Will of John Green

In re   John Green   deceased.

In the name of God Amen. The twenty-fifth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty. I John Green of Venison Island Labrador, Planter, being in sound mind and memory, do make this my last will and testament; at the same time revoking all former wills made by me, declaring this to be my last will and testament.

First I give and bequeath unto my wife Elizabeth Green the sum of one hundred pounds cy to maintain herself and nephew William Green if required To my eldest son William Green twenty pounds cy, And lastly after all my just debts are paid I give and bequeath the remainder of five hundred and one pounds ten shillings and six pence cy with interest due me as per bills on Newfoundland Banks Also Fifty six pounds and eleven pence sterling with interest as per book on Poole Bank England, to my three sons Francis Green, Richard Green and Ambrose Green, the above mention money to be equally divided between the last three sons; also I give and bequeath to Francis Green one third part of my boat Alarm also the upper shore near his house. Also I give and bequeath to Richard Green and Ambrose Green two thirds part of my Boat Alarm and all the rest of my property consisting three dwelling houses Fisherman’s House store stage flakes boats seines nets twines and Moorings &c. also all my furniture in my houses by maintaining their mother & her nephew unto her decease she having the use of my property as now, should either of my sons die above mentioned leaving wife and children the above named property to be theirs so long as their wife are wifes remain unmarried, If they marry again the property to fall to the children in the name of Green; At the same time I do appoint Mr. William Charles Hawker, Agent, and Mr. Joseph Smith, Planter, of the same place, joint executors of this my last will and testament, to which I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty-fifth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty, John Green (LS) Signed sealed and delivered in presence of us, William Charles Hawker, Joseph Smith.
