Minutes of HM Council: 4 September 1696

Att a Council table holden att the Sessions House in St Georges on the ffourth day of September 1696.

Present:

On request of Mr Charles Walker about two Iron Guns lying in St Georges Towne and belonging to the Estate of Mr Arthur Jones decd That hee might have them.

It is by this Board ordered that Capt Stephen Crow, Sheriffe do deliver the same guns unto the said Mr Charles Walker takeing his receipt for the same.

Then brought before this Board an Act of Assembly about the value of money. An Act for Encouragement of the pilott. About Liquor Tax. About the building the Governors house.

New Providence:
Received August the ffourth 1696 of Governor John Goddard Esq the sume of One Hundred and Twenty peeces of Eight being for the Like Sume left or deosited in the said Governor Goddards hands by Mr Richard Wise in Leive or Lent of Three barrells of Gunpowder part of six barrells borrowed of the said Governor after the rate of fforty peeces of eight pr barrel. I say Received pr mee Nicholas Trott.

Bermuda, September 4 1696

I Charles Walker Attorney to Nicholas Trott Esq Governor of New Providence do hereby acknowledge to have received of his Excellency John Gollard Esq the sume of One hundred and Twenty peeces of eight being so much deposited for the three barrells of Gunpowder as above I say received for the use of the said Governor Trott.
