Earle Spicer Winning Success
Young Nova Scotian Baritone Is Highly Praised By London And Paris Critics

Nova Scotians will learn, with considerable pride in the fact, that Mr. Earle Spicer, concert baritone, has achieved distinct triumphs in his recitals in London and Paris. The musical critics of both European cities have placed their imprimatur on the voice and artistry of Mr. Spicer. After a recent recital by the Nova Scotia Baritone, in Aeolian Hall, London, a press critic observed that "Mr. Spicer is the most artistic vocalist we have heard in a considerable time." The Paris critics were even more flattering, commenting particularly on the perfection of Mr. Spicer’s French diction, one of the m declaring that it "caused special delight and a surprise, his diction being not far removed from Italian in vocal beauty." Mr. Spicer was heard in Halifax last Fall when he gave a recital under the auspices of the Halifax Ladies’ Musical Club, before a critical audience, which pronounced his artistry as a sure promise of a noteworthy career on the concert stage. London and Paris music lovers have meanwhile confirmed the belief of Mr. Spicer’s compatriots. The young baritone is a native of Berwick.
(Mr. Spicer expects to sail for home about July 10th, after completing his engagements in Paris, and will be the soloist at the Berwick Camp Meetings which opens August 1st.) – Ed.
