Minutes of HM Council:  4 February 1728/9

Att a Council  held by adjournment at the  House of his Excellency the Governour on Tuesday the 4th day of February 1728/29.

This day Col. John Jennings, Andrew Auchinleck Esq. and Leond. White Junr. Esq. were appointed by this Baord a Committee for auditing of the Treasurers and other publick Accnts, who accordingly withdrew in order to do the same, Then came a message from the house acquainting that a Committee of their house was ready to meet his Excellency the Govr. and Council according to yesterday's appointment; at the same time desiring to know whether or when his said Excellency and Council was or would be ready. To which His Excellency returned for answer That as soon as he and his Council was ready to receive them their house should have notice thereof. Majr. Nathaniel Butterfield (Treasurer) being sworn to his accounts of the liquor tax, Samuel Smith by Direction of this Board waited on the house and acquainted that His Excellency the Govnr. and Council was then ready to proceed with the Committee aforesaid in the view of the Publick Accounts and desired them to attend accordingly.
