Sr Robert Robinson Kt Governor and Ordinary of Somer Islands als Bermuda

To my well beloved in Christ Elizabeth Watlington the relict of Ffrancis Watlington of Smith's Tribe deceased who died intestate. Of all such specialties goods and chattels were or now are the said Ffrancis Watlingtons I doo make ordayne and ___? unto you the said Elizabeth Watlington sole administratrix by these presents charging you by virtue of your estate? that a true and perfect inventory of such specialties goods and ___ you doo make and present before mee within fourscore days after you shall bee hereunto called. And alsoo a sufficient amount of this ye administration that you bringe before mee when you shall bee hereunto required. And that you at all times ___ save harmles and indeminified mee the said Governor and my sucessors and all and singular the offices and ministers in these Islands surroundings of your administration and savingge to every other person or ye fourth rites and interests to the premises governed or my hands at St Georges ye twenty seventh day of Ffebruary with the publique seale of these Islands hereunto affixed 1657/8.

and sendeth greeteing
These are to will and require you and ye are hereby called required and authorized to sumon or cause to be sumoned Elizabeth Watlington widdow and relict of Ffrancis Watlington of Smith's Tribe decd who hath been indemnified on the estate of her said husband personally to appeare before you at such time and place as you shall think most convenient thou and those to bringin upon oath a true and perfect inventory of all the goods chattells and profits wherewith her husband Ffrancis Watlington was possessed of or did in any wise belonge to him at the tyme of his death. As allsoe of what she hath disposed of or sold since his death and to __port examine settle and state all arrangets fourthering the said estate. And you are to order the division of ye surplage and thereof as the law requires betwixt the widdow and nearest of kin (viz. William Watlington, John Watlington, and Mary the wife of Mr Wm Greene brothers and sister to the deceased, haveing a regard to the house and ye lease of ye land on which it stands. And as ____ requires you are to administer an oath or oathes to the administratrix or others for the charginge of any difference that may arise upon the examinings said accounts and a true state of ye case you are to returne to mee and for your soo doing this shall bee ye warrant given under my hand and seale March ye 4th 1688/9.

Whereas your honor by your warr.t under your hand and seale to us directed bearing date the ffourth day of this instant March did authorise and app___te us to receive upon oath from Elizabeth Watlington, widd. and administratrix of Ffrancis Watlington late of Smiths Tribe in ye said Islands deceased a true and perfect inventory of all the goods chattels and credits which did anyways belong to ye said Ffrancis at the tyme of his death. And allsoe to inspect examine settle and state all amounts fourgoing ye said estate with full power and authority from your honor to order ye division of the surplusage thereof as ye Law require betwixt the widd and the relict of him and William Watlington, John Watlington, and Mary the wife of Mr William Greene brothers and sister to the decd. And hereof to give ye ___ an account of our proceedings. As by ye said warrant, referenced being ____ had both more at large appeare. In obedience whereunto we humbly make this returne unto your Honor that haveing mett upon this affaire at the house of ye said Elizabeth Watlington in Smiths Tribe aforesaid on ye ffoureteenth of March instant.

Wee finde that the said Ffrancis Watlington dyed intestate about fifteen months prior, and that your Honor hath granted letters of Administration unto the said Elizabeth Watlington his widdow who hath caused an inventory and appraisement of his estate to bee taken, part of which estate doth lye in a lease of eighteene acres of land in Smiths Tribe, wherein is now to round about ninety one years; appraised at ninety pounds, and his other goods appraised at one hundred seventy one pounds nine shillings and threepence, which inventory she said administratrix hath exhibited to us upon her oath. Wee have allsoo examined and settled her accounts of waht she hath payed out of the said estate, since her husbands death and finde it to amount unto sixty six pounds and two pence, which being deducted out of the whole, the surplusage is one hundred ninety five pounds five shillings and one penny. Of which surplusage, wee with the cou____ and agreement of the said administratrix have made a distribution viz. one moyety of ye goods and personall estate to the value of fifty two pounds ffourteene shillings and six pence unto ye said Elizabeth Watlington together with one moiety of the above mentioned land, with the house standing thereon. And the other moiety of the goods and personall estate to be likevalued unto Mr William Greene, Wm Watlington, and John Watlington esqually to bee divided betweene them and allso other of the moiety of the said leased land, soo to bee divided. And the said Wm Greene, Wm Watlington, and John Watlington have severally entered into bond to ye said administratrix at theire receiving their moiety of the said estate to pay fare and refund a rateable part out of what they have received of such debts as shall hereafter bee said for and recovered or otherwise bee duly made to appeare with the cost of suits and charges be paid administratrix may bee at rendering the same. And wee here likewise exhibited unto the ____ office the inventory above mentioned under our hands and ye hands of the appraisers and allsoo ye arrt. abovesaid under the hand of the said Elizabeth Watlington. This is humbly presented to ye Gov.r under the hands of ye Hono.Y most humble obedient servants.
