The sloop "Ready Money", on a voyage from Philadelphia to New Providence, was forced to stop at Bermuda about December 1761, after she "mett with a violent
gale of wind in the latitude of 36"10, longitude 71"28 which lasted for some time, carryed away said sloop's
bowspritt and damaged said sloop in such a manner as obliged said appearer to make for these islands being his
nearest port in order to refit said sloop as well to do what was absolutely necessary without which he could not have proceeded
his intended voyage" (see Comp. Vols. 8:63, Bermuda Archives).
