Minutes of HM Council: 3 May 1687

At a Council held at St Georges May the 3rd 1687.

Then present:

The Rt Honble the Governor Capt Jno. Hubbard Depty Sheriff Mr Thomas Outerbridge Mr Richard Peniston
Mr William Greene Mr William Pitt Mr Perient Trott Mr Lawrence Dill

John Robinson Esq & Mr Charles Walker, admitted councillors and sworne accordingly.

John Tucker admitted and sworne Depty Secretie.

Mr James Smailes who was remitted to prison by Col. Coney in ye time of his Govt.: his petition for argument being read with his mitimus. It is the opinion of the Court that the said Smailes is baleable and that ye give Col. Cony timely notice to make good his mitimus against Smailes the next Councell.

Ordered that the General Capts of Companies in ye Countrey have notice given them that his Hon. intends to go with them on Munday come seven night and expects that they with their Companies be in armes said day.

Capt Thomas Richards, Capt William Peniston, and Mr Arthur Jones appointed to be of the Quorum.

Ordered that Coll. Coney have 14 daies allowed him to bring in his Accompts of publique reseipts and disbursements.

A Councill appointed to be held on Thursday come seven night and that the Justices do then appear and the Constables of Sandis and Hamilton Tribes doe then bring in their accompts of the levie by then received.

Upon a petition of Mrs Marie Watlington, widdow, touchin a difference depending betwixt her and her sonn in law Mr William Greene, ordered that she bring her evidence the next councell.
