Yesterday afternoon a deckhand who was among the saved from the disaster, called at the parlors of the B.C. Funeral Furnishing Company, where a number of bodies are being embalmed, and, looking sadly at the body of a young lady, exclaimed: "Ah, I had a great battle with that poor girl to get her into the boat! She fought me and declared she would not go. But it was the captain's orders to place all the women and children in the boats, and I had to do my duty." |
