Berwick Boy’s Success In U.S.
Alfred Fuller, President of the Fuller Brush Co., of Hartford, is on a visit to his former home, Welsford Street. Mr. Fuller is another King’s County boy who has made good abroad. Less than twenty years ago he began in a small way, in Boston, the business which today is one of the largest I the United States. Thousands of salesmen are employed, millions of dollars are invested in the business, and the company has branches in over 200 cities. Yet this great business, the manufacture of wire brushes, was begun by a Berwick boy, hardly out of his teens, who made the brushes himself, and then went from house to house selling them. And inside of twenty years the business has grown from such a small beginning to what it is today, and its phenomenal success is altogether due to the energy and ability of this young man, Alfred Fuller. He is a son of the late Leander Fuller of Welsford. A brother, Douglas, lives on the old homestead, and is one of our progressive and successful farmers.
