DALHOUSIE EAST.

A great surprise was sprung upon Hudson Everett Ramey, son of Asaph Ramey, on the evening of April 29th.

Knowing he is about to leave his home for other climes the young people of Crossburn assembled at his father’s residence to spend with him a jovial evening prior to his departure.

About twenty-four young persons stood on the floor of the front room, which was dismantled quickly, so that they could "Trip the light fantastic toe," to the music of the violin, occasionally accompanied by the triangle, which made the time pass pleasantly.

Refreshments consisting of fudge, bananas, etc., were bountifully served and when at the midnight hour, the good nights were repeated there were many voices echoing the good wishes for Hudson.

One pleasant feature consisted in the presence of three grandmothers, all of whom had for some time passed the three score mark. These were Mrs. Lucy Ramey aged eighty, grandmother of the surprised one; Mrs. Arabella Oicle and Mrs. Hutchinson, who showed their interest in the occasion.

Mr. and Mrs. Ramey are blest in their children and we join with the wishes that their youths may not forget their old home.

Clifton E. Wright, one of our Dalhousie boys, won at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College at Truro the following marks as a junior: Veterinary Science; 75; Dairying, 64; Mechanical Drawing, 61; Physics, 48; Stock Judging, 66; Agriculture, 58; Animal Husbandry, 67; Chemistry, 60; Mathematics, 48; Entomology, 49; Horticulture, 65; English Literature, 60; English Composition, 47; Poultry, 68; Drainage, 68; Field Crops, 63; Botany, 65; Geology, 85; Average, 62.1.
