Behind the weather-beaten shore of Isle Haute is a more stable, rocky beach. Steep bluffs rise up to a plateau, and fresh springs feed this triangular pond of brackish water. The sheltered beach area is home to Mic Mac archaeological treasures and the site of much searching for pirate gold. Just to the right of the dig site is other evidence of digging a large hole suspected of holding the mystery treasure. - (S. Keddy)
