C.P.R. Will Compete with Alaska S.S. Co. -
P.S.N. Co. Crowded Off
|
Becuse of regulations imposed by Victoria, the Puget Sound Navigation Co. has practically been
crowded off the Seattle - Victoria run and the 'Dolphin' of the Alaskan Steamship Co., is now
making dailytrip, touching here Saturday nights in place of the 'Clallam'. As soon as the
'Majestic' comes off the ways it is said she will be put on the Victoria run, but it is thought
with little profit in view of the following from the Victoria Times: |
"* We are convinced that the Board of Trade will oppose the
substitution of the reconstructed 'Majestic', and that such action will be endorsed by the
citizens, such being the case, the company must understand that it will be a false move
*" |
|
It is evident that the Victoria papers will do much to divert travel to the C.P.R. steamer
'Princess Beatrice", which will be placed on the Seattle - Victoria run direct, as soon as U.S.
papers are signed. |
