Immediately after the close of this war in 1760, several families moved in, but with the exception of a few Friends, were driven out during the war of the Revolution, and retuned only after peace was restored. There soon followed settlers from Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Dutchess County, N.Y., and at least one, Killian De Ridder, from Holland.³
