Bermuda, alias Somer' Islands,

In the name of God, Amen, I Nathaniel Yates of the parish of Pembroke in the Islands aforesaid, mariner, being of sound state of mind and memory, this twenty second day of January in year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixteen, do make this my last will and testament in the form following:

Item. I resign my soul to the Almighty, and my body to the dust; and do order that my funeral expences and just debts shall be paid, as soon as decency permits.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my wife, Mary Yates, my house and land, together with my personal estate, for her sole use so long as she retains my name: - but in the event of her changing my name, I give and bequeath as follows:

Item: I give and bequeath unto my live children, Nathaniel John, and William Henry, my house and land, also my personal estate, to have and to hold my said house and land, together with my personal estate to my said children, Nathaniel John, and William Henry, and to their heirs forever.

Item. Should my wife, Mary Yates, be now pregnant with either male or female, it is also my will that it shall be equally benefited by my house and land, together with my personal estate. And I now appoint my wife Mary Yates to be sole executrix, to act and perform for me in all things appertaining unto this my last will and testament.

By the Hon.ble Robert Kennedy, acting Governor, Caommander in Chief & Ordinary in and over the said Islands etc. etc. etc.
I do hereby certify that on this 21st day of July 1829, before me the Acting Governor and Ordinary aforesaid, personally appeared Rich.d M Webb, one of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing instrument of writing, and solemnly made oath on the Holy Evangelists of Almighty God, that he saw the testator Nath.l Yates, late of Pembroke Parish, in these Islands, mariner, deceased, sign, seal, and duly execute the same as same for his last will & testament.
