Minutes of HM Council:  16 November 1739

Att a Councill  holden at the House of His Excellency the Govr., on Tuesday the 16th November 1739.

Three members of the House of Assembly attending Delivered his Excellency in Councill the message following Vizt.,

That there was severall members of the Assembly then mett according to the adjournment but not a sufficient number to proceed on business but that there were several members lately Elected then attending in order for qualification whereupon his Excellency ordered a Dedimus and Signed the same authorizing Andrew Auchinleck Esqr and Coll. Francis Jones two of the Councill Mr Speaker and the surety to qualifye such late elected members.

Ordered that the Surety make out a Commission for his Excellency signing Commissioning Mr Thomas Savage to act as Lieutenant of West Side Fort under the Command of Captain John Gibbs.

A message from the house by three members thereof desiring that the Committee appointed on the 4th October last for inspecting the severall Fortifications may meet the Committee at the House Mr John Slater the Evening in Order to make an Estimate of the expense that may attend the repairs of the fortifications and make two batteries on the little head and old Castle the Committee attend accordingly.
