Minutes of HM Council: 1 March 1696
At a council table holden at the Sessions House in St Georges on the ffirst day of March 1696. Present:

Upon the petition this day made by Mr Nicholas Trott the late Secretary of these islands to this board. It is the opinion of htis board on the same that the said Nicholas Trott hath full freedom and liberty to prosecute his articles to this board against any person or persons whatsoever mentioned in these articles.
Upon the motion made by John Brooke on behalf of Mr Nicholas Trott the late Secretary of these Islands that hee the said Mr Trott might have freedom of his personall appearance here alledging that hee feared hee might bee taken upp by several personal actions. Itt is the judgement and opinion of this board that itt lyes not in this board to intermeddle therewith nor that they can justifie themselves to grant the motion aforesaid in the same case.
