By his Excellency William Popple Esq Governor Command'r in Chief and Ordinary of these Islands
To all to whom these presents shall come or may concern.. Greeting
Whereas Francis Peniston late of Smiths Tribe mariner deceas'd without making any last will and testament in writing and his estate as yet
remains unadministered on. And whereas Frances Peniston of the said tribe, widow of the aforesaid Ffrancis Peniston deceas'd, hath
humbly pray'd for the adminstration on the said estate she having enter'd into bond with sufficient security truly to administer as the law in
such cases hath been lately made thereof, and no cause appears to me to the contrary. Now therefore know ye that I have committed and by these
presents do commit authorize and allow her the said Frances Peniston the administration of all and singular the goods, chattells &
personal estate of him the said Francis Peniston, whereof or weherin he was possessed or interested and which shall come to the hands
possession or knowledge of her the said Frances Peniston or any other for her. And I do hereby authorize her the said Frances Peniston
to be administratrix, hereby charging her that (on oath) she do take or cause to be made a true and perfect inventory or account in writing of all and singular
the same goods chattells & personal estate, and the same cause to be valued & apprais'd aforesaid to be approved and allow'd, and the same inventory and appraisement
so made and taken, she the said administratrix is to exhibit (in writing) into the Secretarys office of these Islands within fifteen days next ensuing; And also that
she tender unto me or my successors a full and true account of the said administration and all her doings and proceedings therein (on oath) when
thereunto required: she the said administratrix aleays indemnifying me the Governor and Ordinary aforesaid, my successors and ministers for and in respect of the premises.
Given under my hand and the publick seal of these Islands this twenty second day of February anno domini 1718.
