Minutes of HM Council:   20 November 1728

Att a council holden at the house of His Excellency the Govn. by adjournment on Wednesday 20th of November 1728.

Then came from the house three of the members and presented to His Excellency the Gov. and Council An Act for the Greater Encouragement of Importing Spanish Silver Money into these Islands for their Concurrance.

Ordered That Saml. Smith Clerk wait on the house and present an Act of Parliament intituled an Act for ascertaining the rates of foreign coin in her Majesties Plantations in America for their purusual and Desire the Committee appointed for passing of Publick Bills to attend this house for that purpose. Who accordingly did attend immediately.

Then passed the Bills following. Vizt.
1.  Madam Francis Tucker's Bill for entertainment of His Excellency the Govr. on his arrival.        L 67  2  0
2. Leonard White Junr. Esq. his bill for Repairs of Govrs. houses    L129  13  10
3. Edwin Stone Esq. his bill for entertainment of his Excell. the Gov Council etc. the day his Commission was read   L 25  6  8
4. Saml. Smiths bill for the expense of Negro Phillis's lying in.             L 1  18  0
5. Mrs Zuills Bill for entertainment of Govr. Hope & Council allowd & passd after Deducting 65 pieces of Eight, each at 5/4

Upon reading the petition of Robt. Dinwiddie Esq. praying that he might be reimbursed the charges and expense he was at in repairing and buying (necessaries) for the Governour's Garden whilst in his possession.

Ordered that three members of this Board meet three of the Committee for passing Publick Bills in the said garden in order to view and inspect the same immediately, and to report their opinions (what they shall adjudge or think reasonable to be allowed the said Robert Dinwiddie) to this Board in the afternoon.

Then was read the return of the Committee this day appointed for inspection of the Governours garden viz. Novr. 20th, 1728

Att a conference of the Committee this day appointed to view and Inspect the Govr's Garden (lately repaired by Robt Dinwiddie Esq.) whose names are as follows.

Upon the consideration of the expense that the said Dinwiddie has been at in Repairing of and buying necessaries for the said Garden. Its the Unanimous opinion of this Committee That the said Dinwiddie be allowd. and paid out of the publick money, the sum of Twenty-five pounds and that the necessaries so bought, be and remain to and for the use of the said Garden.

Adjourned till tomorrow morning at ten of the clock.
