May 2007 community work at it's best

The Burlington Cemetery Society and many members from the community came together on the evening of May 10th for a spring clean up at the cemetery. At last count, we had 18 people show up that night to take on a variety of work which included spreading powdered lime, fertilizer, and grass seed. Several people began picking up branches and other debris upon their arrival.

Two tractors were on site to transport topsoil to several of the gravesites, which required topping off due to visible depressions. Many others were raking, trimming, loading branches and other debris onto trucks, as well as completing other work that was required that evening.

It was amazing to see how much work was accomplished when the community comes together with a common goal in mind. We hope that there will be many similar work parties in the following months and years to come.
