Will of Sarah HOSKINS, St Allen, Cornwall: 1838

Probate granted 11 December 1838, St Allen

In the name of God Amen I Sarah Hoskins of the Parish of Saint Allen in the County of Cornwall widow and relict of Thomas Hoskins deceased my late husband.

Being of sound and understanding and understanding the uncertainty of human life make this my last will and Testament as follows/That is to say: as to my funeral expenses, I leave it to my Executrixes hereafter named to be performed in as private a Manner as May be consistent with common decency –

Item I give and bequeath to my grand daughter Jane Bishop the sum of five pounds when she attain the age twenty one years and the sum of four pounds a year from the date of my decease as long as the lives live in my leasehold property. But if my grand daughter do live with my Executrixes here after named, then the said four pounds a years to be paid to them or either of them that may support and maintain her –

I also give and bequeath to my grand son – William Bishop the sum of ten pounds when he attain the age of twenty one years.

I also give and bequeath to my grand son Simon Bishop the sum of ten pounds when he attain the age of twenty one years or to the survivor of my two grandsons but if my said grandsons die before he attain the age of twenty one years then the before named two sums of ten pounds shall revert back to my executrixes hereafter named.

I give and bequeath to my two daughters Jane Hoskins and Mary Lanyon Hoskins all and every part and parcel of my share and interest in the property given and bequeathed to me by my late husband Thomas Hoskins aforesaid of what nature or kind so ever with all the residue of my estate and effects share and share alike as tenants in common and not as joint tenants.

And lastly I hereby make constitute and appoint the said Jane Hoskins and Mary Lanyon Hoskins executrixes of this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all former will and wills by me made. I declare this only to be my last will and testament.

In witness whereof I the said Sarah Hoskins have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal this first day of November one thousand eight hundred and thirty eight

Signed sealed and declared by the said Sarah Hoskins the Testatrix as and for her last will and testament in the presence of us who in the presence of her and at her request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses.
