Minutes of HM Council: 3 June 1687

At a Councell held at St Georges June the 3rd 1687.

Those present:

Ordered that the treaty of peace, good correspondence & Neutrality in America betweene the most serene and mighty Prince James the Second by the grace of God, King of Great Britain, France, Ireland, defender of the faith etc. and the most serene and mighty Prince Lewis the fourteenth the most Christian King concluded the 16th day of November 1686 bee forthwith published throughout these Islands. Ordered that it be put to the Assembly, wen sitting to take care for erecting a brest work or fort at Somerset and another at Port Royall.

Ordered that it be putt to the Assembly to take as to the libertie for a ship to carry to England the last two years tobacco remaining in the Island provided Capt Jno Bee refuses it was disposed but went to the next councell for further debate.

The petition of William Outerbridge humbly excusing an attachment upon the goods of Daniell Ashlin in the hands of Thomas Atwood said Ashlin being in his debt and lives at the Bahama Islands a place without Government. Was referd to the next Councell. Upon the petition of Mr James Smailes ordered that he pay Mr John Bristow the three pounds five shillings according to a Counsell order May the 25th "87 And Mr Smailes left to ye law for the money he sayth Mr Bristow oweth him.
