BOULDER DAILY CAMERA OBITUARY INDEX, 1970-1974
Compiled by Cari Taplin and various volunteers for the Boulder Genealogical Society

This is an index to the Boulder Daily Camera newspaper obituaries from 1970 - 1974. Several fields of information were extracted from the obituary in order to help researchers identify ancestors with the best possible accuracy. Name alone may not determine the identity of an individual.

To begin, click a letter to view a surname:

or

The different fields included in this index are:
1) last name
2) first and middle name
3) maiden name
4) birth date or age at death
5) birth place
6) death date
7) the newspaper date and page.

The maiden name was extracted for women if it could be determined. We also included the name if it could be assumed from her brother’s name. In the case of these assumptions, an asterisk (*) was used following the name to indicate that it is probably but not necessarily correct. An entry of “unknown” indicates she was married but a maiden name could not be determined. If the marital status could not be determined at all, then a “???” is used to indicate this.

For birth places, standard U.S. Postal Service state abbreviations were used. For birth places outside of the United States abbreviations were used as listed on the following page.

The death date may be a phrase that was used in the obituary that gives an approximate date of death, such as “died last week”, if the exact date was not given.

Anytime there was uncertainty with the information in the obituary the information was placed in brackets [ ]. For example, one birth date was given as 1808 but most probably meant 1908.

I’d like to thank the following volunteers who have helped extract the data for this volume of the Boulder Daily Camera Obituary Index: Pam Michener, Clif Highman, Mary McRoberts, Linda Kepler, Peggy McDonald, Seth Taplin, Paula Businger, and Shannon Bonjour. Without their help and dedication, this index would not have been a possibility.
