  10. [S2305] Janet L. Brewer, "The Brouwer Database (Mark Brewer, Samuel & Peter Brewer)," e-mail message from Janet L. Brewer (e-mail address) to Chris Chester, 16 Mar 2009, "Peter Brewer of Hardin County and Samuel Brewer of Mercer County (both Kentucky) are certainly more likely than not brothers - Peter swore an affidavit for Samuel's revolutionary war pension application (I have a copy of it), and Samuel refers to his "brother in Hardin County" as being the only person alive who could attest to his service.
HOWEVER, I believe that Mark Brewer, also of Hardin County, is no relation to Peter and Samuel. I'm 99.9% certain that Mark Brewer emigrated from St. Mary's County MD as part of the League of Catholic Families. Although there is some slight possibility that there is a relation, I think it was just a coincidence that they were also in Hardin County. The one possible "link" between the families that I have found is that Peter was living in a predominantly Catholic settlement in what was then Nelson County when he first moved to Kentucky. I suspect that he was a guide that the Catholics picked up in the Pittsburgh area (he and his brothers-in-law, the Hobacks, appear to have been adventurers, so I would think that making money guiding people down the Ohio River would appeal to him).
In any event I do not believe that Mark Brewer is related to Peter & Samuel.". Hereinafter cited as "The Brouwer Database (Mark Brewer, Samuel & Peter Brewer)."
