In the Name of God Amen, Susanna Sherlock Widow and relict of Samuel
Sherlock Esq late of these Islands deceased being very weak and … of Body
but by the Blessings of Almighty God of a sound and disposing mind and
memory, and well knowing that my bitter end draws nigh and the hour of my
death altogether uncertain Do therefore make and declare this my Last Will
and Testament in manner and form following

Imprimas I give and devise to my gran son Thomas Joel son of Thomas Joel my
House and six Acres of Land where Mrs Hanah Pitt lives to be to him and the
heirs of his Body Lawfully begotten for ever.

Item I give and devise to my Daughter Elizabeth Pitt and to my gran
Daughter Susanna Smith in an Equal manner between them so as they may hold
the same as Tenants in Common and not as joynt Tenants my now Dwelling
House and the half share of Land thereunto belonging. I hereby Injoyning
them not to Dispose of the same excepting from and to the other one or to
some of my children or gran children, which said House and Land I hereby
order and direct shall be Devised as my Executors at their discretion shall
think best.

Item I give to my grandson Stafford Joell son of Thomas Joel and to his
heirs for ever from & after ye decease of Mr Jonathan Rawlings the Elder,
the Rents[?] and Land wherein he … by  Estimation …… or thereabouts be the
same … his life.

Item I give and bequest unto my son Thomas Joel my negro man Sam and my
biggest Silver Tankard marked W J S.

Item I give and bequest to my son Solomon Joel my negro man Kitt[?] and my
Silver Tankard marked S J.

Item I give and bequest to my Daughter Susanna Nairn now (at
[indecipherable place name]) in England my two hand wrought silver basins
marked W S J.

Item I give and bequest to my gran son William Joel son of John Joel
deceased my negro boy James and a Silver Tankard marked W J S and a Large
Cedar Press and Settle bench and … bench, and all the remains of my
personal Estate … of what nature kind or quality whatever I hereby Order
and direct to be equally and Indifferently Divided between all of my
children and my gran Daughter Susanna Joel Daughter of Richard Joel to have
an equal portion thereof with my other children.

Lastly I hereby nominate authorize and appoint my two sons Thomas and
Solomon Joell Executors and my Daughter Elizabeth Pitt Executrix to this my
Last Will and Testament devising them to do the same duty and truly
preformed and my body decently and Christianly buried.

In Witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and Seal this last Day of
July One Thousand seven hundred forty one.

By His Excellency Alured Popple Esq Gov and Ordinary of these Islands
… Are to Certify that this 8 Day of September 1741 Personally appeared
before me Elizabeth Pitt and Mary Hutchings who here subscribed their names
as Witnesses to the within Will and Solomoly made Oath on the Holy
Evangelists of Almighty God that they respectfully saw the within Susanna
Sherlock Sign, Seal, publish and declare the within to be her last Will and
Testament, and at the time of doing thereof she the said Testator was of
sound and disposing mind and memory in the best of these Despondants
judgement.
