MAGUIRE, Sylvia F.

Wickenburg -- Sylvia F. Maguire, 77, widow of Charles L. "Squire" MAGUIRE, was born in Isabella County, Michigan. Mrs. Maguire and her husbnad first came here in 1947 as winter visitors. They built the Rancho de Los Caballeros guest ranch. They also built several homes including their own on an adjoining mesa. The couple developed a number of residential subdivisons here. The Maguires came here from Mt. Pleasant, MI, where they had oil interests. Donations by Mrs. Maguire helped build St. Albans Episcopal Church here, and at the time of her death she was treasurer of the church. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Pat DUNNING in New Mexico. Services were at St. Albans. Burial in Wickenburg Cemetery. 3/5/1970.

MAIR, Alice F.

Alice F. Mair, 57, who came here from New Jersey in 1947, died Wed., Dec. 31, 1969, at Phoenix General Hospital. Mrs. Mair owned and lived at the Mair Convalescent Home, 2914 W. Rose Lane. Ray Malott, 80, a retired farmer who came here 22 years ago from Whitehall, Michigan, died Sun., Mar. 1, 1970, in Good Samaritan Hospital. Mr. Malott was born in Marion, Indiana. MANSELL, Esther S.

Esther S. Mansell, 60, who moved to Tempe in 1946 from Wood River, IL, died March 6, 1970, in St. Joseph's Hospital. She operated a beauty salon before moving to Phoenix. She was a member of Maryvale Christian Church, a former member of the Pythian Sisters in Tempe and the Order of Eastern Star in her native Hardin, IL. Husband, Glenn, and a daughter, Mrs. Jo Ann HUNT and son, Gerald SIDWELL of Tucson; two sisters, Mrs. Albert Uzzett, East Alton, IL, Mrs. O.C. MAPLES, Claude E.

The Rev. Claude E. Maples, 58, a minister and evangelist 29 years for Assembly of God churches, died Dec. 15, 1970, in Lincoln Hospital. Mr. Maples was ordained in 1941 and served churches in Eureka, Chamois and Dexter, MO, Sapulpa, OK, Hill City, KS, and in Sunnyslope. He was born in Hayti, MO, and came to Phoenix in 1963 from Hill City. Survivors include his wife, Juanita; a son, Claude, Jr., of Santa Monica, CA; a brother out of state, and two grandchildren. Marion M. Marnen, 72, died Wed., Dec. 16, 1970, in Yavapai Community Hospital. She was born in Chicago and resided there until 1960 when she moved to Prescott with her husband, Bernard J. Glendale -- Ruth E. McCann, 77, 7230 N. 37th Ave., died Sat., Dec. 12, 1970. She was a native of Terre Haute, IN, and came here 1 1/2 years ago from Albuquerque. She was a member of the Central Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star there. She graduated from a teachers college in Missouri and taught school for a short time. Guila M. McConkey, 89, who moved here 16 years ago from Wellington, Ohio, died Monday, March 2, 1970, in a Phoenix nursing home. Mrs. McConkey was born in Buckhannon, W.VA. She formerly was a bookkeeper for the B.F.Goodrich Rubber Co. of Akron, OH. She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church here. Survivors include her husband, Howard D.; three daughters, Mrs. Arthur C. Felix and Mrs. Steven Medlock, both of Phoenix, and Mrs. William Klann of Macedonia, OH; a son, H. Hazel E. McConnell, 80, a soprano who graduated from the Indianapolis Conservatory of Music in 1906 and came to Phoenix in 1956, died March 6, 1970, in Good Samaritan Hospital. She was a member of the First Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star in Lafayette, IN. She sang professionall during her early life. Survivors include four sons, Rep. Sam A. MECK, Billy Fred

Buckeye -- Billy Fred Meck, 57, Buckeye justice of the peace since 1946, died of a heart attack Thurs., Jan. 1, 1970, in his home. He was a native of Springfield, Ohio. He came to Arizona in 1932 to stay with relatives, the Moon family, original homesteaders of Moon Valley. In September 1934, Mr. MECK, the son of a Greek immigrant whose family name was MICHAELACOPOULOS, married Mildred SHEPARD of Liberty, who survives. He was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded in Italy while serving with the Army during World War II. Sons, Bill F. of Ely, Nevada; Jackie of Buckeye and Tommy of Payson; a sister out of state; an aunt, Martha MOON FRANKLIN of Litchfield Park; and six grandchildren. MONTOYA, Manuel T., Jr.

Duncan -- Army Spec. 4 Manuel T. Montoya, Jr., 21, was killed in action in South Vietnam Feb. 19, 1970. Mr. Montoya was born in Safford and lived here all his life. He was a 1968 graduate of Duncan High School where he participated in football, basketball, baseball and track. He joined the Army in August 1968 and had been in Vietnam since July 1969. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Montoya, Sr.; six brothers, Arthur, Tony, Robert, Larry, Donnie and Max; four sisters, Delores and Alice Montoya, Mrs. Evelyn Rodriguez and Mrs. Katheryn Bejarane; and his grandmother, Mrs. Francisca Villa, all of Duncan. Services were at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial with full military honors was in Duncan. 3/1/1970.

MOORE, Marjorie D.

Marjorie D. Moore, 69, part owner of Lucille's Dress Shop in Phoenix, died March 1, 1970, in the Beatitudes Retirement Home. Mrs. Moore was born in Arkansas and came to Phoenix 42 years ago. Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Frances GRIFFITH of Atlanta; and two grandchildren. A son, Navy Lt. Cmdr. Charles M. MOORE, was killed in an air crash in Turkey in 1958. MOORE, Minnie H.

Mrs. Minnie H. Moore, 88, 1631 W. Rovey, died Jan. 3, 1970, at Phoenix General Hospital. She was born in Melbourne, KY, and came here 25 years ago from Trenton, TN. She was a member of North Phoenix Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Martha Nickles of Phoenix; one brother and three sisters out of state; one granddaughter and five great-granddaughters. Services and burial were in Trenton, TN. 1/4/1970.

MORALES, Clara

Willcox -- Clara Morales, 98, died Friday, Feb. 27, 1970, in Northern Cochise Community Hospital. Mrs. Morales was a native of Ysleta, TX, and came to Safford from new Mexico in 1928. She moved to Willcox 22 years ago. Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Tomasa Olivas of Safford; a son, Joe Morales of Willcox; 25 grandchildren; and 56 great-grandchildren. Mass was at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Safford. 3/1/1970.

MORGAN, David B.

David B. Morgan, 83, a partner in the John H. Page Land Co. for 40 years and a well-known Arizona land lawyer, died Monday, March 2, 1970, in Beatitudes Nursing Home after a long illness. Before coming to Phoenix in 1918, he was connected with the US Government Land Office in Washington. He was a member of the State Bar of Arizona since 1918. He graduated from Georgetown University Law School and was a life member of both the AZ Club and the Knights of Columbus. He was a native of Williamsport, PA. Survivors include his wife, Lucy; a daughter, Nonie, of Phoenix; and a sister and two brothers out of state. Entombment in Greenwood Mausoleum. 3/4/1970.

MOSACK, Florence

Scottsdale -- Mrs. Flora Mosack, 83, who moved here in December 1968 from Chicago, died March 4, 1970, in Scottsdale Hospital. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. A. W. Willcox -- William T. Moyer, 65, a cowboy, who was born in Willcox and had been a lifelong resident, died Thurs., Jan. 1, 1970, in an auto accident near here.
