Married in Portland
The marriage of Miss Maud Borden, daughter of Frank Borden, formerly of Berwick, took place in Portland, Me, on Tuesday, Sep. 12th. The Portland Free Press thus reports the affair.
"Lively strains of music came from the organ of the Chestnut street Methodist Episcopal church for half an hour before 12 o’clock yesterday, while many friends were gathering to witness the celebration of the wedding of John Lovett, clerk at Anderson, Adams Insurance Co., and Miss Bessie Maud Borden, of this city.
"There were pretty floral decorations about the chancel rail and to Lohengrin’s march, which was played by Mr. Geo. F. Sanglier, the procession walked up the aisle preceded by the ushers, Arthur Dyer and Chester Doten, who were followed by the bridesmaid, Miss Ray Borden, a sister of the bride, and next was the bride leaning on the arm of her father. They were met at the altar by the groom, who was accompanied by his best man, L. H. Gerrish, Jr., and the ceremony was performed by Rev. Luther Freeman, pastor of the church, during which soft music was played on the organ.
"The bride, who was given away by her father, was charmingly dressed in white swiss trimmed with Valenciennes lace and insertion, and she carried bridal roses, her veil being neatly caught up with roses. The bridesmaid was in white swiss over yellow, trimmed with Valenciennes lace, and she carried yellow and white roses. As the bridal party left the church, Mendelssohn’s wedding march was played. The bride received many presents. After a short wedding trip Mr. and Mrs. Loveitt will return to 61 Grant street."
