SCOTTS BAY.

The schools at this place opened on Monday. Miss Laura Davison, of Avonport, has charge of the North school, Miss Ruth Patterson, of Delhaven, of the South section. This is Miss Patterson’s third year at the Bay, which speaks well of her abilities as a teacher.

Mrs. George Brecken and Miss Minnie Brecken were the guests of Miss Mabel Steele last week.

Mr. Evander Jess, of Kentville, spent Sunday with his mother, Mrs. Mary E. Jess.

Mr. C. E. Starr, of Upper Pereaux, visited the Bay on the 17th, in the interest of a mining company.

Three large shark were taken from the shad seine at one tide, recently.

Mr. James Rogers received word on Monday of the death of his daughter, Miss Emeline, at Dartmouth. The remains were brought home on Tuesday.

Messrs Joseph and Harris Thorpe started for Boston on Tuesday after a short visit with friends here.
