of Riverport Board of Trade, member of Riverport Masonic Lodge, and past president of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 23, Lunenburg. He was a member of Christ Church Anglican, Windsor, also a member of the choir and men's club. He was a volunteer at Dykeland Lodge and the Cancer Mount Support Group and a member of the Canadian Cancer Society. George enjoyed bowling, skating and camping. He belonged to the Glooscap Camping Club. He was involved in the D-Day invasion of Normandy, France and was severely wounded on June 15, 1944. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, a member of the North Nova Scotia Highlanders Memory Club, a member of the Federal Superannuates National Association, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Scotia Branch 25, Halifax since 1945. He was also a former member of the Oxford Branch Knights of Pythias and the D.O.K.K. In 1946, after his return from the service, he was employed with the Department of Veteran's Affairs at the Camp Hill Hospital, Halifax for 21 years until his retirement, moving to Wallace, where he resided for 30 years until October of 1995. He then moved to Amherst and took up residence in the Centennial Villa. Surviving are sons, M. Born in Hebbville, March 6, 1916, she was the youngest daughter of the late Willis and Addie (Oickle) Croft. Evelyn's musical talents were evident at a tender age as she developed her musical skills in the violin/fiddle and later in her young life, she and her sister and brother-in-law formed a musical trio and entertained in many areas of Lunenburg County. Today, her picture holds a spot in the Bridgewater DesBrisay Museum's section of "Music of years gone by." Evelyn was a life member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bridgewater and was an adherent of Pleasantville Baptist Church. Evelyn was past Noble Grand of Atlantic Rebekah Lodge 52 and received her 50 year jewel June 17, 1996. She was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Branch 24, Bridgewater. She worked at the Christian Education Centre Day Care for several years and will be remembered by many who she served in her capacity as Avon representative for 11 years in the 1960s.
