Brakeman Killed.
A Kenora, Ont., despatch of June 25, says: -
Brakeman Robert Neily died here this afternoon as the result of injuries sustained this morning near Busteed, on the C.P.R. Neily accidentally caught his foot in a frog while walking along the track, and, before he could extricate himself from his position, the train, for which he was setting the switch, ran over him inflicting fatal injuries. He was brought in here shortly afterward, but died two hours later. Deceased was thirty-years of age and was well known here. He had been married about eighteen months and had one child.
The above despatch was taken from the Free Press Bulletin, Winnipeg. R. L. Neily was the son of the late Joseph Neily, of North Kingston. He leaves to mourn their loss, two sisters, the Misses Selena and Love Neily, of Somerville, Mass. He enlisted during the South African war in Co. H., under Capt. Stairs, and went to South Africa in the first contingent, where he was in a number of engagements, and endured many hardships. After returning from South Africa he remained with his father for a short time.
About five years ago he left for the North West where he has been in the employ of the C.P.R. The community was greatly shocked when they learned of this death. The sisters have the heart-felt sympathy of their many friends.
