HM Council depositions 1686

Joseph Stow:

deposition before His Majesty's Council, 12 August 1686

The attestacon of  Joseph Stow aged about 36 years who being sworn saith that in short time after ye GoverE Coll. Richard Cony's arrival he came into ye field & administered oaths to ye Military officers; one oath was ye shall owne King Charles ye Second to be ye Supreame head of ye church as it is now established, Mr Willm Milbourne replyed & saith " under Christ", presently upon that ye GoverE ordered two files of musqueteers forthwith to take him away- and ordered ye Marshall to take charge of him and they guarded him as far as ye house of John Richardson & in short time after ye GoverE relaeased him this is ye truth to ye best of my remembrance.
