British Isles Family History Society – U.S.A.
The Society's educational endeavors include the following.
BIFHS–USA offers ten monthly program meetings with guest lecturers. Meetings are held on the fourth Sunday of each month except December and the month of the annual seminar (usually August). Any variations in the schedule are announced in the Society's newsletter.
The Study Groups hold meetings focusing on research and history. Members of these groups share knowledge, problems, and materials. Meeting dates and times are announced in the Society newsletter. Study Group meetings are often followed by workshops or open-research sessions with consultants available. Handouts, newsletters, and research materials may be available for purchase. Membership in a Study Group is not required to attend its meetings.
Six bimonthly newsletters are published containing research sources on the internet, calendar of local, national, and international genealogical events: information about the Society's monthly programs, Society news; brief book reviews; and the latest research tips.
The Society publishes two issues of the BIFHS–USA JOURNAL each year. Each issue contains approximately sixty pages of informative articles on connecting your immigrant ancestor to the British Isles: English, Irish, Scottish, and Welsh research, sources, and record repositories and book reviews. Our journal is exchanged with many other societies worldwide.
Seminars are held annually, usually in August. The BIFHS-USA Genealogical Research Seminar features speakers highly respected in their fields. BIFHS–USA members receive a discount on the registration fee.
