James Brewer1,2

M, b. before 1736, d. before August 1760
  • James Brewer was born before 1736 (assumed to be age 21 on 22 Jul 1757).
  • On 22 July 1757 George Brewer conveyed to James Brewer land in Brunswick County. "George Brewer of Brunswick County to James Brewer, son of the said George Brewer of same county, out of the Natural Love and Affection which he beareth unto the said James Brewer his son" and for 5 shillings, 270 acres in Brunswick on the south side of the Falling Run, land was formerly granted to John Linch and by him conveyed to said George Brewer on Feb. 21, 1743. Signed George "+" Brewer (mark). Witnesses by George Wyche, Thomas Stagg, George Brewer.3
  • He possibly died before August 1760 (not mentioned in his father's will) and very likely before 6 Dec 1771, when his brother, John sold the 270 acres on the south side of Falling Run, to his brother, Henry Brewer.
  • James Brewer is not mentioned in his father's will of August 1760. That may be because James had, in 1757, purchased 270 acres on the south side of the Falling Run from his father. However, it may be beacuse James was already deceased. On 6 Dec 1771, John Brewer sold to Henry Brewer, the same 270 acres on the south side of Falling Run.
No will or estate has been found for James Brewer, and it is not known if he had heirs.

Broyhill places this James Brewer as the James Brewer who married Ann and died in 1816, leaving a will dated 1815. This placement is incorrect. James3 Brewer (George2, George1) may have died soon after receiving property from his father in 1757.
