Andries Imans1

  • Andries Imans came to New Netherland in 1661 Andries Imans, from Leyden, 9 May 1661 in De St. Jan Baptist, Capt. Jan Bergen.1
  • John Emans is claimed as a son of Andries Imans first by T. G. Bergen in Register in Alphabetical Order of the Early Settlers of Kings County, Long Island (1881), but no evidence for this claim is given. This belief has since been generally accepted in other accounts of John Emans, however, acceptable evidence is lacking. Andries Imans' age is not known, while John Emans was an adult, probably over the age of 25, by 1652. The sons assigned to Andries Imans by Bergen are in actuality, John Emans' sons. This is evidenced in John's will of 1714.2
