Somer Islands

The last will & testament of Joseph Wiseman being in fine perfect memory, but very weake in body, is in manner and forme as followeth

I give and bequeath my soule to Allmighty God my creator being assured of ye forgiveness of my sines through ye merritts of Jeseu Christ my saviour & blessed redeemer, & everlasting life, when the mortall life is ended.

I give and bequeath my mortall body to ye earth from whence it came to have christian buriall beeing confident of ye resurrection at ye last day by virtue of ye resarectione of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who is now sitting at the right hand of God macking intersesione for mee.

I give to my grand sonne Joseph Darrell my two shares of land lying and beeinge in Devonshire Tribe and in case he dye without issue then I give the aforesaid two shares to my grandchild Jeames Darrell or to ye next of my grandsons ye shall bee living.

I give to my grandsone Jeames Darrell one Negroe boy, called Jeames

I give to my grandsone Nathaniell Darrell one Negro boy called Antony

I give to my grandsone Samuell one Negro boy called Same and in case either of these my three grandsons dessease before the age of one and twentie then the Negroe I have given them; my will is shall bee given to my grandsone George Darrell

I give to my grandsone George Darrell ye next child ye Mariea hath if it lives till hee is one and twentie and each of my said ___ Negroes to be to them delivered soo soon as each grandsone cometh to twentie and one yeares of age. If the Negroes then bee living.

I give to my daughter Sarah Darrell my Bible and my two ould Negroes Roben & Jeffary

My shares or profitte of my __ ye I have in the whole ffifth ___ or ye I here after may have I give & bequeath unto my sonne in law John Darrell Seinor>

My will is ye all ye part of my personall estate ye is to say my debts goods & chattele shall bee equally divided betweene my eight grandchildren ye is to say to John Darrell Junior, Jeames Darrell, George Darrell, Nathaniell Darrell, Samuell Darrell, Sarah Darrell, Christianata Darrell & Ann Darrell and ye payment of each of theare proportions to bee made ___ ___ as each of them cometh to the age of twentie one yeares or marriage if before

I consittute and appoint my sonne in law John Darrell Sen'r my hole and solle ___ and my grandsones John Darrell & Joseph my overseers of this my last will and testament & in confirmation have putt to my hand & seale May ye 19th 1691.
