HM Council depositions 1686

Francis Jones:

deposition before His Majesty's Council, 12 August 1686

Francis Jones Esq aged 41 years or thereabouts being duly sworne & having heard ye seventh article exhibited by Willm Righton Senr agt ye honble Richard Cony Esq deposeth & saith yt he used to pay ye Sheriff ye powder money but ye Honble ye GovE did tell me yt I must pay him ye powder money for he would trust him no longer with ye kings mony; he had trusted him too long already & when my vessell was going to sea I came to pay ye powder money to ye Honble ye GoverE & he called his neece & bid her fetch downe ye bag for to put ye powder mony in for he would keep ye kings money by itself or words to yt purpose to the best of remembrance & further saith not.
