Harbourville – At The Turn Of The Century

This interesting photo of the village of Harbourville, taken around the turn of the century, was kindly submitted to The Register by Elwood Morse. The photo shows a winter scene with large sailing vessels tied up, that appear to dwarf the size of this large inner harbour. Many of the buildings shown around the wharves, which were fish houses, blacksmith shop, and stores, were removed many years ago. It was a busy and thriving seaport village in those days. Mr. Morse, proprietor of Morse’s Antique and Used Furniture, South Berwick, also has several other very interesting old photos, which he would be glad to show anyone interested.
