MAGUIRE, Sylvia F.

Wickenburg -- Sylvia F. Maguire, 77, widow of Charles L. "Squire" MAGUIRE, was born in Isabella County, Michigan. Mrs. Maguire and her husbnad first came here in 1947 as winter visitors. They built the Rancho de Los Caballeros guest ranch. They also built several homes including their own on an adjoining mesa. The couple developed a number of residential subdivisons here. The Maguires came here from Mt. Pleasant, MI, where they had oil interests. Donations by Mrs. Maguire helped build St. Albans Episcopal Church here, and at the time of her death she was treasurer of the church. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Pat DUNNING in New Mexico. Services were at St. Albans. Burial in Wickenburg Cemetery. 3/5/1970.

MAIR, Alice F.

Alice F. Mair, 57, who came here from New Jersey in 1947, died Wed., Dec. 31, 1969, at Phoenix General Hospital. Mrs. Mair owned and lived at the Mair Convalescent Home, 2914 W. Rose Lane. Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Polly MAIR of Phoenix. Burial in Resthaven Park, Glendale. Published in the Arizona Republic 1/2/1970.

MALOTT, Ray

Ray Malott, 80, a retired farmer who came here 22 years ago from Whitehall, Michigan, died Sun., Mar. 1, 1970, in Good Samaritan Hospital. Mr. Malott was born in Marion, Indiana. Survivors include his wife, Bessie; a son, Donald K. of Phx; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth FAULKNER of Newaygo, Michigan; and four grandchildren. Burial in East Resthaven Cemetery. 3/4/1970.

MANSELL, Esther S.

Esther S. Mansell, 60, who moved to Tempe in 1946 from Wood River, IL, died March 6, 1970, in St. Joseph's Hospital. She operated a beauty salon before moving to Phoenix. She was a member of Maryvale Christian Church, a former member of the Pythian Sisters in Tempe and the Order of Eastern Star in her native Hardin, IL. Husband, Glenn, and a daughter, Mrs. Jo Ann HUNT and son, Gerald SIDWELL of Tucson; two sisters, Mrs. Albert Uzzett, East Alton, IL, Mrs. O.C. Rockwood and a brother, Lee Fowler, both of Springfield, IL; and 13 grandchildren. 3/7/1970.

MAPLES, Claude E.

The Rev. Claude E. Maples, 58, a minister and evangelist 29 years for Assembly of God churches, died Dec. 15, 1970, in Lincoln Hospital. Mr. Maples was ordained in 1941 and served churches in Eureka, Chamois and Dexter, MO, Sapulpa, OK, Hill City, KS, and in Sunnyslope. He was born in Hayti, MO, and came to Phoenix in 1963 from Hill City. Survivors include his wife, Juanita; a son, Claude, Jr., of Santa Monica, CA; a brother out of state, and two grandchildren. Services and burial were in Green Acres Cemetery, 401 N. Hayden. 12/16/1970.

MARNEN, Marion M.

Marion M. Marnen, 72, died Wed., Dec. 16, 1970, in Yavapai Community Hospital. She was born in Chicago and resided there until 1960 when she moved to Prescott with her husband, Bernard J. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the Catholic Daughters of America and the VFW Auxiliary. Survivors include her husband, Bernard J.; one sister and one brother, both out of state. Tolleson -- Lucille T. Marriott (spelled Merriott in funeral announcement), 54, who was born in Glendale and lived the past 20 years in Tolleson, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1969, in Maryvale Hospital. Mrs. Marriott was associated with her husband in the Marriott Television and Radio Shop. Husband, Charles P.; daughters, Elsie BUSSE and Charlete MARRIOTT; son, Charles E., all of Tolleson; sisters, Mrs. Beatrice POWELL of Phoenix and Barbara CARTER of Chandler; brother, D. H. GRISSAM of Phoenix; a sister, Delvina White, of Harper, OR, and Mrs. Barbara Ann Carter, Chandler; and a brother, Gordon W. Grissam, Auburn, WA; and two grandchildren. MARSFELDER, Albert F.

Albert F. Marsfelder, 85, died Sun., Dec. 13, 1970, in St. Luke's Hospital. Mr. Marsfelder moved here in 1961 from Canton, OH, where he was maintenance manager of Holly Court Apartments. He was born in Syracuse, N.Y. Survivors include a son, Albert, of Canton; a daughter, Mrs. Jane Sommerville of Phoenix; eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Burial in East Resthaven Cemetery. 12/16/1970.

MARSH, James G.

James G. Marsh, 54, a sanitation engineer for the City of Phoenix, died March7, 1970, in St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born in Hayworth, Oklahoma, and came here from Houston 30 years ago. Wife, Maggie L.; two sons, James G. of Casa Grande and Robert D. of Phoenix; one brother out of state; and four grandchildren. Burial in Greenwood Memorial Park. 3/8/1970.

MARTINEZ, Carlos

Carlos Martinez, 61, died Monday, Dec. 29, 1969, in a Phoenix hospital. Mr. Martinez had operated a janitorial business the past 25 years. He was born in Texas and came to Arizona 52 years ago. Wife, Adelia; three stepchildren, Guillermo MUNOZ and Herbert MUNOZ, both of Phoenix, and Mrs. MONREAL of Nogales. Funeral Mass was in Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, 909 E. Washington. George E. Martynn, 83, a retired painter, died Sat., March 7, 1970, at Maryvale Hospital. He was born in Baltimore and came here in 1945. Survived by his wife, Barbara. Burial in Buffalo, New York. 3/9/1970.

Mrs. Mable A. Mason, 83, who came here in 1957 from Los Angeles, died Dec. 16, 1970, in Orangewood American Baptist Estates reitirement complex.. She was born in Marshalltown, Iowa. MARTINEZ, Margaret "Peggy"

Mrs. Margaret "Peggy" Martinez, 39, a tile presser with the Form-Flex Co. died Sat., Jan. 3, 1970, in Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born in Tucson and lived in Phoenix the past 37 years. Husband, Jose; daughters, Yvonn NUNEZ and Norma MARTINEZ; sons, Johnny and George MARTINEZ; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pete GARCIA; brother, Manuel GARCIA; sisters, Velia GARCIA, all of Phoenix. MATHIAS, Maude

Maude Mathias, 96, moved here from her native Ohio. Son, Bruce MATHIAS; daughters, Mrs. D. L. CROSSER and Dr. Louise RUPP. Burial in Memory Lawn Cemetery. 3/10/1970.

McCAMMAN, Lydia A.

Mesa -- Lydia A. McCamman, 80, a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church Guild, died Thurs., Dec. 17, 1970, in Mesa Southside Hospital. Mrs. McCamman was born in Detroit and moved here in 1968 from Birmingham, MI. Survivors include her husband, Guilbert; a son, Ernest R. of Detroit; a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Plummer of Tucson; and six grandchildren. Cremation followed services in St. Mark's Episcopal Church. 12/19/1970.

McCANN, Ruth E.

Glendale -- Ruth E. McCann, 77, 7230 N. 37th Ave., died Sat., Dec. 12, 1970. She was a native of Terre Haute, IN, and came here 1 1/2 years ago from Albuquerque. She was a member of the Central Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star there. She graduated from a teachers college in Missouri and taught school for a short time. Survivors include her son, Robert, of Phoenix; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Beeghley of Philadelphia; and six grandchildren. Services and burial were in Albuquerque. 12/13/1970.

McCAY, Peter B.

Wenden -- Peter B. McCay, 73, a former switchman and engineer with the Pullman car shops in Michigan City, IN, died Thurs., March 5, 1970, in the VA hospital in Prescott. He was born in Knox, Indiana, and came to Arizona 17 years ago. He was a World War I veteran. Wife, Violet; daughter, Dolly SMILER of Independence, MO; son, Frank, of Hammond, IN; two sisters and one brother out of state. Burial in the Veterans Cemetery in Prescott. 3/8/1970.

McCONKEY, Guila M.

Guila M. McConkey, 89, who moved here 16 years ago from Wellington, Ohio, died Monday, March 2, 1970, in a Phoenix nursing home. Mrs. McConkey was born in Buckhannon, W.VA. She formerly was a bookkeeper for the B.F.Goodrich Rubber Co. of Akron, OH. She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church here. Survivors include her husband, Howard D.; three daughters, Mrs. Arthur C. Felix and Mrs. Steven Medlock, both of Phoenix, and Mrs. William Klann of Macedonia, OH; a son, H. Donald McConkey of Phoenix; two brothers and two sisters out of state; and grandchildren. Graveside services were in Greenwood Cemetery, 2300 W. Van Buren. 3/4/1970.

McCONNELL, Hazel E.

Hazel E. McConnell, 80, a soprano who graduated from the Indianapolis Conservatory of Music in 1906 and came to Phoenix in 1956, died March 6, 1970, in Good Samaritan Hospital. She was a member of the First Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star in Lafayette, IN. She sang professionall during her early life. Survivors include four sons, Rep. Sam A. McCONNELL, Jr., R-Coconino, of Williams; Col. Daniel F. McCONNELL, with the Marines at El Toro, California; Thomas O. McCONNELL of Atlanta and Richard L. CAWLEY of Phoenix. Cremation followed services in the Arizona Funeral Home. 3/7/1970.

McCORMICK, Irene

Irene McCormick, 68, a retired practical nurse, died March 7, 1970, in her home. She was born in York, Illinois, and came here from Santa Barbara. She was a member of the West Phoenix Church of Christ. Father, Dr. David W. BOPP, of Phoenix, survives. Burial in Santa Barbara, California. 3/8/1970.

McCORMICK, Ted I.

Mesa -- Ted I. McCormick, 63, died Mon., Mar. 2, 1970, in Mesa Southside Hospital. He had been a sanitary engineer 18 years at the Fitzsimmons Army Hospital at Denver. He was born in West Mineral, Kansas, and moved to Wickenburg seven years ago from Aurora, CO, and had resided in Mesa the past six years. He was a member of a Masonic Lodge, Colorado Consistory and the 32nd degree Scottish Rite. Survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughter, Margaret GRAHAM of Prescott; and two brothers out of state. 3/4/1970.

Mary Alma McCoy, 78, a retired schoolteacher, died Tues., Dec. 30, 1969. She was born in Ottawa, Kansas, and moved here five years ago from Wayne, Michigan. McCUNE, Maurine

Kingman -- Maurine McCune, 52, wife of Clyde McCune, Kingman justice of the peace, died Wed., Dec. 31, 1969, at Mohave General Hospital. Mrs. McCune was born in Kansas and came here 22 years ago. Funeral services were at St. John's United Methodist Church. Burial in Mountain View Cemetery. 1/4/1970.

McDANIEL, Charles E.

Prescott -- Charles E. McDaniel, 60, former city attorney and city councilman, died Mar. 9, 1970. He was born in Douglas and graduated from Superior High School and attended the University of Arizona and was graduated from both the college of liberal arts and the college of law. He practiced law with Allan K. PERRY in Phoenix until he moved to Prescott in 1936. He was a vestryman and member of St. Luke' Episcopal Church. Wife, Louise; daughter, Amy BARTYLLA of Phoenix; and son, Charles E., Jr., Phoenix; one sister and three brothers out of state; and four grandchildren. Entombment in Mountain View Mausoleum. 3/10/1970.

Lydia Ann McElwain, 66, died Dec. 31, 1969, in Memorial Hospital. She was born in Mountain View, Oklahoma, and came to Tucson 23 years ago. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Mesa -- Florence M. McEntire, 80, died Fri., March 6, 1970, in Mesa General Osteopathic Hospital. She was born in Arkansas and came to Arizona in a covered wagon from Marshall, Arkansas, in 1910. McGAW, Edna

Edna Florence McGaw, 77, died Thurs., Dec. 10, 1970, in the Capri Nursing Home. Mrs. McGaw was born in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, and moved to Central 61 years ago from Los Angeles and moved to Phoenix in 1928. She was a charter member of the Order of Eastern Star chapter at Glassell Park, CA. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. M. C. Shelton of Phoenix; two sisters and a brother out of state; and a grandchild. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. 12/12/1970.

McGEE, JoAnn

Scottsdale -- JoAnn McGee, 40, a secretary in the marketing department for Motorola in Mesa for seven years, died Monday, Dec. 14, 1970, in Good Samaritan Hospital. Mrs. McGee was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church. She was born in New York and came to Scottsdale in 1961. Survivors include a son, James; two daughters, Mrs. Kathleen McGuire and Mrs. Laurie McGuire; her mother, Mrs. Paul Giusto; and a sister, Mrs. Camille LaCross, all of Scottsdale. Burial in St. Francis Cemetery. 12/16/1970.

McINTOSH, Wayman

San Carlos -- Wayman McIntosh, 34, of San Carlos, died Thurs., March 5, 1970, at his home here. He was born in San Carlos and was a cowboy. Parents, Mr. and Mrs. Made McINTOSH; brother, Willie of Phx; six sisters, Mrs. Irma STEELE, Mrs. Perry POLK of Globe, Wilma and Emily of San Carlos and Norma and Flora both in Utah.
