- Henry Fowler died between 2 July 1734 and 12 July 1734 at Mamaroneck, Westchester Co., New York.
- Also known as Capt. Henry Fowler.3,4,5
- He was an inhabitant of Eastchester with his father's family in 1698 and took the oath of allegiance to the English King at Eastchester that year. On 29 Jan 1701, Henry Fowler received from his father, Henry Fowler, Sr., of Eastchester, yeoman, a gift of one half of 30 acres of land in the Patent of Eastchester, at a place called Deerfield; the other half at the decease of his father "and not before"; also one half in Cove Meadow. This would imply that he was about to be married. He is found in the records of Eastchester through 1717, and in 1718 was appointed supervisor of Highways at Mamaroneck. His 1734 will calls him, of Mamaroneck. (For more details see NYGBR 58(1927):340-342).4
- His will was dated on 2 July 1734 proved 12 Jul 1734. Henry Fowler of Mamaroneck. Leaves legacy to eldest son Fowler. To second son, Henry, house and home lot adjoining it and all my land from thence upward until it shall include my field called the Winfield all of which lies on the west side of the road that leads from the country road near Mamaroneck River to the Manor of Scarsdale. Also half my salt meadow. Leaves to son Gilbert "my Headley field so called," with the Hammocks and land adjoining, and all my land on the east side of the road to Scarsdale, and half my salt meadow and 20 acres off the upper end of my Great Lot. - Called Phebe by C.V. Angevine who cites "Truslow Descendants", called Ann by Bristol and C. Fowler. C.V. Angevine notes the birthdate of 27 Jan 1747/1748 given by C. Fowler for "Ann", is the same birthdate for "Phebe" given in Truslow Desc., and so reasons that they are one in the same person. Phebe's name is not among the list of gravestone inscriptions from the source he cited and believes that she may be buried without a marker at St. Paul's Church Yard. Death Register for the Borough of Manhattan records her as Phebe, as does her obituary in the "Minerva", a weekly NYC newspaper.
