By his Excellency George James Bruere Esq Governor and Ordinary of these Islands --
To all to whom these presents shall come or may concern Greeting ---
Whereas Mr Benjamin Vesey late of Warwick Tribe mariner deceased, without making any last will and testament in writing and his estate as yet remains unadministered on. An whereas
Mr Benjamin Nelmes hath prayed for administration of the said estate he having entered ___ with sufficient security truly to administer as the law in such cases hath provided and directed,
and also due publication hath been lately made hereof, and no cause appearing to me to the contrary, now therefore know ye that I have committed and by these presents do committ authorize and
allow him the said Benjamin Nelmes the administration of all and singular the goods and chattels and personal estate of him the said Benjamin Vesey deceased whereof or wherein
he was possessed or interested and which shall come to the hands possession or knowledge of him the said Benjamin Nelmes or any other for him. And I do hereby authorize him the said
Benjamin Nelmes to be administrator hereby charging him that (on oath) he do make or cause to be made a true and perfect inventory or account in writing of all and singular the goods,
chattels and personal estate of him the said deceased. And the same cause to be valued and appraised by three or more honest and indifferent persons by me the Governor and Ordinary aforesaid
to be approved and allowed. And the same inventory and appraisement so made and taken he the said administrator to exhibit in writing into the Secretary's office of these Islands within 15
days next ensuing. And also that he render unto me or my successors a full and true account of his said administration and all his doings and proceedings therein (on oath) when thereunto required
he the said administrator always indemnifying me the Gov'r and Ordinary aforesaid my successor and ministers for and in respect of the promises.
