Minutes of HM Council: 3 July 1727

At a Council holden at the house of Mrs Martha Harford, widow in Hamilton Tribe on Monday the 3rd of July 1727.

This day was sworn to before this Board by the Receiver of the Publick Revenues, their respective accounts vizt.

Capt Nathl Butterfield's accots. of the Liquor Tax, dated 29th June 1727.
John Carter's accnt. of the said duty dat. 6th March 1726/7.
Mr Saml Smith's acco. of King's Rents from the 1st Nov 1725 to the 1st of January 1725/6 and his accot. ditto from 1st January 1725/6 to the 1st January 1726/7.

Whereas by an order of the Board of the 6th day of July 1725, the money collected for the King's Stores was ordered to be paid for coals for the use of his Excell. the Gov. and that sum should be refunded out of the other funds where the same could be best spared for purchasing other powder: It is therefore hereby ordered.

That Capt Nathl. Butterfield Treasurer of these Islands send to Barbados by the first opportunity for as much powder as the above mention'd money will purchase, on accot. and risque of the Publick. Ordered.

That the overseers appointed by an Act of Assembly of these Islands (passd the 15th June 1727) for repairing the fortifications do forthwith purchase as much timber and plank as may be necessary for that purpose; and particularly Madera Timber if it can be got. And that upon their buying of it, they draw bills for the value thereof upon Capt Nathl Butterfield payable out of the money raised by vertue of the said Act. Ordered.

That Leonard White Esq late Collector of the 2 & 4 percent duty attend the next Council day, in order to pass his last accounts of that duty.
