Henry Fowler

M, b. circa 1679, d. between 2 July 1734 and 12 July 1734
  • Henry Fowler was born circa 1679 at Eastchester, Westchester Co., New York.1
  • He married a wife (name unknown) circa 1700.2

  • He was an inhabitant of Eastchester with his father's family in 1698 and took the oath of allegiance to the English King at Eastchester that year. On 29 Jan 1701, Henry Fowler received from his father, Henry Fowler, Sr., of Eastchester, yeoman, a gift of one half of 30 acres of land in the Patent of Eastchester, at a place called Deerfield; the other half at the decease of his father "and not before"; also one half in Cove Meadow. This would imply that he was about to be married. He is found in the records of Eastchester through 1717, and in 1718 was appointed supervisor of Highways at Mamaroneck. His 1734 will calls him, of Mamaroneck. (For more details see NYGBR 58(1927):340-342).4

Phebe's name is not among the list of gravestone inscriptions from the source he cited and believes that she may be buried without a marker at St. Paul's Church Yard. Death Register for the Borough of Manhattan records her as Phebe, as does her obituary in the "Minerva", a weekly NYC newspaper.
