Bermuda, alias Somers' Islands.

By his Excellency James Craufurd, Esq. Captain General, Governor, Commander in Chief, and Vice Admiral of these Islands.

A Proclamation.

Whereas many articles essentially necessary to the Comfort and Convenience of the good People of these Islands are at present much wanted, I do therefore, by and with the advice of his Majesty's Council, hereby declare, that from and after the date hereof, until the 24th day of July next, Bread, Flour, Rice, Pease, Indian Corn, Salt Beef, Salt Pork, and every other sort of Provisions, soap and candles, Pitch, Tar, Turpentine, Rosin, and Tallow, Malts, Spars, Yards, and Lumber of all kinds, may be imported in Foreign vessels, belonging to the Subjects or Citizens of any Nations or State of Friendship with the Crown of Great Britain, into the Ports of St Geiorge and Hamilton (but no other) in these Islands and furthermore, I do declare, that all such foreign vessels importing the several articles above mentioned or any of them,within the term abovelimited, into the said ports of St George and Hamilton or either of them, shall be at liberty to purchase and carry away ___ India or other produce, to the full amount of their respective cargoes, and I do also hereby publish and make known, that no foreign vessel of the above description, which may load in the said port of Hamilton,  shall be compellable to come to the Town of St George, for the purpose of clearing at the Custom House there, but that the personal attendance of the Matter of every such vessel at the said Custom House, shall be sufficient to entitle him to the usual and customary Clearance; of twhich Officers of his Majesty's Customs for these Islands, and all others whom it doth, shall, or may concern, are hereby required to take notice, and govern themselves accordingly.
