Bluenose Retains Trophy In International Schooner Race

Scooting home under lowers and main-topsail in a snorting northerly that attained to 28 knots, the schooner Bluenose, of Lunenburg, her smoking lee foam turned red by the western sun, on Thursday afternoon tore to the finish line, defeating the schooner Henry Ford of Gloucester, by 7 minutes and 51 seconds in the best and final race of the International series at Gloucester last week.

The Bluenose covered the course in 4 hours, 48 minutes and 38 seconds. The Nova Scotian vessel having two official victories to her credit, retains the trophy which she won off Halifax last year from the Gloucester schooner Elsie, and receives therewith $3,000 first prize money. To the loser goes $2,000.
