Will of Isaac Smith 1807-1870

Smiths Parish,Bermuda

In the name of God Amen I Isaac Smith of Smiths Parish in the Islands of Bermuda being weak in body but of sound mind and memory do make and declare this my last will and testament in manner and forth following,that is to say

In the first place-I direct all my just debts,funeral charges and testa----- expenses to be paid and satisfied as soon as conveniently ----be after my decease.

Secondly-I give and bequeath unto my youngest son Isaac my Horse and unto my younger daughter Clara Smith my Melodion.

Thirdly-All the rest and residue of my personal estate whatsoever I give devise and bequeath unto my dear wife Eliza Smith Smith for her sole use and benefit for and during the term of her natural life,and after death I direct that whatsoever may be remaing of said personal estate that it be equally divided among all my children,that is to say my sons Adolphus Charles,and Isaac and my daughters Susan and Clara,share and share alike.

Fourthly-I give and bequeath unto my dear wife Eliza Smith Smith for her sole benefit and enjoyment for and during the rest of her natural life all and whatsoever my real Estate and property.

Fifthly-subject to the life extent of mysaid wife ____________________ of the sum of five pounds to be paid to my son Adolphus and my daughter Clara before my said son enters ______.I give and devise the dwelling house where I now reside together with that portion of the land hereto attached bounded Southerly by the South Longitudinal Road leading towards Smiths Parish Church Westerly by lands of Colin Abraham Skinner-Northerly by lands formerly of the Watkins? family now occupied by Marcus Harvey and Easterly by lands of the ______of Rupert Hugh Spencer deceased together with the buildings and improvements thereon and the appurtenances thereof unto and to the use of my son Adolphus Smith his heirs and assigns forever.

Sixtly-Subject to the life extent of my said wife I give and devise my blessing and tract of land situate in Smiths parish aforesaid? and known as "Dunscomb's" with all and singular the members and apportenances unto and to the use of my Son Charles Smith his heirs and assigns forever.

Seventhly-Subject to the life estate of my said wife ___an also to a charge thereon of the sum of thirty pounds to be paid by my son Isaac to my daughter Clara before _________________I give and devise my tract ________ of land called "Howser's" ?? situate in Smiths Parish aforesaid together with all and singular the rights members and appurtenances thereof and to the use of my youngest son Isaac Smith his heirs and assigns forever.

Eighthly-Subject to life estate of my wife I give and devise that portion of the property now in my immediate occupation and situate on the south side of the South Longitudinal Road in Smiths Parish leading towards Smith Parish Church and also the parcel of land adjacent therto on the South called Miller's" together with all and singular the rights members and appur. thereof unto my youngest daughter Clara Smith her heirs and assigns forever.
