In effect, those signing the declaration could be described as Members of the Low Dutch Reformed Congregations of Freehold and Middletown. The first couple of dozen or so names appear at 23:93, 94, as "Church Members," and then are repeated at 24:20 with the above clarification.. [S5745] Steven Eustis, "New Source for Brouwer Data," e-mail message from Steven Eustis to Chris Chester, 21 Mar 2016, Recall that the bible transcript (Attached here) was from a bible owned by "Magdalen Post". I have researched her a little more. She had no kids and was married twice - 30 Jun 1785 to Rev Simeon Van Artsdalen (who died in May 1786). Secondly to Col Anthony Post (1744-1832) on 25 Nov 1808. She is the same person you have listed as a sponsor of sister Catherine's daughter Maria's baptism in 1788. She is also the same person you have listed as a sponsor of sister Neeltje's son Simeon Van Artsdalen baptism in 1787 (namesake of Magdalen's deceased husband!) Recall that sisters Neeltje and Catherine married brothers John and Abraham (sons of Jacob Brouwer/Jannetje Hartje). Magdalen has no children and I found a copy of her will from 1844. In it she lists only a few next of kin. One is John I Brower, grandson of sister Catherine! So that is how the bible ended up in my family.. Hereinafter cited as "New Source for Brouwer Data."
