In the name and fear of God, Amen
I John Dickenson of Southampton Parrish in the Islands of Bermuda, Planter, being
of sound and perfect memory and in health of body, praised be God for the same, not knowing
how God may dispose of me, think fitt and ___ to my last charge renouncing all other wills and make this
my last will and testament. And first my ____ all soul I do in some measure of ______ desire to rest and repose in the
shrines of the everlasting mercyes of God my redeemer, trusting _____ purchased with his blood. My body I committ to the earth
from which it was taken to bee therein decently interred at the discretion of my executrix and executors hereafter named,
in hope of a joyfull resurrection at the appearance of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. And
for that ______ where God hath blessed with, it is my ___ and wish that itt bee bestowed and
disposed of in manner as followeth.
Imprimis. My just debts and funerall charges being first paid, I do give and bequeath unto my dear and loveing wife Mary
Dickenson one share of land in Southampton Parrish where I now live with all the houses and offices thereupon lying
between the land of Robert Dickenson and ? ? during her natural life debarring my said wife from selling or cutting
any cedar trees excepting for the building or repair of houses on the said land or for her maintenance if no other personal estate be left.
I give and bequeath to my dear wife Mary Dickenson my molatta Mary named and my moletta boy named
Jon? son of the said Tony and my moletta girl named Jane the daughter of the said Tony
my negro woman named Violett and my negro woman named Bess to bee enjoyed by my wife Mary Dickenson during her life.
Item. I give and bequeath unto my dear wife Mary Dickenson all and every part of my household goods chatell and boats belonging to mee during
her natural life.
Item. I give and bequeath to my son Edward Dickenson and his heirs male after mine and my wife her decease my share of land houses belonging
to itt as aforesaid he paying to my son Samuel Dickenson one hundred fifty pounds in money within six months after mine and my wife's decease.
Item. I give and bequeath to my son Jammes Dickenson one hundred and fifty pounds in money within six months after mine and my wife's decease.
Item. I give and bequeath to my son James Dickenson and his heirs forever my share of land in Southampton Parrish adjoyning to the land of Joseph
to the westward of it and to Mr William Bryan to the eastward of it with all the buildings after my decease.
Item. I give and bequeath to my son James Dickenson one hundred cedar trees to be cutt of my share of land which I live upon bequeathed to my son Edward Dickenson
after my decease leaving one half acre square from trees cutt about my dwelling house.
Item. I give and bequeath to my grandson John Dickinson my granddaughter Mary Dickinson the children of my son John Dickenson dec'd to each
of them eighty pounds money after mine and my wife's decease to be paid to them out of my personal estate as hereafter espressed.
Item. I give and bequeath unto my grandson John Dickinson and to my grandaughter Mary Dickinson as aforesaid to them and their heires forever two negro girles
by name Ruth and Ruth and Rachel, the male taking his choice after mine and my wife's decease.
Item. I give and bequeath unto my son Samuel Dickinson my moletta boy named Tony and my negro woman named Sarah to him and his heires forever
after mine and my wife her decease.
Item. I give and bequeath unto my son James Dickinson my negro man named Randall, my negro girle named Hannah and my negro boy named Nat to
him and his heires forever after mine and my wife's decease.
Item. I give and bequeath unto my son Edward Dickinson my negro woman named Sarah and her child named Sue to him and his heires forever after mine and my wife's decease.
Item. I give to my brother in law James Whitcombe forty shillings in money to bee paid unto him within a month after the probate of this my will.
Item. I give and bequeath all the rest of my estate remaining after mine and my wife's decease with what personal estate I bequeathed to my wife dureing her life to my son
Edward Dickinson, my son Samuel Dickinson, my son James Dickinson, my grandson John Dickindon, my grandaughter Mary Dickinson forever to
bee equeally divided among them after the one hundred and sixty pounds bequeathed to my grandchildren John and Mary Dickinson is paid out of itt.
Item. It is my willthat my wife Mary Dickinson shall bee the executrix and my sons Edward, Samuel and James Dickinson and my grandson
John Dickinson aforesaid shall bee the executors of this my last will and testament. And I desire my loveing brother Samuel Sherlock Esq'r and Mr Daniel Styles
to aid and assist them what lyes in their power. In witness whereunto I have sett to my hand and seale this twenty sixth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and six.
