Bermuda
In the name of God, Amen, I Sarah Thomas of the town and parish of St George in these islands of Bermuda aforesaid, widow and relict of Roger Thomas late of the same parish dec'd, being at present sick and weak of body, but of sound and disposing mind and memory, thanks be to Almighty God, and bringing to mind the uncertain estate of this transitory life and that all flesh must yield to death when please God to call, do make ordain and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following, hereby revoking and by these presents annulling all and every former will and wills testament and testaments by me heretofore made and declared either by words or writing and this only to be taken for my last will and testament and none other.

Impris: I give and bequeath my soul to God that gave it, hoping and trusting to receive a joyfull resurrection in and through the merritts of Jesus Christ my only saviour and redeemer and my body I committ to the earth from whence it was taken to be buried in such decent manner and place as to my executors hereafter named shall deem meet and for what worldly estate God hath been pleased to bestow upon me, I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form.

Item: I will that all those just debts and dues that I owe to any person or persons for whatsoever be satisfied and paid within convenient time after my decease by my said executors.

Item: I give and bequeath unto my honoured mother Mary Knapthon for and during her naturall life only my negro woman Meriane, but the issue of the said negro that shall happen, I give to my son William Thomas.

Item: I give my negro girl BINA unto my kinswoman Mary Knapthon daughter of my brother Moses Knapthon dec'd.

Item: I give all and singular the residue of my estate reall and personall (not in this my will disposed of) to my wellbeloved son William Thomas aforesaid and to his heirs for ever. But my will is that if my said son William dye before he be possessed of what I have before given him and that without issue, then all my said estate before given him my said son shall be equally divided between my three sisters hereafter named (viz) Eliz. Knapthon, Mary Peniston, and Hannah Coulson and the survivors of them or the heirs of such survivor or survivors forever.

Item: I give unto my respected friend Cap't Walter Mitchell, of the town of St Georges (one of my executors hereafter named) a pistole of gold to buy him a ring in remembrance of me.

Lastly, I do hereby nominate appoint and authorize the aforesaid Cap't Walter Mitchell sole executor of this my said last will and guardian of my said son, untill he attain to the age of one and twenty years or day of marriage, which first happen, at which time I also appoint my said son to be another of my executors with the said Walter Mitchell and to act as such. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the eighth day of January in the year of our Lord Christ 1717/18.

Signed and sealed by the above named Sarah Thomas...the testatrix and by her declared and published to be her last will and testament in ye presence of us whose names are underwritten who have in the presence of the testatrix subscribed our names as witnesses hereunto

Upon a further and more mature consideration, I the said Sarah Thomas have nominated and authorized my hon. mother Mary Knapthon executrix with the aforesaid Walter Mitchell and one of the guardians to my son Wm.Thomas untill he arrive to the age of twenty one years or day of marriage aforesaid. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the fifteenth day of February 1717/18.
