British Columbia Vital Events IndexesThese online indexes contain
a summary of information on historic births, deaths and
marriages that were submitted to District Registrars and
registered by the Director of Vital Statistics. These indexes are of
limited release dates (births over 100 years old, marriages
over 75 years old and deaths over 20 years old) for British
Columbia only.
Microfilms of the registrations
Certain libraries and archives in British Columbia have microfilm
copies of the birth, marriage, and death registrations available for
viewing. See the
list
for the one nearest you. Copies can be requested for viewing at your
local Family History Centre, too. To determine which film you need, the
Vital Statistics Indexes will tell you which microfilm you need to look
at.
Genealogical Certificates
Requests for genealogical certificates must be sent to the
British Columbia Vital Statistics Agency. Fees for the certificates are
listed in the
Vital Statistics Agency Fee List. Requests should be sent to the

the index for the registration requested, except the GSU microfilm
